Dominique plays the role of "Reef," a strong, unique and competitive person to "Dalton" (Jake Gyllenhaal) and "Billy" (Lucas Gage) in and out of the Roadhouse. Reef, who is an experienced boxer in college, peaks Dalton's interest to bring him on board and work side by side with "Billy" (Lucas Gage). This establishes a trustworthy dynamic and friendship between all three of them as you will see throughout the film. Dalton's biggest challenge is fighting off the bad seeds in the Roadhouse with the help of Reef and Billy. Roadhouse is set to premiere on March 21st, 2024 on Amazon Prime. After 35 years from its original, the remake of Roadhouse is coming to your screens, which stars Jake Gyllenhaal as Dalton and UFC superstar Conor McGregor in his first acting debut. Roadhouse, directed by the amazing, Doug Liman, who gave us films like The Bourne Identity and Edge of Tomorrow, is a reimagining of the 1989 cult film by the same name. The original Roadhouse starred the incredible and remarkable Patrick Swayze as Dalton, a renowned “cooler” with a mysterious past who is hired to take over security at a club in Jasper, Missouri, named the Double Deuce. Dalton quickly makes his presence known as an incorruptible and dangerous force able to stand toe-to-toe with any man before him. This new feature stars Jake as a former UFC fighter struggling to make ends meet. After the owner of a Florida Keys roadhouse finds him sleeping in his car, Elwood Dalton becomes a bouncer and finds himself roped into a war of outlaws and bikers (including actual mixed martial artist, turned first-time actor, Conor McGregor) and a developer determined to build a lavish resort for the rich jerks. You might recognize Dom from the hit EMMY nominated series, Ray Donovan, as series regular Damon King. The street-smart, homeless teenager with quick hands and boxing skills. After a year long run on the series, Dom acted alongside some great names like Liev Schrieber, Eddie Marsan, Jon Voight, Paula Malcomson, and many more. You can still see Dom in Brad Furman's feature, City of Lies, as Tyrell which investigates the murder of rapper Notorious B.I.G and stars some heavy hitters along with Columbus, Johnny Depp and Forrest Whitaker. He can also be seen in the Nick Richey feature film Low Low, which is currently out on Amazon Prime. Brad Furman is a director, writer, and producer best known for his gritty, thought-provoking, ethereal style. Furman most recently directed City Of Lies, starring Johnny Depp and Forest Whitaker. The film, based on the book Labyrinth, uncovers the true story of corruption in the Los Angeles Police Department in the wake of the murders of Christopher Wallace (aka The Notorious B.I.G) and Tupac Shakur. Shot on location in Los Angeles, the film takes an unflinching look at late-90s corruption, race relations, and the lengths one man will go to uncover the truth. Furman produced original music for the film, including tracks with The Notorious B.I.G's A Capellas. Corruption is everywhere... We've got a good one on this episode as we sit down with director Brad Furman about his new film 'City of Lies' which is on VOD platforms now. Based on the true story of one of the most notorious and unsolved cases in recent time, City of Lies is a provocative thriller revealing a never-before-seen look at the infamous murder of The Notorious B.I.G. shortly following the death of Tupac. L.A.P.D. detective Russell Poole (Johnny Depp) has spent years trying to solve his biggest case, but after two decades, the investigation remains open. "Jack" Jackson (Forest Whitaker), a reporter desperate to save his reputation and career, is determined to find out why. In search of the truth, the two team up and unravel a growing web of institutional corruption and lies. Relentless in their hunt, these two determined men threaten to uncover the conspiracy and crack the foundation of the L.A.P.D. and an entire city. We had the pleasure to sit down with Brad to talk about how he got involved in the project, if he should even do it in the first place, the cinematic mystery behind Los Angeles as a back drop for crime and why it's important to still shine a light on a story like this...

Charlie and George from the Retro Ramble Podcast join Flixwatcher remotely to review Charlie’s choice The Lincoln Lawyer. The Lincoln Lawyer is a 2011 drama/thriller film based on the 2005 novel of the same name by Michael Connelly and directed by Brad Furman. It stars Matthew McConaughey as The Lincoln Lawyer Mick Haller (so-called because his Lincoln car is his office) and has strong support from Marisa Tomei, Ryan Phillippe, Josh Lucas, John Leguizamo, Michael Peña, Bryan Cranston and William H. Macy. Haller is hired to defend the son (Phillippe) of a wealthy Los Angeles businesswoman in an assault case, but the high profile case quickly turns after similarities with a previous case Haller worked arise. Part courtroom drama part whodunit, The Lincoln Lawyer is a fairly enjoyable film. Carried by McConaughey who (according to Helen’s chart) is the beginning of the McConaissance with The Lincoln Lawyer. Scores [supsystic-tables id=172] The Lincoln Lawyer scores pretty well in the Flixwatcher categories, very high on the small screen but its low repeat viewing brings the overall score to 3.6. Composer Chris Hajian's talent and versatility can be heard in films like The Take, Yonkers Joe, First Position and now The Infiltrator among many other great projects. He is reconnecting with director Brad Furman for the new crime thriller starring Bryan Cranston. We chat about Chris' approach to the film including how he aimed to make the score feel vintage but not distinctly of the time period. Chris also discusses many other topics like why ambient scoring can be more appropriate versus using melodies, why he thinks there is too much music in modern films, and how he was able to build a successful career in his hometown of New York City when many people only see Los Angeles as the film capital of the world. Chris is such an inspiring composer, and getting a little glimpse into his processes is extremely enlightening. It was such a pleasure to have Chris return as a guest. LaF dives deep into the based-on-a-true-story criminal drama The Infiltrator for episode 163. The Brad Furman directed film stars Bryan Cranston as U.S. Customs official Robert Mazur who went undercover to bring down Pablo Escobar's money laundering operations in the 80's. In addition, to Mr. Cranston's powerful performance, John Leguizamo, Benjamin Bratt, and Diane Kruger help to create one of the best ensembles of the year. In addition to reviewing the film, our hosts Richard Lusk and Ryan Bull compare the film to other recent crime dramas, argue about how John Leguizamo steals every scene he is in, and try to figure out why this film got released in the middle of summer. Have you seen The Infiltrator? Send in your review by emailing the show at theLaFpodcast@gmail.com, tweeting @theLaFpodcast, or messaging us on Facebook.com/theLaFpodcast.
