Next up on the Pearl Jam 2025 tour is a stop in Raleigh, North Carolina. This is a destination that hasn't been played since this show we're covering in 2003, but that was never originally planned to be the case. On the 2016 tour, a show in Raleigh was cancelled due to the band's opposition to the HB2 law that discriminated against transgender people. It was something that caused a bit of commotion within this fanbase, and we'll get into all of what happened nine years ago, but after the bill was overturned the band felt they needed to make it up to this Raleigh crowd. And if this 2003 show is any indication, they might be in for a good one. 2003 is a favorite tour year for many due to the band truly elevating their game to the next level. Setlists started to become very fan friendly and collector heavy, Mike McCready became the showman that we know of him today, and no two shows were even close to the same. If you like Riot Act heavy shows, this is a good one for you. The deeper cuts such as Help Help, Cropduster and You Are are brought out here and all sound fresh for the same. Save You, I Am Mine and Love Boat Captain are also major highlights from this show, and you can tell which ones are gonna stick around throughout the duration of this North American run. There's also a great run at this show featuring four straight Vitalogy era songs, and we'll get into why these songs together may feel like a mini rock opera. Check out the episode for the full rundown of the setlist, a little talk of what's been going on out on tour and a few stories from the Florida shows and the 2003 Evolution yips! 1994 was a notable year for Pearl Jam as they spent March and April touring the midwest and the northeast in support of their Vs. record. During this time they were arguably considered to be the biggest band in America, which meant that tickets for their shows were in high demand, but it was mainly due to their decision to play smaller venues. As it was tougher for fans to get their hands on tickets, scalpers were starting to become an issue. This show we're covering comes from Purdue University where the big story is centered around scalpers and a situation that led to a bomb threat being called in prior to the show's start. While the bomb threat was certainly a scare in the moment, all it did was motivate the band. Once it was safe to go back in and start the show, they brought their a-game to the stage. These performances define the intensity of the era as nearly every song features Ed's screeching vocals piercing through the speakers, Stone's hypnotic groove finding it's sweet spot, and Mike's superior talent on display. We'll discuss some of the best of the era such as Go, Animal, Daughter, Black, Garden and Porch. We'll also get a taste of Vitalogy with very early performances of Tremor Christ and Not For You. We're two weeks away from our first show of 2025, so we'll kick off the episode with some of our thoughts about what's happening in Pearl Jam world at this current time, and we'll talk about a man who goes by the name Frank X who may or may not be a lizard king faking his death! Escucharemos Last Exit, Spin the Black Circle, Not For You, Tremor Christ, Nothingman, Whipping, Pry, To, Corduroy, Bugs, Satan's Bed, Better Man, Aye Davanita, Immortality y Hey Foxymophandlemama, That's Me. Recuerden que nuestros programas los pueden escuchar también en: Nuestra web https://ecosdelvinilo.com/ La Música del Arcón - FM 96.9 (Buenos Aires, Argentina) miércoles 18:00 (hora Arg.) There are plenty of milestone anniversaries in Pearl Jam history that we have to celebrate in 2025 - the 25th anniversary of the Binaural tour and the 20th anniversary of the 2005 Canadian leg come to mind, but one of the big anniversaries that we'll be digging into this year is the 30th anniversary of the legendary 1995 Vitalogy tour. This was a year of classic shows and moments from places like Red Rocks and Soldier Field, and in this episode we'll cover the show that kicks off a big year of touring - a Vote For Choice show in Washington DC. There are so many storylines that we have to cover in this one because of all the events that were happening in Pearl Jam's world at the time. There's the scarcity of tickets for this show where you had to send in a postcard to the Ten Club just to enter a lottery, Self Pollution Radio was broadcast a few days prior to this show happening that gave the audience a sneak peak as to how those Vitalogy songs that were all played on the Vs. tour were gonna sound polished up. This is considered to be the first show where Jack Irons is an official band member, and perhaps the biggest storyline is Neil Young's involvement and this stretch of shows ultimately leading to the recording of the Mirrorball record. This show will end with Neil joining the stage to play their first ever version of Act Of Love days after Neil played it with Crazy Horse at the Rock 'N' Roll Hall Of Fame induction. We'll talk about how important that record was for the band and how Neil's influence has stuck with the group ever since. In today's episode we're joined by Brian Horwitz from the Hallucinogenic Recipe podcast, and we'll get to talking about the circulation of this bootleg and some of the other popular 1995 bootlegs, and we'll discuss what boots were must owns once everything digitized in the 2000s. Happy New Year to the Pearl Jam Podcast Community! 2025 is set to be another great year for the band on tour in April and May, and hopefully more will get announced at some point soon. To kick off the year, we are gonna finish our look back on 2024 by covering the highly talked about tour closer in Sydney. With a plethora of storylines leading up to the show, such as the 30th anniversary of Vitalogy's release, expectations were high for the final night on the 2024 Dark Matter tour, and as per usual, the band delivered something memorable. It was the type of show that you'd call a kitchen sink show incorporating songs that had barely been brought to the table last year such as Brain Of J, In Hiding, Tremor Christ, Save You, Dissident and Alone. But the big story from that night overpowers all of the clutch deep cuts because for the first time in ten years, the band decided to pull out Hunger Strike. It had been seven and a half years since Chris Cornell's death, a subject that Eddie Vedder has rarely addressed publicly. But there is more behind this performance than just playing a famed song from their past. We'll get into details of how Ed had seemed to open up a little more about his relationship with Chris, and how this moment in Sydney was seen from a therapeutic standpoint, having the crowd pitch in and help out in the roles meant for Cornell. A powerful moment, and one that will be remembered for decades onward. We'll also hear from our Aussie crew who helped out on our reaction episodes for the run down there, we'll hear a story about a boy who challenged Eddie to rock, paper, scissors, and we'll also share some news and changes about the podcast in effect for 2025. We've come to the end of Pearl Jam's 2024 Dark Matter tour, and our final destination of the year is Sydney, Australia. We go back to a show from 1995 in this episode to get you hyped up for the last shows. This was on the band's first ever tour of Australia, so they are familiarizing themselves with this crowd and territory. Not to mention, this was at a time when the band went on hiatus from TicketMaster, and there was a ticket situation surrounding scalpers from this show that we'll get into detail on. We know the drill. It's the Vitalogy tour. The performances are explosive, gritty and loud. While Ed was dealing with a sore throat at this show, it didn't hinder versions of fan favorites such as Go, Spin The Black Circle, Corduroy, Not For You and Porch. This show also took place on Jeff's birthday, so we get a big cake celebration and an appearance from a Chili Pepper to cause chaos. Flea joins the band on stage to play a very unique rendition of Needle And The Damage Done on bass with no accompanyment from Pearl Jam. After next week, we'll be busy covering the best shows of 2024! Don't forget to vote via our social media pages for which shows you'd like to hear us talk about in December! This week's episode focuses on Tom Petty's Wildflowers, TLC's CrazySexyCool, Pearl Jam's Vitalogy, The Woodstock '94 Compilation, Nirvana's Unplugged, and Mariah Carey's Christmas album. We also ponder whether or not Christmas lights for hire is aligned with the nostalgic Christmas spirit. Fun chat!
Wellness + Wisdom | Episode 686 How can emotional triggers act as teachers, guiding you toward self-mastery? Mark Groves joins Josh Trent on the Wellness + Wisdom Podcast, episode 686, to share why emotional trauma is an initiation into personal growth, how unresolved wounds shape relationships and behavior, and why healing involves setting boundaries and building emotional resilience for healthier connections. "Behind every trigger is an opportunity for mastery. When you are triggered, there's an opportunity for you to learn a skill set, but also expand your capacity to hold the trigger because there's information there." - Mark Groves
We're getting you prepped up for Pearl Jam's second North American leg of the Dark Matter tour by once again featuring shows in the locations that they'll be playing. First up is a hometown show for Mr. Jeff Ament as we cover the Missoula show from 1995. This is the beginning of the Vitalogy era and is the send off show before they embarked on a trip through the Pacific Rim. As always with this era, this show is all about Jack Irons leading the charge. His time in the band was still in its infancy, but you can see the direction that the band wanted to go with him. While the brand new Vitalogy songs were squarely in the forefront, it pushed aside songs from Ten that had been extremely popular only three years prior. There's only two songs from Ten in this show (feel free to include State Of Love And Trust from the time period) and the way those songs were attacked was in a way to trying something different to make them feel fresh. Porch was lifted from it's normal closing role to the fifth spot in the set that saw it's typically iconic live solo abridged, Even Flow experimented with a new intro and pieces of the song that strayed from the radio version, and SOLAT is a completely different monster that they did not continue moving forward with. This show also has killer versions of Spin The Black Circle, Immortality and one of three full versions of W.M.A. that Jack has played on. Also, we have a song that's a Live On 4 Legs first at this show! Javier's segment will focus on that incredibly insane version of W.M.A. and we invite one half of the Hallucinogenic Recipe podcast, Patrick Boegel, to break down the circulation of the bootleg tape from this show. Compared to MOST years since the seventies, 1994 gave us so much more than most -- a year of some of the finest albums in rock, and one of the most impacting years in music. This is the podcast version of Jeff's weekly music radio show, charting around the world and enjoyed by music fans who love to hear what made artists tick, plus the stories behind the songs. This episode features an excerpt from Jeff's conversation with Jeff Buckley's mother, about her working with Chris Cornell to preserve the legacy of Buckley's music, plus we're hitting on all the heavy records of '94 from Grace to Superunknown, Vitalogy,The Division Bell, Wildflowers, Definitely Maybe, and so much more. Chris breaksdown...the new Pearl Jam album, then praises their best album ever, Vitalogy. Kris agrees as usual. Kris thinks gambling has gone too far when Dave & Buster get involved. We go over and bemoan the NBA playoffs and the inept refs. Do we really care who won the MVP voting (please say no, please). We point out the BS about BS and then praise Candace Parker. Finally Chris almost spoils the ending to the show Sugar. Oh it's a doozy!
Yasi and Kevin return this week to find Pearl Jam on the verge of falling apart (spoiler alert: they didn't). We pick back up as the band enters the studio to record the excellent “Vitalogy.” Ticketmaster emerges as the band's foil, and Neil Young continues to be one of the band's greatest allies. It's a big week here on the podcast with lots to celebrate! It's Dark Matter week! Coming off the heels of the film experience, we'll share our instant reaction to listening to the album in that environment including what songs we've gravitated towards, and what we're excited to hear live. Keep in mind that the Live On 4 Legs listening party will happen on Thursday night when the record drops everywhere, if you want to be a part of that round table, please reach out! Although the brand new record is the lead, we don't want to bury the purpose of the episode because it's extremely vital to the history of Pearl Jam. The Paramount Theater show to close out the 1994 tour in the gallows of Madison Square Garden was one of a few fan club shows from this year. It comes a day after their legendary Saturday Night Live performance, a little over the week since the death of Kurt Cobain, and it is the final show involving drummer Dave Abbruzzese. While the fan club crowd was red hot and participated in every song from the hits to the b-sides, this was a night where Ed had a lot on his mind as he was unsure about the future of this band. We share excerpts from an article written in Melody Maker where a frustrated Vedder expresses his anger over Kurt's death and even questions his own mortality. Directly following this show, Pearl Jam would cancel their plans for a summer tour and part with Dave A shortly afterwards. Big storylines aside, this is an electric show with some absolute barnburner performances. Rearviewmirror, Daughter and Not For You all came off the heels of the SNL performance the night prior and proved to be just as powerful as they were on TV, other Vitalogy songs such as Whipping and Satan's Bed are notable moments, Ten b-sides Alone and Footsteps were huge crowd moments and Garden and Blood were huge standouts as well. We'll have a plethora of guests here as Javier's Gear Guru segments will focus in on Dave A's contributions to the band, and we invite Patrick and Brian from our sister podcast, Hallucinogenic Recipe, to come in and discuss the bootleg distribution for this show back in the mid-90's. This episode is about uncovering unsolved mysteries within Pearl Jam lore. We're back to celebrating the 30th anniversary of the memorable 1994 tour, and we find ourselves covering a Memphis show that does not get the acclaim that other shows from this run do. But perhaps this show is more significant than we think? We invite on Patron Mike Cribier to share his stories from this night that had been held back for quite some time. After sharing his recollection of this show to Pearl Jam fan run sites, his information could not be verified, and his story was never told. We're going to rectify that in this episode! As video from the early 90s tends to be a crapshoot for some Pearl Jam shows, this is indeed a show that does not have any visual aid. So how is it possible to tell if or when things are happening just by listening to bootleg audio? The stories that get revealed feature a fan getting heavily involved in Leash, Mike crowd surfing while wearing a Nosferatu mask and potentially the most important, Ed smashing his mic stand into the ground to create a massive hole. This is something that was famously done in Boston only weeks after, but could this have been the first ocassion? We'll get into talking about those storylines, as well as some excellent performances with the highlights being Deep, Not For You, Porch and Blood. We'll also talk about a pre-Vitalogy version of Last Exit... that a fan in the crowd knows the lyrics to? This episode features my conversation with drummer David Abbruzzese. Growing up in Texas, David discovered his passion for music early on and began to develop his skills as a drummer through his work with many local bands. In 1991, through a recommendation from drummer Matt Chamberlain, David went to Seattle to audition for Pearl Jam, who were just getting ready to release their debut album. He became a member of the band and held that position from 1991-1994, during which time, he recorded the iconic albums VS and Vitalogy. After working with Pearl Jam, David continued to establish himself as a freelance drummer and has gone on to work with multiple artists showcasing his creative and versatile approach to the drums. In our conversation, we talk about his early inspirations and how his passion for music helped to develop his creative approach. We discuss the process of recording the VS and Vitalogy albums and what it was like working with renowned producer Brendan O'Brien. We also talk about what he's been up to since Pearl Jam and why it's essential to appreciate all the opportunities that are presented to you. This episode begins our coverage celebrating the 30th anniversary of Pearl Jam's Vs. tour in 1994. With this tour falling smack dab in the middle of the band's prime, there are a plethora of storylines inside and outside of the shows that make this year a memorable one. Vitalogy songs were getting played in the set prior to the album's release, legendary shows took place in cities such as Boston and Atlanta, dealing with Ticketmaster, bomb threats, backstage break-ins, and Dave Abbruzzese exit from the band. This episode features a Rock For Choice show that took place in Pensacola, Florida a year after the death of Dr. David Gunn, a doctor who performed safe abortions on women who were unable to birth a child. The band has actively supported a women's right to choose going back to their formation. You may remember moments such as Ed wearing a t-shirt with a coat hanger on it during their 1992 performance on Saturday Night Live, and most famously at MTV Unplugged where Ed wrote pro-choice on his arm with a marker. The point of the episode is to discuss some of the band's history of activism, but also within the nature of our world at this current moment, it was extremely difficult to provide an episode on abortion rights without addressing what's going on. That means you will get to hear our heartfelt opinions on the subject at hand. If this is something that you are uncomfortable listening to at this point in time, please take note of that before checking out the podcast. The entire night had references (some subtle, others not so much) to the cause that they were fighting to defend, none more relevant than opening with a cover of Tom Petty's I Won't Back Down. The performances are the height of the era with the band absolutely locked in, and Ed tearing into the vocals on songs such as Dissident, Glorified G, Blood, Alive, Porch and many more. We also get to hear a speech from David Gunn Jr. as well as instances where Ed will attack the subject head on. Dave Abbruzzese joined Pearl Jam in 1991 and played a crucial role in the band's early years, contributing to albums like "Vs." (1993) and "Vitalogy" (1994). However, he was dismissed from the band in 1994. Dave remains a notable figure in the history of Pearl Jam. In celebration of the 30th anniversary of Pearl Jam's sophomore record, Vs., in this episode we're going back to where it all started. In the spring of 1993, the band set out to record the new record in the Northern California town of San Rafael. The process took two months to lay down all the tracks. At the end of the session, a surprise show was planned under the moniker of the David J. Gunn Band at a small San Francisco area venue called Slim's. It was on this night that the 500+ in attendance, both indoors and out, witnessed the dawning of the Vs. era. Nearly everything off of the album debuted, plus other songs that would end up being Lost Dogs or on Vitalogy. Animal, Go, Blood, Dissident, W.M.A., Rats, Rearviewmirror appeared for the first time in their infant stages, alongside Whipping and a little Bad Radio song titled Better Man. Hard To Imagine also claimed it's live debuted after being noodled and an improv all throughout the 1992 tour. An abridged version of Dirty Frank was played upon request, as was Alone that was also considered a deep cut by this point. While the beloved songs from Ten were played, they felt like an afterthought with all of the new material showcased. This is considered to be the first true surprise show in the history of the band, and with that came stories of how this show was almost canceled on multiple occasions and may not have happened if Cyndi Lauper was still set to perform that night. To give us the historical context of this show, we've invited on a Pearl Jam community legend, Kathy Davis, who watched this show from an open window. If you don't know Kathy, you should. She was a band archivist going all the way back to this era in 1993 putting together her zine called Footsteps. She'd later help take over with Two Feet Thick after Five Horizons parted ways. Her retelling of the night and how it all came about is more than enough reason to listen to this episode! It's time to play Pearl Jam Deprogrammed: Championship Edition! In this two part episode, we take six incredibly passionate fans of the band and see how they agree and disagree on their favorite songs. The way we do that is by playing a game called Deprogrammed, a podcast that collaboratively comes up with a starter kit for an artist. In this instance, we will be deciding on the Top 10 songs in Pearl Jam's catalog until we get down to selecting the song chosen as number one with a bullet. Since this is an expanded version of the podcast, we've taken songs from each of Pearl Jam's albums and grouped them together. There are 4 groups, each group contains 42-44 songs. From that selection, every member of the panel will pick their 15 favorites with the ultimate goal of creating a Top 10 in each group. If all 6 agree unanimously on a song, it automatically reaches the top 10 of its group. Anywhere from 5-3 votes will put a song in the conversation to advance to the top 10 and 2 or less votes will prevent a song from entering that conversation. Here are the album groups that we will be debating on: Group 1: Ten, Riot Act, Gigaton, Merkin Ball, 4 Lost Dog disc 1 tracks Group 2: Vs., Binaural, Avocado, Singles Soundtrack, 4 Lost Dogs disc 1 tracks Group 3: Vitalogy, Lost Dogs disc 2, Backspacer, 4 Lost Dogs disc 1 tracks Group 4: No Code, Yield, Lightning Bolt, 4 Lost Dogs disc 1 tracks Stay tuned for the next episode where we'll take the 40 selected in this show and whittle it down to the final ten! --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/deprogrammedva/message

Episode 38 is here! The wheel has graced us with Vitalogy, the 1994 5x platinum album from Pearl Jam. Oh, Peter Townsend, how you saved my life! Rick are you there?
We're covering a Vs./Vitalogy era show this week from 1994 where both albums were nearly splitting play time live, but that's not the story we'll have for you here. Murfreesboro is legendary thanks to the appearance of one of the great song-writers of all-time, Steve Cropper. As part of the backing band, Booker T and The MGs, Cropper has played for a number of world renowned stars such as Otis Redding, John Lennon and even featured in the Blues Brothers band. After a 1993 tour where Pearl Jam opened for Neil Young with The MGs as his backing band, this led to an opportunity when they stopped by his home in Tennessee while touring. As a major surprise, he joined the band to perform Dock Of The Bay and Rockin' In The Free World. The Dock Of The Bay performance became one of the most sought after covers of theirs, and was a track on the popular No Fucking Messiah bootleg. This song and Cropper are the central focus of the episode, and we'll bring in Patrick and Brian from our sister podcast, Hallucinogenic Recipe, to discuss some of the history behind it. Outside of the legendary moment, this was one of many scorcher shows in the 1994 tour year. With Dave A coming near the end of his run with the band, this is a hard hitting show that opened the gates for the band to get out of control on multiple occasions. You'll hear mind blowing versions of Rearviewmirror, Go, Deep, Blood, Alive and Porch that we'll discuss in full breakdown. You answered the question of the week this week pertaining to the Dock Of The Bay appearance, which OTOTO type songs have been some of your favorites, and we'll read the answers on the show. Also, Javier will join us for our Gear Guru segment this week where he'll talk about Steve Cropper's unique guitar and sound that he was using in this show. By popular demand, this week we have another music video-themed episode, however this time it's dedicated to Vanessa's picks of her favorite music videos from her childhood and adolescence. In that spirit we tackle the extended cut of Paul Abdul's classic video for "Rush, Rush" and discuss the time that Vanessa had a conversation with Keanu Reeves about making it. We also delve into the dramatic video for Bon Jovi's power ballad "Always" and Jonah recalls the time that Richie Sambora snubbed him because he wasn't in a band playing at Madison Square Garden. (Still not bitter about that, Richie.) We also dig deep into Soundgarden's psychedelic visual companion to "Black Hole Sun" and Jonah gives a little love to Metallica's austere clip for "The Unforgiven," which is a little too dark for Vanessa's taste. Whether you're a fan of Vitalogy or Vibeology, there's something for everyone on this Bayer-centric episode of HOW DID WE GET WEIRD? It's our first show for 2023, and right off the bat we're gonna take a shot at something we haven't done before. After the Atlanta show in 1994, Ed took to the airwaves to DJ a show out of a van. It was such a success that he wanted to do it again, but this time feature live performances from the band as well as some other special guests in between spinning records from his personal favorite bands. This is famously known as Self Pollution Radio. The broadcast took place shortly after the release of Vitalogy at a home that Ed owned in Seattle. He invited all of his friends over, meaning that at least one person from the big four (five if you include Mudhoney) Seattle grunge bands were all in attendance. While Pearl Jam performed some of the best songs off their new record, we also got to hear performances from The Fastbacks, Mudhoney, Soundgarden and the world premiere of Mad Season. Many of you may remember flipping cassette tapes while listening to this show back in high school or college, so we attempt to bring you back to that moment where you had to stay up late during a 4+ hour broadcast to make sure you recorded the entire thing. We'll talk about the Vote For Choice benefit that happened a few days after this, the Home/Alive compilation record, guests such as Mike Watt and Krist Novosellic and the ramifications of Ed giving out his phone number over a live broadcast. In this episode, I chat with a young leader who got me excited and optimistic about the future. Daze Aghaji is a climate justice, regeneration & well-being activist with a fascinating story and a skill at delivering it. You are in for a real treat with this interview, as. Daze shares how growing up with an awareness of climate change has shaped her and Generation Z. We talk about how climate change is not the issue, but, rather, toxic systems are - and climate change is just a by-product of them. She shares her own story, as someone who is disrupting, innovating and inspiring change, leading by example and showing the impact young people can have in demanding serious action on climate change. Daze is a multi-faceted talent and climate activist from London who focuses on regenerative culture intersectionality; radical social justice and youth political engagement in her work. She herself lives with intersectionality as a black woman, a daughter of immigrants from Nigeria and as a professional who grew up in poverty. In 2019, (before the pandemic took off), she was the youngest candidate to stand in the European parliamentary election. Daze's advocacy for racial systemic change has led her to work with many leading charities, NGOs and grassroots changemakers around the world. She has strong ties with the climate movement, Extinction Rebellion, and she's currently a creative director at Earthrise Studios, which is an environmentally focused media company, as well as a consultant for a variety of NGOs. She's also an artist in residence at Vitalogy, and a monthly contributor to Sky TV's climate show. She gave a TEDx talk in 2021 that I loved was about how we're going to solve climate change. Stay tuned for her inspiring story and so much more.

Thanks to a request from our Patron Joe Kolbenschlag, we get to focus on a show from 1995 that occurred during a small window of shows in that September. This one is Las Cruces, New Mexico, which may not be one of the many jaw dropping shows from 1995, but is still damn good in it's own right. We get to talk about lots from the Vitalogy era - a random rare appearance from Satan's Bed, a fully explosive I Got Shit (ok, noticed how bad that was two seconds after typing it. It's staying in.) and a killer Immortality that reigned king of the era with it's incredible, jammy outro. We'll also get to see a rare tag off of Daughter, The Who's "I'm One", a 10 minute Porch that ranges from bluesy to jammy all inclusive, and stunning versions of Corduroy, Not For You, Rearviewmirror and Blood. Also in this episode we'll talk about some end of the tour topics featuring a few things we can't wait to hear on bootleg, and some of our favorite moments from our travels. We'll also hear a story from Erin Mackay who had the version of Other Side that was played in Quebec City dedicated to her for her brother. Caution: story has themes of mental illness and suicide involved. If you wish not to listen to that part, skip over it at 9 minutes in and jump to 13 minutes in. The final show of the 2022 (unless additional shows are added later) will emanate from Denver, CO, the same place where they closed out a tour the last time they were there in 2014. This episode will focus on being in Denver at the beginning of a tour, and that happened by in 1994. The third show of a three night stint in 1993 playing CU Boulder was canceled due to security issues. So vowing to never play the university again and wanting to make it up to those kids who missed out, the band played two shows in Denver to kick off the 1994 run. Both nights were filled with surprises, mostly involving never before heard Vitalogy songs. As night one featured the Spin The Black Circle live debut, we're going to talk about the debut of Not For You that took place on night 2. This was the beginning of a relationship with the song that would define a lot of what they were going through in 1994 and 1995. We'll discuss it's origin and inspiration for writing it. We'll also cover the live debut of Street Fighting Man, a W.M.A. tag off of Porch, a Rats tag off of Daughter, and not one, but TWO band members losing their pants! This episode is about promises. Promises broken, promises kept, and promises broken yet again. The band has had a bit of a rocky relationship with Idaho's state capital, and while this episode will focus on all of the above, it will mainly be dedicated to the positive memories. If you go back to the beginning of their relationship, it began with disappointment as Pearl Jam had to cancel a date on the 1995 Vitalogy tour. They would finally set foot there in 2000 experiencing an unforgettable show that we'll go into in full detail here. As Ed states multiple times during this show, it was an amazing crowd and one that he promised to return to. Alas, as sequel was initially planned for the Riot Act tour in 2003, but due to circumstances that we aren't quite sure of, they had to cancel this show as well. The band has never been back to Idaho, and that's why it's a part of our OTOTO States Series! This show was given the high honor of being an "apeman" bootleg, which meant it was one of 18 shows in 2000 that the band thought very highly of. It's easy to tell why. The energy is palpable at this show, the band played extremely tight on a consistent high-tempo pace and the crowd ate it up the whole way. We'll talk about great renditions of Go, Grievance, Small Town, Better Man with the Romanza intro, Daughter, Rearviewmirror and Parting Ways. How high will this one be rated? You may want to tune in to find out! Visit the Concertpedia - http://liveon4legs.com Donate - http://patreon.com/liveon4legs

This week on Record Club, Jake, August, Morgan, and Ryley are back together to discuss a staple of 90s grunge and also a landmark record in the waning days of 1994 that represented one of the era's pinnacle bands retreating from the spotlight, falling apart internally, and getting weird. It was the album that nearly broke them but ironically, also probably the one that saved them. It has some of their biggest songs as well as alienating experiments and a generally caustic tone. It is, of course, Pearl Jam's Vitalogy. Watch the video version of this episode and subscribe to the channel on YouTube.
We're another week closer to the start of the tour, which means that we're continuing to build up the hype to highlight some of the cities they'll be dropping in. This week features the Sacramento show from 1995, a show sandwiched between a fan favorite (Red Rocks) and an infamous (Polo Fields) show, inadvertently making this one overlooked. As far as 1995 shows go, this one is right in that wheelhouse where the Vitalogy era shows thrived in. Ed's voice is at its peak, Jack is a madman at the kit, and the crowd as rowdy as you can imagine. We have not one, but two guests joining us for this episode. We welcome in our Patron Dylan Sumpter to tell his story about being at his first show, and we get to hear from Branden Palomo of the Better Band Podcast who talks about his experience at the show. There's three historically notable moments that happen at this show - we get the second performance of the alternate version of Jeremy dubbed "No Jeremy" which was debuted two nights earlier in Red Rocks, we get a performance of Lukin over a year from the release of No Code as well as Habit being played for only the second time. You get to see the evolution of the band throughout the duration of this show. Considering what would happen two days later, this show could be seen as the end of an era. Things wouldn't quite be the same afterward. Visit The Concertpedia - http://liveon4legs.com Donate to the Show.
