Lisa had a French assignment due on Sunday evening. She had to choose a poem from Book IV of Victor Hugo's Contemplations and then send in a ten-minute audio file in which she presented the poem, explained her choice, read the poem and finally suggested a parallel with a painting. All the poems in the collection deal with the same subject: the disappearance of Victor Hugo's daughter, Léopoldine, and how sad this death made him. The poem Lisa chose was entitled ‘A quoi songeaient les deux cavaliers dans la forêt' (‘What were the two horsemen thinking about in the forest'). It was Sunday afternoon and I wanted to take a nap after my Nordic walking session, but Lisa wanted to read me her assignment before recording it. She was annoyed because she hadn't found a painting, but a piece of music to go with it. In the notes accompanying the transcript, we're going to look at liaisons in French. When do we do them? When don't we? And so on. Liaisons are particularly important in poetry, because they sometimes make it possible to obtain the required number of feet, for example to form an alexandrine. But what about in everyday life? We'll be comparing the liaisons in today's text and in Victor Hugo's poem. Book IV of Plato's longest dialogue, The Laws, places the spotlight on the qualities of virtuous leadership as the three characters - the unnamed Athenian, Clinias from Crete, and Megillus from Sparta - discuss the establishment of Crete's new colony. The skill of the leader, says the Athenian, must help guide the colony through the risks and rewards of chance and opportunity. These, he says, reign supreme in the universe where God, not man, is the measure of all things. A spirited discussion ensued when members of the Toronto, Calgary, and Chicago Philosophy Meetup groups convened on April 28, 2024. We brought the themes of The Laws squarely into the 21st century, as participants raised similarities between the discussion written 2,400 years ago and the current global political situation. One member recalled that God, as defined in Book X, is Reason, and Reason is both the origin and middle of the universe. We discussed the possible benefits of the lengthy justifications of laws that the Athenian introduces. We also noted that at several points Book IV reminds us that the colony will embody a mixture of political styles, partially democratic and partially monarchical, like the constitutions of Crete and Sparta which are the homes of two of the three characters.

The Law of One Tarot is a unique tarot deck that has its roots in the famous book series, the Law of One. The unconscious is indeed what may be poetically described as High Priestess, for it is the Potentiator of the Mind and as potentiator for the mind is that principle which potentiates all experience.  - Law of One, Book IV, Session 78.32   The card signifies the journey of the mind towards enlightenment, potentiating as it lights the paths for wisdom and knowledge on the right hand. It signifies the beginning stages of spiritual growth, where the mind is open and receptive to new information, as initiated through the removal of the shroud, the unveiling of cover as it brings light and clarity in vision. The highlighted keywords succinctly captures its essence. The Potentiator of the Mind is associated with the mental plane and the realm of thoughts and ideas.   The primary purpose of this card is to help users overcome mental obstacles and broaden their thinking. It encourages its users to think outside the box and seek new perspectives. The card also heightens the user's intuition and strengthens their ability to make better judgments. The Potentiator of the Mind is also associated with the concept of transformation, as it is the great potentiator that supports Creation itself. The card encourages users to embrace change and move forward with confidence as they embark on their spiritual journey. It signifies the importance of introspection and self-reflection in personal development.    The path begins with internal influence and then radiates to the external. The mind potentiates the mind. This lays the foundation on how best to serve others. In conclusion, The Potentiator of the Mind card is a powerful tool for personal growth and transformation.
