Bible Prophecy Under the Microscope-Episode 23 Gary discusses Genesis 6 and the whole "sons of God" controversy and how it gets tied in with Bible prophecy. There is an endless amount of speculation that comes from these four verses in Genesis and entire worldviews are built on it, often including UFOs and aliens.

The descendants of Seth are described in the Bible as the godly line. And as the world of the ungodly began to take shape right from the beginning, so did the world of the godly. God never leaves Himself without a witness, so from generation to generation, step-by-step with the generations of the wicked, the generations of the faithful to God flowed through the days before the flood. As we study this line of Seth, there are only two things recorded, neither of which are recorded of the line of Cain. The first is that they lived. It is stated twice for most of them. The reason God doesn't say that the Cainites lived is because, to God, they were “dead in trespasses and sin.” Yet for the line of Seth, the Scripture tells us that they lived, and Jesus tells us that they had life abundantly. John 10:10 10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. KJV The second thing that is recorded of the Sethites is that they died. Once again, God did not record the death of the Cainites for heaven had no interest in their deaths. But for the Sethites, it is recorded that each one died and how old they were when they died. All that is except for Enoch, which is another story. God said to Adam in Gen 2:17, “… For in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die,” and they all died who were the sons of Adam. But, on the other hand, it was a day of jubilee. As each man dies, God proves Satan a liar, for Satan had said “thou shalt not surely die.” Yet each man died. God took note of each death and recorded it. The death of each saint was a jubilee day in heaven. Psalms 116:15 15 Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints. KJV Death for them was not the end, but the beginning. This is a live recording of The Master's Class Bible Study at LifeChange Church Wichita, KS. Amen.
This is part 6 of the Early Church History class. In the latter half of the second century, two kinds of Christians arose to defend the faith. On the one hand, apologists wrote defenses of Christianity directed at the Roman government. They responded to rumors, arguing that Christians were decent people who should be shown toleration. On the other hand, heresy hunters (or heresiologists) began to combat Christian groups that diverged significantly from apostolic Christianity, such as the Gnostics, Valentinians, and Marcionites. Today we'll briefly overview this fascinating period of Christianity when persuasion not coercion was the means to defeat one's opponents. KID BY THE SIDE OF THE ROAD by Juan O Savin is the most important book any American Patriot or National, and/or Trump voter can read at such a time as this. I've read the book twice and I feel such a compulsion to share, at least the first chapter with you who absolutely need to know, one way or another, what we have come through Globally, as a COUNTRY, as Believers in the ONE TRUE GOD, and the Biblical Spiritual Battle that we are now involved in. It involves the Cabal, Cainites, Illuminati, Jesuits, FreeMasons, Luciferians, bloodlines of Cain-Noah-Ashkenaz, private clubs, monarchs, royals, the Vatican, the Bankers, coup d'etats, world governments, elitists, city-states, satanists, pedophiles, reptilians, child sacrifice, idols, Molech practices, Baal, gods and goddesses, assassinations, blood rituals, man-made disasters and wars, evil plans for world depopulation through pandemics and vaccines, child trafficking, sex trafficking, pedophilia in high places (Government and Hollywood, secret tunnels, ...whew...I could go on. This will give you the foundation, the background you must have as the plot thickens and events unfurl in coming days and weeks of February, March and April....and how wonderful to reawaken to a restored and revived Constitutional Republic once its all said and done. This is why I am reading the first chapter, and hoping that you will also invest in this work. Audio RecordingSermon Manuscript:From almost the very beginning of the world there have always been two different kinds of people: believers and unbelievers. Adam and Eve were created as believers. The devil turned them into unbelievers with his lies. God had mercy on them and came to them again. He brought them to repentance. He promised salvation in Jesus, the Seed of the woman. In the first generation after Adam and Eve we see the two different kinds of people. Cain, the firstborn, became jealous of his younger brother Abel because Abel was acceptable in God’s sight whereas Cain was not. Cain was an unbeliever. Abel was a believer. Cain killed his brother. God gave another son to Adam and Eve named Seth. Seth was a believer. With the descendants of Cain and Seth we see that communities are formed. The descendants of Cain were unbelievers. The descendants of Seth were believers. The descendants of Cain are described as great innovators. They worked hard to remove the curses that came with the fall into sin. They tried to make a name for themselves. The Sethites had very different ambitions. They are described as being people who called on the name of the Lord. They listened to God’s Word, prayed, praised, and gave thanks. With both groups of people you have communities, which make them different than isolated individuals. Within communities cultures develop. People are raised and confirmed in a certain way. Members of the community support and encourage one another in their shared objectives. This is true for the worldly Cainites as well as the believing Sethites. This has been the way that things have carried on from that point forward up to the present day. Around the world there are cultures where many things are known and taught. Many things are believed in. But not everyone knows of and believes in the Savior promised to Adam and Eve. The community of believers in Christ is small in comparison to these other cultures. Nonetheless, here, there, and scattered throughout the world congregations of Christians remain. They are congregated by the Holy Spirit. They call on the name of the Lord. They hear God’s Word, pray, praise, and give thanks. Within these little communities children of God are born who will not die, but have eternal life in Jesus their Savior. Believers and unbelievers, Sethites and Cainites, have existed from the beginning. They will exist until the end of the world. But these communities do not have permanent members. As we’ve already mentioned, Adam and Eve went from being believers to being unbelievers and back again. Cain was born into a family of believers, but he became an unbeliever. Some people have been born into an unbelieving family, but God called them out of darkness into his marvelous light. The way that someone is converted as well as the way that faith is sustained is always the same. Barring some extraordinary miracle, it is always by coming into contact with individuals and communities who believes in Christ. The Word of God gets preached by Christians in such a case. The Word of God is preached to believers so that they can continually repent of their sins and believe in Christ. The Word of God is preached to those who are not yet converted, inviting them also to take refuge in the crucified Christ for their salvation. These individuals and communities who have the Word of God are essential for faith. Those places where there are no Christians are wastelands, haunts of the devil, even if they be sophisticated and rich like it was with the Cainites or with Sodom and Gomorrah. Even where there has been the Word of God, however, it can and does and always will happen that the community declines. “Judgment begins at the household of God,” as Peter says. God’s people are punished for their chasing after idols, for their cold-heartedness, for their disobedience. When God punishes with the loss of property or pestilence or some other bodily harm, then things are not so bad. But He can also punish by taking the Holy Spirit away so that people’s ears remain deaf. Eventually, if God does not relent and have mercy, God’s Word and Sacraments will disappear altogether because only believers are interested in coming to Church. If there are no believers, then there will be no Church. Then a place that once was blessed with a people who loved God by the power of the Gospel will become a place where there are jackals and screech owls. It will become a haunted wasteland, spiritually speaking. There is no sadder story that can possibly be told than this one. It is the tragedy of the Garden of Eden all over again. Even the Son of God is saddened by this story as we heard in our Gospel reading. The setting for our Gospel reading is Palm Sunday. The people had just hailed Jesus as the Messiah, the blessed one who comes in the name of the Lord. However, when Jesus looks out over Jerusalem he weeps. Jesus is not a wilting flower by temperament. He does not cry at the drop of a hat. He is moved to tears, however, by the spiritual devastation that is laid before him. That which was so beautiful is ugly, even though the buildings and institutions still glittered and sparkled. What was missing was not money or power or programs or buildings. What Jerusalem lacked was faith. How come? There were a lot of reasons. The Jews had become externally minded, that is, they only cared for achieving those results that could easily be seen with the eyes, instead of the true spiritual riches that can only take place in a person’s soul. Thus the Jews were always courting the Romans and pulling the levers of power. They schemed to get bigger and richer, bigger and richer. At the same time, with all their success, they came to believe in their own greatness. They honored the great teachers of their past and made the teachings of men to be more important than the Word of God. This is why all the higher-ups in the Church bureaucracy were convinced that Jesus could be nothing other than a false teacher. Jesus had healed people on the Sabbath. Jesus had cleared the Temple. He had said that he was God’s Son. That Jesus was no good was as clear to these highly educated men as 2+2=4. While these churchmen were absolutely convinced of their infallibility, they also engaged in wicked things. They were full of jealousy, strife, and covetousness. They went to old widows and convinced them to give all their money to the church in their slick and slimy ways. They cared nothing for the souls of people. All they cared about was themselves, their own comfort, and if there was anyone to blame, it certainly wasn’t them. It had to be the stupid laypeople who hadn’t learned all their special, manmade rules. Thus God’s Word was made of no effect. One of the things that surprised and impressed the people who heard Jesus’s teaching was that he actually had something meaningful to say. He spoke with authority. Jesus’s preaching bit into their lives instead of playing it safe and asking for more money like all the Pharisees and scribes did. Where God’s Word is transformed into a play-thing for the clergy it is no longer God’s Word that is being preached. Instead of God’s Word it becomes the church’s Word. This is a lot more common than you think. The church, however, should be silent in church. The church has no business preaching and teaching her own thing. The church is not the Savior of the body. Only our Lord Jesus Christ, the crucified and risen Son of God, is the Savior. The true Church, therefore, doesn’t want to hear the church’s Word. She only has one teacher—Jesus. She only has one Shepherd—Jesus. All the rest are thieves and robbers. In the Ten Commandments God says that those who misuse his name will not go away unpunished. There is no worse way to misuse God’s name than to claim to be speaking his Word, to claim that you are telling people what God’s will is, but to be telling them something that is not true. This is what the leaders of the Jewish people were doing. Therefore they are punished. Jesus says, “If you, yes you, had only known on this day the things that would bring peace to you. But now, it is hidden from your eyes.” Note the one who is doing the hiding. It’s God. Therefore, no amount of searching, no amount of tears, nothing that these people can do can change anything. God won’t let them see the things that will bring them everlasting peace. God has hardened and blinded them so that they could not repent even if they should want to. Every time we sin individually or corporately as a church body we are inviting God’s punishment upon us, the worst of which is the hardening of heart that Jesus curses Jerusalem with. This is the worst thing that can ever happen, for then it becomes totally impossible for people to achieve the end point of what we have been created to be. What I mean is that it is impossible for the person without faith to love the Lord our God with all their heart, soul, strength, and mind, and to love their neighbor. Instead they will be left in sin, in scratching each other’s eyes out, in hating the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. If this can happen to the Jews—that wonderful chosen race, the apple of God’s eye—then it most certainly can happen to us. The community of God at that time was the Jews. They had God’s Word. They had God’s promises. Salvation was received through those people preaching the Gospel. The Gospel has now come to us, but what is our spiritual state? How are things with us individually? Have we been obedient or have we sinned against our conscience? How are we as a congregation? Have we helped one another, encouraged one another, supported one another? Have we worked to bring about what is helpful for our faith life and removed from our midst whatever is not? How are we as a Synod? Have we brushed under the rug what should be dealt with in the light of day? Have we been filled with fear of the world’s scorn and condemnation? Have we been concerned with only visible, external success? Unless you have been hardened and blinded, you must see that we are as fully deserving of punishment as the Jews were at the time of Jesus. God already seems to be indicating that he is taking the light of his truth away from our people. Whole generations have been lost to unbelief and worldliness. These are our children and our grandchildren. But where are the hearts that are stirred? Who cries in anguish to our God? The tragedy of alienation from God makes little impression on us. Everything is not just fine with us. Do not listen to those lying prophets who say that we are living in the greatest time that has ever been. Do not listen to those lying prophets who say that religion is outdated or unimportant or a private matter or that we all believe in the same thing anyway. Each in his or her own way is saying “Peace, peace,” but there is no peace. They are all saying that there is nothing to be upset about. Life is carrying on as it always has. People are buying and selling, marrying and being given in marriage. They are all overlooking the way that our hearts are far from loving God. We love a lot of things, but God, God’s name, God’s Word. This, of course, is precisely the thing that comes naturally to all of us. Nobody has to try to ignore God or to love and worship other things besides him. We do that naturally. We must therefore become better Christians. Ironically, becoming a better Christian is to discount and despise one’s self—to disbelieve in one’s self with all your heart, and to rely entirely upon your God. The strength of God’s people, the strength of the community of believers, has always been the Holy Spirit who calls, gathers, enlightens, and sanctifies us together with Christ in the one true faith. God does not take delight in sacrifices or whole burnt offerings. The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit. A broken and contrite heart God will not despise. Pray for God’s kingdom to come. Pray for the Holy Spirit to reign and rule in your heart instead of your evil spirit. Let the words of your mouth and the meditation of your heart be acceptable in God’s sight. Be sanctified in the truth. God’s word is truth. I’ve told you today that there is no sadder story than the story of someone who loses his or her faith. It’s the tragedy of the Garden of Eden all over again. But Jesus tells us something remarkable about the opposite too. He says that the angels in heaven rejoice when just one sinner repents. The angels care more about someone repenting than they do about all the biggest news stories of our day. That is because something divine and eternal is going on in your heart when you believe that God has raised Jesus from the dead, and confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord. Therefore I have no doubt that the angels are watching us today, and surely God is taking notice. You who repent today and lift up your hearts unto the Lord—this is not without consequence. Repent of your evil ways and evil deeds. Turn to the Lord and he will heal us.
200426 Easter 3 Drive in Service audio200426 Easter 3 Order of ServiceSermon Manuscript:There are a lot of different voices that say, “Follow me!” Your financial adviser says, “Follow me; I’ll make you a lot of money.” Your professor says, “Follow me; I’ll lead you out of the darkness of superstition into the light of reason.” Your doctor says, “Follow me; I’ll make you healthy.” Your political candidate says, “Follow me; I’ll lead you into a better future.” There are a lot of such voices, and they do not all agree. One financial adviser says, “sell;” another says, “buy.” One professor says “study humanities,” another professor says, “humanities are a waste of time. You should study the STEM subjects.” One doctor says this medicine will work, another says it won’t. And as for the politicians, they talk as though they are worlds apart, but they all seem to be in the rich people’s pockets. This multitude of voices, all saying, “Follow me!” is part of the human condition. It goes all the way back to the earliest days of creation. Adam and Eve had heard a definite, “Follow me,” but they followed someone else instead. Adam and Eve’s descendants followed different voices. Their sons Abel and Seth followed in the paths of their parents, but Cain and his descendants did not. When you read this very early history of mankind in Genesis chapter 4, you find out that although Cain was a murderer and a vagabond, his descendants were great innovators. They discovered many things about agriculture, metallurgy. They were the first artists and musicians.Adam and Eve’s son, Seth, was born after Cain murdered his brother Abel. When Moses describes Seth and his descendants you don’t hear anything about innovations. All that you hear about them is that they called on the Name of the Lord. That means that they were preoccupied with what God had said to Adam, and they prayed, praised, and gave thanks. Whereas the family line of Cain culminates in Lamech bragging about how he has two wives instead of one, and that he would kick anybody’s butt who tried to stand up against him, the family line of Seth has its highpoint in Enoch. Enoch lived 365 years. Enoch walked with God. Then, Enoch was not there, for God took him. Enoch is one of the very few people who have been taken into heaven, body and soul, without experiencing the bitterness of death. What a contrast you see between these two! Lamech was a mover and a shaker. Nobody was going to tell him what’s what. Enoch’s outstanding feature was that he walked with God. God said to him, “Follow me,” and Enoch followed, until he was no more, for God took him.It is interesting that Moses wrote what he did about this earliest of all histories. In a sermon a while back I talked to you about how surprisingly honest the Scriptures are about the many embarrassing and shameful things that it records. There is no effort to clean up the family history. If anything, it seems that the Scriptures are determined to boast about the weaknesses of the people of God, for when we are weak, then we are strong. Same thing here. Moses lists the accomplishments and mountains of glory that Cain’s descendants were able to climb. At the least you might think that Moses should edit that out and be silent about it, but he doesn’t. Cain’s descendants were richer, smarter, and better looking than Seth’s descendants. The voices that Cain’s descendants listened to seemed to offer much better prospects for advancement and happiness and practicality than the Sethites’ “calling on the name of the Lord.”Here’s the thing, though: God’s people have never been at home in the business of salesmanship or propaganda. So much that passes for salesmanship and propaganda is lying and manipulation. The commercials that you see on TV lie to you and manipulate you. They tell you that if you follow them, and buy their product, you will be rich or beautiful or smart or whatever else. That is to say, if you follow them you will be happy. That is to say, if you follow them, you will be blessed—for that is the old fashioned word for “happiness.” God’s people have never had any business trying to shoehorn people into calling on the name of the Lord. Instead, there is to be open testimony to the truth. And this testimony doesn’t always produce faith. Paul openly admits this. He says that the word of Jesus’s cross is foolishness to those who are perishing. The Cainites are so busy feathering their own nests, following this technique and that technique. They know what’s what, but they can’t understand how somebody dying on a cross helps anybody. This distain for the usefulness of the Gospel is apparent in our times. In the light of the plague that has befallen us there is a lot of talk about what is “essential.” For many people—even most people—hearing the voice of the Good Shepherd is about as essential as a Lion’s club meeting or a support group. It is thought to have no power. Where the real power is supposed to be located is the in press conferences and scientific studies. These things have their place, just like your doctor’s advice for how to stay healthy, but Jesus’s call to follow him, to call on the name of the Lord, is above and beyond all other promises of happiness, of blessedness. How so? Jesus tells us: “I am the Good Shepherd. The Good Shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. All these other voices and leaders will quit when it is no longer advantageous to themselves. They refuse to suffer for the good of anybody besides themselves. Not so with me. I am the Good Shepherd. I know my own and my own know me, just as the Father knows me and I know the Father; and I lay my life down for the sheep.”Jesus, the Son of God, was under no compulsion to suffer and die under the wrath of God for the sins of the world. It wasn’t like he was trapped in a bad situation with no way out. He could have called down legions of angels to fight for him, but it was by his death that we poor sinners are set free from the curse of the Law that calls for our death. It was by Jesus’s resurrection that a happy life together with the Creator of the universe was promised for us, for atonement has been made for sin. This is the promise made all the way back in the Garden when God said that he would send his Son, born of the woman, born under the Law, to redeem us who are under the Law, so that we would receive adoption as sons. The serpent’s head was crushed by Jesus on the cross.and we were set free from our bondage to him to become children of God.Therefore, Jesus says, “Follow me, and you will be blessed. Follow me, and you will make your way through the wilderness of this world to the promised land of your inheritance that is flowing with milk and honey.” Your relationship with your God and your Creator is much more important than what is offered to you from all the other voices that are telling you to follow them. When this Shepherd knows you and you know this Shepherd, then even if you should walk through the valley of the shadow of death, you need not fear any evil, for he is with you. His rod and his staff comfort you. So if you are able to walk through the valley of the shadow of death together with this Good Shepherd, then what are all these other trials and tribulations in comparison to that? What is the loss of wealth or health, if, in his good time, all things are set right by his almighty power? Walk with God. Take up your cross and follow him. In time you will find that you have walked in the way that Enoch trod. What shall we say, then, about all these other voices? What shall we say about the concerns of agriculture, metallurgy, the arts and sciences? Does following the voice of the Good Shepherd not allow us to handle or touch such things? One group of Christians who takes a stand like that are the Amish. They have separated themselves by placing limits on what is godly to pursue or not pursue. While it seems as though this should make them immune from the idolatry of believing that we can fix everything ourselves, I’m not so sure that that is how it turns out in practice. The source of unbelief, the source of idolatry, is not in anything material. It comes from the devil and resides in the hearts and minds of sinners. God has not given us any commandments that say we can’t pursue agriculture, metallurgy, arts, and sciences. We should not make laws where God has not made laws. That being said, it is important for us to notice the difference between the descendants of Cain and the descendants of Seth. The descendants of Cain were living only for this world. They poured their heart and soul into being the most glorious creatures that they could make of themselves. They wanted with all their heart to be rich and famous. They were seeking after a kind of immortality, but not an immortality that is life together with their Creator God. The immortality that they were seeking after was to be remembered fondly by their descendants, to have their life celebrated, and, for the most ambitious among them, to be written into the history books. The descendants of Seth were not totally different from the descendants of Cain. They also had to make their way through this world. They had to sew and reap and gather into barns. They were married and being given in marriage. They bought and sold and fixed problems. But they did not have the same perspective. They did not look at the things of this world or their own glory and success as the most important things. They valued calling on the name of the Lord as their highest ambition. They were more eager to please God than they were to make a buck. They knew that their time on this earth was temporary. They saw themselves as strangers here; heaven was their home. This should be our perspective too. We should think of ourselves as though we are living in a hotel instead of a permanent home. You stay in a hotel for some time, but when it’s time to check out, your heart isn’t wrapped up in the hotel room. You don’t weep when you have to check out. That is how we should be in this world. Our heart should not be wrapped up in glory or progress or any of the false gods that promise us blessing. Our hearts should be wrapped up in our Creator God. He has redeemed us to set us free from all the evil that so mercilessly afflicts us in this life. Not only will we be set free from getting old, from disasters, from diseases, from disappointments; we will also be set free from our own evil hearts and minds. Instead, we will be filled with love for God and for our neighbor. There is so much in us that is dreadfully unattractive and evil. We are being set free from that to follow the pattern set by our Lord Jesus. It is a tragedy, a very deep tragedy, when people are taken in by the voices that promise them blessing to the exclusion of the voice of our Good Shepherd. The voices of the false gods are judgmental and harsh and demanding. They require every fiber of your being in order to achieve success. And what are you left with in the end? Even if you should end up becoming the best athlete, the richest businessman, the famous actor or actress, the powerful politician—what are you left with after following these voices with all your heart? You end up moldering in a grave somewhere, which is bad enough. What’s worse is that by unbelief you will be alienated from God—his enemy, because you did not believe in the only begotten Son whom he has sent. The Good Shepherd is different. Instead of you serving him, he serves you. He leads you into good pasture and peaceful waters. He calms you. He gives you a place in the house of the Lord forever by laying down his life for you. Jesus is a good God. Follow him, and you will be blessed forever.

The legacy of Adam is revisited in many ways in the account of Noah. As Noah's final days are documented in Genesis 9, the similarities are only magnified. This reality introduces a somber tone in the post-flood narrative. No sooner has man inhabited the renewed earth than the corruption of his nature rears its ugly head once again. Noah and Adam share many parallel aspects... They both tend a new world garden, both have received a cultural mandate/vocational call to stewardship, Both have encountered the Word of God in covenantal context, both share a federal headship role... yet sadly both fall into sin through consumption (food and drink), both are exposed in their nakedness, both witness antithesis in their posterity, both receive a covering, Cainites and Canaanites are cursed, Seth and Shem are elect line children. These similarities are telling as the reader considers the messianic question: “Will this new Adam figure prove faithful to the covenant where the first Adam failed?” All mankind shares this Noahic heritage and as such, the legacy established in these moments of earth history are telling markers for the future of all humanity... What happens next will signal a trajectory for mankind's future...
