Hell Bent For Metal favourites Amon Amarth are back under discussion again, this time explaining why breakthrough song 'The Pursuit Of Vikings' makes them think about coming-out experiences, something gay men are surprisingly comfortable discussing that most folks aren't, and, er, Destiny's Child. It's a surprisingly well behaved Camp Classic (by HBFM standards, anyway), but maybe it's because it's the summer and the cricket season in Britain, but Matt and Tom are in surprisingly thirsty form. And not just for Pimm's.This week's visit to HCGBs sees Matt put Plagueboys by Finnish post-punks Grave Pleasures into the jukebox, while Tom's plumped for Saturnian Bloodstorm by Lamp Of Murmuur… although you could be forgiven for thinking it's by someone else, according to the guy picking it.

This week's show is the promised Ask May Anything episode that was announced and came together very quickly. Listeners ask your intrepid host about all sorts of wild, weird things from real-life scares to fantasy superhero teams to, frankly, complete filth that I'm not too happy about. LOL. Every song in this episode has been released in the past few weeks except for one which is the world podcast premiere of your host's old band: "NERO" by Godflesh, "Millions of Spyders" by Stricken, "Midnight Boy" by Dorthia Cottrell, "Death Lurks At Every Turn" by Margarita Witch Cult, "When the Shooting's Done" by Grave Pleasures, and "An Offering to the Night" by Jesus Piece. Put on your apocalyptic post-punk dancing shoes as Kate and Louis dissect the 2017 offering from Grave Pleasures, Motherblood. They ask essential questions like "What does Louis know about Finland?", "What counts as post-punk?" and "How can metal-tinged Joy Division meets Cold War Armageddon sound so very catchy?" Oh, and because it's Christmas, there's no avoiding mentioning Die Hard. linktr.ee/LouisTsangarides INSTAGRAM: @l.a.tsang TWITTER: @l_a_tsang Sources Dom Lawson - Grave Pleasures Motherblood Review - Metal Hammer Nick Ruskell - Under the Shadows: Welcome to the Unique Darkness of Grave Pleasures - Kerrang! Ben and John bring the instrumental summer to a close and return to lyrical records by covering Beastmilk's lone album, 2013's Climax. Steeped in the traditions of post punk with an edge of apocalyptic garage goth, the album proves to be perhaps the catchiest that the show has covered to date. Already sharing personnel with Hexvessel and Code, members of Beastmilk would continue the band's legacy with Grave Pleasures. The Greatest Thing You've Never Heard is a like a book club for your next favorite record. Each episode is an in-depth examination of a single album that's worthy of greater recognition. Our co-hosts, Ben and John, spend a full episode discussing an album and then often use a follow-up episode to interview the band that recorded it. The increasing openness of Rob Halford is celebrated, and the biggest parallel between the life of the gay man and the metalhead is revealed thanks to Beastmilk's modern classic Climax, on the latest LGBT+ take on heavy metal. Matt and Tom discuss how heavy metal's most prominent gay musician – the Metal God himself, Rob Halford – has got more open and frank in his discussion of his sexuality, and why that is important. We explain why it matters that the LGBT+ community can discuss sex as freely as straight folks, and how Halford is helping that happen. The superb debut album by Beastmilk (now Grave Pleasures) is this week's Camp Classic, as we share the surprising common ground between the metal fan going to a show, and a queer person going to a gay bar – and what that has to do with a post-punk band that extreme audiences like Roadburn Festival immediately embraced. Plus there's the usual gushing and bickering in the Hate Crew Gaybar, where the latest additions to the jukebox are Lost In The Waves by Landmvrks, and The Crown's latest album Royal Destroyer. There's also some follow-up on the relative gayness of cocktails, another shocking confession about gaps in Matt's blockbuster movie viewing, and some gossip about who Tom wants to take his shirt off more in the new series of Line Of Duty. Completely predictable random digressions, then.
Episode 23 is again a very special guest and also another videocast!! This time it's the enigmatic and reclusive Mat McNerney (Grave Pleasures/Hevvessel/ex Beastmilk/Dodhaimsgard/Code and more) who was more than kind to give me his thoughts and opinions on the current situation we are in, what it might mean for Artists and Art and how we can pull together. Mat is without a doubt one of the most talented songwriters and vocalists of the last couple of years whose opinions are thankfully far from the madding crowd! and not one who willingly sits in the limelight so I thank him for this highly entertaining and engaging chat!!! As it you hadn't had enough of lists already, now it's time for Steve and Remfry to decide and designate their favourite albums released between 2010 and 2019 (or in Remfry's case, 2010 - 2018, much to the chagrin of Steve). This week, they count down numbers 20 - 11 which includes albums from the likes of Grave Pleasures, And So I Watch You From Afar, Black Peaks, Devin Townsend Project, Her Name is Calla, The Black Queen, Agent Fresco, Destrage and Against Me! South Londoners ITHACA blew everyone away when they released The Language of Injury in February, so we've been waiting, biding our time, holding back until the perfect moment to get the band's singer Djamila to come on the show to talk about Hollow Earth, weaponised estrogen and Nicki Minaj, Music by Grave Pleasures: https://gravepleasures.bandcamp.com/releases And Seeyouspacecowboy: https://seeyouspacecowboyca.bandcamp.com Support our Patreon why not: https://www.patreon.com/DeathSentence

Uudessa jaksossa vieraana monessakin yhtyeessä rummuissa vaikuttanut Rainer Tuomikanto.
