Daily Boost Show Notes - Episode 5046 Stop Letting Toxic People Drain Your Energy Host: Scott Smith Episode Description In this energetic episode, Scott Smith tackles a common challenge that holds people back from living their best lives – toxic relationships. With his signature no-nonsense approach, Scott explains why surrounding yourself with people who share your values is crucial for your happiness and success.  Fresh from Daytona Bike Week with his new 2024 Harley-Davidson Street Glide, Scott delivers this powerful message with a raspy voice and unwavering conviction. He reminds listeners that while it might feel impossible to eliminate negative influences, sometimes the most life-changing decision is simply moving on from people who don't align with your values. Whether it's colleagues, clients, or even friends who drain your energy, this episode provides the motivation you need to make those difficult but necessary changes in your relationships. Featured Story After postponing a necessary conversation for months, Scott's client finally confronted a toxic business relationship that was causing significant stress. Scott shares how this common scenario plays out - everyone else can see the problem except the person being mistreated. The lesson? Sometimes, the most liberating decision is recognizing when a relationship isn't sustainable and having the courage to reset expectations or move on. Key Takeaways The world's simplest success recipe: Stand up, take a step, repeat until you get what you want Your subconscious mind filters the world around you, forming opinions without you realizing it Toxic relationships with people who don't share your values can prevent you from achieving your goals "You will feel exactly like those five people around you are making you feel" Unsustainable relationships eventually reach a breaking point - addressing them sooner saves unnecessary stress Some doors need to close before others can open Consistently choosing people who match your values transforms your life within months Memorable Quotes "You should do more, spend more time doing the things you love to do, and spend less time doing the things you don't like to do." "Find people that value your service. Find people who are really who and like you. Find people that match you, and just let the others go." "Give it a year of you consistently choosing people that match your values... and everything will change. That's a promise." Scott's Three-Step Approach Recognize the Unsustainable: Identify relationships or situations that consistently drain your energy or make you feel undervalued Reset Expectations: Have the necessary conversations to address issues, clearly communicate your boundaries and needs Be Prepared to Move On: If the relationship can't be salvaged, dare to walk away and create space for better-aligned people to enter your life Connect With Scott Search for The Daily Boost on Apple Podcasts and Spotify. LAB-381-Don't Use A Lithium Ion Battery Use On A 2024 & Newer Harley Davidson!

Official Website: https://www.lawabidingbiker.com I recently purchased a 2024 Harley-Davidson Street Glide, one of the latest models featuring a redesigned fairing and the new Infotainment Control Unit (IFCU) digital dash system. As someone who values reliability and performance, I opted to replace the stock lead-acid battery with a lithium-ion battery before embarking on a 10-day trip. Over the years, I've tested various lithium-ion batteries and prefer them because they are very lightweight, durable, and efficient.  The First Few Days: Everything Seemed Fine For the first three days of my trip, the Street Glide performed flawlessly with the new lithium-ion battery. The bike fired up without hesitation, and I had no reason to suspect any issues. However, on the third day, I began to notice that the bike was starting a bit slower than usual—a small concern that I decided to keep an eye on. SUPPORT US AND SHOP IN THE OFFICIAL LAW ABIDING BIKER STORE On the fourth morning, the bike started up just fine at the hotel. After a quick stop at Starbucks, though, it refused to start. The battery was completely dead. Thankfully, I had one of our compact jump starter packs from the Law Abiding Biker Store, which saved the day. Without it, I would have been stuck waiting for a tow service—something every biker should try to avoid. A jump start pack is an essential tool that every rider should carry to prevent costly and time-consuming interruptions. The Ride Continues: Persistent Issues With my Street Glide jump-started, we set out for a long day of riding. Although the bike started after each stop, it did so a bit slower than usual. Additionally, the battery indicator on the digital dash remained on, signaling that something was still wrong. Despite these issues, we pressed on. CHECK OUT OUR HUNDREDS OF FREE HELPFUL VIDEOS ON OUR YOUTUBE CHANNEL AND SUBSCRIBE! The Breakdown: A Dangerous Situation Later that day, just outside of Greensboro, NC, on a busy multi-lane freeway, my Street Glide suddenly went completely dead—without warning. I lost all power, including the digital dash system, and had to drift to the inside shoulder. Attempting to jump-start the bike again proved futile, as it wouldn't even power on. Left behind by my riding group, I quickly contacted them to secure a replacement battery. They managed to find a lead-acid battery and brought it back to my location. Fortunately, I was prepared with my Cruz Tools RTH3 emergency roadside tool kit, also available at the Law Abiding Biker Store. We swapped out the lithium-ion battery for the lead-acid one, and my bike started right up. This preparedness saved us valuable time and allowed us to continue our journey without further delay. The Aftermath: Investigating the Issue With the new lead-acid battery installed, the battery trouble indicator disappeared, and I had no further issues for the remainder of the trip. However, the situation left me with many questions. Was the problem caused by the lithium-ion battery? Has something changed in the 2024 models regarding the use of these batteries? And if so, why isn't this information widely known? Determined to find answers, I reached out to my connections within Harley-Davidson. After two weeks of communication, I received the following statement: Harley-Davidson's Statement:  Lithium batteries are not approved by HD fitment for Revolution Max and center-cooled models due to the unique features of the electrical system and software on those vehicles. We continue to evaluate those systems' interactions, the changes needed to possibly enable fitment, and consumer demand. Any potential future changes to enable lithium batteries will be communicated to the field and dealer network via fitment updates or service bulletins. Tired of a sore and achy ass? Then fix it with a high-quality Butt Buffer seat cushion? My Opinion: What Likely Happened Based on my experience with lithium-ion batteries, here's my take on what likely happened. Lithium-ion batteries are “smart” and can go into sleep mode if they are drawn down too far. I believe that's what happened when my Street Glide suddenly went dead on the freeway. The battery likely went into safe mode, cutting off power to the entire bike. While the charging system is fully capable of charging the battery, the new electrical system in the 2024 models—especially with the IFCU digital dash—might have different protections in place. These protections could allow the main battery to draw down further before it begins recharging, which might explain why a lead-acid battery, which isn't “smart” and doesn't go to sleep, worked without issue. Again, this is just my opinion based on what I've observed. Conclusion: Be Prepared and Stay Informed My experience underscores the importance of being prepared and staying informed about your motorcycle's components, especially when dealing with new technology. Whether it's carrying a reliable jump pack or a comprehensive roadside tool kit, being prepared can save you from potentially time consuming and costly situations. As Harley-Davidson continues to evaluate the use of lithium-ion batteries in their newer models, it's crucial for riders to stay updated wich is why I made this video and wrote this article.  New Patrons: Ola Mattisgården of Rydsgård, Sweden Jeffrey Porras of Phoenix, AZ Stephen Gates of Fort Collins, Colorado If you appreciate the content we put out and want to make sure it keeps on coming your way then become a Patron too! Hello everyone and welcome once again to Motos and Friends, brought to you by the Editors at Ultimate Motorcycling magazine.  I'm Arthur Coldwells. This week, Editors Don Williams and Nic de Sena discuss the 2024 Harley-Davidson Street Glide. The new Street Glide has had a total revamp, from the new fairing and lights, to the engine and chassis, the Street Glide is now an even more serious bagger than before. Nic and Don take us through their experiences with the new machine and why they're so pumped on the changes. In the second segment this week, recently appointed Head of MV Agusta North America, Luca Dovesi, chats with me about his vision for MV Agusta North America. Luca talks about the challenges he's facing and how he plans to leverage KTM's sales and distribution expertise to rebuild faith in the MV Agusta brand. Here you have it Motorcycle Boys and Girls.... Episode 15 is here to tickle your ears.We did have fun tonight and we did have a guest. Kelly "Woody" Woodring was in the V-Twin diner corner booth with us and told us about is brandy new Street Glide and his favorite rides.  Tim also told us about the dead bike mystery that he was befuddled with and of course the squeak on my Heritage continues and we discussed that as well. This episode we also talked about the required tools of the trade if you are going to work on your Harley. But if you go to www.cruztools.com you can find a tool kit for your bike regardless of what you ride!!The Bike Spec Shootout was a good one today and despite all the comments, the bikes are really freaking cool.  One of them you really have to check out is the super cool Janus Halycon 250.  It's a classic looking custom bike and for you folks who really dig the vintage look of the old Indians and Harley's, this is the bike for you. There was some fun being had with the name and the look of the bike but in reality, it's a great machine and would probably be blast to ride and even more so to own.  And they're affordable!!  Check them out at  www.janusmotorcycles.com Now if your tastes are more geared towards the space age super duper rocket ships and you have deep pockets, you'll want to check out Confederate Motorcycles X132 Hellcat Speedster. This is one bad-ass looking bike, but, leave the better half at home because this is a solo rider bike. It's got loads of power and some really cool design. For our guest we threw in the Harley Davidson Street Glide in the shootout.  This classic and most popular of Harley's bikes is loaded with a lot of technology and great deal of classic design. Comfort is the king here and if that's what you are looking for... then this is the ride for you. Check it out at Harley Davidson and pick a color! So check out these cool bikes and let them know what you think.  Good bike companies and good bikes need to hear your voice. Thanks for listening and we'll be back in two weeks with out season finale and will return with Season 2 just after labor day.  Now get out there and ride that bike dammit!!TedThe Motorcycle Men  Support the show (https://www.paypal.com/donate/?token=zPl7v5FjoO6fCov5rwbFo35sxmoOIUqUhcR1q1UVtP34xAVolJzW0aJ6GNSdljsPAT4MC0&fromUL=true&country.x=US&locale.x=en_US)

Official Website: http://www.lawabidingbiker.com PODCAST-The Biker Gripper is absolutely the best cell phone/smartphone, GPS, EFI Tuner, and radar detector mounting solution on the market. We here at Law Abiding Biker™ Podcast & Media tested it for a long period of time, over thousands of miles, on different bikes, Mounted it in different positions,  and while holding different devices. Believe it when I say your device will not come out of the 18 lbs of grip strength the Biker Gripper provides. Over several years the Biker Gripper went through a couple violent motorcycle crashes here at Law Abiding Biker™. First was my high side crash on my 2011 Harley Davidson Street Glide in Oregon. Yup, a complete high side after getting squirley in some gravel around a corner. My Harley was nearly totaled and laying on it's side. My iPhone did not move and was still secured and untouched in the Biker Gripper! That was my first  thought that we should put our logo on this thing and sell it in our own store to bikers who want the best. I totally believe the good Lord was watching over me when I high sided and it was a lower speed. I was flung like Superman into some soft powder type dirt just past the shoulder of the road! I had no real injuries to speak of. Next, Chewy was riding two up with his wife on the back of his 2013 Harley Davidson Street Glide and slid low side. The bike slid away from them and violently smashed into a guard rail. The bike hit the guard rail so hard that it stood back up and traveled another 50' or so along the guard rail before falling over again. It hit the guard rail so hard that one of his saddlebags exploded so to speak & the bike was just shy of being totaled with a bent frame. Chewy and his wife had road rash, but other than that they got out of it okay. Yup, you guessed it-in the Biker Gripper was his iPhone 6 Plus completely untouched! Now, I love the Biker Gripper, but I never imagined that it would stay in on such a violent crash, so it even surprised me. We trust the Biker Gripper so much that we put our own Law Abiding Biker logo on it and our stamp of approval. It is truly biker tested and we carry it exclusively in the Law Abiding Biker Store. It is the sexiest, sleekest, and strongest cell phone motorcycle mount on the market. Don't settle for all the cheap ugly cell phone motorcycle mounts on the internet, eBay, and Amazon. If you want the best then the Biker Gripper Cell Phone, GPS, Radar Detector, and EFI Tuner motorcycle mount is for you! Official Website: http://www.lawabidingbiker.com  Podcast-Jake here at Law Abiding Biker™ Media purchased a brand new Harley Davidson Street Glide Special (FLHXS) in early April of 2015 from a local Harley Davidson dealership. He traded in his 2012 Road King to make this purchase. I wanted to put this podcast & article out for our entire Law Abiding Biker Community or anyone else who may be considering purchasing this motorcycle. Harley Davidson Boom!™ Box Infotainment System! 3 Must See videos on everything you need to know on how to operate the new Boom!™ Box Infotainment System. Don't be frustrated, I will show you how. TUTORIAL VIDEO-Complete Harley Davidson "Boom Box" Infotainment System GPS Stereo Tutorial  TUTORIAL VIDEO-Harley Davidson Boom Box Infotainment Software & Map Update Tutorial TUTORIAL VIDEO-Complete Harley Davidson Ride Planner & GPS Guide He ended purchasing the vivid black colored model, which costs less than a model with other custom colors. The 2015 Street Glide Special sports the air cooled 103” cu in V-Twin High Output Motor (1690 cc). There is also an integrated oil cooler. This 103 cu in V-Twin now comes stock with the 255 cam kit already installed. The 255 cam offers substantial increase in low-end torque. He has has been very impressed with the performance of this motor and it is a runner for sure. It is awesome to have that extra power at take off and when passing for certain. This bike really gets up and goes and feels extremely smooth. The 2015 Street Glide Special comes stock with a hydraulic clutch, 6 speed Cruise Drive transmission, of course the 6 gallon fuel tank, and the bike weighs in at 818 lbs. The motor has Electronic Sequential Port Fuel Injection (ESPFI). The engine is said to get around 42 miles per gallon combined city/highway and we have found that to be accurate. The 2015 Street Glide Special sports beautiful stock black Enforcer Cast Aluminum wheels on front and back. The front wheel is 19 inches and has a Dunlop D408F 130/60B19 tire, while the rear wheel is 16 inches and has a Dunlop D407T 180/65B16. The tires handle well and you can drag floorboards all day long around corners! The gauges on the dash now run along the top, making room for the 6” touch screen Boom Box Infotainment System below. Check out our #1 Ranked Boom Box Tutorial Video!. The system is pretty awesome, but there is a rather steep learning curve. We teach you everything you  need to know on how to operate the new system and how to keep your software up to date, which is critical. The speedometer and tachometer are 10% larger and have 68% wider numbers. It has a 28% larger fuel and volt gauge with 30% wider numbers. The display features odometer, trip A, trip B, range to empty, and gear indicator. All the gauges are beautifully backlit. On the left handlebar controls on top is a trigger switch (odometer, trip A, trip B, and range to empty). Also on the left handlebar controls is a switch to operate voice commands via a headset to the Boom Box Infotainment System. The cruise control is now solely operated by a joystick and has been moved to the left handlebar controls. Now you can rock the throttle back with your right hand and set the cruise with your left. This was a very nice change. On the right handlebar controls is an information switch to display ambient temperature, oil pressure and whether your engine idle temperature management system (EITMS) is enabled. This is all displayed on the large 6” Boom Box Infotainment System Screen. These are all new ergonomic hand controls and include joysticks on each side to control all the functions of the Boom Box Infotainment System and cruise control. I can tell you that everything to operate the electronics is right at your fingertips and feels great! The inside of the fairing is beautiful on the 2014 Street Glide Special and is painted in an eye catching gloss black finish. This really completes the inside of fairing and makes it stand out. Of course the new front fairing vent or "wind tunnel" is a huge new addition to the 2014 Street Glide Special. You can close the vent by a large button on the upper left inside of the fairing. This new vent is placed there to reduce head buffeting, which it does. Essentially the air rushes through the fairing vent and shoots a wall of air straight up in front of you in order to slow the oncoming air. This is my assessment of how it operates. I have tested this vent "wind tunnel" in all different conditions and at many different speeds. My personal estimation is that it reduces head buffering by about 25-30%. The only time I can see that I would close the vent is during extremely heavy rains or hail. I have opened it and closed on very cold mornings and nights and it does not seem to matter. The only downfall to the new fairing vent is that you would not want to install inside fairing storage pouches on your dash, as it would block the wind tunnel, but I believe the trade off is well worth it. The FLHXS comes standard with dual front brakes, ABS, and the new linked braking system they call the Reflex Braking System. Essentially in an emergency stop, not only do the ABS brakes kick in, but if you apply too much front or rear brakes, the sensors within recognize this problem and even out the braking pressures. This all results in very quick braking in an emergency. New Patrons: Carl Lingelbach of Appolo, PA Robert Henze of Walden NY If you appreciate the content we put out and want to make sure it keeps on coming your way then become a Patron too! There are benefits and there is no risk. The beautiful thing is that the linked braking system does not kick in until 20-25 mph. This is super important for motorcycle law enforcement officers, who do a lot of low speed aggressive maneuvers and have to use the rear brake a lot while doing so. On other brands of bikes that had similar linked type brakes, they activated even at very low speeds, making the slow speed maneuvers much more difficult for the police motorcycle officer. This of course goes for anyone who practices or knows how to perform aggressive slow speed maneuvers. Harley Davidson really thought this one out! A few other things worth mentioning are the restyled hard saddle bags with a one touch design latch, dual halogen headlight, 49 mm telescopic front forks, stiffer triple clamps, larger steering bearings, low profile front fender, Jukebox media compartment with a USB connection and one touch access door, and of course the Harley Davidson Factory Security System with hands free security fob. All these additions and changes have made an awesome riding 2014 Harley Davidson Street Glide Special. The bike is tight, smooth, fast, and powerful. It corners like a dream and it is even hard to tell how fast you are going unless looking at the speedometer. That is how smooth this bike runs. The new Boom Box Infotainment System with integrated GPS is just what I was calling for. The audio system sounds great and can be heard fine, even at freeway speeds. The only thing we did to the bike for now is install an aftermarket EFI tuner and replaced the stock mufflers with Vance and Hines Dresser Twin Slash Rounds slip on mufflers. We have a free video on removing/installing aftermarket exhaust. We also have a free tutorial video on installing a Stage One Air Intake and installing a Dyno Jet Power Commander V EFI tuner, which we will be doing eventually. Just when you think there is nothing more Harley Davidson can do to make their bikes even better, they knock it out of the park! Well done Harley Davidson and you should be very proud of this bike! What are the difference and specifications? What are the difference in prices and why? Should I buy a Harley, Victory, Indian, Yamaha, or Kawasaki? We dive deep into this topic and you really have to listen in to this episode to get all the details. We call all these bikes the "Harley Street Glide" class, because the Street Glide is The Motor Company’s perennial best-seller, and the new “Special” edition is the world’s favorite bagger. It is simply a fact that Harley came up with the overall look and style of this class of bagger and the other manufacturers have been chasing it every since trying to get a piece of the pie. Harley has been developing and designing this bike for many years and the others are all fairly new to the game in comparison. Harley has had much time to perfect and test the Street Glide. Not that the others aren't good bikes, but just stating the facts. The 2014 contenders we chose to compete with the Harley Street Glidein the "cool baggers" class are Victory Cross County Indian Cheiftain Yamaha Star Stratoliner Deluxe Kawasaki Vulcan Vaquero ABS SE MSRP Indian Chieftan $22,999 Harley Street Glide is $20,599 Victory is $18,999 Kawasaki is $18,699 Star is $17,240 EFI All are fuel injected Engines Harley Street Glide is 103 CI/ 1690 CC High Output V-Twin Air Cooled Integrated oil cooler Victory is 106 CI / 1731 CC V-Twin Air CooledStar Stratoliner Deluxe 113-cubic-inch/ 1854cc air-cooled V-twin Integrated oil cooler Indian is ThunderStroke 111 CI/ 1811 CC air cooled Kawasaki is liquid-cooled V-Twin/ 1,700cc / 103.7ci Patreon DO YOU WANT TO BECOME A PATRON AND SUPPORT US?
