On today's episode, Andy is joined by Bill Roggio—senior fellow at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies and editor of The Long War Journal—for a wide-ranging conversation on national security, starting with the complexities of firearm ownership in the U.S. and shifting into an in-depth analysis of the global jihadist threat. They trace the evolution of groups like the Taliban and al-Qaeda, examining how these networks have resurged in the wake of the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan. The discussion dives into U.S. military strategy, missteps in the War on Terror, and the enduring ideological mindset of jihadist fighters. Together, they unpack what went wrong, what the media often overlooks, and why public awareness of these threats is more important than ever. Tune in here to this Thursday edition of the Brett Winterble Show! Brett kicks off the program by talking with Bill Roggio from the Long War Journal about the Syrian military integrating al-Qaeda units into their ranks. This is a sticking point for President Trump, who demands that Syria disband these terrorist troops from its military. Some Washington figures believe that the Syrian government will keep them in check, but in all reality, it is overwhelmingly likely that these troops will bring their ideology with them and implement it within the ranks of Syria's military. The pair also discussed last night's murders of two Jewish people in Washington, D.C., by a lunatic who targeted them for their Jewish heritage. Tune in here to this Thursday's edition of the Brett Winterble Show! Brett kicks off the program talking about the importance of interviews and open conversations, especially during a time of political transition. He expresses frustration with how the government handled COVID-era spending, arguing that trillions were wasted and taxpayers were disrespected. Brett emphasizes that Americans deserve to keep more of their earnings before the government takes its share. He criticizes both Democratic and Republican leaders for failing to be accountable and highlights how working-class citizens bear the brunt of poor policymaking. We're Joined by Newsmax CEO Chris Ruddy to discuss his strong support for President Trump’s trade and immigration strategies, praising his efforts to renegotiate global trade deals and secure the U.S.-Mexico border. He criticizes past administrations for weak policies and defends Trump’s tough stance on China, calling it long overdue. Ruddy also highlights the recent success of Newsmax’s IPO, sharing that the network raised $300 million and is now trading under the symbol NMAX. He touts Newsmax’s growth across cable, streaming, and mobile platforms, emphasizing its commitment to independent, family-friendly programming. We're also joined by bestselling author and legal commentator Scott McEwen. Known for his military insight and hit book American Sniper to discuss recent shifts within the FBI and DOJ, expressing optimism that biased leadership is being replaced and public trust is being slowly restored. The conversation turns to cultural trends, where McEwen notes a resurgence of patriotism in Hollywood. He shares that there's growing interest in turning his work into films, reflecting an appetite for content that celebrates American values. we're also joined by Bill Roggio from the Foundation for the Defense of Democracies and Long War Journal to discuss the state of global terrorism and U.S. national security. Roggio warns that while public focus has shifted to threats like China and Russia, jihadist groups such as al-Qaeda, ISIS, and the Taliban remain active and dangerous—especially in places like Afghanistan, Somalia, and across Africa. He criticizes both Republican and Democratic administrations for sidelining the long fight against terrorism, citing recent decisions to negotiate with or lift sanctions on known terrorists. Roggio emphasizes that ungoverned regions in Africa are becoming breeding grounds for extremism, predicting that more countries could fall to jihadist influence. He urges U.S. policymakers to remain vigilant, stressing that these threats do not disappear just because they are out of the headlines. More analysis can be found at longwarjournal.org. Finally we're joined by by Gordon Chang (@GordonGChang) to discuss the Trump administration’s first 100 days—focusing heavily on the evolving U.S.–China relationship. Chang gives President Trump high marks for confronting China’s massive trade surplus and implementing tariffs to rebalance global trade in America's favor. He notes that although China could theoretically weaponize its U.S. debt holdings, doing so would hurt its own economy. Chang warns that China is retaliating through less conventional means—highlighting Beijing’s past interference in American civil unrest, including evidence of counterfeit currency, weapons parts shipments, and TikTok propaganda during the 2020 George Floyd protests. He believes China is using similar tactics today, especially in fueling pro-Hamas content and possibly stirring campus protests. With Trump building trade alliances to isolate Beijing, Chang stresses that America must remain vigilant against China’s economic and psychological warfare. Tune in here to this Tuesday edition of the Brett Winterble Show! Brett kicks off the program by talking about President-elect Trump's press conference earlier today where he threatened that if the hostages weren't released by the time he takes office, "all hell will break out in the Middle East." He also raked President Biden over the coals for an entirely useless if not harmful administration that saw the destruction of the American economy and security. Trump also discussed renaming the Gulf of Mexico, and taking over Greenland. We're joined by Bill Roggio from the Long War Journal to talk about President Biden emptying Guantanamo Bay, going so far as to release a terrorist closely tied to the 9/11 attacks. The Biden administration seems determined to burn all bridges on their way out of office, leaving a scorched earth for incoming President Trump. The democrats are intent on releasing terrorists, giving criminals a slap on the wrists, and enabling violent immigrants to run rampant in our streets. Later, we're joined by author and lawyer, Gordon G. Chang, to talk about the North Koreans testing supersonic missiles, and what this means for America as we approach the transfer of power from President Biden to President-elect Trump. They also discuss Biden emptying Guantanamo Bay, and China cutting Taiwan's internet cable. Beth Troutman from Good Morning BT is also here for this Tuesday episode of Crossing the Streams. Tune in here to this Thursday edition of the Brett Winterble Show! Brett kicks off the program by talking about all the crazy things that happened yesterday, and New Orleans reopening Bourbon Street and preparing for the Sugar Bowl. The FBI has came out claiming that yesterday's attacks were unconnected despite all of the correlations, such as both vehicles being rented from the same app, both attacks happening within a few hours of each other, and both perpetrators being veterans who served at Fort Bragg. We're joined by Bill Roggio from the Long War Journal to talk about what stands out the most about these attacks, and how homegrown terrorists get in contact with terrorist groups. Later, Coach Matt Doherty, from Doherty Coaching, joins the show to talk about yesterday's attacks, and the apparent misalignment of the heads of various agencies responsible for keeping Americans safe. New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell believes the incident was a terrorist attack. Brett shares clips from a press conference earlier today where New Orleans Police Chief Anne Kirkpatrick said, "this was a terrorist attack." Reports say there was an IED inside the vehicle used in the attack, and more throughout the French Quarter. Last week, the New York Times ran an article(?) called “Is Afghanistan's Most-Wanted Militant Now Its Best Hope for Change?” (SPOILER: NO!) and with the subtitle: “Sirajuddin Haqqani has tried to remake himself from blood-soaked jihadist to pragmatic Taliban statesman. Western diplomats are shocked — and enticed.” Yes, really. To unpack (/eviscerate) the piece, Bill and Will Selber are joined by — drumroll, please — Long War Journal- and Generation Jihad-OG, Tom Joscelyn. Tune in here to this Monday edition of the Brett Winterble Show! Brett kicks off the program by discussing how the Harris campaign has been in disarray since its debate strategy unraveled. Tomorrow night marks the first presidential debate between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump. This will be the second debate of the year, but you probably remember how the first one went for Joe Biden. The Harris campaign had pushed for fully open mics during the debate, expecting to secure that arrangement. Now, it seems that the Harris team is preemptively blaming Joe Biden's camp for any potential issues that could arise from Kamala's difficulty in talking over or interrupting Trump. Later in The Show Brett is Joined by Bill Roggio from the Long War Journal to discuss the recent release of a report on the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan, led by the House Foreign Affairs Committee. The conversation highlights the chaotic nature of the withdrawal, the poor planning and execution by the Biden administration, and the long-standing issues that contributed to Afghanistan's collapse well before the withdrawal was announced. Roggio, who testified before the committee, criticizes the limited scope of the investigation and emphasizes that the collapse was the result of years of failures by both Republican and Democratic administrations. Bo Thompson from Good Morning BT joins this Monday's episode of Crossing the Streams. Brett and Bo discuss the recent passing of James Earl Jones, celebrating his legendary roles in movies like Coming to America, Field of Dreams, and The Lion King, along with his memorable work as the longtime voice of CNN. They also talk about the devastating injury to Panthers defensive end Derrick Brown and share their predictions for tomorrow night's debate between Vice President Kamala Harris and Donald Trump.
