Grohl speaks candidly about the band’s long-running connection with Tasmania and why Australia always ends up at the centre of their plans, joking that “all roads lead to Australia.” From spontaneous studio conversations that turn into surprise tours, to the band deciding to “pop down for a gig,” Dave explains how this show came to be. He also gives fans a hilarious insight into the chaos of touring — including the time he flew back to Los Angeles between shows in Adelaide and Perth just so he could take his daughter to her school’s Daddy/Daughter Dance, before flying straight back to play a stadium.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Send us a textWhat happens when a man who has spent his life running from the law comes face-to-face with a power that asks him to stand still? In this riveting episode of Self-Reflection, host Lira Ndifon sits down with David Damptian—a man formerly known as "Dangerous Dave"—for a conversation that excavates the wreckage of a past defined by crime, addiction, and violence, and uncovers a story of radical redemption that challenges the very limits of belief.Dave's story begins in the shadows—a self-described "criminal, thief, drug dealer, and alcoholic" from a dead-end town, whose life was a series of bad choices leading to jail time and despair. He recounts the gritty details of his descent, and the almost unbelievable story of how a desire to meet girls on a church basketball team led to an unexpected, "supernatural" encounter with God. But this was no instant miracle. What followed were decades of wrestling with faith, a cycle of running away and being relentlessly pulled back, a journey that ultimately transformed him from a street-level criminal into a sought-after "fixer" of failing psychiatric hospitals. But this episode goes far beyond one man's incredible life story. Lira and Dave venture into the complex, often contradictory heart of faith itself. They grapple with the questions that have haunted believers and skeptics for millennia: Is the Bible literal truth or a collection of profound metaphors? Why does a book that preaches love also contain verses that justify "an eye for an eye"? And where does the flawed, human institution of religion end, and a true, personal connection with the divine begin?Ultimately, Dave's journey reveals a powerful truth about the human condition: true change isn't something that happens to us, but a choice we must make. He shares the stunningly simple, yet impossibly difficult, mindset that allowed him to walk away from decades of addiction overnight. This conversation is more than just an interview; it's a mirror held up to our own lives, forcing us to ask: What do we choose to believe in, and what are we willing to do to be saved from ourselves?Support the showCall to Action: Engage with the Self-Reflection Podcast community! On July 23, 2007, two home intruders entered the home of the Petit family in Cheshire, Connecticut. The perpetrators, Linda Hayes (known as Steven Hayes at the time) and Joshua Andrew Komisarjevsky, initially planned only to burgle the house, but went on to murder Jennifer Hawke-Petit and her two daughters, 17-year-old Hayley Petit and 11-year-old Michaela Petit. Their father, Dr. William Petit, managed to escape despite sustaining severe injuries. Tune in on Monday, March 17th at 7 EST for this epic St. Patrick's Day episode! #cheshiremurders #truecrime
Join the Bad Girl, The One and Only Playa, Dangerous Dave, and our sensational new panelist Tiffany Star as we take another look at the tragic death of Gaby Petito. In August 2021, 22-year-old American woman and travelling vlogger Gabrielle Venora Petito was killed by her fiancé Brian Christopher Laundrie while they were traveling together on a vanlife journey across the United States. The trip was planned to last for four months and began on July 2, 2021, but Petito disappeared on August 27. After Petito's disappearance, Laundrie raised suspicion when he drove the van from Wyoming back to his parents' Florida home and refused to discuss her whereabouts. He was deemed a person of interest in the case and an arrest warrant was issued on charges of his making unauthorized withdrawals using her debit card. He left his home on September 13 and was reported missing four days later. On September 19, Petito's remains were found in Wyoming's Bridger–Teton National Forest. An autopsy found that she was killed by blunt-force injuries to her head and neck and manual strangulation. After a month of speculation around Laundrie's whereabouts, and an extended search of the area around his home, his skeletal remains were discovered in Florida's Myakkahatchee Creek Environmental Park on October 20. It was confirmed by an autopsy on November 23 that Laundrie had died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head, and the FBI later announced that he had admitted to killing Petito in his notebook, which was found near his remains. The case gained widespread attention due to the couple's documenting of their travels on social media, leaked police body camera video footage, 9-1-1 emergency dispatch call recordings, eyewitness accounts, the actions of Laundrie's parents, and the extensive media coverage. Tune in on Monday, March 10th at 7 EST for this can't miss episode! #gaby #gabypetito #truecrime

Richard Francis Cottingham (born November 25, 1946) is an American serial killer who was convicted in New York State of six murders committed between 1972 and 1980 and convicted in New Jersey of twelve murders committed between 1967 and 1978. He was nicknamed by media as the Torso Killer and the Times Square Ripper, since some of the murders he was convicted of included mutilation. Cottingham's confirmed killings resulted in nine convictions and a further eight confessions under non-prosecution agreements, leading to him serving multiple life sentences in New Jersey prisons. In 2009, decades after his first five murder convictions, Cottingham told a journalist he had committed at least eighty "perfect murders" of women in various regions of the United States. #truecrime #timessquarekiller #timessquareripper #torsokiller

The Bad Girl, The Playa, and Dangerous Dave are joined this week by “The President” Phil Decesare to bring you a True Crime classic! Dalia Dippolito became a focal point of national attention due to her involvement in a high-profile case related to a murder-for-hire plot against her then-husband, Michael Dippolito, in 2009. The former Boynton Beach escort was caught in an intricate police sting operation after soliciting an undercover police officer, whom she believed was a hitman, to murder Michael. The case first came to light when Dalia's lover, Mohamed Shihadeh, informed the police that Dalia was looking to have her husband killed. Shihadeh subsequently became a confidential informant, setting the stage for a police sting operation to capture Dalia in the act. Dalia's case was featured on both COPS and 20/20 and covered by news media around the country. But, as always, the True Crime Troika are here to add our own special brand of humor and insight to this legendary case!

Join the Bad Girl, The Playa, Dangerous Dave AND special guest Dan Sebastiano as they focus on one of the most controversial cases in United States history! JonBenét Patricia Ramsey (August 6, 1990 – December 26, 1996) was an American child beauty queen who was killed at age six in her family's home at 755 15th Street in Boulder, Colorado, on the night of December 25, 1996. Her body was found in the house's basement about seven hours after she had been reported missing. She had sustained a broken skull, and a garrote was tied around her neck. The autopsy report stated that JonBenét's official cause of death was "asphyxia by strangulation associated with craniocerebral trauma". Her death was ruled a homicide. The case generated worldwide public and media interest, in part because her mother Patsy Ramsey, a former beauty queen, had entered JonBenét into a series of child beauty pageants. This tragic case is the subject of a current Netflix docuseries. Did they get it right? Tune in on Monday, December 16th at 7 PM EST to find out! #truecrime #jonbenet #jonbenetramsey
Join the Bad Girl, The Playa, and Dangerous Dave as they look at the curious and controversial case of Gypsy Rose Blanchard! On December 15, 2015, Gypsy's boyfriend, Nicholas Godejohn, murdered Blanchard's mother Dee Dee at their Springfield, Missouri home. Gypsy had allowed Godejohn access to the home when she and Dee Dee were at a doctor's appointment. She provided Godejohn with a knife, gloves, and duct tape to facilitate the crime. Blanchard pled guilty to second-degree murder and was sentenced to 10 years in prison. She was released on parole on December 28, 2023, after serving 8 years. Godejohn was found guilty of first-degree murder and sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. Gypsy Rose Blanchard allegedly suffered from years of abuse at the hands of her mother Dee Dee, who maintained that Gypsy Rose suffered from muscular dystrophy, cancer, and numerous other ailments. Dee Dee frequently shaved Gypsy's head, telling her that since she was suffering from cancer, her hair would fall out anyway. There are enough layers of the proverbial onion here for several books!
