JR Wilburn is from Portsmouth, Virginia where his dad worked in the navy yards. He had a lot of friends in the neighborhood playing sports for much of his childhood. He started late with organized sports and football became his focus. He went on to play college football as a wide receiver at the University of South Carolina. JR talked about rivalries and how they both have some disdain for UNC. After college, JR was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Buffalo Bills. He played for the Steelers from 1966-1970 with one of those years catching balls from Terry Bradshaw. He was coached by the legendary Chuck Noll. They talked about some Steeler greats like “Mean” Joe Greene, how great a place Pittsburgh was to play and their incredible fan base. Paul also learned a lot from JR about the Rooneys who own the Steelers. He told a couple really nice stories about them, one which involved his induction into the Virginia Sports Hall of Fame. They ended with JR talking about his family and his unique grand dad name!

Throughout it all, Michelle's journey has been characterized by her unbridled love of the game, an unwillingness to deal with BS (she always keeps it real and calls a spade a spade), and a prioritization of her family and teammates. In fact, this ENTIRE 1985 series was her idea, as she wanted to give credit to her teammates for the foundational role they have played in the USWNT. In Michelle's story she shares about her ups and downs, her battles with U.S. Soccer, and her life today with son Cody on the farm. Miami Dolphins Tales From The Deep Tim Bowens made an immediate impact with the Miami Dolphins, who selected the massive defensive tackle in the first round of the 1994 draft despite the Okolona, Mississippi native having played just nine games of NCAA football. Bowens would be named NFL Rookie of the Year that season and would go on to anchor the Dolphins defensive front from 1994-2004 with a mythlike strength and toughness that is still marveled at to this day. In a rare interview for the Pro Bowl defender, “Timbo” reflects upon life in Okolona (2:40), details his journey from Itawamba Community College to Ole Miss (5:05), and recalls a hometown, pre-draft visit he received from Pro Football Hall of Famer and then-Miami Dolphins defensive line coach, “Mean” Joe Greene (9:05). An Official Miami Dolphins Podcast Marco Coleman rewrote the record books at Georgia Tech, finishing as the school's all-time leader with 28 sacks in just three seasons. Coleman entered the 1992 NFL Draft following his junior year and didn't have to wait long before the Miami Dolphins selected him 12thoverall. Coleman would go on to play four of his 14 NFL seasons in Miami, establishing himself as a dominating force on the Dolphins defensive front and a team leader on and off the field. Currently, Coleman is the Defensive Ends/Outside Linebackers Coach at his alma mater. In the tank, Marco reflects upon the meaningfulness of being drafted by Don Shula and coached by “Mean Joe” Greene (10:11), discusses the difference in how athletes and coaches were involved in social issues during his playing days to what that looks like today, even with the student –athletes he coaches (14:50) and explains the pros and cons that came with the heavy veteran presence on the 1992 Miami Dolphins (25:01).
