When Jesus tells us to receive His body and His blood (Matthew 26:26-29), there are no limitations where the laity is concerned. We must ask ourselves the question, “What is happening in this Sacrament?” The Reformers emphasized the benefits that Jesus provides, while the Roman Church emphasized the work the priest does for you. Receive both kinds with joy as He gives you full forgiveness, life, and salvation!   Rev. James Maxwell, President of the Rocky Mountain District of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod, joins Rev. Brady Finnern to examine the Scriptural truth of both kinds in the sacrament. Find your copy of the Book of Concord - Concordia Reader's Edition at cph.org or read online at bookofconcord.org. Join Dan and Tom as they discover THE TRAITORS, a 1962 British B Spy Movie. Does it make the Grade? Low budget B movies were made, for the most part, to be the second billing on double features. Low-budget doesn't necessarily mean a bad movie. In this episode we dive into THE TRAITORS without giving away the movie. THE TRAITORS has a good cast starring Patrick Allen, James Maxwell, Jacqueline Ellis, and Zena Walker. We look at the high-level plot, what makes this a B movie, how espionage is portrayed, the music and more. For the most part, this is espionage! At Spy Movie Navigator, one of our goals is to identify Influences. Specifically, where a movie was influenced by or has influenced other spy movies and real life. THE TRAITORS has significantly influenced parts of THE FOURTH PROTOCOL, ALLIED, the the Harry Palmer Series, ON HER MAJESTY'S SECRET SERVICE, THUNDERBALL, LICENCE TO KILL and more. Take a listen to find out about these influences. THE TRAITORS is a fairly common name for movie titles and television shows, including the currently airing games show. So, to be clear, we're examining the 1962 movie here. So, join Dan and Tom for their THE TRAITORS - A British B Movie Makes the Grade episode. On Saturday, 22nd December 1866, the body of a young woman aged 18 years was recovered from a lodge adjacement to Holden Wood cotton mill, that was owned by Mr. James Maxwell and situated in a place known as Holden Wood, near Haslingden. At around half-past one in the afternoon, John Holgate, a spinner employed at Maxwell's mill, whilst passing by his place of work, had noticed something bobbing about just above the water level in a lodge that was within yards of the mill. Upon making his way over to the waters edge, it was then he saw the head of a young girl which was just above the water, with the remainder of her body submerged. Already knowing the depth of the water in the lodge was quite deep, reportedly around nine feet, he knew that trying to recover the body himself was an almost impossible task, so Holgate left to fetch for another worker, who in turn went off to search for a policeman. By the time a police officer had arrived, water from the nearby Holden Wood reservoir had been slowly filling the lodge, which in turn was by now submerging the victims head. And yet despite a struggle, all three men succeeded in retrieving the body. In this episode of the Brains Byte Back Podcast, we want to explore if "The Terminator" could ever become a reality, and what other forms of AI weapons and warfare we might see in the near future. To do this we are joined by Marshall Barnes, an advanced concept science and technology R&D engineer who has been associated with advanced weapons concepts involving robotics and computerized weapons systems since 1982. Barnes began his career working on ideas for antisubmarine warfare and was a recruitment target by the attorney of Arm-Tech, James Maxwell. In 2008 he published a paper through Scientific Americans' blog community on current and future weapons systems that was scrubbed off the Internet by DARPA because it revealed too much. Barnes kicks off the episode by explaining how he first got started in the technological weapons space, and how a love for sci-fi inspired him to design futuristic weapons. He also breaks down how he would revise classic Star Wars weapons and vehicles to make them more effective, and how his career was launched by a desire to create his own sci-fi movie. We also discuss a recent BBC article titled "Biden urged to back AI weapons to counter China and Russia threats," and Barnes shares his thoughts on why he is not afraid of AI becoming self-aware. He also discusses China's super-soldier program, and how he likes to contemplate countermeasures against new technological weapons from foreign threats as a hobby in his free time. Additionally, Barnes explains what "Digital Centrism" is and why it holds back many in the tech community.

Making their way across the Grassmarket to the Cowgate and up to the High Street, the mob converged on the Tolbooth, where they were eventually able to overpower the guards. Porteous was dragged from his cell up the Lawnmarket to the West Bow and down to the Grassmarket, where he was lynched from a dyer's pole, using a rope taken from a local draper's shop. After a short while, he was dragged down and stripped of his nightgown and shirt, which was then wrapped around his head before he was hauled up again. However, the mob had not tied his hands and, as he struggled free, they broke his arm and shoulder, while another attempted to set light to his naked foot. He was taken down a further time and cruelly beaten before being hung up again, and died a short while later, just before midnight on 7 September 1736. He was buried in Greyfriars Kirkyard, Edinburgh, the following day.The events in Edinburgh heightened the sense of alarm in London, where the government was concerned about the threat to its management of Scotland. It was thought by Walpole, Queen Caroline and the Duke of Newcastle that Porteous had been unnecessarily sacrificed and there were even rumours that the conspiracy had involved the local city magistrates. In February 1737 a parliamentary inquiry was held; the House of Lords initially proposed the disbanding of the town guard and removal of Netherbow Port, but subsequently dropped these suggestions. Eventually, the only punishments enforced were a £2,000 fine imposed on the city (used to support Porteous' widow) and the disbarment from all offices of the then Lord Provost Alexander Wilson. It was variously thought that Porteous' murder was carried out by friends of those who had been shot and killed, revenge by the smugglers, a Jacobite plot, or even a conspiracy by Presbyterian extremists. However, the organisation of events seems to imply a degree of planning, thought to be the work of James Maxwell, an Edinburgh journeyman carpenter, together with a small group of city tradesmen and journeymen. However, despite a reward of £200 being made available by the government for information, those responsible for the murder of Porteous were never found. The events surrounding the Porteous Riots form part of the early chapters of the novel The Heart of Midlothian by Sir Walter Scott (1818), where they are recorded in graphic detail.

Five years ago, Max lost his son to an opioid overdose, four years ago he lost his wife to pancreatic cancer and two years ago, his diagnosis of terminal cancer turned up the volume of his faith, compassion, gratitude and calm.  Max lives with his service dog named Cooper. Sister Jenna met Max recently and the two of them sparked a meaningful friendship in which the seemingly impossible could become possible because of his faith in God and his faith in love for humanity. Join this very heart-warming conversation and let's send our healing thoughts to Max. Sister Jenna wishes for everyone tuning into the show to send healing thoughts to Max at 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. every day. Stay tuned for updates on www.Facebook.com/americameditating. For the 117th episode of the Scottish Independence Podcast I invited Pat Kane, Kathleen Caskie of Women For Indy and journalist James Maxwell to come on and have a chat about some of the major events of 2015.We managed to get through a fair few, including the difficult year experienced by the Labour party in Scotland and the UK, the House of Lords, the continuing rise of the SNP, the "delivery" of the vow, Corbyn, Sturgeon, Indyref 2 and much more.We also included a look at some newcomers on the scene, specifically the RISE coalition, The Ferret, The National and Common Space. And as we unfortunately lost two major figures on the Scottish scene in 2015, William McIlvanney and Ian Bell, we also discussed what sort of a hole will be left by their absence. To finish up on a lighter note we had a holiday season quiz, True or Foulkes.Hope you enjoy…

For the 36th episode of For A' That, Andrew and I were joined by James Maxwell and Peter Geoghegan.First topic up was the by-election in Dunfermalino. Predictable result given the circumstances or should we be reading more into it? Why don't the Greens do better? The next topic was Grangemouth and this broadened into a larger discussion about nationalisation. Finally, we got onto the definitions that are being used about what is happening in Scotland. Separation? Independence? Constitutional Change? Which of these, if any, really sums up what is going on?Hope you enjoy...LINKShttp://michaelgreenwell.wordpress.com/http://lallandspeatworrier.blogspot.co.uk/https://twitter.com/jamesmaxwell86https://twitter.com/PeterKGeoghegan

For our 35th episode Andrew and I were joined by James Maxwell and Kate Higgins.James has been over to Catalonia to see what's happening in their independence campaign. Can parallels be drawn between what's happening there and what is happening in Scotland? Moreover, SHOULD parallels be drawn between Scotland and the various other independent movements around the world, or is our situation unique?A lot of people were asking where Johann Lamont was during the summer. Well, she came back with an errrm, interesting accusation in last week's FMQs. What does this say about the Labour press department and more widely their strategy and competence. The new Scottish budget came out this week. Is Swinney doing well? How difficult is it to keep the wheels turning in the face of what is (or isn't) coming from Westminster. Finally, a year to go! How are you going to spend it?

For episode 30 of the For A' That podcast I was joined by former Scottish Socialist Party MSP and member of Women For Indy, Carolyn Leckie and New Statesman contributor and co-editor of Bella Caledonia, James Maxwell. Andrew wasn't with us as he had some wetlands to vex.Our discussion started with the accusations this week that all is not as it seems with Labour For Indy. Is it a front group, is the hand of the SNP behind it? Carolyn and Jamie seemed to feel the whole story says more about our media than it does about the group itself. We moved on to the Unions and their reticence to get involved officially so far.Salmond's interview on Russia Today provoked a little discussion, and not just about what he actually said.We discussed the form of democracy Scotland should take after Indy. For example, should there be further referendums on issues like monarchy and currency? Should the parliament be unicameral or bicameral. If there is a second chamber, how could that be organised? Finally, we spoke about James' recent article in which he suggested that aside from damaging (or not) the Yes campaign, the campaign of Better Together is just generally damaging.

For episode 22 of the For A' That podcast Andrew and I were joined by New Statesman contributor James Maxwell and Huffington Post blogger and Labour Party member Andrew Smith. The Labour party was the focus of a large part of the discussion. More specifically, the couple of interviews that Johann Lamont did this week and her speech at the conference. This became a more general discussion on some of the woes of that party in the post-devolution era.We also discussed their new Truth Team and what that says about politics in this country. Some of us felt this had a kind of Orwellian overtone to it, others felt it represented the Americanisation of politics in Scotland and the UK and is reminiscent of American style attack ads.Devo-somethings were also a topic. With the three Better Together parties now all backing some form of further devolution, will they be able to come up with a unified plan. Furthermore, would further devolution damage or in fact strengthen the SNP's hand.Back on Labour, is the idea of more devolution causing a problem between the Westminster party and the Holyrood one?LINKShttp://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/andrew-smith/http://www.newstatesman.com/writers/james_maxwellhttps://twitter.com/andrew_graemehttps://twitter.com/PeatWorrierhttps://twitter.com/jamesmaxwell86lallandspeatworrier.blogspot.co.ukhttp://michaelgreenwell.wordpress.comhttps://twitter.com/mgreenwell
