Meet Dr. Marty Goldstein, a seasoned veterinarian who's seen a dramatic shift in pet health over the last 25 years. In the past, cancer mainly struck older pets, but now even puppies aren't spared. Dr. Goldstein blames this change on generations of pets raised on lousy diets (yes, kibble, we're looking at you) and constant exposure to chemicals like flea repellents. The real kicker? Sixty percent of Dr. Goldstein's animal patients come to him with acute illnesses, often after being given up on by other vets who recommend extreme treatments or even euthanasia. But here's the good news: Dr. Goldstein's unique approach to pet health is changing the game. He can significantly improve the quality of life for 50% of cancer patients and 80% of those with degenerative diseases. How? By going beyond traditional methods and using a blend of herbs, vitamins, supplements, acupuncture, and more. His integrative approach can extend a cancer patient's life by 50% to 60% compared to standard treatments. You can see Dr. Goldstein's work in action in the documentary "The Dog Doc" and learn more in his books, "The Nature of Animal Healing" and "The Spirit of Animal Healing." He's even sharing his wisdom with the prestigious Cornell University. Forbes Magazine dubbed him the "Miracle Worker" for his game-changing contributions to veterinary medicine. He's been a guest on national TV shows like The Oprah Winfrey Show, The Martha Stewart Show, and Good Morning America. Dr. Marty Goldstein is a pioneer, showing us that sometimes the best way to care for our furry friends is by thinking outside the kibble box. Thank You to Our Sponsors! Dr. Martin Goldstein is known as "Dr. Marty" and "The Dog Doc." He earned his veterinary degree from Cornell's College of Veterinary Medicine in 1973, as I did in 1984. We walked the same halls and learned from the same professors. Yet Dr. Marty saw something wrong early in his career. The animals he treated with academic knowledge should have improved, but instead, they became sicker and died.  Through a chance of fate, Dr. Marty discovered a book that started his journey to discover that we needed to stop treating diseases, as taught in our education, but treat the animal's immune system to improve its chance of fighting the disease. Dr. Marty became a pioneer in "holistic medicine," "alternative medicine," and "integrative medicine." In 1977, he became certified by the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society, a modality not taught in our veterinary curriculum. He was one of the founding members of the American Holistic Veterinary Medical Association. He and his brother started Smith Ridge Veterinary Center in South Salem, NY, specializing in integrative medicine and complementary modalities for maintaining animal wellness and treating chronic and degenerative illnesses, especially cancer. He has given seminars on alternative therapies nationwide and appeared on numerous regional and national radio and television programs, including the Oprah Winfrey Show, the Martha Stewart Show, and Good Morning America. For six years, he hosted his weekly program, "Ask Martha's Vet with Dr. Marty," on Martha Stewart's Sirius/XM satellite radio network. He is also the author of "The Nature of Animal Healing," published in 1999, and "The Spirit Of Animal Healing," Published in 2021.  "The Dog Doc" is a 2019 movie directed by the same director as the movie "Buck" that takes you along with Dr. Marty as he uses integrative medicine in his daily life as a veterinarian. It gives insight into how he discovered the modalities he uses daily and compelling cases to familiarize you with what he does. It is excellent and worth the time to see. DogDocTheFilm (https://dogdocthefilm.com). Dr. Marty® is his freeze-dried dog and cat food offerings, made with real meat, vegetables, and fruit. Our two Airedales love it and are thriving on it! There are also time-tested treats and supplements to help pets achieve maximum health by supporting their immune system and other health systems to oppose whatever may be causing their disease. It was fun to start our friendship and to discover another like-minded veterinarian who was well ahead of his time, willing to go against the status quo, risk his veterinary license, vilified, yet true to his passion of helping the animals coming to him in last-ditch attempts for life. His love of helping patients and his purpose of bringing his message to everyone worldwide showed in every minute of this podcast. Thank you, Dr. Marty, for inspiring me to do the same. ********** TheHorsesAdvocate.com is a website about horses, horse barns, and farms. Terri is also a stand-up comic and performed a popular TEDx talk. Similarly, she has brought her knowledge to several speaking engagements, even being featured on popular shows like The Martha Stewart Show and Today. In this episode… When receiving advice on where to take their life, many people have been told to “follow their passion.” While this can be helpful for some, this vague encouragement can be a nonstarter. The saying is predicated on an ideal that is not always realistic or even desirable in the long run. What if there was a better way to find purpose and success? Terri Trespicio is a speaker, advisor, and writer who has thoroughly explored this concept throughout her career. Her perspective on thriving in business is different from many but might be what someone needs to find their way.  In this episode of Access to Anyone, Michael Roderick is joined by Terri Trespicio to discuss her novel and her view on navigating the business world. They dissect the idea of passions, why this advice can be misleading, and how to find fulfillment outside of that framework. The two then go into the challenges of relationship building, knowing when to say no, and becoming more than a service provider.

Round Two with a great pal, an all-around sweetheart and great kisser Joey Kola. After a rousing start, the trio descends into body failures. Have your medical dictionary handy. Luckily it stays very funny.   Sexual tension kicks in as Joey recalls Martha Stewart making him perform. The sexual tension rapidly disappears when the gang recalls Pips in Brooklyn, the granddaddy of comedy clubs, and David Brenner pees in the stew. As a stand-up comedian for 40 years, Joey Kola has performed for hundreds of thousands of people throughout his career in the US, Canada and England. His high energy, spot on punch lines, and fast delivery assault an audience like a comedic freight train. Joey's topical and timeless material combine to always make his audiences laugh hard. Joey has worked at countless comedy clubs, colleges, casinos, theatrers, cruise ships and corporate functions. Kola's also proud of the success he's had in raising great amounts of money for the many different charities he currently supports. Joey Kola's TV credits include, "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno", The Late Show with David Letterman", "The King of Queens" with Kevin James, "The Martha Stewart Show", "Comedy Central Presents Joey Kola", "The Rosie O'Donnell Show", Comedy Central's "Premium Blend", The Rachael Ray Show, Jimmy Fallon and CBS's hit show "Kevin Can Wait" staring Kevin James, where Joey also plays the role of "Larry Anderson", the corn eating Assistant Principal on the show. Joey has been voted Best TV Comic 5 years in a row by Time Out NY magazine. He has warmed up many shows, such as "The Rosie O'Donnell Show", "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire" with Meredith Viera, "The Late Show With David Letterman", "The Apprentice" and "Survivor" Finales, "The Jane Pauley Show" and CBS's "Wake-Up with Ali and Jack", "The Marriage Ref" produced by Jerry Seinfeld, "The Late Show" with Stephen Colbert and "The Chew". Joey continues to be a "regular" on and audience warm-up for Rachael as he goes into it's 15th season. One of the hardest working comics in show business today, over 300 shows per year for the last 40 years, Joey also finds time to write for other comics. George Carlin called Joey "One of the strongest comics I've seen". Joey has also toured many casinos with the cast of the Sopranos as part of their live show "Comedy You Can't Refuse". And Comedy and Conversation with The Sopranos. Kola continues to make audiences laugh today. Joey's family, his wife and 2 kids, are a great source for most of his material. Joey Kola can play to any crowd, young or old, his material is versatile. He can work 'clean' or 'blue'. Joey loves to promote his shows. His radio spots on various stations around the country have been enjoyed by millions. Written about in many news articles, magazines, and on the internet, Joey continues to please a wide range of people. Award-winning chef, restaurateur, and cookbook author, Seamus Mullen, is our guest today. Seamus shares how realizing he is not his patterns led to profound healing. Identification with our patterns can perpetuate suffering. When we realize our Spiritual Self can never be patterned we find freedom and a genuine willingness to take responsibility for our lives. Growing up on a rural farm in Vermont, both Seamus and his brother cooked meals alongside the rest of the family. Seamus learned early on that he could make others happy if he cooked good food for them. Eventually, his career became an extension of this early learned pattern and belief. When he arrived at the Hoffman Process classroom, one of the things Seamus first noticed was a poster on the wall that says, "I am not my patterns." Seamus really took this in as he looked back over his life. Twelve years earlier when he was working to heal from Rheumatoid Arthritis, Seamus' new functional doctor helped him see that "he wasn't sick but he had this illness." This is the difference between identifying with sickness - I am sick - versus having an illness. Through the Process, Seamus worked to heal through the cycle of transformation. Another big learning at the Process for Seamus was how compassion must be the precursor to forgiveness. Through doing the Process, he was able to forgive his parents, which brought him freedom and peace. Listen in as Seamus shares with us a beautiful story of healing and forgiveness that happened post-Process with his father and family. More about Seamus Mullen: Seamus Mullen is an award-winning chef, restaurateur, and cookbook author. A health crisis nearly ended his career in 2012. A dramatic re-evaluation of his lifestyle and relationship with food led to a total transformation. In twelve months, he reversed an “incurable auto-immune disease, lost over 80 pounds, and returned to being an active and healthy human. As a nationally recognized leading authority on health and wellness, Seamus is on a mission to help as many people as possible take control of their own health and embrace the remarkable healing power of Real Food! Seamus can often be seen as a featured judge on the popular Food Network series “Chopped” and “Beat Bobby Flay,” and is a frequent guest on programs such as The Today Show, The Martha Stewart Show, and CBS This Morning where he shares his knowledge of cooking and nutrition. In 2012, Seamus published his first cookbook, Hero Food. In 2017, he released his second cookbook, Real Food Heals. Seamus lives in sunny Malibu, California, and is the Culinary Director for the Rosewood Sandhill Hotel. You can find him swinging kettlebells, riding bikes, and hiking in the coastal mountains when he's not cooking or writing. You can learn more about Seamus here, and follow him on Instagram and Twitter. As mentioned in this episode: Pattern Ping Pong: Patterns feed off each other and reactions lead to escalation. Functional Medicine: "The functional medicine model is an individualized, patient-centered, science-based approach. This approach empowers patients and practitioners to work together to address the underlying causes of disease and promote optimal wellness."   https://media.blubrry.com/the_hoffman_podcast/content.blubrry.com/the_hoffman_podcast/Liz_and_Seamus_Mullen_Podcast_Final.mp3

Recently, J. Ivy recorded and filmed a concert titled Catching Dreams: Live at Fort Knox Chicago, which was Nominated for the 2022 GRAMMY Awards in the Best Spoken Word Category alongside Levar Burton, Don Cheadle, Dave Chappelle, and Barack Obama. But before he was able to celebrate, J. Ivy took up the roles of Lead Writer, Voice Director, and Cast Member of Netflix's new film, jeen-yuhs A Kanye Trilogy, directed by Coodie & Chike. “Jeen-yuhs” shared a nomination for Outstanding Documentary Series in the 2022 Emmys with The Beatles' new documentary series, “Get Back”.   In this episode, J. Or click here for more information: Linktr.ee/BeatlesEarth   ----- The Beatles were an English rock band, formed in Liverpool in 1960, that comprised John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr. They are regarded as the most influential band of all time[1] and were integral to the development of 1960s counterculture and popular music's recognition as an art form.[2] Rooted in skiffle, beat and 1950s rock 'n' roll, their sound incorporated elements of classical music and traditional pop in innovative ways; the band later explored music styles ranging from ballads and Indian music to psychedelia and hard rock. As pioneers in recording, songwriting and artistic presentation, the Beatles revolutionised many aspects of the music industry and were often publicised as leaders of the era's youth and sociocultural movements. Led by primary songwriters Lennon and McCartney, the Beatles evolved from Lennon's previous group, the Quarrymen, and built their reputation playing clubs in Liverpool and Hamburg over three years from 1960, initially with Stuart Sutcliffe playing bass. The core trio of Lennon, McCartney and Harrison, together since 1958, went through a succession of drummers, including Pete Best, before asking Starr to join them in 1962. Manager Brian Epstein moulded them into a professional act, and producer George Martin guided and developed their recordings, greatly expanding their domestic success after signing to EMI Records and achieving their first hit, "Love Me Do", in late 1962. J. Ivy was born March 3, 1976 as James Ivy Richardson II in Chicago, Illinois to James Ivy Richardson Sr. and Pamela Richardson. His father was a Disc Jockey and On-Air Personality, who went by the name Jim Richards. Jim Richards' highlights included hosting the morning hour show on Chicago's popular radio station WVON,[2] and his mother was a registered nurse. J. Ivy grew up on Chicago's South side with his family until the age of 14 before moving to the South Suburbs of Chicago, where he attended Rich Central High School. Ivy discovered his poetry talent during his junior year when his English teacher asked him to perform a piece he had written for a routine homework assignment.[3] He performed in front of the student body and received a standing ovation. J. was heavily influenced by his mother, who supported his budding talent by encouraging him to continue writing and publish his burgeoning body of work. After his successful school performance, J took his poetry passion as a serious hobby and began regularly writing and performing well into his college years. J. Ivy attended Illinois State University, where he became known on campus as "The Poet" and delved deeper into the art form. After college, J. Ivy returned to Chicago and frequently performed on the local arts circuit. As his popularity grew, J. Ivy was featured several times on Chicago's WGCIradio station and later became the host of "Rituals," (from 1997 to 2000) the most popular poetry night in Chicago and perhaps the nation at that time. He was eventually asked to come on Russell Simmons' HBO Def Poetry Jam. He received a standing ovation for his performance of "I Need to Write"[4] and was invited back for two encore appearances in later seasons where he performed his signature poems "Dear Father" and "Never Let Me Down." Fellow Chicagoan Kanye West heard about J. Ivy from mutual friends while he was working on his debut album The College Dropout for Roc-A-Fella Records. He contacted Ivy and offered him the opportunity to be on the song, "Never Let Me Down" which also featured Jay-Z. The College Dropout album earned a Grammy Award for Best Rap Album. The night J. Ivy recorded his verse on "Never Let Me Down," he heard music from a singer named John Stephens. J. Ivy was so inspired by John's music that he began to call him John Legend. J. Ivy is also featured in the first episode of the Kanye three part documentary Jeen-yuhs. His distinct hip-hop poetic style caught the attention of many who were not accustomed to hearing poetry incorporated into music in this manner which led him to collaborating with many artists including John Legend, Estelle, Slum Village, Maurice Brown, Smoke DZA, and more. On October 26, 2010, J. Ivy released his second studio album "HERE I AM", which features guest artists Abiodun Oyewole of The Last Poets, Jessica Care Moore, Jesse Boykins III, Blitz the Ambassador, Chris Rob, Amanda Seales, Mikkey Halsted, and more. In 2014 J. Ivy released a mixtape titled, "Diggin' in the Papes Vol.1", which features a host of collaborative records Ivy has created with Hip-Hop artist and producers like Crooked I, The Cool Kids, Ski Beatz, Slum Village, Carl Thomas, Tall Black Guy, and more. In 2017 J. Ivy released his third studio album, "My Daddy's Records", an album created for his book "Dear Father: Breaking the Cycle of Pain." J. Ivy is currently the Chicago Chapter President of the Recording Academy and is the first Spoken-Word Artist to hold a Chapter President seat in the history of the Recording Academy. In 2012, J. Ivy followed up his album "HERE I AM" with the release of his book "HERE I AM: Then & Now," a compilation of the album's lyrics, stories regarding the inspiration for the album, and additional poetry. In January 2014 J. Ivy inked a book deal with Beyond Words Publishing, an imprint of Atria Books & Simon & Schuster, for the January 2015 release of his new book "Dear Father: Breaking the Cycle of Pain",[6] which is based on J. Ivy's poem "Dear Father" (as seen on HBO Def Poetry). In addition to his voice, Ivy has been a featured in numerous ads and served as a spokesperson for national corporate initiatives. He has been a model for both Mecca and LRG's national print-ads as well as a spokesperson for Ford Urban.com alongside Tarrey Torae, Rocsi from BET's 106 & Park and MTV's VJ Sway Calloway. J. Ivy was the sole voice and face in Verizon's History in the Making Campaign, which earned him a Gold Clio Award for the campaign's commercial, which was shown in movie theaters nationwide. This campaign was directed by Bob Giraldi, who directed Michael Jackson's "Beat It." J. Ivy's musical endorsements have also included extensive work with Allstate Insurance's Beyond February initiative. J. Ivy's voice has also been heard on 2013 Benjamin Moore & Co. Paint Commercial, 2013–15 Nissan Commercials, HBO Boxing, Monday Night Football, CBS Sports, MTV's Who's Got Game, and in the 2009 and 2011 NFL seasons, he was featured on the introduction for the entire season of NBC's Sunday Night Football alongside Faith Hill. J. Ivy supports programs that bring arts into the school system. He is a regular performer in Chicago Public Schools. J. Ivy was a guest speaker/performer at Deepak Chopra's 2012 Annual Sages & Scientists Symposium and was the official MC for the 2013 & 2014 edition.[7] Additionally, J. Ivy has conducted poetry workshops and given performances for Reading Is Fundamental, The Kanye West Foundation, and Steve Harvey's Mentoring Camp For Young Men, where he presented his Dear Father Initiative, which teaches the power of forgiveness and promotes social emotional healing through the exercise of writing and journaling. J. Ivy has appeared on many programs and series, including: ER, The Martha Stewart Show, ABC's BCS Selection Show, ABC's All-America Team Show, ABC's FedEx Orange Bowl Championship Game, ABC's Monday Night Football, ABC's NBA Finals, Russell Simmons' Def Poetry Jam on HBO, HBO's Bob Costas Now, HBO Boxing, MTV's Who's Got Game, MTV's 2004 New Year's Eve Bash (2004), MTV's Black History Month Special (2004), MTV's My Block, VH-1's Best Year Ever (2005), B.E.T.'s Lyric Café, BET's Black Carpet Series, B.E.T.'s Harlem Nights, the independent film, Backstabbers (1999), ESPN's 2015 Scripps National Spelling Bee, and B.E.T.'s "Ali: The People's Champ, which won a NAACP Image Award. In the pantry this week is Bradford Knight, a beauty industry veteran who's worked on various TV shows including The Martha Stewart Show and Who Wants To Be A Millionaire. Bradford shares a hookup story that'll curl your toes! Pecan Waffles Ingredients: King Arthur Cake Flour, baking powder, baking soda, kosher salt, sugar, butter, buttermilk, eggs, vanilla extract, whole pecans (toast and chop), maple syrup, frozen cherries. Directions: In a large bowl, whisk together the dry ingredients. 2 cups of cake flour, 2 teaspoons of baking powder, 1 teaspoon of baking soda, 1 teaspoon of salt, 2-3 tablespoons of sugar. In a second bowl, mix together 1¾ - 2 cups of buttermilk, 3 eggs, a ½ cup (one stick) of butter, 1 teaspoon of vanilla. Mix the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients until it's combined and smooth; a few tiny lumps are okay. Do not over mix the batter because it will cause gluten to form and create tough waffles. Set the batter aside to rest while the waffle maker heats. When the waffle maker is ready, pour a ½ cup of batter and add approximately 2 tablespoons of toasted, chopped pecans on top. The waffle will be ready once the steam from the waffle maker comes to a near stop. For cherry maple syrup, heat 1 cup of maple syrup and ½ a cup of frozen cherries on medium in a small saucepan until the syrup lightly bubbles. Take the pan off the heat, steep for 30 minutes to an hour before preparing/serving waffles. Thanks to our sponsors: Feals

On this episode we hear from Kimmay Caldwell, an Undergarment Educator and Coach, whose 20-year-old self, working as a bra fitter, was struck by how people viewed themselves in the mirror. The harsh narratives people came up with while trying on a bra made her transform her own relationship with her body. Now, Kimmay supports all those people who struggle with self-love, self-acceptance and body image through her coaching work. Kimmay covers everything about loving yourself and owning your body. Becoming a self-love coach and an undergarment educator Kimmay was an independent and struggling full-time student in New York City and became a bra fitter at a bra shop in Soho where she met all kinds of people from different backgrounds. In the pre-Instagram period of hiding cellulite and stretch marks, Kimmay (like many others) struggled with body image and self-acceptance. Being a bra fitter gave her a window into the most vulnerable parts of people's minds- what they see when they look into the mirror. The negative stories that people came up within that intimate space made Kimmay reflect on her own relationship with her body. It not only inspired her to improve her perception of her body and image but also inspired her to support others in their own journey of acceptance and love. Kimmay says that breasts and genitals are the most intimate and sacred parts of our body. However they appear – full breasts or a flat chest, it centers our energy. When people feel shame and discomfort with those parts of their body, it can throw their energy off. How did Kimmay help as a bra fitter and now as a coach? Working as a bra fitter in retail, Kimmay would encourage people to see something positive when they experience intrusive thoughts like what their bra size means to them. Now as a coach, Kimmay started with bra fitting sessions where she addresses three things – confusion, discomfort and shame, to get people to start liking what they see in the mirror. Confusion is the educational part of the process about bra sizing, what fits and the differences. Discomfort people feel can be addressed by fitting them into their right bra size. One of her thoughts is around how wearing your right bra size is much like fitting into the right size shoes, it's about being comfortable in what you wear. Shame is tackled by addressing stories around body types, what it means to them. Kimmay explains how shame grows from the stories we tell ourselves and how shame blocks confidence, potential and connection with our bodies. Kimmay created the “Hurray housekeeping method” where you view yourself as a house, from the foundation up. It serves women who aim to be successful and achieve bigger dreams. She rightly believes that the kind of person you are outside to the world and in your relationships, at the end of the day, you come to yourself, to “your head and heart space” as Kimmay says it. It's important to feel comfortable and at home in who you are. To make that happen you change how you talk to yourself, the stories you tell yourself. Inside, outside and underneath – meaning Kimmay gets into explaining what her tagline “inside, outside and underneath” means. In taking a holistic approach Kimmay supports people by working inside out. The inside part of the process includes a relationship and connection with your inner self. Changing the way you perceive yourself and the way you communicate about your appearance could transform your inner self. She then guides them into the process of addressing concerns underneath your clothing, which is done by educating people about undergarments. In the next step, she looks outside a person including their job, how they present to people, relationships and more. Kimmay emphasizes the need to connect with yourself first before connecting with someone else in a relationship. Wearing lingerie for yourself Kimmay talks about choosing the right bra that fits as a deep clean that leads to a path to transformation. Comparing it to cleaning an actual house, Kimmay explains how it's a slow and an ongoing process that doesn't happen overnight or change everything about yourself. Kimmay works mainly with people in their 50s who have time on their hands to focus on themselves and those going through menopause and dealing with changes to their bodies. It opens up an opportunity for them to not only find a right fitting bra but also feel different about themselves physically and emotionally. Kimmay points out the importance of wearing bras or any undergarments as a treat for yourself, to feel the confidence and comfort and not with an expectation for someone else to see it. Take away Kimmay gives a wise takeaway of bra fitting by asking people to stop using numbers as a definition and instead use it as information. She urges people to give those definitions to numbers which could also be their salary, age or weight. Understanding information on bra sizing, how it works and what works for you is important. She addresses misinformation that's been taught about bra sizing. It's also a part of misinformation that we don't know the right way of taking care of our bras, how to wash them and to put them on. She offers free information around this on her website. Kimmay talks about her campaign “More Than My Numbers” where people of different sizes, colors and body shapes are featured and they measure themselves and share their sizes. Using lingerie to help with intimacy in relationships Kimmay talks about how certain parts that are covered by undergarments and lingerie itself are sexualized. She points out that you can have never had sex and still use lingerie, like everyday bras or T-shirts that make you feel sexy which gets along well with the exciting fact of loving yourself by dressing well underneath your clothes. Giving space to feel confident with who you are and your body, and feeling of course a bit frisky. Those things can then be brought into an intimate situation with someone's intimacy at its core. It's all about vulnerability. Being vulnerable in front of someone is hard when you don't feel ok with your body, so it's easier when you feel loved and accepted. Lingerie is also used in a way of self-love to show up bigger in the world. She shares some tips about how to spice up your relationship with lingerie.
