While some were concerned over Mahle's spring training, according to Texas' special advisor Dayton Moore there was one person convicted in his confidence regarding the pitcher - Mike Maddux. On this episode of Broker to Broker, host Marc Summers is exhilarated by the infectious energy and down-to-earth wisdom of Maddux Mortgage Broker Owner, Mike Maddux! Mike's hunger for success in the wholesale industry is an inspiration that mortgage professionals can learn from. Mike's energy, pragmatism, and ability to get to the heart of a topic are all as refreshing as it is educational. With a diverse background in the Marine Corps, the fitness industry, and in the retail channel all before starting his own brokerage, Mike brings a lot of no-nonsense wisdom to the table, and it leads to significant takeaways in short order. In just this episode alone, Mike provides substantiated and immediately applicable advice for peer and client relationship building, social media and advertising, VA and DPA Programs, and so much more. Mike does 50% of his business in VA Loans. His experience with VA and DPA programs leads to some invaluable insight: “VA doesn't have really strict set guidelines on debt to income or credit, and that's why it is one of the best loan programs out there, because if you get an AUS approved eligible, then it works. And if you don't get approved eligible and you have to have it manually under it and you find an underwriter that doesn't have any overlays, that goes off the VA handbook and you can get almost anything approved. I couldn't be more thankful for the fact that 50% of my business is VA Loans because it introduces me to more Veterans, and they're super easy to get close with. So I'm like a kid in a candy store. Oh, you're in the army? I'd love to help you buy a house!” Mike doesn't take no for an answer in fighting for his clients, and takes it a step further for clients that need access to DPA programs: “A lot of Down Payment Assistance programs specific to a state or a municipality are restricted to banks and credit unions. The biggest piece of advice I can give is to do your due diligence, find out if there is a way you can offer it, or what steps would be required for you to partner with said bank or credit union so that you can offer it. And, as a broker, provide a higher level of service than they're going to get from the loan officer at the bank.” Key Points: 1:30 A Roundabout Break into the Mortgage Business 4:20 Growth Mindset of an Up-and-Coming Brokerage 6:20 VA: The Pinnacle of Loan Programs 12:29 Diligence for Success in Down Payment Assistance 17:07 Navigating the Housing Market and Communicating with Clients 19:40 Social Media - Lead Generation Through Being Relatable 27:11 Get Prepared for 2024 by Staying Hungry This episode is sponsored by RCN Capital

Ron and Pete jump on for what is likely the final podcast of the season during Game 5 of the 2022 World Series. With nothing on the line at this point in the playoffs, they turn their attention to what will likely be a busy offseason for both the Cubs and the Cardinals. Will the Cards swap defense for offense behind the plate? Is Mo really going to bump the payroll, and is that tied to Nolan Arenado's decision to leave millions on the table? How much of an impact will Jeff Albert's and Mike Maddux's departures have on the team's performance? The Cubs' offseason will consist of two major decision points: the 40-man roster deadline and their free agency choices. Ron and Pete also go off on fans complaining about old, white broadcasters, and Ron undertakes his annual Twitter purge. Oh, and the Occasional Temporary Guest Host may have lost his title for the last time. Follow us on Twitter, GETTR, and Instagram. Like us on Facebook. Check out Gateway City Sports.
Every week, two of the Best Fans in Baseball (TM) bring you all the news and analysis you need about the St. Louis Cardinals. It was a very newsy week for the Redbirds, bringing Daniel (C70 At The Bat, @C70) and Tara (Birds on the Black, @tarawellman) out of hibernation to comment on the stories. Does Tara completely believe the company line about the departure of Mike Maddux? Was social media to blame for the departure of Jeff Albert? Also, what about the guys that are staying, Adam Wainwright and Nolan Arenado? Your dynamic duo cover those guys as well. Lots of fun so come on in!

Locked On Cardinals - Daily Podcast On The St. Louis Cardinals Podcast
Tommy Edman said postgame yesterday that the Cardinals need to do a better job of preparing for the starter they're facing. WHAT? It took them until June to realize they need to prepare more? That's ridiculous. At this point, after losing 8-2 to the Pirates, someone has to go from the coaching staff. Whether it's Mike Shildt, Jeff Albert or Mike Maddux something isn't working. This team is getting more and more painful to watch by the day. Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors!Built BarBuilt Bar is a protein bar that tastes like a candy bar.
Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors!Built Bar Built Bar is a protein bar that tastes like a candy bar. With another slightly later release, I bring you Episode 53 of Locked On Cubs. This is not a drill, people; it appears as though the Cubs and Cardinals will actually play a game at 1:20 pm CST on Thursday. To start out the podcast, I chatted briefly about a story I was chasing at Wrigley Field on Tuesday and some of my interactions within the Cardinals clubhouse. Mike Maddux is an interesting dude.Next, I looked at Javier Baez batting in the second spot in the lineup for just the second time since 2014, and why he's having an outstanding season despite his deceptive .235 batting average. This is a major reach, but what if Baez were to actually reach the ceiling on his potential in 2018? I finished out the podcast, as always, by running down the action from Wednesday in the NL Central and I even added a brief look at the standings. You can follow the podcast on Twitter @LockedOnCubs and email us any questions or comments at lockedoncubs@gmail.com. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

Every week two of the Best Fans in Baseball (TM) bring you all the news and analysis you need about the St. Louis Cardinals. It's obvious Mike Matheny has nothing to do with this show, otherwise Matt Bowman would have been called into host after pitching in the third straight game. Instead, Daniel (C70 At The Bat, @C70) and Tara (Bird Seeds, @tarawellman1) talk about the recent bullpen decisions, most notably what happened in Sunday's game. Where is Mike Maddux in all of this? Will things change with Greg Holland arriving on Monday? The two then get into the Adam Wainwright start and what might be going to happen later on if things don't improve. They finally touch on the office and Tara has choice words about Kolten Wong not playing in the home opener, so even though it ran long, you'll want to stick around for that!
Every week, two of the Best Fans in Baseball (TM) bring you all the news and analysis you need about the St. Louis Cardinals. The games have started, though it feels like the Cardinals might have not quite left the starting gate with the rest of the teams. A Sunday win salvaged something out of the weekend, but Daniel (C70 At The Bat, @C70) and Tara (Bird Seeds, @tarawellman) have a LOT of things to talk about. Has the bullpen usage really changed with the hiring of Mike Maddux? Is it the best thing in the long term to have Jordan Hicks on the current roster? How about that Greg Holland character, what's up with him? It's not all pitching (just mainly) as your hosts also get into the juggling act that is the Cardinals' infield. Can four players fit into three spots, especially when two of them seem to play every day? How does this all work out? When you figure it out, let these guys know!
Every week, two of the Best Fans in Baseball (TM) bring you all the news and analysis you need about the St. Louis Cardinals. Starting Gateway's eighth season, Daniel (C70 At The Bat, @C70) and Tara (Bird Seeds, @tarawellman) get into some of the issues coming out of Jupiter. The pitching staff has been shaky at best, with new acquisition Miles Mikalos "leading" the way. Is it time to be concerned about the free agent? What about the rest of the staff? Is the change to Mike Maddux at least in part a reason for the early struggles? And what about Adam Wainwright? What level of concern is there about him? Then there's Matt Carpenter, who hasn't played an out yet this spring. Is this a concern? What happens if Carpenter thinks he's fine but isn't? What does the lineup look like if Carpenter can't go? Plenty of questions for this early in the spring--but are there any answers?
4:00 - Fight 4:15 - If you are Mike Maddux, what are you focusing on during spring training? 4:30 - Nick Cafardo on Tony La Russa's impact on the Red Sox and the MLB free agent camp 4:45 - Mic Drop: Are you sold on Tommy Pham?
(#SchoolSucksAcrossAmerica - DAY THIRTY-FOUR - NOV 17 - Ardmore, OK) Mike and Brett fill Jamie in on what he missed after he slipped into an alternate universe 6 years ago. Every week two of the Best Fans in Baseball (TM) bring you all the news and analysis you need about the St. Louis Cardinals. Well, "every week" is a bit of a stretch in the offseason, as real life and the lack of regular news sometimes interferes with regular recordings. However, Tara Wellman (Bird Seeds, @tarawellman) is back and raring to join Daniel Shoptaw (C70 At The Bat, @C70) to talk about all the changes to the Cardinals' coaching staff. What exactly did they promise Jose Oquendo to get him to return? What does Willie McGee bring to the club? What should we expect from Mike Maddux? And how do all of these changes impact the future of Mike Matheny? All that and a little postseason baseball talk as well!
