How to Raise Funding: How to Raise Funds for Affordable Housing Projects | Episode 34

Investor Connect Podcast

Play Episode Listen Later Feb 7, 2025 16:59

In this episode of Investor Connect, Hall T. Martin engages in a detailed conversation with Enzi from South Africa, who is trying to raise funds for a significant construction project in the U.S. The discussion begins with Enzi explaining his vision to make housing affordable and sustainable, incorporating key features like clean water, clean energy, and efficient sewage removal. Enzi is currently in the idea phase and seeks initial funding to register his business and patents before moving on to more significant fundraising efforts later on. The conversation shifts towards Enzi's strategy of acquiring an established U.S. company to speed up scaling once his patents are in place. However, he faces hurdles such as the limitations set by the South African government and a lack of interest from South African investors due to the project being U.S.-focused. Enzi elaborates on his goal to raise $50 million in U.S. investments after securing an initial $58,000, and discusses the challenges of reaching out to over 4,000 potential investors without much success. Hall offers valuable advice on how to improve the pitch and presentation to attract more investors. Hall emphasizes the importance of demonstrating strong support from family, friends, partners, and potential users to make the project more appealing to investors. He also advises Enzi to include details about tax breaks and various types of affordable housing in his pitch deck. Hall further suggests leveraging social media and personal networks to gain initial traction and support for the project before presenting it to larger investors. By focusing on building a solid network of supporters and presenting a compelling, well-rounded case, Enzi can increase his chances of securing the necessary funding to bring his affordable housing vision to life. Ultimately, this episode offers practical insights into the multifaceted process of raising funds for large-scale, socially impactful projects, emphasizing the need for meticulous preparation, strong support systems, and strategic networking.    Thank you for joining us for the Startup Funding Espresso where we help startups and investors connect for funding. As a reward, we get this pretty great finale. Bonnie continues to hunt everyone as they scramble to get into the Armory. With the help of Enzi making himself a target and some adorable little witch siphons, our team can get into the Armory to destroy the final Everlasting and (hopefully) avoid the mysterious evil entity. And yet, no one seems that urgent or concerned about the evil entity … huh. Stefan and Caroline finally work things out (and kick Ric to the curb). But it's not all happy! Damon makes the selfless decision to go into the vault and stays there after mysteriously hearing Elena's voice. Enzo follows, taking them on a new adventure, killing a lot of people for mysterious reasons.  We also debrief about a season we haven't been particular fans of, and pitch how we would have fixed it. Dr. Sarah Longair unseats European powers' efforts to control the East African coast, through a Kiti Cha Enzi, or Swahili Chair of Power, produced in the 19th century. Intricately decorated with an ivory inlay, a large, wooden throne sits proudly - not in its place of production of Witu, Kenya, but the stores of the British Museum. Kiti cha enzi, or seats of power, were used as thrones by Swahili rulers from the 18th century. Their distinctive form incorporates myriad cultural influences, highlighting the vibrant pre-colonial trading history of the Swahili community, while their symbolic use speaks to shifting patterns of power on the African coast. Produced as Germany and Britain competed for colonial control on the East African coast, this chair is a material symbol of how a small Swahili community resisted European expansion. Its seizure from the Swahili Sultan Fumo Bakari, and subsequent relocation by Admiral Fremantle to the National Maritime Museum, and later British Museum, speaks to our current interests in the colonial origins of museum objects. But it also reveals the complex rivalries between Western imperial pofwers, and how East African leaders exercised their own agency by playing them against each other. PRESENTER: Dr. Sarah Longair, Senior Lecturer in the History of Empire at the University of Lincoln. ART: Kiti Cha Enzi (Swahili Chair of Power), East Africa (19th Century). 20+ years ago, TT Stern-Enzi made the decision to pursue his passion for film as a career ... Turns out it was the best decision the Rotten Tomatoes-certified movie critic ever made.A film reviewer and columnist regularly featured in CityBeat Cincinnati, on WXIX-TV "Fox 19" and formerly Dayton City Paper,  Stern-Enzi is a lifelong movie lover who got his start the way many amateur critics do: Watching hundreds and hundreds of movies. Now celebrating two decades-plus of interviewing countless star actors, actresses and directors, he is also now a driving force behind the Over-the-Rhine International Film Festival. The festival - which originated as the Cincinnati ReelAbilities Film Festival in 2011 to share the lives, stories, and art of people who experience disabilities - has grown to now focus on its mission of "empowering our shared humanity through stories, conversations and action."On this episode of A Tight 45 (dropping Wednesday, March 17, 2021), Stern-Enzi talks with Tabari about his lifelong love of film, what he thinks like will be like for studios and audiences post-pandemic ... And why he's only walked out of one film in his entire life.Check out this episode and others you may have missed at https://atight45.buzzsprout.com/or wherever you get your podcasts today!
