In today's society, the concept of privilege has become a buzzword. We often hear about male privilege and the advantages that come with it. However, I believe there is a bigger picture that we need to consider. Instead of focusing solely on privilege, we should shift our perspective to the heart of the matter and explore how responsibility can make a real difference in someone's life. In this blog post, we will delve deeper into this topic and discuss why responsibility is a heavier weight than privilege. JOIN US FOR AN EVENING WITH MACHINE GUN PREACHER - SAM CHILDERSDECEMBER 16th 2023 at 7PM AT OPEN ARMS CHURCH 1289 EAST MAIN STREET, BRADFORD PA Responsibility Over Privilege: The notion of privilege has taken on different connotations over the years. It can now be associated with the idea of being handed everything on a silver platter. However, as a man, I believe that manhood is not about privilege but about shouldering responsibility. To be a man is to understand that being stronger physically or having a unique way of thinking comes with the responsibility to care for and support those around us. Leadership and Service: One aspect of manhood that aligns with responsibility is leadership. While both men and women can be leaders, for men, it often means taking on the role of leadership in the home. However, it is essential to differentiate true leadership from lordship. True leadership is about serving others and making decisions that benefit those under our care. It is not about demanding obedience or seeking personal privilege but rather guiding and honoring those around us. Doing the Right Thing: Another aspect of responsibility is doing the right thing, even when it may be challenging or require sacrificing personal gain. We must strive for morality and set an example for others by upholding ethical values. As men, it is our responsibility to strive for what is right and to ensure that our actions align with our principles. By doing so, we create a positive influence on those around us. Shifting Perspectives: Earned vs. Deserved: A crucial shift in mindset is moving away from a sense of entitlement and recognizing that we do not inherently deserve anything. Instead, we should focus on earning the things we receive and being grateful for the blessings that come our way. It's about understanding that responsibility brings more fulfillment than privilege ever could. By working hard and earning what we have, we cultivate gratitude and appreciation for life's blessings. Conclusion: Responsibility is a weight that we should willingly carry as men. It surpasses the fleeting nature of privilege and grounds us in our purpose. By embracing responsibility, we not only make a difference in our own lives but also in the lives of those around us. Let us shift our focus from privilege to responsibility and strive to be men who lead through service, do the right thing, and live with gratitude. Together, we can create a better world by recognizing that responsibility is a heavier weight than privilege. Thank you for reading, and I invite you to join the discussion in the Manlihood Man Cave group on Facebook. Share your thoughts on this topic and let's continue the conversation. I love you and I'm proud of you. - Josh Hatcher, Host of the Manlihood ManCast 00:00 Introduction and Upcoming Event Announcement 02:25 Welcome to the Manlihood ManCast 02:56 Understanding Privilege and Responsibility 03:09 The Concept of Male Privilege 05:57 The Responsibility of Being a Man 09:03 Leadership and Responsibility 11:25 Doing the Right Thing: A Man's Responsibility 13:26 The Difference Between Privilege and Responsibility 18:07 The Weight of Responsibility 18:55 Conclusion and Invitation to Manlihood ManCave --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/manlihood/message

On this episode of Manly Chunks of Wisdom on the Manlihood ManCast, we'll feature Quotes from Jordan Peterson. Jordan Peterson is a Canadian clinical psychologist, cultural critic, and professor of psychology. Born on June 12, 1962, in Alberta, Canada, he gained widespread recognition for his critiques of political correctness and advocacy for free speech. Peterson rose to international prominence with his opposition to compelled speech legislation in Canada. He is also a prolific author, with his best-selling book "Maps of Meaning" and the widely successful "12 Rules for Life: An Antidote to Chaos." Known for his insightful perspectives on psychology, philosophy, and societal issues, Peterson has become a prominent figure in contemporary intellectual discourse. At Manlihood, we're curating chunks of manly wisdom for you. If you're like a lot of men, you may find yourself short on time for reading long books to look for wisdom that you can apply to your life…. We're offering you the Campbells Soup version… the best quotes and insights to help inspire you to be an even better man. “I don't think that you have any insight whatsoever into your capacity for good until you have some well-developed insight into your capacity for evil.” ― Jordan B. Peterson “To stand up straight with your shoulders back is to accept the terrible responsibility of life, with eyes wide open. It means deciding to voluntarily transform the chaos of potential into the realities of habitable order. It means adopting the burden of self-conscious vulnerability, and accepting the end of the unconscious paradise of childhood, where finitude and mortality are only dimly comprehended. It means willingly undertaking the sacrifices necessary to generate a productive and meaningful reality (it means acting to please God, in the ancient language).” ― Jordan B. Peterson, 12 Rules for Life: An Antidote to Chaos “When you have something to say, silence is a lie.” ― Jordan B. Peterson, 12 Rules for Life: An Antidote to Chaos “You're going to pay a price for every bloody thing you do and everything you don't do. You don't get to choose to not pay a price. You get to choose which poison you're going to take. That's it.” ― Jordan B. Peterson “You can only find out what you actually believe (rather than what you think you believe) by watching how you act. You simply don't know what you believe, before that. You are too complex to understand yourself.” ― Jordan B. Peterson, 12 Rules for Life: An Antidote to Chaos “If you can't understand why someone is doing something, look at the consequences of their actions, whatever they might be, and then infer the motivations from their consequences. For example if someone is making everyone around them miserable and you'd like to know why, their motive may simply be to make everyone around them miserable including themselves.” ― Jordan B. Peterson “If you fulfill your obligations everyday you don't need to worry about the future.” ― Jordan Peterson “It took untold generations to get you where you are. A little gratitude might be in order. If you're going to insist on bending the world to your way, you better have your reasons.” ― Jordan B. Peterson, 12 Rules for Life: An Antidote to Chaos “To suffer terribly and to know yourself as the cause: that is Hell.” ― Jordan B. Peterson, 12 Rules for Life: An Antidote to Chaos “If you are not willing to be a fool, you can't become a master.” ― Jordan B. Peterson “Compare yourself to who you were yesterday, not to who someone else is today.” ― Jordan B. Peterson, 12 Rules for Life: An Antidote to Chaos “And if you think tough men are dangerous, wait until you see what weak men are capable of.” ― Jordan B. I've seen in my own life that I can't ever really hide anything. If I have a truth that I want to hide behind deception - it will always come out. Men, this matters. And we need to have this hard conversation today. More from Josh Hatcher: http://joshhatcher.com More from Manlihood: http://manlihood.com Cosmic Laws Whether you believe in God, or just the random spinning of the universe, we have to believe in certain cosmic laws. I would call them divine laws - you may call them something else. We may even disagree on what some of them are - but there are many that we find common ground on. Sowing and Reaping The principle of sowing and reaping is one of those cosmic laws. What you plant, you will pick. If you plant tomato plants, you will not pick zucchini - you will pick tomatoes. If I treat people poorly, it will come back to me. If I lie, it will eventually be exposed. When we try to bury certain behaviors or attitudes, that is honestly like burying a seed in the ground. It will grow and eventually - we'll harvest it. Truth Always Come Out Let's not be so short sighted to think that just because we did not get caught NOW, that we're going to get away scott-free. Eventually, the truth always comes out. Honest is truly the best policy I would rather someone be honest with me up front - then for me to trust them, only to find out that they lied. Better to come clean than to be stripped bare Given the choice between exposing my mistakes, and being exposed by someone else - I can assure you that coming forward and telling the truth is a much better feeling than having someone else tell all of your dirty laundry for you. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/manlihood/message

Subscribe to our Youtube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/manlihood?sub_confirmation=1 For several years, physicists and scientists and philosophers have presented the idea that the concepts in the Matrix movies may not be as fictional as they would appear. Elon Musk has said that it's entirely likely that we are living in a simulation. And he's not alone. Many scholars have pondered the question, are we living in a reality, or a simulation of some kind? In the Matrix trilogy, Morpheus addresses Keanu Reeve's character, Neo, and offers him a choice. Take the BLUE PILL and continue to believe what you know, or take the RED PILL and you can see the truth. That Red Pill metaphor has permeated culture, with everything from conspiracy theories to the incel movement, to just a general representation of mankind accepting truth. Are we living in a simulation? I don't believe that the simulation is a computer or holographic simulation - but I do believe that there is some truth behind this concept. Let's look deeper. Who owns the media? 15 billionaires and 6 corporations own and control almost all of the major media outlets in the United States. Check out this infographic: https://citizensformediareform.com/2019/02/09/6-companies-that-own-almost-all-media/ Declassified The FBI and the CIA have declassified many of their old case files and operations. They are not all declassified, and some are heavily redacted. One thing is clear, there are things that have been done by these government agencies that raise suspicions about their motives, their intentions, and their allegiance to the Constitution of the United States, the sovereignty of other nations, and the freedoms of the American people. If the CIA could do experiments on US citizens in the 1960s, why would we believe they stopped today? If they were influencing foreign journalists to portray a false narrative to the people in order to participate in psychological warfare, why would we assume they stopped today? I understand that these questions are bordering on conspiracy theory. I want to make it clear that I'm not saying with concrete evidence that there is malfeasance, but judging on what was done in the past, it takes a certain degree of cognitive dissonance to believe that these actions have stopped. Here are a couple of declassified events and programs that ought to give you pause before you trust the narrative that the media is telling you the truth, and that the government has your best interest at heart. I want to encourage to look these up for yourself, and read the original declassified files, and then rather than just assume a conspiracy theory about them, be aware of these as historical instances that may shape our current reality. Subscribe to our Youtube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/manlihood?sub_confirmation=1 Grit is a manly virtue that is often overlooked. Especially in a culture of instant gratification, we honestly forget the power of perseverance and resilience, and how they relate to a man achieving success. Them That win is Them That Don't Quit - Harrison Ford Purpose Knowing your WHY can help you do any WHAT or any HOW. When a man digs into his purpose, he can use that to help him push through any obstacle. Determination Everything starts with a decision. When that decision or determination is made, it is the start of a mindset. When a mind is truly SET on something, it can continue to accomplish anything, Perseverance It's so important no to give up… not to surrender… not to quit. Perseverance is the key. It's not easy, nor is it simply granted by fairies or empty prayers. It take practice, and when purpose and determination are set in place, it's possible to keep striving and pushing through the hardship. Strength of Will Remember that strength is a muscle that we build. While there are surely some born with stronger more stubborn wills than others, most folks have to exercise to get strong. Start small, pick a few small disciplines to practice daily, or a few small and easy bad habits to break. Keep it up, and your WILL will become stronger. ------------------ Get REIGNITE: A MAN'S FIELD GUIDE TO TAKING BACK HIS LIFE http://www.manlihood.com/reignite/ Join the ManCave Today: http://facebook.com/groups/manlihoodmancave ---------------- Do you have a question you'd like to have answered on The Manlihood ManCast? Toxic is not masculine Masculine is not just biological. It implies honor. It implies nobility. Toxic behaviors are bad. Toxic behaviors that specifically hurt women are bad. Toxic behaviors that bully people are bad. Toxic behaviors that don’t allow men to properly process emotion are bad. In this podcast episode for men, Josh Hatcher of Manlihood.com breaks down the answer for happiness for men. Happiness isn’t the point of life. Don’t make it your most important pursuit. We’ll talk more about that in a bit. Perspective If men want happiness, it starts by realigning your perspective with a clearer picture of your situation. It’s often easy to see the bad things and lose focus. You’ve heard the old adage, “I always envied a pair of new shoes till I met a man with no feet.” Gratitude Gratitude is not just a reaction to happiness for men. It’s actually a catalyst. We often equate feelings with actions or choices. We may not feel grateful, but choosing to express gratitude unlocks the feelings we desperately need. Discipline We usually don’t think of discipline as happy - but the truth is - taking care of ourselves, eating right, getting exercise, sleeping well have a huge impact on how we feel. To be disciplined to put good content in our brains and reject the content that makes us feel bad also requires discipline. Joy vs Happiness Happiness is a feeling. Joy is a choice - a state of mind. It’s okay to want to be happy, but don’t let the feeling satisfy. Life will often bring times of sadness, anger, loneliness, or other feelings we think of as unhappy. We have to learn that to choose joy helps us overcome the despair that those other feelings can bring if left unchecked. ------------------ Get REIGNITE: A MAN’S FIELD GUIDE TO TAKING BACK HIS LIFE http://www.manlihood.com/reignite/ Join the ManCave Today: http://facebook.com/groups/manlihoodmancave ---------------- Do you have a question you'd like to have answered on The Manlihood ManCast? There have been a glut of anti-gun and anti-man opinion articles written about a link between masculinity and gun violence. “Gun Culture” is often largely committed by men. In cases where someone is killed with a gun - statistically, they are more likely to be killed by a man. Does this mean there is a link? Is masculinity the problem? This Washington Post piece asks the question: Why is American masculinity at the center of gun culture, but not the gun debate? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LjQqwrNQraA Maybe we should just BAN MEN! What does it mean to be a man? What traits are associated with masculinity? Strength Strength does not come from winning. Your struggles develop your strengths. When you go through hardships and decide not to surrender, that is strength. ~Arnold Schwarzenegger Courage It is courage, courage, courage, that raises the blood of life to crimson splendor. Live bravely and present a brave front to adversity. -Horace Independence A man can stand a lot as long as he can stand himself. ~ Axel Munthe Leadership Leadership is not Lordship. It’s service. It’s helping. It’s influence. Assertiveness To be assertive works best if not tied with arrogance. It’s okay to demand justice and truth. It’s okay to stand for what’s right. It’s okay to ask for a raise, or expect your family to obey you. This must be balanced with humility and integrity, or it’s just another jerk spouting off. Vision “Vision is the art of seeing what is invisible to others.” Jonathan Swift “A great leader’s courage to fulfill his vision comes from passion, not position.” John Maxwell Integrity The root word of “integrity” is “integer” - which means “whole” If you have integrity - you are whole - not fractured by character flaws. Brotherhood Men are the best they can be when they are together. A better man has brothers in his life. A better man craves brotherhood, from which he not only benefits, but contributes. ------------------ Get REIGNITE: A MAN’S FIELD GUIDE TO TAKING BACK HIS LIFE http://www.manlihood.com/reignite/ Join the ManCave Today: http://facebook.com/groups/manlihoodmancave ---------------- Do you have a question you'd like to have answered on The Manlihood ManCast? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rjg3_Cq1dB0 Set your mind on winning Mindset is everything. The most powerful force in your life. Set it on winning, and you’ll be a more powerful man. Work hard. Every Day. Nothing good comes free. You’ve got to earn it. If you want to be a more powerful man, you’ll have to earn that. So work hard. Grind at everything you do. Surround yourself with winners. They say you are the sum total of the 5 people you spend the most time with. Are you hanging otu with losers? Or are you surrounding yourself with powerful men that will teach you how to dominate? View Failure as your teacher. Everybody fails. Stop looking at it as the destination. It’s not wrong to fail. It’s wrong to not learn from your failure. Become a student of leadership. If you want to become a powerful man, you have to study leadership principles. It will do you no good to have power and have no clue how to use it. Serve people. This may seem counterintuitive, but the truth is - if we want to be great -- if we want to be a more powerful man and to dominate - our perspective can easily become warped. It’s about serving people. It’s about helping people. That is how you will gain influence, wealth, or whatever it is you seek. The true rewards though are not in position or power, but in relationships. Be disciplined If you want to be a more powerful man, you have to train. If you wanted to be able to lift more weights, you have to discipline your body and train it to be stronger. The same is true in every aspect of your life. Have integrity They say power corrupts. If you want to be a more powerful man, but you don’t have a foundation of integrity - it means nothing. And integrity in and of itself will help you build and grow your influence. In this episode of the Manlihood ManCast, Josh Hatcher talks about the building the muscle of your mind. We hear a lot of talk about physical exercise and strength building. Which is good! But we need to talk about building up the mind, too. Garbage In / Garbage Out What we consume affects what we produce. Doing reps We need to use affirmations to build up and tone muscle. Repeat truth to yourself until you believe it. Powerlifting If you want to be headstrong, it takes time. You’ve got to keep working it over time. I can guarantee you, you are already stronger than you think you are. Discipline equals freedom. We think of discipline as uncomfortable - but you’ve got to TRAIN your brain how to think. It literally rewrites your brain chemistry! (Look up Dr. Caroline Leaf’s research on this!) If you build healthy habits in the way you think, it really does set you free. But it takes discipline! ----------- Get REIGNITE: A MAN’S FIELD GUIDE TO TAKING BACK HIS LIFE http://www.manlihood.com/reignite/ Join the ManCave Today: http://facebook.com/groups/manlihoodmancave ---------------- Do you have a question you'd like to have answered on The Manlihood ManCast? In this episode of the Manlihood ManCast, Josh Hatcher shares some quotes from stoic philosophers. Stoicism is an interesting philosophy that was popular in the Early Greek and Roman Empire. That philosophy has had resonance all throughout history. No manmade philosophy is perfect - so if you poke at it long enough, of course you’ll find something you disagree with. There’s a bit of a resurgence in Stoic philosophy these days, almost in a counter to the more emotionally driven and amoral culture that has been stirred up these days. Stoic philosophy teaches the development of self control and fortitude to combat and overcome destructive emotions. You can see why that would resonate with some today, and be quite controversial with others. In this episode of the Manlihood ManCast, Josh Hatcher talks about the meaning of Christmas. The REAL meaning of Christmas - is that God loved you so much, that he sent his son to live among you. God himself chose to be a sweaty smelly human - a crying pooping baby - who would do great things, but would also suffer and die as a sacrifice for sin… God himself became sin - to pay for yours. ----------- Get REIGNITE: A MAN’S FIELD GUIDE TO TAKING BACK HIS LIFE http://www.manlihood.com/reignite/ For more: http://joshhatcher.com | http://manlihood.com Join the ManCave Today: http://facebook.com/groups/manlihoodmancave ---------------- Do you have a question you'd like to have answered on The Manlihood ManCast? In this episode of the Manlihood ManCast, Josh Hatcher talks about some of the manliest history about Saint Nicholas. Santa Claus may be shrouded in myth, but the real Man in Red was quite the manly man. According to history and legend, there are a number of stories that paint “Jolly Old Saint Nick” in a slightly different light than we see on the Christmas Cards. That Time Santa Claus hit a heretic in the face. That time he saved three daughters from being sold into prostitution That time he solved a grisly murder and did a miracle That time he told a storm at sea to take chill pill and it listened Nicholas wasn’t some soft fat guy sitting at the mall while a hundred kids made demands. He spoke with authority – so strongly that winds and waves shut the hell up at his request. Let’s strive for a little of that kind of authority in our lives! Speak boldly to the frightening circumstances in your life, and tell them to shut the hell up!
