Episode 167 tackles the challenge of cockpit organization with real solutions from three very different flying setups.Brian's still battling the conspiracy to prevent his instrument checkride (spoiler: UPS trucks and snow banks are involved), while Ted shares wisdom from his Miata-sized cockpit about 3D-printed organizers, strategic cup holder placement, and why everything needs "ONE home." Ben discovers that big game hunting expos are surprisingly good aviation networking venues. From Pivot cases and pulse oximeters to the life-or-death importance of proper seatbelt clipping, plus listener feedback that sparks a deeper discussion about test scores and aviation's competitive culture. Because when you're hand-flying an approach in the clouds and ATC changes your clearance, you need to be flying the airplane, not managing your mess.Features the guys' real-world tips for everything from "hard-wired" Stratus installations to keeping cash hidden in baggage organizers for emergency out-calls. Send us a textThe passionate defense of conservation through hunting takes center stage as we welcome Rob McCanna, CEO of Dallas Safari Club (DSC). Rob's journey from small-town Pennsylvania outdoorsman to conservation leader reveals how a childhood connection to nature evolved into a mission to protect wildlife worldwide.Dallas Safari Club might sound like a local hunting club, but don't let the name fool you. This powerhouse conservation organization operates globally with 27 chapters across America and international expansion on the horizon. Through their foundation, DSC awards millions in grants supporting wildlife research, habitat management, anti-poaching initiatives, and human-wildlife conflict mitigation worldwide. The conversation tackles misconceptions head-on, particularly around African hunting. Rob shares a stunning statistic: not a single species faces extinction due to trophy hunting in Africa. Instead, the economic value created through regulated hunting provides crucial funding for habitat preservation and gives local communities alternatives to poaching or converting wilderness to agriculture.Education emerges as a cornerstone of DSC's mission. Their partnership with the Outdoor Tomorrow Foundation brings conservation curriculum into middle and high schools nationwide, rekindling connections to nature that modern life often severs. As Rob notes, "When you take people out and expose them to hunting, shooting, fishing, you immediately see the impact it has on them."Looking ahead, Rob invites listeners to the upcoming DSC Expo and Gala in July at the Gaylord Texan Resort—where a special announcement will unveil the organization's next conservation initiative. With membership options starting at just $250 for three years (currently including a custom knife worth $300), supporting wildlife conservation has never been more accessible.Visit biggame.org to discover how hunters worldwide are uniting to ensure wild places and species thrive for generations to come. As Rob puts it, DSC brings together "like-minded people with one thing in mind, and that's how to help."Check us out on Facebook and instagram Hunts On Outfitting, and also our YouTube page Hunts On Outfitting Podcast. This week's Sportsmen's Voice Roundup lead story with returning guest and CSF Senior Director, Fisheries Policy to cover the recent House Natural Resources Committee hearing on a package of four bills ranging from coastal and estuary resilience, to mapping public waters, to fisheries data modernization, and the ever-controversial vessel speed rules for North Atlantic right whales - along with a brief discussion on the recent Supreme Court ruling on Chevron and its potential impact on fisheries management. Other topics covered include increasing the minimum age for trapping in New Jersey, an update on the mountain lion controversy in Montana and Washington state, an update on the Arkansas General Assembly budget issue, and a special award presented by Dallas Safari Club honoring CSF President and CEO Jeff Crane.    Takeaways The House Natural Resources Committee held a hearing on four bills related to coastal and estuary resilience, mapping public lands, fisheries data modernization, and vessel speed rules for North Atlantic right whales. The Supreme Court ruling on Chevron could have significant ramifications for fisheries management and may require Congress to be more specific in writing bills. The Fisheries Data Modernization Accuracy Act aims to improve recreational harvest data collection and incorporate alternative management approaches in the Magnuson-Stevens Fishery Conservation and Management Act framework. A bill has been introduced to delay changes to the vessel speed rule for North Atlantic right whales and establish a program to study and implement technological solutions. Other topics discussed include increasing the minimum age for trapping, mountain lions in Montana and Washington state, an update on the Arkansas General Assembly budget issue, and the honoring of CSFPresident and CEO Jeff Crane.   Get the FREE Sportsmen's Voice e-publication in your inbox every Monday: www.congressionalsportsmen.org/newsletter Learn more about your ad choices. Rhinos are one of the most endangered species on the planet that are still hunted in places. Oh man! How can you do that? How can you hunt an endangered species? Isn't that illegal? There are lots of questions that surround Rhinos - but one specifically that keeps coming up - are Rhino populations decreasing because of hunting? Rhino's are being absolutely decimated from poaching throughout Southern Africa. In South Africa and Namibia though there are bastions where Rhino's are flourishing and breeding and their population is increasing. These places tend to be tied with private hunting concessions. Why is this the case? The value that hunting, and in some places hunting Rhino's brings, allows these animals to be protected. Security around Rhinos is incredibly expensive endeavor that is a 365 day, 24 hr, 7 day a week job. Learn the truth here in under 4 minutes!
