It's so important to share the gospel with our kids, but how do we actually do that? Popular kids podcaster, Jessica White, tells us exactly how to talk to our kids about salvation in this Unapologetic Conversation! Like Julia, Jessica also hosts a kids bible podcast—hers called Kids Bible Stories. Together, these two moms passionate about sharing Jesus with their kids talk about how to get our kids to church, why being intentional in our parenting and teaching is so important, and how to make church fun for kids, and not a chore. Their conversation also digs into—and disproves—the false belief that kids can't be “real” Christians. Both Julia and Jessica have witnessed to their kids and seen them come to accept Christ, so together they talk about why some people might believe that isn't the case and how to talk to our kids about God in a way that's appropriate for their ages and maturity levels. Jessica and Julia wrap up the episode by encouraging parents to start their kids' faith journey by being intentional, making time with God a daily habit, and beginning small. "Titane" has had a tremendous amount of buzz since its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival, where it went on to win the coveted Palme d'Or. Since then, it has been mystifying, terrifying those who have dared to see it, and in some cases, causing audience members to faint during their screenings. Beneath all of the film's more visceral moments, there is a sweetness that emerges, and it is here where the film's storytelling becomes the most rewarding. Julia Ducournau's follow-up film to "Raw" is uncompromising, with a clear directorial vision that's one of the most unique and intense you're likely to see this year. This podcast episode was recorded on Tuesday, April 4th 2018 at our 3rd event in our 6th season of hosting these events... It just took us 6 seasons to get our act together and start recording them as a podcast :) At this time we were seeing BigCommerce, Shopify, as well as other agencies and technologies, focused on e-commerce investing heavily in resources around Facebook advertising in order to educate their clients on generating online sales through the platform. At the same time we were learning that while spending on Facebook (by brands) increased by 74%, the cost of advertising on the platform also increased by 12%. Algorithms are impacting strategy and results, and even design is being impacted by this newer form of advertising. Working with clients in our various fields of expertise, the above information proves that it's critically important that we all know enough and stay up to speed with changes with advertising on Facebook's platform. The platform continues to wield considerable power to drastically impact a client's business, and we need to be able to have informed high-level conversations with our clients in order to provide additional value... even if we aren't the experts working in Facebook advertising as a career. Join us for this presentation on The Power of Facebook Advertising with Leah Mazur of Loop Digital Marketing, and Julia Ufimzeff of AdVenture Marketing. In sharing their experience with Facebook advertising, we dig into the following: 1 - What are some things our clients should consider when thinking about advertising on Facebook? 2 - What are some things our clients should stay away from when advertising on Facebook? 3 - How has the rise of Facebook advertising impacted marketing and advertising and other fields of expertise in the space? Both Julia and Leah worked for Strawhouse and have since moved out on their own to consult with clients, helping them to strategize, implement, and optimize their Facebook advertising campaigns.

Good Menopause to you! We start out chatting about the weather in Los Angeles, because weather happens so infrequently that it’s remarkable! Julia’s daughter is about to have a birthday, so she recalls her experience in the hospital and how she took advantage of the Nurse’s offer to keep her daughter in the Nursery overnight so she could get sleep. Sarah’s youngest son was a Buddha Baby when he was born, so she was able to keep him with her in the bed and watch tabloid TV while he nursed and slept. And we note that kids love to hear their birth stories! Bible Study - Menopause Confidential by Dr. Tara Allmen - Chapter 10 “Fifty Shades of Gray… Hair” Sarah had been really looking forward to this chapter, but was a little disappointed to not hear more about her gray hair. It turns out it’s not Menopause-related, it’s age-related. Both Julia and Sarah have stopped coloring their hair - and Sarah’s is growing out with a very distinct line of demarcation between gray and color. She’s frustrated with the slow growth and transition. Ugh! Julia’s hair has all grown out and it’s an all-over light brown/dark blonde - she calls it Dishwater or dirty blonde - but she doesn’t have much gray. The Dr. recommends not washing your hair as often and moisturizing it more. Just like our skin. We both talk about our Grandmas and how they used to get a Wash N Set once per week. We fully support that and want to do it, too. We are fascinated to hear about a laser light brush existed or that it *could* help with hair loss! Chapter 11 - “It’s All About the Breast” The Dr. talks about how confusing it can be to talk about Menopause treatments and Breast Cancer. And the changing guidelines about when and how often you should get mammograms. Sarah indeed found it confusing, so please read it carefully yourself - and of course consult your own medical professional to get advice. It has to do with whether early screening can lead to false positives and unnecessary procedures. It used to be - get a baseline mammogram at 35 and then get one every year starting at 40 - then every other year at 50. But now they’re saying that can change to every other year, even in your 40s. Breast Cancer stats: approx. 230,000 American women are diagnosed every year with Breast Cancer, and only 40,000 will die from it. (Compare that to Heart Disease deaths - 400,000!) Oh and by the way, breast self-exams basically do no good, despite the way they used to push it on us. Leading causes of death in women: Heart Disease #1, then Lung Cancer #2, then Breast Cancer #3, then Colon Cancer #4. Chapter 12 - “Hooray for Colonoscopy” Have you had your 50-year-old colonoscopy screening? Both of us had ours at age 50. Sarah wonders if she was supposed to get a 2nd one at age 55? She needs to follow up with her doctor. People traditionally hate the idea of getting a colonoscopy because the prep is gross and no fun. You have to have a very clean colon for the screening to work, which means it has to be Thoroughly Cleaned Out. Often that means drinking a foul-tasting liquid that makes you sit on the toilet most of the night, but Dr. Allmen has a special system that sounds much more pleasant. Julia did a similar prep herself when she had her procedure, which was much better than what Sarah went through. Yay! And even though it’s not the most fun thing you can do, it’s important. Note: tiny technical glitchy weirdness at the end of the episode with some echo. How Hot Was Your Flash? None for us this week! Sorry.

Here’s the outline of this interview with Julia Kelly and Cara Champeny: [00:00:18] Both Julia and Cara have been through the paleo baby weaning process. [00:00:53] Cara, like me, has had her own personal health issues that were resolved by a paleo-type diet. [00:01:44] Cara's older son Wills was weaned in the usual way (onto cereal grains). [00:02:36] Wills also ended up with GI issues. [00:02:58] Cara was sure she wanted to do things differently with her youngest daughter, Maisie. [00:04:02] Baby-led weaning. [00:04:15] Avoiding exposure you things you'd rather they didn't develop a palette for. [00:04:43] Babies shouldn't need special food. [00:05:39] Creating problems for yourself. [00:06:00] Confidence and being different. [00:06:27] Cara is able to get her own way at home when it comes to food. [00:07:23] Julie initially looked to The Nourishing Traditions Book of Baby & Child Care. [00:08:16] Trading one dogma for another. [00:08:29] Trust your instincts. [00:09:37] The NT book was way too regimented. [00:09:55] Julia waited until Ivy was sitting upright. [00:10:24] Letting baby use their gums. [00:11:37] Cara thought Maisie would be ready for food at 6 months, not so. [00:12:40] Ivy was properly eating food at 8-10 months. [00:13:12] You shouldn't need to prop them up for feeding.
