On this episode of HAPPENING, Stand-up Comic, Comedy Writer, Actress and Filmmaker, Kendra Cunningham, tells us how a joke is born and brought to the stage. We discuss what it takes to fight the resistance that tries to keep us from getting creative, whether it is writing that book, starting that business, auditioning for that big role, or telling that joke. Ultimately, it comes down to a series of “P's,” including the words “purpose”, “plan,” and “passion,” just to name a few. What is it that you are trying to ignite and bring to life? Whatever it is requires a lot of hard work, dedication, and Sparking Your Creative Genius. This is the first episode of a three-part series dedicated to making creative dreams a reality.
Boston-bred and Brooklyn-based, Kendra Cunningham has been named as a comic to watch by Time Out New York and has been compared to Groucho Marx and Mae West by the UK's Chortle. A regular on the New York and Boston comedy scene, she has previously been in the Montreal Just for Laughs Festival, The Glasgow Comedy Festival, and was a finalist in the Boston Comedy Festival for two years in a row. She has twice appeared on NBC's Last Comic Standing gaining two spots in the top 100 jokes of the season. Watch for her new special coming in October "Meatball Therapy". Katina Corrao is an actress, comedian, and writer. The New York Times calls Katina a “staple in the New York comedy scene.” She's been seen on The Daily Show, Broad City, Deadbeat, Big Morning Buzz Live, and heard on the animated series, Pinkalicious & Peterrific. Katina also makes the rounds as an enthusiastic warm-up comic and has warmed up many top shows, including Good Morning America, The Drew Barrymore Show, The Rachael Ray Show, The Big Fib, and more. She's blogged for The Huffington Post and spent a year as head copywriter at the NFL. She not only devoted one year of her life to writing about football but also accumulated an enormous amount of football swag. Game Show writing is also a passion of hers, and she wrote for several, including The NEW Newlywed Game and several "super-secret" projects. As a comedian, she has proudly performed in benefit shows for Camp Looking Glass, A Night For Dottie, A Night of Giving for Puerto Rico, and pollution awareness, to name a few. She has been featured in The New York Times, Time Out New York, Reader's Digest, Broadway World, Splitsider, Vulture, New York Women in Communications, and more. We continue with Part 2 (of 4) of Ep. 86 our Election Day marathon special begins with the wonderful Kendra Cunningham. She's a comedian, actress, writer who voted on Election Day. We discuss her new Brooklyn apartment with a BACKYARD, Kendra look-alikes, and making a lot of money. Our 2nd guest is restaurateur and children's book author Jeff Goldstein out of Charleston, SC. He has some "bones to pick" with our prior guests. He also gives us some expected bad news regarding SC election returns but also surprises us with some promising news about dirty politics. Comedian Eric Slovin joins us from his abode in Brooklyn. Eric is a lifelong New Yorker. He not only shares his astute observations regarding NYC, but also answers not one but two "How Democracy Works" trivia questions correctly. Most impressively, for the first time ever, Eric Slovin reads his poem written just for WDEK, titled "Brooklyn Bridge." A match made in WDEK heaven and by WDEK heaven, comedian Chelsea White & musician Tash Neal share their brilliance as a duo for the first time performing NYSNC's "It's Gonna Be Me." Let's hope 2021 brings us a brand new Cheltash show called "Couch Karaoke!" In response to Christian's problems with urban wildlife, and the albino squirrel sightings in Park Slope, Justin The Intern reports back to us that our audience member, Michael, also Christian's cousin has heard of an albino deer sighting. Congrats to Matt Arnold (our earlier guest) and Michael Terrell Ford III answers our WDEK trivia question correctly! Our last guest of this segment is comedian, professional ice skater and IG star Tommy Do! Tommy sent us a sweet video from his bed regarding voting. He also graciously let us in on his very personal list of favorite things. Do you know what a #ThirstTrap is? Tommy makes fun of them on IG and he's so good at it. Alright y'all that's it for Part 2 of 4 of our Election Day Special. Thank you all for voting and listening! Part 3 & 4 coming soon!

Stoney, it was used as an educational tool for midwives in the United States with the express intention of promoting greater cooperation between midwives and the healthcare system. In 2002, it was selected for preservation by the United States National Film Registry, part of the Library of Congress. 08:15: Here is the story of Stephanie Snook, who was supposed to be interviewed for an article about indigenous women’s high rate of pregnancy-related deaths. They displaced midwives. 14:30: Here is an article from The Sun all about King Louie the XIV and his fetish about childbirth. Meet comedian Kendra Cunningham and her mom!
Christian is back from Brazil with a new goatee. Shonali talks for a little too long to an alkaline water saleslady at Whole Foods. Christian coins the name of a new segment for WDEK called Shit People Say. Our first guest, Kendra Cunningham is a comedian originally from Boston. She is an actress, filmmaker, bartender and former forensics psychologist. Her mom is stylie and loves garage sales. Kendra doesn't like dating per se and is in a relationship. Kendra handled being interrupted by a real live heckler very well. Shonali was actually more annoyed than she sounds especially when Christian brought up the subject of mansplaining. It's a real word, even though it comes up as a misspelling on spell check. Drew, the heckler strikes again. If he were funny, you'd think he was a plant in the audience. The heckler has left the premises! Our second guest is Black Lives Matter activist Patrick Waldo. Patrick is a white guy. He brings the Black Lives Matter conversation into white spaces including spaces like the Late Show with Stephen Colbert and Late Night with Seth Meyers. Fox & Friends have used a quote from Patrick's Instagram. Our featured musical guest is a power house vocalist and bass player from the band Faith, named Felice Rosser. Felice is originally from Detroit Rock City and is multi-talented as a writer and an actress too. She pursued college in NYC at Barnard but was enticed mostly to NYC by the burgeoning rock music scene. Felice used to play in a band with her friend, Jean-Michel Basquiat which although was fun wasn't glamourous. Felice sings two of her originals for our WDEK audience, Soul Seeker and Time To Fall In Love Again. Her voice will give you chills. See her band at BAM Cafe, March 5th at 9pm. It's free.
