Its Sci-fi Western month here at WWT podcast! Today were talking about:2004's Dead Birds where William (Henry Thomas), a Confederate soldier, has gone AWOL with a crew of other men. As the group, among it a runaway slave (Isaiah Washington) and a nurse (Nicki Aycox), makes its way along, it stops off to rob a bank clean. Looking to plan a getaway, the gang heads into an empty house to hole up for the evening. As the soldiers start arguing with one another, strange things begin happening in the house -- and everyone in the group soon realizes that the place is haunted. If you guys have any request for future movie request please send us an emailat whowatchesthispodcast@gmail.com - Theme Music -Lee Rosevere - Arcade Montage - Music For Podcast 3https://leerosevere.bandcamp.com/ Join the FB group page:https://www.facebook.com/WhoWatchesThisPodcast/YOUTUBE CHANNEL for commentary on shows and movies:https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCrexJV9qExxnAz45E0AJQMw
Comedian, writer, and artist Julie Mitchell and I get on like gangbusters in this episode that easily could have gone twice as long. The whole conversation felt like unhinging a release valve for me, despite taking on one of my toughest challenges yet as a host: Julie has a definitive coma moment, but it's too raw and unresolved for her to go into detail. How do you talk about a moment that changed you when you can't talk about the moment itself? You talk about the changes!Content warning: musical improv, rape jokes, Long COVID, Palestine, big "T" vs. little "t" trauma, vulnerability requires anonymity, Maya Shetreat, the Psychedelic Assembly, crowdwork in standup comedy, Pigeon Feathers, finally getting the movie Magnolia. If you believe in This Is Your Afterlife and want fun bonus episodes, become a patron for $5 or $15/month at patreon.com/davemaher. This week I speak with Jingmai O'Connor (Staff Page | Instagram), Associate Curator of Fossil Reptiles (a.k.a. Priestess of Dead Dino-Birds) at The Field Museum in Chicago, about the magnificent strangeness of Mesozoic flying reptiles, the perverse anthropology of paleontologists, and much else. Contrary to expectations for a show with “fossils” in its title, I don't ordinarily interview people who actually dig up prehistoric creatures, but as I make perhaps too obvious in this enthusiastic get-to-know-each-other session, I still care deeply for the treasured mysteries that lie in store beneath our feet and love the people who devote their lives to studying the ancient biosphere — even if the system's crooked and we fight about as much as dinosaurs themselves. Here's to Jingmai and her singular life and mind! Do yourself a favor and acquire her book When Dinosaurs Conquered The Skies, truly a treat for all ages, and then if you want to leap like Microraptor into the thicket of her publications you can scope her work on Google Scholar. This week on The Diamond Duo Podcast, Tom and Tony manage to not bring up the A's nearly as much this week, but rather trade that off for a healthy helping of Yankees banter - principally their war of pettiness with the Blue Jays over the course of their series. The Yanks don't hog the spotlight forever though, as it was also a weird stretch for the Mets, whose week was defined by an opposing team's logo on their screen, an FCC violation, and an ill-advised move for Gary Sanchez (which is now made null with time). After wrapping up the rest of the news highlighted by Trevor Bauer, Glen Kuiper, Anibal Sanchez, and multiple accounts of baseball on bird violence, the duo gets into the main attraction of this week: the ranking of the worst Yankee moves of the 21st century. In honor of the DFA of Aaron Hicks, listen as Tom and Tony relive the horrors of Bronx Bombers past on Episode 64 of The Diamond Duo Podcast! Nightmare Magazine - Horror and Dark Fantasy Story Podcast (Audiobook | Short Stories)
The first time I saw him, I was crouched in a ditch by the highway, lancet poised, holding a crumbly-paged book open to the words to reanimate a dead owl. Anne leaned against our dad's old car on the shoulder, just a few feet past the impromptu memorial some of Mom and Dad's students had put up. The flowers were wilting and the photos were fading, just like our parents' ghosts in the ditch where they'd died. I walked all up and down it, grasses itching at my legs despite my jeans. | Copyright 2022 by Laura Blackwell. Narrated by Judy Young.

Marking World Migratory Bird Day (October 10th), today meet Heidi Trudell, an architectural consultant, from Michigan in the USA. Heidi advises the building industry and homeowners about the changes they can make to reduce the incidence of deaths and serious injuries to birds by colliding with glass and reflective surfaces. It is estimated that up to a billion birds worldwide meet their end this way annually. It is avoidable, and Heidi is working hard to greatly reduce this number.
