“Xi Jinping could very well decide that his only way out is actually to cause trouble someplace,” says Gordon G. Chang, Senior Fellow at the Gatestone Institute. He tells Daniela Cambone that as the escalating trade war between the U.S. and China continues to intensify, China is in a “hard position,” compounded by its slowing domestic economic growth. “You look at the objective factors, basically China doesn't have a way out of this.” He also points out that China's massive accumulation of gold indicates the country's concern about its dependence on dollar-denominated assets. Follow us on X: @GordonGChang @ileaderssummit @NatashaSrdoc @JoelAnandUSA @supertalk Join America's Roundtable (https://americasrt.com/) radio co-hosts Natasha Srdoc and Joel Anand Samy with Gordon G. Chang, a leading expert on U.S.-China relations. Gordon G. Chang is an American attorney and author of Plan Red: China's Project to Destroy America and The Coming Collapse of China. Chang lived and worked in China and Hong Kong for almost two decades, most recently in Shanghai, as Counsel to the American law firm Paul Weiss and earlier in Hong Kong as Partner in the international law firm Baker & McKenzie. He served two terms as a trustee of Cornell University. The conversation with Gordon Chang focuses on the threats emanating from China that are impacting America on the economic and security fronts. Natasha Srdoc and Joel Anand Samy speak with Gordon Chang about China's aggressive tactics to undermine the United States. From cyberattacks to fentanyl and economic power plays, Chang breaks down the CCP's dangerous agenda. How will America and other democratic nations respond to the growing influence of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) led by its Secretary General Xi Jinping who wants to shape the world in China's image? Plan Red: China's Project to Destroy America by Gordon G. Chang In his new book Plan Red: China's Project to Destroy America (https://www.amazon.com/Plan-Red-Project-Destroy-America/dp/B0DD94BNDR), Gordon Chang writes that in Xi Jinping's conception of the world, there is no place for the United States or even the current international order. Analyst Gordon G. Chang warns that Xi Jinping believes he must destroy America to accomplish his objectives. And that Xi already has a plan to do it. Xi reveres Mao and is marching China back to Maoism. He is reinstituting totalitarian social controls, demanding absolute political obedience from everyone, and cutting foreign links. Closing China off from the world is an essential element of his plan to save the communist system. His isolationism and xenophobia evoke policies from the earliest years of the People's Republic and during the two millennia of imperial rule. And Xi can't stop talking about war. More significantly, he is implementing the largest military buildup since the Second World War, he is trying to sanctions-proof the Chinese regime, he is stockpiling grain and other commodities, he is surveying America for strikes and sabotage, he is mobilizing China's civilians for battle, and he is purging China's military of officers opposed to going to war. Gordon G. Chang's writings on China and North Korea have appeared in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The National Interest, The American Conservative, Commentary, National Review, Barron's, and The Daily Beast. He is a columnist at Newsweek and writes regularly for The Hill. He has given briefings at the National Intelligence Council, the Central Intelligence Agency, the State Department, and the Pentagon. He has also spoken before industry and investor groups including Bloomberg, Sanford Bernstein, Royal Bank of Scotland, and Credit Lyonnais Securities Asia. Chang has appeared before the House Committee on Foreign Affairs and the U.S.-China Economic and Security Review Commission. Tune in here to this Tuesday edition of the Brett Winterble Show! Brett kicks off the program by talking about President-elect Trump's press conference earlier today where he threatened that if the hostages weren't released by the time he takes office, "all hell will break out in the Middle East." He also raked President Biden over the coals for an entirely useless if not harmful administration that saw the destruction of the American economy and security. Trump also discussed renaming the Gulf of Mexico, and taking over Greenland. We're joined by Bill Roggio from the Long War Journal to talk about President Biden emptying Guantanamo Bay, going so far as to release a terrorist closely tied to the 9/11 attacks. The Biden administration seems determined to burn all bridges on their way out of office, leaving a scorched earth for incoming President Trump. The democrats are intent on releasing terrorists, giving criminals a slap on the wrists, and enabling violent immigrants to run rampant in our streets. Later, we're joined by author and lawyer, Gordon G. Chang, to talk about the North Koreans testing supersonic missiles, and what this means for America as we approach the transfer of power from President Biden to President-elect Trump. They also discuss Biden emptying Guantanamo Bay, and China cutting Taiwan's internet cable. Beth Troutman from Good Morning BT is also here for this Tuesday episode of Crossing the Streams. Gordon G. Chang is a columnist at Newsweek, a regular contributor to The Hill, and writes for NEWSMAX. PLAN RED, CHINA'S PROJECT TO DESTROY AMERICA.
Tomorrow night's vice presidential debate should be a tale of two “little red books.” Democratic candidate Tim Walz has collected and disseminated the one by Chinese Communist Party founder, Mao Tse-tung. His Republican opponent, J.D. Vance would be well-advised to draw on a new one being published tomorrow by the great Gordon G. Chang. Chang's book is entitled “Plan Red: China's Project to Destroy America.” That actually was Mao's plan – one now weaponized against us to the point where my friend, Gordon, arguably our country's preeminent authority on the CCP, persuasively warns we face imminent shooting war at its hands. If that were not sufficient reason for American voters to hear much more about this topic, the two veep candidates have profoundly differing life experiences with Communist China – Walz's long, personal and favorable; Vance's scarred, strategic and hostile. Let the debate begin! This is Frank Gaffney.
Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Chinese Communist Party, chairman of the Central Military Commission, and the president of the People's Republic of China, wants to shape the world in China’s image, and in his conception of the world, there is no place for the United States or even the current international order. Noted China analyst Gordon G. Chang warns that Xi Jinping believes he must destroy America to accomplish his objectives. And that Xi already has a plan to do it! China is preparing to plunge the world into conflict. Join us for a riveting and timely conversation.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Tune in here to this Wednesday edition of the Brett Winterble Show! .Brett kicks off the program by examining Vice President Kamala Harris's elusive public strategy. Despite her active campaigning, Harris remains tightly scripted and rarely deviates from prepared statements. She has distanced herself from her past positions and current agenda, with changes communicated through anonymous aides and unsourced statements. What's behind her deliberate opacity, and what risks does it pose? Brett also covers the latest figures on federal borrowing. In FY 2024, the government borrowed $5 billion a day. The Congressional Budget Office reports a $1.5 trillion deficit for the first 10 months of the fiscal year—$103 billion less than the same period last year. Meanwhile, the Peter G. Peterson Foundation tracks the national debt at $35.08 trillion, or $104,193 per American. What do these numbers mean for the economy and everyday citizens? Additionally, Harris will outline her strategy to tackle corporate price-gouging and provide relief to consumers. We're joined by Gordon G. Chang from to talk about U.S. Superpower Status Winterble questions whether the U.S. is still considered a superpower given recent challenges, including the situation in Afghanistan and tensions in regions like the South China Sea. Full Hour | In today's third hour, Dom welcomes Gordon G. Chang back onto the Dom Giordano Program to hear his expertise on the continued tumultuous relationship between the United States and China. First, Dom asks Chang for his analysis on the situation on Ukraine, with Chang explaining that once the United States presents a failure of deterrence, China will jump at the opportunity to invade Taiwan. Then, Dom and Gordon delve into multiple issues within China, including the installation of ‘Confucius Centers' on college campuses and in high school curricula, and offers an update on the Chinese-run police stations popping up throughout the United States. Then, Dom welcomes in State Senator Kim Ward who's incredibly upset with Governor Josh Shapiro after reneging on promises he recently made concerning the implementation of the Lifeline Scholarship program, which was written into the recent budget. In an agreement made with Democrats, Republicans made multiple concessions to install a system that would allow parents and students to choose where they would like to be schooled, an ideology Shapiro employed and allegedly exploited to get elected as Governor of our State. Senator Kim Ward discusses the move by Shapiro, pointing out the hypocrisy and the damage that his flipped stance on the issue will have on parents in Pennsylvania. (Photo by Getty Images)

I am not now nor at any time have ever been a member of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). Yet I serve as dean of a large faculty of political science in a Chinese university that trains students and provincial cadres to serve the country as Communist Party officials: It's typically a post reserved for members of the CCP, given the political sensitivity of the work. That's part of the surprise. The other part is that I'm a Canadian citizen, born and bred in Montreal, without any Chinese ancestry. – Daniel A. Bell, The Dean of Shandong: Confessions of a Minor Bureaucrat in China (2023) On January 1, 2017, Daniel Bell was appointed dean of the School of Political Science and Public Administration at Shandong University―the first foreign dean of a political science faculty in mainland China's history. In The Dean of Shandong, Bell chronicles his experiences as what he calls “a minor bureaucrat,” offering an inside account of the workings of Chinese academia and what they reveal about China's political system. It wasn't all smooth sailing―Bell wryly recounts sporadic bungles and misunderstandings―but Bell's post as dean provides a unique vantage point on China today. Bell, neither a Chinese citizen nor a member of the Chinese Communist Party, was appointed as dean because of his scholarly work on Confucianism―but soon found himself coping with a variety of issues having little to do with scholarship or Confucius. These include the importance of hair color and the prevalence of hair-dyeing among university administrators, both male and female; Shandong's drinking culture, with endless toasts at every shared meal; and some unintended consequences of an intensely competitive academic meritocracy. As dean, he also confronts weightier matters: the role at the university of the Party secretary, the national anticorruption campaign and its effect on academia (Bell asks provocatively, “What's wrong with corruption?”), and formal and informal modes of censorship. Considering both the revival of Confucianism in China over the last three decades and what he calls “the Communist comeback” since 2008, Bell predicts that China's political future is likely to be determined by both Confucianism and Communism. Professor Bell's other writings mentioned in this episode include: Communitarianism and its Critics (Oxford, 1993) China's New Confucianism: Politics and Everyday Life in a Changing Society (Princeton, 2008) The Spirit of Cities: Why the Identity of a City Matters in the Global Age (coauthored Princeton 2011) Ancient Chinese Thought - Modern Chinese Power (Trans. series: Xuetong; co-edited Princeton 2013) The China Model: Political Meritocracy and Limits of Democracy (Princeton, 2015) In this interview two book reviews were discussed: 1) "Confessions of a Sinophile" by James Crabtree in the Financial Times, and 2) "Confessions of a China Apologist" by Gordon G. Chang in The New Criterion. Professor Bell graciously responded to a question about them and adds this post-interview thought for The New Criterion reviewer: ‘since my book is banned in China I wish Mr. Chang would inform the relevant authorities that I'm an apologist for China – it might help to unban the book!' Professor Daniel A. Bell is a Canadian political theorist and currently Chair of Political Theory at the University of Hong Kong Faculty of Law. He was previously Dean of the School of Political Science and Public Administration at Shandong University and professor at Tsinghua University (Schwarzman College and Department of Philosophy). He has authored eight books and edited and/or coedited as many while serving as a series editor for Princeton University Press. Learn more about your ad choices.
