Elizabeth Blau's sense of leadership is one steeped deeply in responsibility. It's the sense that being responsible for a business, for a team, is an all-encompassing, 24-hour thing. It's an ethic instilled in her early – as is so often the case for those whose roots come from New York and New England. From her very first taste of leadership – managing a team of high school kids at a candy store that made its own chocolates and buttercreams – all the way to helming major restaurant development operations for marquis casino brands like MGM Resorts International and Wynn Las Vegas, Elizabeth never shies from rolling up her sleeves and digging in to work with her team. Today that looks quite a bit different, she's not scooping ice cream or working on the line in the kitchen, but her drive to move the needle remains. When the global pandemic wiped out her industry and put so many people in dire straits, Elizabeth joined with several other powerhouse “momma bears” and created Delivering with Dignity – an emergency response to provide food to those in need. At their one year anniversary in March 2021 they had served over 328,000 meals. Though her work ethic and drive were baked in from early on, it was Fenway - the first dog she had with her husband (and business partner) Chef Kim Canteenwalla – who really drove home what responsibility truly means. What motivates people? Why do they do what they do? What does leadership actually mean in today's world? Good questions, right? That's what Cathy Brooks, thought. And it's why she created Talk, Unleashed – a new podcast of entirely candid conversations with fascinating people doing remarkable things. This weekly podcast will feature guests from arts and entertainment to business to technology to food to activism to politics (well, we'll see on that last one). Talk Unleashed invites these influencers to consider the things that have led to them to where they are, the lessons they've learned and how all those things can come together to create a better world. #BlauandAssociates #HoneySalt #ElizabethBlau #Restauraneur #JamesBeardNominee #KimCanteenwalla #SmallBusiness #Leadership #TalkUnleashed #UnleashedLeadershi #MGM_Resorts #

Chef Nicole Brisson is Back with a Breeze & A Bar at Resorts World Chef Nicole Brisson is well known for her commanding presence in some of the most storied kitchens on the Las Vegas Strip. And after a quick stint off The Strip, she's back where she thrives - at a massive luxury resort opening on the Boulevard, Resorts World. "I have so many customers that are sprinkled all over the United States who have been following me for years. And I feel like I’m creating a home for them again at Bar Zazu and Brezza. And I can’t wait to welcome my guests back home and cook for them and give them a fun environment to relax and enjoy food and wine,” said Brisson. The veteran Las Vegas chef chats with Chefs Lorraine Moss and Louiie Victa about heritage breeds, sustainable seafood, and why she will use White Oak in her new wood-fired grill at Brezza. Brisson also shares how she plans to take care of herself mentally this time around. In this candid conversation, the three chefs make a commitment to each other and the chef community at large to check in more and make sure everyone's okay. Hosted by Brian Hurlburt. When I asked Magnifying Excellence Season 1, Episode 9 guest Elizabeth Blau--recognized as one of the key people over the last 20 years of Las Vegas evolving into a world class dining destination-- if she had a favorite quote or a piece of advice that she kept at the ready to motivate her, she responded that she didn't. She also said that being curious is very important on the path of Excellence, just as fellow guest Susan Anton had included in her definition.“Leading by example is critical,” said Blau, who remained busy during the 2020 and 2021 Covid-19 pandemic helping her clients and also operating her own restaurants. “You can't tell people to do one thing, like, ‘Don't spread COVID and stay home', and then be a politician who travels out of state to visit their family. “You have to have that level of integrity about what you're doing. At our restaurants, I make sure that we quarterly sessions where there are no managers and I just meet with our teams so that they know that they have direct access to me. While our business is growing and a big business, it's still a family business run by my husband and myself. So, knowing that there's an open-door policy and that if people have a problem, they can feel comfortable to reach out. I think that's an essential part of being a good leader, whether you're on a sports team or, you know, whether your team is a team of employees.”(Some of) Blau's Excellence- Blau was recognized at the prestigious UNLV Vino event with the Dom Perignon Award of Excellence.- She helped create From the Classroom to the Boardroom: Leadership for Women in Hospitality, an immersive class at UNLV and Florida International University, along with assistant professor and author Lisa Cain.- Blau is a graduate of the prestigious Cornell School of Hotel Management.- She is a past James Beard Award honoree.- Blau has appeared as a judge on the Food Network's ‘Iron Chef America' and is also an annual judge for Hotel Magazine's best restaurants.- Her story has been featured on the Travel Channel and the Martha Stewart Show.- She operates Honey Salt and Buddy V's in Las Vegas
