Hosts Chandra and Paul continue their deep dive into JD Edwards (JDE) security with guests Andrew Ostdiek, Matthias Freitag, and Nimesh Patel. The conversation kicks off with the importance of naming conventions when managing User Defined Objects (UDOs) and how early oversight in this area can prevent disorganization and headaches down the line. The panel shares candid stories and lessons learned, emphasizing the need for governance, simplicity, and structure to avoid chaos and maintain effective security management as JDE capabilities expand. As the episode unfolds, the group discusses the increasing pressure of audits, evolving security roles, and best practices for tackling the constant changes that JDE environments demand. Welcome to Death Clock! Formerly “The Most Days Show”, Death Clock is a podcast hosted by Brent Franson that focuses on longevity. This week, Brent sits down with Dr. Nimesh Patel, a renowned neurosurgeon and author of Extraordinary Doctor: How Emotional Intelligence Drives a Physician's Success. He shares insights for cultivating emotional intelligence, reflecting on how this skill has shaped his career and personal growth as a physician, husband, and father. The episode offers a powerful look at the intersection of healthcare, emotional intelligence, and personal transformation, inspiring listeners to rethink how they engage with their own health and the medical professionals in their lives. Hope you enjoy.
Funny You Should Mention Episode One: Nimesh Patel. Over his career Nimesh Patel has gone from a comedian who wants to make points and jokes to a purely joke-oriented comic. He's somewhat of the prefect comedian to kick off this series which looks at comedy routines as if they were an argument or an Op-ed. Nimesh has actually written Op-Eds for the NY Times. We discuss being kicked off stage at Columbia University, eviscerating the healthcare system when over a dozen of your cousins are doctors, and more about Indian President Narendra Modi than most conversations with comics usually include. Sometimes whether we like it or not we are at the mercy of a "picker" or someone who gets to decide if we get to go on stage or not: casting directors, producers, bookers, or maybe it's just the guy who got tasked with hiring entertainment for his company's annual Christmas party! Either way you'll encounter plenty of so called gatekeepers no matter what artistic path you take.In this episode we talk to Steve Ausburne, a comedian and one of the bookers for the SF Punchline Sunday Showcase. We cover:How Steve's comedic style has changed over timeHow he recovers from a "bad night"His thought process behind booking the Sunday ShowcaseBONUS: I ask him the question we've all been wondering. . . this and more!About Today's Guest, Steve AusburneSteve Ausburne's comedy career started with MC/Host work for friends with bands. His first attempt at actual stand up ended with a lifetime ban from a church in Grant's Pass, Oregon. Buoyed by that successful start, Steve has since embraced the stage as a place to present a spoken word memoir of all the embarrassing life moments that lurk in a place that only stand up or therapy sessions can reveal. Also, he is allergic to cats.Steve peddles his comedic wares throughout Sonoma County and the San Francisco Bay Area. He produces comedy shows throughout California's Wine Country and in addition to comedy performances, he is available for auctioneering, event hosting, work parties, voice acting, and private dancing. Some of his accomplishments include: regular at Punch Line, Cobb's Comedy Club, and Rooster T Feathers; opened for Nimesh Patel, Michael Kosta, Rory Scovel and more!To learn more or contact him for bookings please visit steveausburne.comAbout Your Host, Holly ShawBefore becoming a comedian, Holly Shaw spent a lifetime on stage, T.V. and film as an actor, professional dancer and later as a speaker, coach and hypnotherapist. Nimesh Patel never planned on being a stand up comedian. In fact, he graduated from NYU with a degree in finance and fully planned on pursuing a career in that field. However, a lack of passion for the industry paired with the difficulty of finding a job during the Great Recession led him to take a writing class and, eventually, to stand up comedy. Immediately hooked from his first open mic, Nimesh kept his day job in finance while pursuing comedy at night. His persistence paid off when he was discovered by Chris Rock, who hired him to write for the 2016 Oscars. Today, after three self-produced comedy specials, multiple late night sets, and an Emmy nomination for his work at Saturday Night Live, Nimesh is ready to slow down a bit and do some “actual living”. In this episode of the Cripescast, he and Charlie reflect on the reality of burnout, life on the road, and having to make the conscious decision to switch off their work brains. Emma is joined by comedian Nimesh Patel to talk about life pre and post testicular cancer, the importance of smelling good, and learning to move beyond anger. In the Why Do Men? Segment, Nimesh helps a listener who fears her boyfriend simultaneously fetishizes her bisexuality and uses it to undermine her fidelity. Then, Emma asks Nimesh anything from parental approval, to social media etiquette, and merging interior decor taste with a partner. Emma shares her dilemma about receiving compliments, and finally, they wrap with a lightning round about female vs male therapists, pimple popping, and surprises. Comedian Nimesh Patel joins Mike this week for a joke-filled conversation about how to find your comedic voice, how to turn your saddest stories into standup, and whether or not Buddhism and comedy can peacefully co-exist. Plus, Nimesh goes deep on the infamous time he was yanked off stage at Columbia University for making what he didn't think was a very controversial joke. Nimesh Patel got advice from his comedy hero Chris Rock that comics need to get personal in order to become universal. After that, Nimesh was able to take his background as a first generation Indian-American whose dad owned a liquor store, a med-school drop out, a cancer survivor with a Jewish wife, and turn it all into an act that works on equally well on stage as it does on TikTok. Nimesh also tells Marc about the time he resisted becoming a pawn in the culture war after a college performance that went wrong. Dan Ahdoot helps us put the WTF? in RFK Jr. The band MUNA gets gayotic at the behest of Crooked's gays and theys, and we keep both hands on the Rant Wheel at all times. Brought to you by No Labels. Nimesh Patel is a standup comedian, former SNL writer, producer and on top of all of that, he has a freaking finance degree from NYU. Nimesh tells me the story behind his hilarious new special called “Lucky Lefty”, where he muses on his testicular cancer diagnosis and cure. It was awesome to chat about resilience on stage, true destiny and the time he had the best standup set of his life in front of Chris Rock.
