What’s Trending: Republicans are calling out FEMA’s response to Hurricane Helene and blasting the Biden Administration for diverting disaster relief funds towards illegal immigrants. A claim that the administration says is false. West Seattle’s ‘Easy Street Records’ had a horrible weekend when their store flooded due to a burst pipe and they had a break-in. Former Trump lawyer Michael Cohen made the wild claim that if Trump is elected he will round up his political opponents. // Big Local: The Edmonds city government is facing a budget crisis of about $13 million. Thurston County Sheriff Derek Sanders was struck by an allegedly drunk driver. This is the second time he has been in a collision. Snohomish County has an initiative on the ballot to raise its sales tax to fund public safety. // A North Carolina woman lost 35 pounds by only eating one food.
Over the weekend a pipe burst over at the iconic Easy Street Records in West Seattle, causing thousands of dollars worth of damage. We talk with owner Matt Vaughan about the damage and how you can help!
Jason and Paul welcome filmmaker Ryan Cory to the show to discuss his career directing, producing, and editing all kinds of videos for brands from Microsoft to Easy Street Records, artists, photographers, and bands...like Pearl Jam! Ryan has produced documentaries on Lance Mercer, Danny Clinch and has a new one debuting at the 2024 Seattle International Film Festival entitled Dumble: A Life Well-Built featuring Ben Harper and a very special guitar amplifier. We recorded this episode with Ben Gibbard and Lori LeFavor before a live audience at Easy Street Records in West Seattle on August 1, 2024. Lori LeFavor is the most prolific all-ages concert promoter in Seattle--and perhaps the US. Starting from age 17 and over the next 30 years, Lori hosted more than 3,000 shows across the Northwest. Her home base during the 90s was RKCNDY, a much-loved all-ages venue where she hosted every major (and minor) band of the era. And she did it all as an independent, woman-owned business. Ben Gibbard is the lead singer, songwriter and bandleader of Death Cab for Cutie and the Postal Service. Before he sold millions of records and toured the world with his bands, he started playing music and going to shows as a teenager growing up in Bremerton, WA, across the Puget Sound from Seattle. He's been an advocate for all-ages music ever since and remains one to this day. We can only make podcasts like Let the Kids Dance! because listeners support us. You have the power! FASTBACKS aka THE FASTBACKS are releasing their first album in 25 years (!!!) this week, so I had them up to the studio to chat about it, play some songs from the album and promote their upcoming album release party at Easy Street Records. Fastbacks forever!

It's not a stretch to say that when you think of Vegas, usually the first thing that comes to mind is gambling. Funny enough, gambling would be a major theme of this night back in 2006. Branden Palomo from the Better Band Podcast joins us as our guest to help us relive this one. The first major gamble of the night came right away opening out the show with emotional cut Inside Job. It was a risk the band hadn't taken with the song up until that point, and although it paid off, we discussed how much it affected the feel of the early set. Another gamble here? Well, you'll have to listen to this unique version of Garden that around the ranks has been labeled "Sound Garden". We describe it as Beethoven meets Phantom of the Opera and it's something that you certainly wouldn't hear in a version nowadays. The biggest gamble of the night however (outside of a jacket that Eddie donned while covering Elvis' Little Sister) was Eddie taking a gamble on his voice which he claimed was stifling him on multiple occasions. You'll be able to tell at times that Ed is having some difficulties, but only if you're listening for it. It was a situation where if he had not complained about it or made fewer mentions than he did, you would never have known he was having an off night. We stressed this fact throughout the entire episode. Hey, Patreon donors! We'll have a new episode this week! It might be a week late, but we promised we'd get you the Easy Street Records show and we're making good on that promise! It'll hopefully be published this weekend. This episode will be exclusive to Patron donors, if you'd like to become a Patron head on over to http://patreon.com/liveon4legs to help out the show. In return, you'll get monthly exclusive episodes as well as a chance to join us on an episode and talk about your favorite live show! Can't find a better deal!
This episode celebrates the 25th anniversary of the Orpheum Theater show – a classic show that many hold in high regard still to this day. It's a unique and rare set, especially for the time period, that was created by none other than the band's crew. Uncommon and lesser known songs such as Hard To Imagine and Dirty Frank were busted out while getting some pre-Vitalogy tracks in there such as Tremor Christ, Better Man and Not For You as well. A moment that sticks out from this show which turns into a bit of a debate is the appearance of Vitalogy staple Immortality. It was only the second time performed live and it was in the days following Kurt Cobain's death. We've always heard that Immortality wasn't written intentionally about Kurt, but considering the time period and how the music world was grieving his death, the song's words hold even more weight. Words you say? Of course, this was the version of Immortality that was in the early stages in its lyrical composition that doesn't have the same chilling lyrics as we've grown to know from the album. With all that being said, debate still came up on whether this was an important moment in the band's history and whether or not it should be considered a legendary performance. There are two different schools of thought discussed, so getcha popcorn ready. Outside of all that, there's also an incredible version of I've Got A Feeling played at this show that lasted for about 15 minutes or so. We won't play all of it for you, but we'll give you enough to leave you happy! So even though we promised a Patreon episode for you this week featuring the Easy Street Records show, we're unfortunately not going to be able to get it to you in the timely manner we promised. We're hoping that middle of next week we'll have it ready, so hold tight Patrons! If this is an episode you'd like to hear, sign up and donate to our Patreon account here at patreon.com/liveon4legs to help out the show. A donation not only gets you monthly exclusive episode content, but it also gives you an opportunity to join us on an episode and talk about YOUR favorite show! I have five words to sell you on this episode: Stone Gossard shows his breasts. Yes, this is something that happened. Unfortunately, no one caught this clearly on video so you will have to take John Farrar's word on it. He attended the show and joined us as a guest. So... why did Stone reveal his nipples to a Charlotte crowd? After Ed speaks proudly of the band's touring album Lightning Bolt spending 2 straight weeks as the highest selling record, he claims they didn't have to show their tits in order to do it. With possibly a little egging on from our guest who happened to be on the rail that night, Stone obliges and makes sure that the band would have the top selling album for 3 straight weeks. Outside of some major Gossard boobage, this was a solid show that seems to get overlooked by other Lightning Bolt tour shows that surrounded it. The band debuted opening track Getaway on this night which brings up good debate on why the song was a bit of a disappointment as a live track. This show also closes out with an uncommon appearance of All Along The Watchtower. We're getting closer to record store day, so that means our Easy Street Records episode will be hitting Patreon next week! In this episode Trent talks about his trip to Seattle to see the reunion of Temple of the Dog. The Paramount Theater hosted the highly sought after ticket, and we talk about the vibe, the set list, Chris Cornell's amazing homage to Andrew Wood's Mother Love Bone songs, Mike McCready's greatness, the crowd reaction, meeting people from all over the place, and more. Trent also talks about other points in his trip that included a visit to Easy Street Records in West Seattle to see Jeff Ament's MLB mural, a trip to the grave site memorial of the immortal Jimi Hendrix, and talk about another rousing Steell Panther show at the Showbox. We then get into talk about Metallica's great new album. We gave our first reaction on youtube, but now that we have had some time to let it sink in we give some new thoughts. High praise for Kirk's solo writing, the riffs, the magic of sounding like all eras of Metallica, praise for Rob, and more... we also play a badass song from Screaming Red Mutiny and talk a bit about the great band out of Oklahoma, and talk about Winger coming to Tulsa in 2017. Thank you for listening, and please share!

he Jordan Cook AKA Reignwolf crazy buzz started almost two years ago with a stunning in-store performance at Easy Street Records in Seattle and an equally stunning performance at Sasquatch! and Bumbershoot 2012 and Sasquatch! 2013. Mr. Cook is wowing fans across the land with his electric and intense showmanship. Reignwolf is an artist in perpetual motion and there is no stage or space that can contain him. This is one wild wolf that can’t be caged and consumes anything and everything in his path. He does his thing live, large and walks a musical tightrope without a net. On this week’s episode of SMI Radio I chat with Reignwolf to talk about his style is approach to his live performances and his blues-based, gritty, raw Americana rock sound. Back in the 1990′s band’s like Nirvanna, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam and Screaming Trees helped lead a rock and roll revolution and collectively contributed to putting Seattle on the music map. Another Seattle rock outfit called Truly earned a ton of respect but their sound defied the grunge classification. Truly featured former Screaming Trees skin pounder, Mark Pickerel, former Soundgarden bassist, Hiro Yamamoto and the smooth yet menacing voice and overdriven guitar stylings of Robert Roth. The power-trio was first championed in the 90′s by DJ and tastemaker, Marco Collins while he was on air at 107.7 The End. The band’s first full length record and sonic masterpiece Fast Stories From Kid Coma released on Capital Records garnered praises from MTV and Steve Kurutz of Allmusic. Kurutz gave the album four and a half stars, calling it “a loosely based concept album. After a several year hiatus, Truly is back and will help celebrate The Moe 20 Neumos 10th Anniversary Shows on Sunday, January 12 at 6:00pm
