Today, we're going to talk about bullet failures. Bullet failures are a hot topic, especially when they involve certain, very polarizing bullets and/or cartridges. I absolutely believe they do occur, but I think they get blamed unfairly for a lot of wounded and lost game. I can't tell you how many people I've had tell me they made a perfect shot, but the bullet “blew up on the shoulder” and the animal ran off, never to be seen again. Like I said, bullet failures do occur though and I've compiled a giant list of those sorts of stories to share with you in this episode.  Please hit that “SUBSCRIBE” or “FOLLOW” button in your podcast app to receive future episodes automatically! Other topics covered include increasing the minimum age for trapping in New Jersey, an update on the mountain lion controversy in Montana and Washington state, an update on the Arkansas General Assembly budget issue, and a special award presented by Dallas Safari Club honoring CSF President and CEO Jeff Crane.    Takeaways The House Natural Resources Committee held a hearing on four bills related to coastal and estuary resilience, mapping public lands, fisheries data modernization, and vessel speed rules for North Atlantic right whales. The Supreme Court ruling on Chevron could have significant ramifications for fisheries management and may require Congress to be more specific in writing bills. The Fisheries Data Modernization Accuracy Act aims to improve recreational harvest data collection and incorporate alternative management approaches in the Magnuson-Stevens Fishery Conservation and Management Act framework. A bill has been introduced to delay changes to the vessel speed rule for North Atlantic right whales and establish a program to study and implement technological solutions. In South Africa and Namibia though there are bastions where Rhino's are flourishing and breeding and their population is increasing. These places tend to be tied with private hunting concessions. Why is this the case? The value that hunting, and in some places hunting Rhino's brings, allows these animals to be protected. The wild sheep across North America, once in large numbers, were decimated by domestic sheep introduction through the spread of disease. Facing such a tremendous decline and numerous other issues, the Wild Sheep Foundation has stepped up to the plate through the support of hunters, researchers and numerous state agencies to help put these majestic animals back where they belong. Please join us as Gray and I go through the history of the wild sheep and we learn about the research and reintroduction of these animals back into their native ranges.
