You can watch the Harley launch video HERE. Harley introduced the all-new Road Glide, Street Glide, CVO Road Glide ST, and the Pan America. The launch video is of good cinematic quality and tells the story of the creation of these new bikes. As with other large corporations, the video is selling you a vision and a lifestyle but lacks product detail. Don't worry, we have your back. We give you the information you want. Next week, I'm attending a press ride of the new Road Glide, Street Glide, and CVO Road Glide ST. Stay tuned to the Law Abiding Biker Podcast and YouTube Channel for my review of the new bikes. Both models feature an evolved fairing profile that appears refreshingly modern yet retains Harley-Davidson design DNA that makes them instantly familiar. Additional key features include: An updated Milwaukee-Eight® 117 V-Twin engine features a new cooling system that further optimizes thermal comfort for the rider and enhanced intake and exhaust flow to boost performance. In this episode Randy and I yap about what we think are the best V-Twin engines of all time. Also, I go to the “Cycle Showcase” bike show in St. Louis, and we go off on a mini tangent on what we think is the best motorcycle engine of all time.
Our guest on Episode 54 of the Rider Magazine Insider Podcast is Kevin Duke, Editor-in-Chief at American Rider, a V-Twin magazine published by the same company that owns Rider magazine. Duke and host Greg Drevenstedt are long-time friends, and they've attended many motorcycle press launches and events together. They talk about their shared history – including bungee jumping off the 700-foot Bloukrans Bridge in South Africa – as well as the unique stories, features, and event coverage in American Rider. If you love American-made motorcycles and the community that surrounds them, then you should check it out at AmericanRider.com.
Official Website: https://www.lawabidingbiker.com On January 18, 2023, the Harley-Davidson New 2023 Models were released. This included seven anniversary models, two new models, and the return of one model. In this episode, we wrapped up everything we learned and put it into a nice package for you. See our video on the topic! Anniversary Models The first six of the seven total anniversary models share a unique paint scheme described as Heirloom Red with a Midnight Crimson Fade and highlighted powertrain components. These models will have oxblood-colored inserts on the seats. And, the Anniversary models sharing this paint scheme are the Ultra Limited, Tri Glide Ultra, Street Glide Special, Road Glide Special, Fat Boy, and Heritage Classic. SUPPORT US AND SHOP IN THE OFFICIAL LAW ABIDING BIKER STORE The seventh Anniversary Model is the CVO Road Glide Limited, being the only anniversary model with the larger 117 Cubic Inch M8 engine. Its paint is a bit different and can be described as Anniversary Black and Midnight Crimson fade. And when viewed in the sun there is a red highlight to the black. A subdued eagle split up between the fairing, tank, and bags. Generally speaking, only about 3,000 to 1100 of each anniversary model will be released and they'll all have serialized consoles. CHECK OUT OUR HUNDREDS OF FREE HELPFUL VIDEOS ON OUR YOUTUBE CHANNEL AND SUBSCRIBE! NEW MODELS The Breakout is returning to the lineup with that beautiful Milwaukee-Eight 117 V-Twin engine. This bike will have a very wide rear tire, coming in at 240mm, a 5-gallon gas tank, and a 36-degree front rake, which makes it a long, low, wide, modern cruiser. The Nightster Special is the next new model for 2023. What's so “Special” about this new Nightster? To start, it has a passenger pillion and footpegs to allow two-up riding. The handlebars and risers move the bars up and back for a more commanding rider position. It has a four-inch round TFT display, replacing the analog speedometer and segmented LCD indicators, allowing for BlueTooth connectivity and navigation. The Nightster Special is coming standard with cruise control, USB charging port, and you can add heated grips. This new model is going to be a surprise for some. And for many out there, it is a long time coming. It is the all-new Road Glide 3 Trike. I'm going to say right up front that even if you've never been interested in trikes, this one is sure to turn your head a bit. Many riders have requested a Road Gide trike for years now and it looks like Harley made it happen. A lot of engineering went into making the first Harley trike with a frame-mounted fairing including things like the placement of the fairing to accommodate the long rake and steering dampening of the trike. Husband and wife team, Rodney and Melissa Shrum are the "horsepower" behind Millennium Technology's Revolution Performance division specializing in V-Twin performance. Their two-decades long career has taken them to places in the industry that most never get a chance to experience. We met two-years ago in Sturgis but we REALLY connected on the High Seas Rally. We talked about the industry and how we could all make it a better place to do business and the challenges of bringing manufacturing back in country during the last two-years. Official Website: https://www.lawabidingbiker.com I recently test rode and reviewed the new Harley-Davidson 2022 Street Glide ST. Harley shipped me the bike and let me have it for 30 days so I was able to really evaluate it. This bike was a dream to ride and overall performed very well. This bike comes with the Milwaukee-Eight 117 ci air/oil cooled V-Twin engine with a heavy breather, making around 106 horsepower and 126 ft. lbs. of torque. That was apparent when I got into the power band at around 3500 rpm. The bike has plenty of get up and go and you can easily pass and get around slower traffic. This bike was inspired by the King of the Baggers series and you should really check it out if you haven't. This ST sits an inch higher than a Harley Street Glide Special model, which makes it the same height as models such as the Ultra Limited. This provides for more lean angle on the ST model and I found that to be the case during my testing. SUPPORT US AND SHOP IN THE OFFICIAL LAW ABIDING BIKER STORE Harley was able to shave 13 lbs off the Street Glide ST in comparison to a Street Glide Special model, making the ST weigh in at around 814 lbs in operating condition. Some of the weight savings are because the Harley Street Glide ST only comes with a solo seat and has no passenger pegs but you can add both after purchase. The saddlebags are also squared off and don't contour the mufflers like on the special models. Law Abiding Biker Podcast Episode #295: The Harley Street & Road Glide ST-Guests Paul James, Bjorn Shuster, and Eric Buckhouse of Harley-Davidson The Street Glide ST has a 19-inch front tire and 18-inch rear tire, 49 mm dual bending valve front forks, premium standard height (13 inch) hand-adjustable rear suspension, dual front and single disc rear brakes, 6 speed transmission, Boom Box GTS Infotainment System, and 6 gallon fuel tank. The ST gets 41 mpg in premium operating conditions. CHECK OUT OUR HUNDREDS OF FREE HELPFUL VIDEOS ON OUR YOUTUBE CHANNEL AND SUBSCRIBE! The Harley Street Glide ST is a great foundation if you are going to build it out as more of a hot rod. It was designed for weight, power, and performance and for it to be faster, more nimble, and have more lean angle. And, for the first time you get that CVO power train in a non-CVO bike The ST is really a blank canvas for performance parts and you could easily make the Milwaukee Eight 117 ci engine a 131 ci engine with a stage four kit. There are plenty of OEM Harley performance parts for the Street Glide ST to include Ohlins suspension. And as always, you'll get an honest review on this website and on our YouTube Channel. Yes, Harley loaned me the bike but in no way was I paid for this review and Harley has never told me what or what I cannot say or I simply would not do these reviews. NEW FREE VIDEO RELEASED: A Real World Harley Street Glide ST Ride and Review Pros: I really liked the stock stereo system with the Boom Box GTS Infotainment System with two-way speakers and it was pretty loud and clear, even when traveling at freeway speeds with a full-face helmet. During the time we had the ST we did a Boss Audio Stereo/Amp Kit install on another bike and tested it against the stock Harley system. Of course, the Boss Audio system was much louder. I like that the Harley Street Glide ST sits an inch higher for that extra lean angle and I really liked the look of the differing front fender. I am 5'-08" tall and the bike fit me fine and I was flat footed when stopped with plenty of bend in my knees. The stock seat was pretty comfortable and has a nice curve up in the back, keeping you in the saddle when rolling the throttle and giving some lower back support. But, if I was long distance touring I'd replace the seat. The stock suspension performed very well, even when on a gravel road with potholes. Cons: The Boom Box Infotainment System does not come with a WHIM (Wireless Headset Interface Module) out of the factory. The WHIM allows you to have Bluetooth headset connectivity with the Boom Box while using a Harley branded Sena wireless headset. You need this to activate both Apple Car Play and Android Auto. You can also use a Harley branded 7 pin wired headset instead. If you want any wireless headset functionality though, you'll have to add a WHIM during or after your purchase. I think that all Harley's with the Boom Box should come stock with the WHIM like the CVO models do. The Harley Street Glide ST comes with a LED headlight and taillight but the front and rear signals are still halogens. Lurch is 6'-4" tall and also test rode this bike. He reported that his shin was up against the heavy breather and that he'd have to change that out immediately with a lower profile air intake. He'd also move the floorboards forward, install an extended brake pedal, and install taller handlebars. Final Thoughts: Really, the question is whether you spend the extra $2,500 on the Harley Street Glide ST or save it by buying a Street Glide Special. I'd say that if you are really looking to have a hot rod of a bike, add many performance parts, and really push it in the corners then the ST should be your choice. If you're looking to do more relaxed riding, tour long distances, and maybe have a passenger, the Street Glide Special is all set up for that upon purchase with a passenger seat and pegs and is $2,500 less. But, it does have the smaller Milwaukee-Eight 114 ci engine with a few less horsepower and overall torque. It's still a great engine and has plenty of power for most. With that said, make no mistake about it, the Harley Street Glide ST would be awesome too for long distance touring if you set it up with a passenger seat and pegs. Overall, I can say that you will not be disappointed if you buy the Harley Street Glide ST and it was a dream to ride. Sponsor-Ciro 3D CLICK HERE! Laguna Seca is located in Monterey California and is a world renown racetrack for all skill levels and types of motorcycles and cars. King of the baggers was held from July 8 to 10 and it was a great time. I wanted to give you guys a recap of my experience and what the day was like for me. Some funny stories and good times in this podcast. It was a early morning and ling night followed by a solo ride back home. I got to walk the paddock area and of course a bunch of my homies were in attendance. V-Twin visionary held a show on both days and the bikes that showed up were on point. Official Website: https://www.lawabidingbiker.com In this episode, I'm joined by Lurch and we discuss that Harley-Davidson recently flew me to Santa Barbara, California to test ride and review the 2022 Nightster. It was a very quick 4-day trip, 2 of those days being travel days. Understand, Harley-Davidson paid for the flights, meals, and lodging. However, no contract was mentioned or signed and I was never told what I could or could not say, so I will give you an unbiased real-world biker review as always. Now, I had many questions about this new Nightster and anticipated how it might feel and handle when riding it. There was only one way to find out and it started when I arrived at the Hilton Santa Barbara Beachfront Resort where I'd be staying for the next few days, and I got checked into my room. I quickly made my way to dinner where Harley had set up the "instrument of expression" launch event. SUPPORT US AND SHOP IN THE OFFICIAL LAW ABIDING BIKER STORE As I walked around the room this first night I had time to really think about what the new 2022 Nightster means now and to the future of Harley-Davidson as a company. I really had time to reflect on Harley-Davidson's rich history with their bikes of the past, and in many ways, they've carried much of that history over and put it into their present-day motorcycles. As Willie G. Davidson once said, "Everything we do is the notion that form follows function-but both report to emotion" and I wanted to see if that would be the case with the Nightster. But, what do these new water-cooled Revolutions Max engines in the Pan America, Sporster S, and now the 2022 Nightster with the 975T version really mean? Is Harley fazing out the traditional big V-Twin air-cooled engines? During my time in and around Santa Barbara, I'd get these questions answered and a whole bunch more. Make sure to watch my review video to find out the answers. CHECK OUT OUR HUNDREDS OF FREE HELPFUL VIDEOS ON OUR YOUTUBE CHANNEL AND SUBSCRIBE! I found the 2022 Nightster to be a fast nimble bike that was very capable of carving up twisty canyon roads. The horsepower may be intimidating to new riders, but that can be mitigated by the different ride modes. The bike can be tamed down by using Rain Mode, then a rider could progress to Road Mode, and eventually Sport Mode. The Nightster was designed with customization in mind. I think Harley did a great job designing it. NEW FREE VIDEO RELEASED: Harley-Davidson 2022 Nightster! Is This The Beginning? Test Ride & Review! There were a few negatives I found, and admittedly they are a bit nit-picky. First, the front-mounted radiator is not visually appealing to me personally. I know it's required to get the performance and horsepower out of the engine. I guess I'm old-school and I'll just have to learn to get used to the radiator. Secondly, the plastic trim on top of the tank (airbox) looks cheap and is a bit flimsy. I would have liked to see something made of metal in its place. And lastly, the control switch housings were also made of plastic. I would prefer metal ones like on my Street Glide Special. Sponsor-Ciro 3D CLICK HERE! Official Website: https://www.lawabidingbiker.com In this podcast episode, I explain what you need to know about the new 2021 Harley-Davidson model line-up. These were all revealed at Harley's first-ever global virtual launch event held online on January 19, 2021. I put a video out on our YouTube Channel shortly after the event. SEE VIDEO-The Real 2021 Harley Model Event-The Facts & Issues You Need to Know!! There are some issues I discovered, such as the new 2021 Harley touring models are coming with a cable clutch instead of a hydraulic clutch that has been on touring models since 2014. There were some recalls on the hydraulic clutch system over the years but it seemed to have been resolved. We really have no idea why Harley did this because these are supposed to be “premium motorcycles” and cable clutches are yesterday's technology. I think this is going to irritate many customers since other motorcycle companies are using hydraulic clutches. SUPPORT US AND SHOP IN THE OFFICIAL LAW ABIDING BIKER STORE And it seems at this time that you can no longer put current model aftermarket electronic fuel injection (EFI) tuners on your Harley. They seemed to have changed the data port, so the current tuners won't plug into the engine control module (ECM). I have no doubt though, that aftermarket EFI tuner companies are already working on a solution for this, so it will just be a matter of time. Until then, you can only use a Harley Screamin' Eagle (SE) EFI tuner but they are terrible and don't do much as far as tuning. Harley can use and sell the SE tuner because it is restricted and therefore EPA compliant. This is also likely the reason Harley had to make this overall data port change, to try and block aftermarket tuners that are not restricted. The new Harley CVO line-up will be the Street Glide, Road Glide, Limited, and Tri-Glide, which all have several paint options. They will be coming with the Milwaukee-Eight 117 ci. V-Twin engine. Harley partnered with Rockford Fosgate and the Street Glide CVO and Road Glide CVO will not come with the Harley Audio by Rockford Fosgate Stage 2 Audio system. The Limited and Tri-Glide will come with the standard Boom Audio Stage 1. CHECK OUT OUR HUNDREDS OF FREE HELPFUL VIDEOS ON OUR YOUTUBE CHANNEL AND SUBSCRIBE! The Harley “special” series models will be the Street Glide, Road Glide, and Road King. Harley may have been listening to customers because you now have a black or chrome option on the Street Glide Special and Road Glide Special but not on the Road King Special. Many traditional chrome lovers were not happy that the special models only came in a blacked-out option over the past years. These special models will have the Milwaukee-Eight 114 ci. V-Twin engine. Also revealed were the Street Bob 114 and the iconic Fat Boy for 2021 and they both look great. Overall, the bikes and paint options look great on these 2021 Harley models and I'm excited to see them in person at some point. It's also worth noting that on February 22, 2021, Harley released their first adventure touring motorcycle, the Pan America. For more info, see my video and article below. Tune in for one of the most exciting Snow Bike episodes as we talk with Riley Will of BRC Engineering about his revolutionary 500cc 2 Stroke Engine built on the KTM 250 or 300 engine and KTM chassis. This episode was recorded on August 2018 so it's been in the warehouse for a while! In this episode, we also discuss the V-Twin 600 Engine which was a prototype Riley developed for Timbersled. The idea was to be first to snow with a purpose-built SnowBike rather than a kit. Unfortunately, Polaris bought Timbersled and the V-Twin never made it to market. The engine made 120hp, 78.5ftlbs and was as narrow as a single cylinder. Perfect for a SnowBike! Riley got a patent for the drivetrain on a single ski and track snow vehicle hoping that in the future the OEMs will go this route. Here is the BRC 500cc Engine in Snow Bike Form! The BRC 500cc 2 Stroke Engine is like nothing the world has ever seen before! Riley Will and his team at BRC Engineering have achieved something truly revolutionary for the Dirt Bike world and in particular, we at Snow Bike Nation are most excited about its application as a Snow Bike! Photo Source: https://dirtbikemagazine.com/brc-ktm-500cc-2-stroke-conversion-two-stroke-tuesday/ "In a side by side comparison, you can see the straightforward design approach of the BRC 500cc and the comparison with the stock donor engine. Weight distribution remains comparable and rotational inertia is far less than that of a big bore four stroke." https://dirtbikemagazine.com/brc-ktm-500cc-2-stroke-conversion-two-stroke-tuesday/ Photo Source: http://brcracing.ca/ THE KIT COSTS $5635 IN U.S. DOLLARS OR $7500 IN CANADIAN DOLLARS. THE KIT INCLUDES EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO BUILD THE ENGINE, INCLUDING BEARINGS, SEALS, GASKETS, FITTINGS, FASTENERS AND EVEN THE DYNO-TUNED FMF PIPE AND SILENCER. Photo Source: http://2smokin.com/brc-racings-500cc-two-stroke-kit-for-ktms/ You can order the engine directly from their website though I recommend giving BRC a call to discuss the details and make sure they have some available! http://brcracing.ca/ Motocross Action Mag put it best about the 500cc 2 Stroke Big Bore Engine: https://motocrossactionmag.com/we-ride-the-brc-500cc-two-stroke-kit-bike/ "The 500cc two-stroke engine became extinct in 2000 when the last Honda CR500 came down Honda’s Kumamoto production line in Japan. Kawasaki retired its KX500 in 2004. The last Yamaha WR500 was produced in 1993. Suzuki had a short-lived RM500 venture that came to an end in the mid-1980s. And, well, KTM ended its 500cc program in 1993, then went bigger to a 550cc sidecar engine that only lasted until 1995. These warhorses that were made for the men among men were forgotten over time. Big-displacement two-strokes took riders with finesse and a few screws loose to tame them. Now, in a world populated by heavy, complex, 450cc four-stroke engines that pump out 60-plus horsepower off the showroom floor, the 500cc two-stroke doesn’t seem as intimidating to ride as it once did. Riders like Sean Collier and Tyler Bowers have shown that these 500cc beasts can be manhandled. In recent years, the 500cc two-stroke market has been booming, and without any manufacturers producing these big-bore engines, the used 500cc market has exploded. New parts are few and far between and used parts only last so long. This is why the BRC Engineering team came together to find a solution to the problem." Photo Source: https://motocrossactionmag.com/we-ride-the-brc-500cc-two-stroke-kit-bike/ Based in Calgary, Alberta BRC Engineering specializes in the design and manufacture of premium high-pressure flow control products for the oil and gas industry. BRC Engineering has its roots as a full-service machine shop and continues to provide CNC machining, CMM inspection, precision assembly, and pressure testing services to customers in the energy, agriculture, forestry, mining, medical, defense, aerospace, and motorsports industries. Founded in 1996 by Brian Will, BRC Engineering is now run by his sons, Carter and Riley, who manage a team of talented personnel, including professional engineers, design technologists, and journeyman machinists dedicated to providing world-class solutions. BRC Engineering’s state of the art computer-aided design and manufacturing equipment, combined with strict quality control procedures ensures superior product quality with on-time delivery. Riley was a Kart racer growing up and they started a Kart Racing shop where they imported products from Europe and supplied the local and North American Kart racing market. In 2002 they sold the kart shop and focused on manufacturing engines as part of our business. Motorsports had been a smaller part of their business until recently. Hosted by Andrew Quinn and Darren Mooney, The 250 is a (mostly) weekly trip through some of the best (and worst) movies ever made, as voted for by Internet Movie Database Users. New episodes are released every Saturday at 6pm GMT, with the occasional bonus episode thrown in. This time, a special treat: David Lynch's Twin Peaks: The Return. Twenty-five years after Special Agent Dale Cooper disappeared from the small town of Twin Peaks in Washington, a series of strange occurrances suggest that mysterious forces are still playing a dangerous game on the mortal plane. What connects a secret FBI task force, a sinister crime lord, an isolated rural community, a set of Las Vegas gangsters, a strange glass cube in New York, and a strange murder in South Dakota? It's happening again. At time of recording, it was ranked the ∞th best movie of all time on the Internet Movie Database. Part V. “This is the man I told you about.” This hour, Charlene Lydon (Element Pictures, the Lighthouse Cinema) joins us to talk about masculinity, the three Coopers... and Wally Brando.
Alright trivia buffs: What do Arlen Ness, Donnie Smith, Click Baldwin, Willie G. Davidson, and Brian Klock have in common? Answer: They are ALL motorcycle legends. Brian Klock is the Founder and President of Klock Werks Kustom Cycles. As a child, suffering from severe asthma, little did he know that this “pain” would help shape him into the creative genius he is today. In this episode, Brian talks about the heroes who believed in him; and how their positivity fueled his efforts to invent a motorcycle part that has revolutionized the V-Twin industry. In recent years, Jack Daniels, Indian Motorcycles and Klock Werks have teamed together to build limited edition bikes for various causes. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/palmharvest/message

We met Jeff in 2016 at the FXR show. We have been friends ever since. In January of this year Jeff left Hot Bike magazine to pursue his new project that was launched July 4th called "V-Twin Visionary", a multi media online hub full of new product, hot builds and trending builders. We bent his ear for a few minutes to see how the launch was, we talk a little BMX and Cody and I finish the episode with a bullsh!t session. The audio was a little "HOT" at times but what do you expect...I'm still a little rusty. Thanks and enjoy!

Now we also know that there are other types of bikes out there and we do comment and mention them frequently on our shows. However, one faction of the motorcycle world we don’t often speak of because we don’t understand it and to a lesser extent, do not appeal to us cruiser riders. Yes, I am talking about Electric motorcycles. Well, here to enlighten us… Mr. Richard Hatfield of Lightning motorcycles. For those of you out at AIMExpo this week, just know that we would have loved to be there but sometimes, most times, finances dictate actions and it is those times when we cannot do the things we love to or want to do. Perhaps another time we will meet you all. Have fun, be safe and ride a Harley for us. Join us next week when my brothers and co-hosts will join me in the V-Twin café for some brotherly banter and long distance fun. From Tim buktu, Chris the Joker and me, Ted, Wrongway, your host, and thanks for listening to the motorcycle Men podcast where we stay stupid crap so you don’t have to. Ride safer kids. Ben started tinkering with cars when he got into high school. When he enrolled at Georgia Tech for Mechanical Engineering (with a minor in Chemistry), his interest grafted towards electric cars. He participated in making a solar vehicle and modifying a Camaro to be a hybrid. Then he took it to the next level and made a tube-chassis hybrid car from scratch using a V-Twin engine, a forklift AC motor, a snowmobile CVT transmission, and batteries from a Smart Car. Ben kept bumping into Kevin Patrick of Exomotive at car shows around Atlanta. They got to talking and decided to team up to produce the Electrocet. It’s an electric version of the Exocet using driveline components from a Tesla Model S. To get the company going, Ben applied to an incubator at Georgia Tech and they decided to invest in Eddy Motorworks. They have created a teaser video that you can watch here. Their business model is to assemble the Electrocet’s and sell to customers as well as doing electric car conversions to conventional vehicles. They have been chosen as a semifinalist in the 2017 SEMA Launch Pad Competition. If they make it to the finals, they get to pitch their company and compete with 9 other business ideas for a chance at a free booth at SEMA in 2018 and lots of publicity.

Tim also told us about the dead bike mystery that he was befuddled with and of course the squeak on my Heritage continues and we discussed that as well. This episode we also talked about the required tools of the trade if you are going to work on your Harley. But if you go to www.cruztools.com you can find a tool kit for your bike regardless of what you ride!!The Bike Spec Shootout was a good one today and despite all the comments, the bikes are really freaking cool. One of them you really have to check out is the super cool Janus Halycon 250. It's a classic looking custom bike and for you folks who really dig the vintage look of the old Indians and Harley's, this is the bike for you. There was some fun being had with the name and the look of the bike but in reality, it's a great machine and would probably be blast to ride and even more so to own. And they're affordable!! Check them out at www.janusmotorcycles.com Now if your tastes are more geared towards the space age super duper rocket ships and you have deep pockets, you'll want to check out Confederate Motorcycles X132 Hellcat Speedster. This is one bad-ass looking bike, but, leave the better half at home because this is a solo rider bike. It's got loads of power and some really cool design. For our guest we threw in the Harley Davidson Street Glide in the shootout. This classic and most popular of Harley's bikes is loaded with a lot of technology and great deal of classic design. Comfort is the king here and if that's what you are looking for... then this is the ride for you. Official Website: http://www.lawabidingbiker.com Podcast-Jake here at Law Abiding Biker™ Media purchased a brand new Harley Davidson Street Glide Special (FLHXS) in early April of 2015 from a local Harley Davidson dealership. He traded in his 2012 Road King to make this purchase. I wanted to put this podcast & article out for our entire Law Abiding Biker Community or anyone else who may be considering purchasing this motorcycle. Harley Davidson Boom!™ Box Infotainment System! 3 Must See videos on everything you need to know on how to operate the new Boom!™ Box Infotainment System. Don't be frustrated, I will show you how. TUTORIAL VIDEO-Complete Harley Davidson "Boom Box" Infotainment System GPS Stereo Tutorial TUTORIAL VIDEO-Harley Davidson Boom Box Infotainment Software & Map Update Tutorial TUTORIAL VIDEO-Complete Harley Davidson Ride Planner & GPS Guide He ended purchasing the vivid black colored model, which costs less than a model with other custom colors. The 2015 Street Glide Special sports the air cooled 103” cu in V-Twin High Output Motor (1690 cc). There is also an integrated oil cooler. This 103 cu in V-Twin now comes stock with the 255 cam kit already installed. The 255 cam offers substantial increase in low-end torque. He has has been very impressed with the performance of this motor and it is a runner for sure. It is awesome to have that extra power at take off and when passing for certain. This bike really gets up and goes and feels extremely smooth. The 2015 Street Glide Special comes stock with a hydraulic clutch, 6 speed Cruise Drive transmission, of course the 6 gallon fuel tank, and the bike weighs in at 818 lbs. The motor has Electronic Sequential Port Fuel Injection (ESPFI). The engine is said to get around 42 miles per gallon combined city/highway and we have found that to be accurate. The 2015 Street Glide Special sports beautiful stock black Enforcer Cast Aluminum wheels on front and back. The front wheel is 19 inches and has a Dunlop D408F 130/60B19 tire, while the rear wheel is 16 inches and has a Dunlop D407T 180/65B16. The tires handle well and you can drag floorboards all day long around corners! The gauges on the dash now run along the top, making room for the 6” touch screen Boom Box Infotainment System below. Check out our #1 Ranked Boom Box Tutorial Video!. The system is pretty awesome, but there is a rather steep learning curve. We teach you everything you need to know on how to operate the new system and how to keep your software up to date, which is critical. The speedometer and tachometer are 10% larger and have 68% wider numbers. It has a 28% larger fuel and volt gauge with 30% wider numbers. The display features odometer, trip A, trip B, range to empty, and gear indicator. All the gauges are beautifully backlit. On the left handlebar controls on top is a trigger switch (odometer, trip A, trip B, and range to empty). Also on the left handlebar controls is a switch to operate voice commands via a headset to the Boom Box Infotainment System. The cruise control is now solely operated by a joystick and has been moved to the left handlebar controls. Now you can rock the throttle back with your right hand and set the cruise with your left. This was a very nice change. On the right handlebar controls is an information switch to display ambient temperature, oil pressure and whether your engine idle temperature management system (EITMS) is enabled. This is all displayed on the large 6” Boom Box Infotainment System Screen. These are all new ergonomic hand controls and include joysticks on each side to control all the functions of the Boom Box Infotainment System and cruise control. I can tell you that everything to operate the electronics is right at your fingertips and feels great! The inside of the fairing is beautiful on the 2014 Street Glide Special and is painted in an eye catching gloss black finish. This really completes the inside of fairing and makes it stand out. Of course the new front fairing vent or "wind tunnel" is a huge new addition to the 2014 Street Glide Special. You can close the vent by a large button on the upper left inside of the fairing. This new vent is placed there to reduce head buffeting, which it does. Essentially the air rushes through the fairing vent and shoots a wall of air straight up in front of you in order to slow the oncoming air. This is my assessment of how it operates. I have tested this vent "wind tunnel" in all different conditions and at many different speeds. My personal estimation is that it reduces head buffering by about 25-30%. The only time I can see that I would close the vent is during extremely heavy rains or hail. I have opened it and closed on very cold mornings and nights and it does not seem to matter. The only downfall to the new fairing vent is that you would not want to install inside fairing storage pouches on your dash, as it would block the wind tunnel, but I believe the trade off is well worth it. The FLHXS comes standard with dual front brakes, ABS, and the new linked braking system they call the Reflex Braking System. Essentially in an emergency stop, not only do the ABS brakes kick in, but if you apply too much front or rear brakes, the sensors within recognize this problem and even out the braking pressures. This all results in very quick braking in an emergency. New Patrons: Carl Lingelbach of Appolo, PA Robert Henze of Walden NY If you appreciate the content we put out and want to make sure it keeps on coming your way then become a Patron too! There are benefits and there is no risk. The beautiful thing is that the linked braking system does not kick in until 20-25 mph. This is super important for motorcycle law enforcement officers, who do a lot of low speed aggressive maneuvers and have to use the rear brake a lot while doing so. On other brands of bikes that had similar linked type brakes, they activated even at very low speeds, making the slow speed maneuvers much more difficult for the police motorcycle officer. This of course goes for anyone who practices or knows how to perform aggressive slow speed maneuvers. Harley Davidson really thought this one out! A few other things worth mentioning are the restyled hard saddle bags with a one touch design latch, dual halogen headlight, 49 mm telescopic front forks, stiffer triple clamps, larger steering bearings, low profile front fender, Jukebox media compartment with a USB connection and one touch access door, and of course the Harley Davidson Factory Security System with hands free security fob. All these additions and changes have made an awesome riding 2014 Harley Davidson Street Glide Special. The bike is tight, smooth, fast, and powerful. It corners like a dream and it is even hard to tell how fast you are going unless looking at the speedometer. That is how smooth this bike runs. The new Boom Box Infotainment System with integrated GPS is just what I was calling for. The audio system sounds great and can be heard fine, even at freeway speeds. The only thing we did to the bike for now is install an aftermarket EFI tuner and replaced the stock mufflers with Vance and Hines Dresser Twin Slash Rounds slip on mufflers. We have a free video on removing/installing aftermarket exhaust. We also have a free tutorial video on installing a Stage One Air Intake and installing a Dyno Jet Power Commander V EFI tuner, which we will be doing eventually. Just when you think there is nothing more Harley Davidson can do to make their bikes even better, they knock it out of the park! Well done Harley Davidson and you should be very proud of this bike! We dive deep into this topic and you really have to listen in to this episode to get all the details. We call all these bikes the "Harley Street Glide" class, because the Street Glide is The Motor Company’s perennial best-seller, and the new “Special” edition is the world’s favorite bagger. It is simply a fact that Harley came up with the overall look and style of this class of bagger and the other manufacturers have been chasing it every since trying to get a piece of the pie. Harley has been developing and designing this bike for many years and the others are all fairly new to the game in comparison. Harley has had much time to perfect and test the Street Glide. It is likely that with temperature changes you may have lost about 5 psi, as Lurch and I did. It can be tough on some models of motorcycles to get at the valve stems with a standard tire gauge. We happened to be in town and came across this handy little digital tire pressure gauge that will fit into tight places. Harley-Davidson Boom!™ Box Software Update 1.18.1 Harley-Davidson and Harman Kardon are running around like chickens with their heads cut off after the failure of the release of software version 1.18.1. It actually caused more problems than it fixed. My advice is not to update any software until Harley comes out with an even newer update version. I can't guarantee that will fix much either, but we can hope. Harley-Davidson and Harman Kardon are trying to avoid a massive recall on the Boom!™ Box system and loosing customers respect & support daily by remaining silent on the huge issues. Harley has even taken down the ability to download any new software versions on their website. I made a simple link for everyone to keep checking back to see when they have new software available. Get onto the free email list, as I send out critical Boom!™ Box updates. Harley is certainly not going to let you know what is going on. Emails Andy Havener of Fort Worth, Texas I just bought your video on heated grip install and it is worth every penny. Although your video is on an 2014 my bike is an 2013 Flhtcu but many things are the same except in the fuse box area. Also your update on Lerches 2008 when you talk about where to wire that plug, that plug is hot already. And makes for an easy hook up to the red wire from the heated grip. All in all Thanks again and I will be watching you in the future. He referenced our Harley Davidson Brand Heated Grips Install Video William Light of San Diego, California I have a 2015 Street Glide CVO with wiring inside the bars. Before I buy your video I need to know if you run all of the wires inside the bars? MY RESPONSE: Be careful bro for sure. Even our local dealership mechanics get confused between the years and different heated grip kits until they get it in hand. I have a very good relationship with them and they tell me a lot. Because some mechanics have installed on past models inside the bars that is not the case for the 2014 and above. Many mechanics have not even seen the new kit and procedures. The bikes are very new. Right side is internal. Left side is external, but the way Lurch and I did it, you can't even tell. I could run them through my bars too, but modifications outside Harley's recommendations would have to be made. Guarantee the dealer would have to modify to make that happen on a 2015. They usually don't do that, because then the job would not fall under warranty. Donald Meitz Heated grips installed. Before I watched your video, I was more than confused with the factory instructions. After I watched your video, the install couldn't have been any easier. Thanx a lot. Donnie, 2014 street glide. He referenced our Harley Davidson Brand Heated Grips Install Video Mark Holmes of Ontario, Canada Hi. Came across your site when searching out a question about the above bike. I'm a new rider and looking at buying my first bike. I'm 6'1" at 245 lbs and have been told to start on something in the 500 cc range. Was actually looking for a Kawasaki Vulcan 500 but then my daughter said to me "Dad, if you really end up liking it, go bigger from the start" I mulled this over after thinking of another friend that essentially did the same thing, but he just went out and bought a 1600 cc for the get go! I don't think I want to go that big, but would a 900 cc be a good purchase to start with? Do you have any how to videos on Kawasaki maintenance? I very easily found the answer I was looking for here (belt drive vs. chain drive) and it set my mind to ease. I have a line on a very low mileage 900 cc Vulcan for a really good price. Just wondering your thoughts on this bike. Lurch's Response: Thanks for sending your question. You’re a good sized guy and will quickly outgrow a 500cc bike. I think you’re right. The 900cc Vulcan will be a better fit for you. I bet you can ride that bike for a long time. My interment research showed favorable results for the Vulcan 900. It’s a good looking bike and it sounds like you have a line on a good one. I say buy it! Nothing beats getting out on the road and having your knees in the breeze. We unfortunately don’t have any Kawasaki maintenance videos at this time. Hopefully we can get some done in the future. We just need to get our hands on some metric bikes. ________________________________________________________________ CHECK US OUT AND SUBSCRIBE: Website: http://www.LawAbidingBiker.com Email & Voicemail: http://www.LawAbidingBiker.com/Contact Phone Hotline: 509-731-3548 Twitter: https://twitter.com/LawAbidingBiker Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/lawabidingbiker YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/scrappy587 Google Plus Page: https://plus.google.com/b/104041070580228657262/+Lawabidingbiker587 Instagram: http://instagram.com/lawabidingbiker RSS: feed://www.LawAbidingBiker.com/feed iTunes Direct Link to Podcast: https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/law-abiding-biker-podcast/id622424087 Stitcher Radio: http://www.stitcher.com/podcast/law-abiding-biker-podcast TuneIn Radio: http://tunein.com/radio/Law-Abiding-Biker-p562288/

I encourage you to buy this song or the entire album, as I really like their music and style. Law Abiding Biker Tiger Sherman sent us and email reminding the Law Abiding Biker/Motorcycle Community and us that you don’t have to buy the Harley Davidson brand Screaming Eagle synthetic oil to service your motorcycle, which costs $12.95 per quart plus tax at a dealership. You can simply purchase Mobil 1 V-Twin 20w-50 full synthetic 4 cycle motorcycle oil, which is just the same. I did a very quick Google search and found Mobil 1 V-Twin 20w-50 full synthetic 4 cycle motorcycle oil on Amazon for $62.78 for a case of 6 quarts. I’m certain if you spent more time than I, you can find it even cheaper. That equals to $10.46 per quart, which is cheaper than the Harley Screaming Eagle synthetic oil. However, depending on shipping costs, you may be around the same price. Your best bet is to go to your local motorcycle/biker shop and they likely carry other synthetic motorcycle oil alternatives, such as Mobil 1 V-Twin 20w-50 full synthetic 4 cycle motorcycle oil . Of course Harley dealerships only sell their Screaming Eagle synthetic oil, which they simply put their label on. It is a well known fact that Harley Davidson does not manufacture their own oil and purchase oil from the lowest bidder. Harley Davidson then simply places their brand name label on it. Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love riding Harley Davidson motorcycles, but a majority of other things they sell, including oil, are way overpriced. You can get comparable items and pay much less if you do your research. I’m certain the oil is decent, as I have never had any problems when running it in my Harley. However, it is extremely overpriced, as Haley certainly wants to make money on it. A chrome oil filter costs $14.95 from a Harley dealership. So out of the Harley dealership door with product to service my Harley myself costs $$114.95. If you then have a Harley dealership service your bike you can add another $200 plus out the door. That means you can use 20w-50 synthetic oil in your engine, transmission, and primary drive! You no longer have to have a separate oil for each and that is a good thing to me. The above email from Tiger Sherman is a great segue into our MAIN TOPIC, which is Amsoil synthetic oil vs. Harley Davidson labeled synthetic oil. Law Abiding Biker Motorcycle Podcast Co-host, Justin AKA: Oscar, is on hand during this episode to help us cover this ongoing and sometimes heated topic amongst bikers/motorcyclists. Justin is a full time Law Enforcement Officer (LEO like me) and also happens to be a local Amsoil dealer in our area. He has great insight into the benefits of using Amsoil and touches on the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, which basically covers warranty requirements and was enacted in 1975. What is boils down to, is what I have told our audience before many times via multiple media platforms. You can perform your own maintenance on your motorcycle and your warranty is still good, so long as you keep certain documentation. I discuss this thoroughly in the Law Abiding Biker Harley Davidson Maintenance Video www.LawAbidingBiker.com/2014HarleyMaintenance. You do not have to take your motorcycle to the dealership for regular maintenance and service to maintain your warranty. You can do the service and routine maintenance yourself. We discuss the benefits and costs of Amsoil synthetic oil vs. Harley Davidson synthetic oil that they slapped a label on. You will learn that you can get Amsoil for around the same price as Harley brand, depending on what your Amsoil dealer sales it for. You will get the best deal if you are an Amsoil premium member, which costs about $20 a year per Justin. You can order directly from the Amsoil www.amsoil.com website too. There have been many “wear tests" performed with Amsoil and it always comes out ahead of the competitors, like Harley brand synthetic oil. Amsoil also sales oil filters and air filters for your motorcycle, which are completely comparable to Harley and other competitors. Amsoil makes oil for every type of engine, not just motorcycles. I personally have never used Amsoil, but after this podcast and education from Justin, I may just switch. With Harley Davidson Screaming Eagle synthetic oil, you are advised to change your oil every 5,000 miles. Per Amsoil, you only have to change your motorcycle oil every 10,000 miles and as Justin reveals, Amsoil has a warranty guarantee that if an engine fails because of their oil, then they will replace the engine. I doubt this would ever happen. Heck, you could push Harley synthetic oil to 10,000 miles in most conditions and be fine, but don’t do it please. So, I think Amsoil is safe with making this guarantee. Why does Harley Davidson not sell Amsoil? Simple; Amsoil will not give Harley Davidson low bid, because they have a great product. Amsoil doesn’t want to have Harley Davidson just slap their label on their product and then call it “theirs". Harley Davidson gets synthetic oil extremely cheap from the low bidder, they slap their label on it, and cash in. Many big companies do this, not just Harley Davidson. It is just a fact and businesses are trying to profit in many ways. Don’t take it personal, but don’t fall for the trap either. With the internet and social media available, to include the Law Abiding Biker Motorcycle Podcast, we can all help each other out, so we all get the best motorcycle products and best deals for our hard earned money. Information is that Harley Davidson currently purchases their synthetic motorcycle oil from Citgo Petroleum or Mobil and slap their label on it. I guess it really boils down to how long you are going to own your motorcycle an how many more miles you think you will get out of your engine before you need a rebuild or a new one. Do you keep your motorcycle that long? Some do. I usually sell my motorcycles before I get to this stage, so I will likely never know. I’m not certain anyone really knows exactly how much more you get out of your engine, transmission, or primary drive by using Amsoil synthetic oil. I will however be switching to Amsoil now and give it a try. If I can get it for around the same price and only have to change my oil every 10,000 miles instead of every 5,000 using Harley synthetic oil then I am money ahead. And hey, if it is better for my motorcycle engine then that is an added benefit too. Of course I will be following up on this topic after I give Amsoil synthetic oil a good test and truly find out the cost difference. CLICK HERE FOR THE OFFICIAL LAW ABIDING BIKER WEBISTE PODCAST-In this episode of the Law Abiding Biker Motorcycle Podcast we discuss in length the ongoing question of how far you should live away from a law abiding biker motorcycle club chapter that you might want to join or be involved with. The question arises often with the club we are involved with, the Sworn Few MC. The Sworn Few MC has to respond to many emails reference this question, so we thought we would put it out on a podcast. Should you try and join the closest chapter, or ask permission to start a new chapter or support crew? What are the best protocols and practices? What is acceptable? Of course opinions vary on this from club to cub, but there are some fine points to consider in the matter. Second, we discuss several emails we have received along with comments posted directly on the Law Abiding Biker Motorcycle Website. These questions are all in reference to Harley Davidson exhaust, air intakes, mufflers, remapping your fuel injection, or buying an aftermarket product to map your fuel injection. We answer all your questions and have many videos and blogs that cover this (links at the bottom of this post). We tell you exactly what is in our opinion the exact route you should go reference these issues and costs involved. We have direct access to certified Harley Davidson mechanics and talk with them often about these issues. Last, we discuss the new 2014 Harley Davidson liquid cool models and the future of such. The first liquid-cooled engine outfitted on a Harley touring bike is called the Twin Cooled High Output Twin Cam 103 V-Twin. Twin cooling cools the heads around the exhaust ports to deliver at or near peak performance under all operation conditions and temperatures. This is achieved via a small 1.1 quart liquid-cooling system that routes through the downtubes to discreet radiators housed in the lower fairing louvers. The system will make less engine heat in stop-and-go traffic. The first two Harley motorcycles with the Twin Cooled High Output Twin Cam 103 engine are the 2014 Ultra Limited Motorcycle and the 2014 Tri Glide Ultra Motorcycle. There's also a 110 cubic inch version of the Twin Cooled engine available in the 2014 CVO Limited. #LawAbidingBiker #BikerPodcast #MotorcyclePodcast Links we talked about: www.LawAbidingBiker.com/Exhaust www.LawAbidingBiker.com/StageOneIntake www.LawAbidingBiker.com/PowerCommander5 www.LawAbidingBiker.com/BoomBox www.LawAbidingBiker.com/TwinSlashRounds www.lawabidingbiker.com/2014streetglidespecial _______________________________________________________ CHECK US OUT AND SUBSCRIBE: Website: http://www.LawAbidingBiker.com Email & Voicemail: http://www.LawAbidingBiker.com/Contact Phone Hotline: 509-731-3548 Twitter: https://twitter.com/LawAbidingBiker Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/lawabidingbiker RSS: feed://www.LawAbidingBiker.com/feed iTunes Direct Link to Podcast: https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/law-abiding-biker-podcast/id622424087 Stitcher Radio: http://www.stitcher.com/podcast/law-abiding-biker-podcast TuneIn Radio: http://tunein.com/radio/Law-Abiding-Biker-p562288/
