On this episode of Queering The Air, Sasja was in conversation with Guy Ritani, system designer at PERMAQUEER and also one of the masterminds behind DAYMA - “May This Meal Last.” This innovative initiative combines elements of community engagement, theatrical performance, and a sustainable banquet to offer a delightful and meaningful experience that bridges generational gaps and addresses critical issues surrounding food waste, cultural appreciation, and human connections. By weaving together narratives, culinary traditions, melodies, and eco-conscious practices, DAYMA nurtures a profound bond between youths and their predecessors while underscoring the vital need to minimize food wastage. This project embodies a profound ethos of nurturing ourselves, fostering communal ties, and preserving the environment through the transcendent acts of culinary exchange, cultural celebration, and knowledge sharing. This event also serves as a welcoming gesture to new families from Gaza, Palestine who have recently settled in Naarm/Melbourne.  Everthing you need to know about --> DAYMADate : June 22, 2024Time : 10:00 am - 3:00 pm (Australia/Melbourne)Venue : Multicultural hub, 506 Elizabeth St, Melbourne VIC 3000 Music:Bitter Sweet Symphony by The VerveI am by Stan WalkerHind's Hall by Macklemore

“Don't let fear guide you. You've chosen this path, lead it with love.”Richa and her husband, who were both born and educated in India, now live in Melbourne and home educate their two children, aged 7 and 2. We cover a variety of topics in this episode including Montessori, minimalism, community building, sibling dynamics and fostering a love of reading, nature and kindness.SUMMARY:When Richa and her husband were house hunting in Melbourne they were ironically drawn to Bayside for the schools, but it was the solace and peace of being next to water that solidified their choice to call this area home.Early on people would point out that her child had a lot of anxiety and that she was so attached, but isn't that how humans are designed to be? We are supposed to be close to our caregivers. They migrated to Melbourne without any support system, all their family live in India. Finding other friends who homeschool has been an incredible help and given their family both mental and physical support. There is chaos in bringing a younger sibling into the mix of homeschooling but it is also enriching for the sibling connections and bonding - if her daughter were in school right now, her son would hardly see her.Open your house up to welcome friends in, share a meal together, do a craft together. It can be hard finding the people with whom you can connect with on a deeper level.Intentionally not over-scheduling their week. Letting them be, giving them free time to tinker around - she values that more.Homeschooling minimally means not having more things and more materials. Not overwhelming yourself with the multitude of curriculum choices out there. It's very easy to bring overwhelm into your space. It's about prioritising less. She is looking forward to seeing the beautiful people her children turn out to be and the joy they bring to othersRead more, talk to people who have been doing this for a long time. It's easier and less daunting than it seems.INSPIRATIONSimplicity Parenting - Kim John Payne (book)Unconditional Parenting - Alfie Kohn (book)The Secret of Childhood - Maria Montessori (book)Good Inside Podcast - Dr Becky Kennedy@bigmothering (instagram) @mainly.montesorri.homeschool (instagram) @wonderled.life (instagram)RESOURCESBlossom & Root - Nature based, secular homeschooling curriculum CONNECTInstagram - @waliarichaNOTE: This is an abridged version of the show notes.Follow the link below to find quotes and read aloud recommendations Richa shares in this episode:FULL SHOW NOTES HEREConnect with us:Instagram - @australianhomeschoolstoriesSubstack - Australian Homeschool StoriesThis podcast is recorded on the lands of the Bunurong people of the Kulin nation. Thank for clicking or downloading on todays episode with "Blue Speedos" otherwise known as Nathan the 5th eliminated eliminated contestant from this years Australian Survivor on Network Ten.  I will be talking about the his time in Samoa and of course what he thinks now… that the smoke has well truly been snuffed out and faded into oblivion. .  Australian Survivor: Titans V Rebels is a showdown that pits the winners against the underdogs and the big wigs against the battlers, with each player competing for the grand prize of $500,000.  Nathan from from Melbourne VIC, early campaign to focus on tribe strength alienated him from the Titans majority alliance.  Although he was able to help his tribe embark on a winning streak in Immunity Challenges after he lost immunity on Day 14, the majority alliance's preference for loyalty over strength. Prompted them to vote him out in a split vote. Nathan will talk about his early fumble with Frankie and discuss how he would play the game different if he could go back in time and if he returns in a future series. He will unpack those blue speedos. Telling us why he chose them and  we will discuss why they might not have been a good idea. I will address the current situation at the Titans camp and why Kelli didn't blink an eye being benched in the immunity challenge.  Plus he will explain why they aren't eating fish that would obviously be in the water and not consuming the berries that would be on the trees. There is so much to unpack with Nathan and he is really fun to talk to. So sit back and relax as we dive just that little bit deeper into the world of Australian Survivor. Having DJ'd for the better part of a decade, and holding a 7yr residency at QLD's Elsewhere Bar, his relocation to Melbourne has seen him swiftly excel in a scene that forces artists to sink or swim. A Brand New Start - TrackTribe片尾音乐:Queenstown - Passenger『留言互动』微博:@Coffeeplus播客豆瓣小组:Coffeeplus播客微信公众号:Coffeeplus播客也可以搜索添加微信Fishplus_wx,备注“播客”,我们添加您进微信交流群~『澳洲咖啡图鉴』拿铁Latte(左)/澳白FW(右上)/卡布Cap(右下)Long Black (右)拿铁Latte(左)和Short black(右)BabyccinoPiccolo和Latte植物奶------------私藏榜单--------------AU 7927/29 Nicholson St, Abbotsford VIC, 3067 周一至周五: 7:00am ~ 16:00pm 周六日:8:00am ~ 16:00pmPatricia Coffee Brewers493-495 Little Bourke St, Melbourne VIC, 3000周一至周五:7:00am ~ 14:00pm周六日:店休Axil Coffee Roasters 565 Bourke St, Melbourne VIC, 3000门店暂时关闭,开放时间未知Industry Beans70-76 Westgarth St, Fitzroy VIC, 3065周一至周五:7:00am ~ 15:00pm周六日:8:00am ~ 15:00pmBrother Baba Budan359 Little Bourke St, Melbourne VIC, 3000周一至周日:8:00am ~ 15:00pmCartel Coffee Roasters1/80 Lt Malop Street, Geelong 3220周一至周六:8:00am ~ 16:00pm周日:8:00am ~ 15:00pmProud Mary Coffee Roasters / Aunty Peg's172 Oxford St, Collingwood VIC 3066 200 Wellington St, Collingwood VIC 周一至周五:7:30am ~ 15:00pm 周一至周日:9:00am ~ 17:00pm周六日:8:00am ~ 15:00pmMarket Lane Coffee Shop 73-76 Dairy Produce Hall Queen Victoria Market, Melbourne VIC 3000 周二/周四/周五:6:15am ~ 15:00pm周六:6:15am ~ 16:00pm周日:7:30am ~ 16:00pm 周一/周三: 店休Auction Rooms103-107 Errol St, North Melbourne VIC 3051周一至周五:7:00am ~ 15:30pm周六日:8:00am ~ 16:00pmArtificer Coffee547 Bourke St, Surry Hills, NSW 2010周一至周五:7:00am ~ 12:00pm周六日:8:00am ~ 13:00pmSingle O Surry Hills 60-64 Reservoir St, Surry Hills NSW 2010 周一至周五:7:00am ~ 14:30pm周六日:8:00am ~ 15:00pmThe Reformatory Caffeine Lab17-51 Foveaux St, Surry Hills NSW 2010 周一至周五:6:30am ~ 16:00pm周六:8:00am ~ 14:00pm周日:店休ONA CoffeeHouse Cafe68 Wollongong St, Fyshwick ACT 2603周一至周五:7:00am ~ 14:00pm周六日:8:00am ~ 13:30pmMONDOLI成都天仙桥南路8号附10号周一至周日: 10:00am ~ 24:00pm

Mark Ottobre is the owner and founder of Enterprise Fitness in Melbourne, Victoria. He's a trainer of champions and the reason I love superheroes. Creator of Wolfpack which I can proudly say I was the first coach he called to be a part of back in 2016. His mission is to raise the standards of trainers in the health and fitness industry and is certainly leading the way. He's the reason I reconnected to using “Personal Trainer” with pride. He was a big influence on me in my early days as a coach. I had all the passion, but lacked the business and structure to be successful at what I do. All heart, but no hope, until I got the call from Mark to take part in his Wolfpack Mentorship Program. Mark has been very open in sharing that he was once upon a time the fat kid in school until he found a love for weight training in high school that transformed his life and it's safe to say he hasn't looked back. Now he's leading the way and is a massive influence on the next generation of health and fitness leaders. He has raised the stakes and expectations of what and how a trainer can change your life. And in this episode we talk about superheroes, plus what he does to collect his thoughts and how he's managed to summon his superhuman strength in times when he needed it. Enjoy! And share the love and comments below. If you'd like to connect with Mark, you can easily find him on FB, IG, YouTube and he has his own podcast “The Wolf's Den” where you can tune in to his great work. Enterprise Fitness is a Personal Training Studio located in Richmond, Melbourne VIC. www.melbournepersonaltrainers.comJoin the Summon Your Superhuman VIP List and community for special events like the 3-Day Virtual Challenge taking place this week for real-time action steps to go from Frustration to Focus. Register here for your personal invitation and more details: https://upbeat-mover-535.ck.page/78a549cb68

Mimi Matthews has enjoyed best-selling success in Victorian fiction and non-fiction, with romances that ask thoughtful social questions as well as entertain. And her playful animal tales in The Pug Who Bit Napoleon, a not-so-romantic interaction that took place on his wedding night, is one of dozens of amusing animal stories from the 18th and 19th centuries Hi there, I'm your host Jenny Wheeler, and today  Mimi talks about her latest book, Gentleman Jim, a rollicking romantic Regency, and tells what it was like to get her first publishing deal when she was still a relatively young teenager. To help celebrate the end of what has been a pretty hard year for many of us, Mimi's Christmas novella, A Holiday by Gaslight, will be one of four books featured in our Twelve Days of Christmas giveaway, starting this week. Six things you'll learn from this Joys of Binge Reading episode: The startlingly young age Mimi got her first book dealHow an accident brought her back to fictionWhy she loves the VictoriansThe serious side to Victorian romance - marriage as a careerWhat's different about Regency plotsWhy Prince Albert's greyhound touched her heart Where to find Mimi Matthews:  Website: https://www.mimimatthews.com/ Facebook: @MimiMatthewsAuthor Twitter: @MimiMatthewsEsq BookBub: https://www.bookbub.com/profile/mimi-matthews Goodreads: https://www.goodreads.com/author/show/16948224.Mimi_Matthews Pinterest: https://www.pinterest.nz/MimiMatthewsEsq/ What follows is a "near as" transcript of our conversation, not word for word but pretty close to it, with links to important mentions. Jenny Wheeler: But now here's Mimi. Hello there, Mimi and welcome to the show. It's great to have you with us. Mimi Matthews: Hi Jenny. I'm so glad to be here. Thanks for having me. Introducing Mimi Matthews Jenny Wheeler: Beginning at the beginning – it's a very predictable question with this show now because it's one I ask every one of our guests but I think people always want to know the answer – was there a Once Upon a Time moment when you decided that you just had to write fiction and if so, what was the catalyst for it? Mimi Matthews - Author Mimi Matthews: I would have to say, always being when I was little, really creative – like some little kids when they play with their toys or their dolls and thinking up stories and little scenes for them to act out. My mom encouraged me to write it down, once I was able to actually be writing. This would have been at elementary school and I kept doing it. No one ever told me you can't do that, you're not old enough, you don't know enough, so I felt really comfortable writing out my ideas and little bits of a dialogue. Eventually, by the time I was 13, I had written a book. It's not a masterpiece, but it was good enough that I was able to send it out on submission. Then when I was 18, I got an agent. I think a lot of it had to do with being young and a little bit of a dreamer and no one ever saying, you can't write these down, you can't make stories. So I did, and it ended up becoming books. Jenny Wheeler: It's quite remarkable that at such a young age you were able to do that. Writing her own stories Mimi Matthews: I never even realized when I was doing it, because I had always been doing it. It was nothing highbrow or technical. I didn't have a ton of skill at plotting things out or charac...

Recorded live in Carlton, Melbourne VIC 3053 on Wednesday 3rd June 2020. I just love her energy so much and we could go on and on about random things. After chatting to her on the Study Melbourne Leadership Labs podcast and just casually chatting to her about life, I finally chat to her on The Glocals podcast. This experience was definitely different and we are both so glad that we could form a friendship thanks to our convos. With me and Pyper both being in a place of changes and growth, we reflected on our journeys and discussed how we are learning to be kind to ourselves and others. Empathy and compassion are not just for others, because they start from within. Now, more than ever, we need to know and acknowledge that we are doing the best we can. Recorded live in Ringwood, Melbourne VIC 3134 on Monday 18th May 2020. Diane has been a huge supporter of my work as well as all the other La Trobe students and she's always there for us. I've known her for quite a while and she has this energy, this way about her that is just so positive. I've always wanted to have this chat with her, but you know, life happens and we couldn't really sit down and have a chat until now. When I asked her to join me on the podcast, she said yes, but she wanted to chat to me first because the topic she wanted to talk about, according to her, is a tough one to talk about. This has never happened before, and when she finally told me what it was, I cried a little. Not because it is a sad thing, but because I had no idea she was struggling with that much pain and still remained so positive and still supported us students with all her heart. It's one of those little things that remind me of how human we all are, and how we should always pay attention to the people around us. I wish I could hug her right there and then. But of course, we couldn't hug in person, so I sent her my virtual hugs and promised to shout her KFC - her fave! Diane's message for our convo is: “Life is short - appreciate those around you and appreciate the small things.” She also shared: “I enjoyed the freedom to share my story - a topic that may be taboo for some in the community. The natural flow of the conversation was also enjoyable.” For those of you that would like to know more about our amazing Diane and her journey, her message for you is: “Listeners can follow my 'journey' on Instagram under the account > geeeesman”. Recorded live in Ringwood, Melbourne VIC 3134 on Wednesday 15 April 2020. I met Hoa through Study Melbourne Ambassadors 2020 Program, and I am so glad that she was one of the few to say yes to joining me on The Glocals podcast. We both come from Vietnam, so it was a little strange to chat in English, but I'm glad we did because what we talked about can really help anyone and everyone! To us, being in the early stage of our careers means that we have the luxury to learn from others and also be creative. No matter which stage you are at in your career, chances are you agree with us when it comes to the importance of personal branding and networking. These 2 go hand in hand and they are the key to success, and we both share the same view mainly because we share so much in our own journeys. We hope that this helps our friends out there who wish to kickstart their careers, and we hope that experienced professionals can add to what we have to say! Recorded live in Ringwood, Melbourne VIC 3134 and Germany on Saturday 11 April 2020. I met Silvia when literally just moved to Melbourne. There she was in a Unicef t-shirt fundraising on the street and at the time I don't know what got into me but I approached her instead of the other way around and asked her about joining Unicef. I was so happy I got to join the team but shortly after, she left Australia to return to Germany. We lost touch for a bit but I'm so glad we've reconnected now. So much love and positive energies in this convo! We discussed all things curiosity and how staying curious can be beneficial for us in multiple ways. It does not only help with seeing the world with different eyes but also with how we see ourselves. I had so much fun and it was such a good reminder to "be curious, not judgemental"! Recorded live in Ringwood, Melbourne VIC 3134 on Friday 10 April 2020. I met Shawn at a Melbourne meetup about Knowledge Management and I was captivated by his love for storytelling, and coming to know that he's the founder of Anecdote was one of the highlights for me. I was intrigued to learn about how he would tell his stories, so I asked him to join the podcast. Luckily for us, he said yes and we had a really good chat about speaking with mindfulness. How often do you actually pay attention to the tiny signs in a conversation? Do you realise how you present yourself and your ideas? Have you ever wondered why some politicians speak in certain ways that sometimes don't make sense while others speak from the heart and it touches you? We discussed them all, and I learned so much from a good old conversation with Shawn. It was also really great to get to know how Anecdote came about! --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/the-glocals/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/the-glocals/support

Published Feb 18, 2018 “On 18 April 2016, the Board of .au Domain Administration (auDA) approved second level domain name registration in .au, known as direct registration. Direct registration will give Australian users of the Internet the choice of registering a name directly before the dot in .au, for example, yourname.au. The existing 2LDs will continue to operate as dedicated domains for businesses, not for profits, government, education and individuals.” “The opening of a .au domain namespace is the most significant change to the .au DNS structure in 30 years. “ The auDA Board Convened and Published Document in October 17 titled “Implementation of Second Level Domain Name Registrations (Direct Registration)” which covered (1) the development of an implementation policy for direct registration; and (2) policy reform. https://www.auda.org.au/assets/pdf/2017PRP-0310201... REGISTRATION PROCESS Extracts from https://www.auda.org.au/assets/Uploads/PRP-Issues-... Item 15. There are three fundamental principles that underpin the .au domain name registration system: (1) no proprietary rights in a domain name, (2) no hierarchy of rights, and (3) first come, first served. A registrant does not ‘own' a domain name but has a licence to use and dispose of the domain name for a specified period. A trademark owner has no better entitlement to a domain name than a business name owner. A registrant of a domain name in one 2LD has no greater entitlement to the same name in another 2LD than a third party or another 2LD registrant. The first person that applies to register a domain name will be entitled to register the domain name, subject to the availability of the domain name. Extract from: https://www.auda.org.au/assets/pdf/2017PRP-0310201... Item 8. The Panel is considering giving existing registrants across all 2LDs priority to register the exact matching second level domain name; But who gets priority is a little complicated and undecided. Extracts from https://www.auda.org.au/assets/pdf/2017PRP-0310201... Given the uncertainty around the launch date for direct registration, low awareness among the public about direct registration and the passage of more than 18 months since the announcement, it may be more equitable to select a cut-off date sometime in the future. 60. Choosing the 18 April 2016 Board announcement as the cut-off date for determining priority registrant rights will disadvantage registrants that have registered a third level domain name after this date. The NZ and UK cut-off date was between 3- 6 months before the launch date. A later cutoff date may increase the number of conflicted names. HOW WILL COMPETING CLAIMS BE RESOLVED? auDA are considering: Extracts from https://www.auda.org.au/assets/pdf/2017PRP-0310201... Item 61. A longest continuous registrant approach be adopted to resolve competing claims, because the choice of a later cut-off date will have less impact than if the lottery approach is adopted. Item 62. The Panel is working on the assumption registrants of domain names across all 2LDs registered at the cut-off date will be eligible for priority registration. WHO.IS YOUR COMPETITION? Anybody with a second level domain such as the open domains, which are com.au, net.au, org.au, asn.au, and id.au. You can use this database to search for owners of domains https://who.is/ CONCERNED? MAKING A SUBMISSION BY 4TH OF MARCH 2018 Extracts from; https://www.auda.org.au/assets/Uploads/PRP-Issues-... 8. The Panel invites written submissions by close of business on 4 March 2018. Submissions can be emailed to policy.review@auda.org.au or by post to: Policy Review Panel c/o .au Domain Administration Ltd PO Box 18315 MELBOURNE VIC 3001 9. In the absence of a clear indication that the submission is confidential, the Policy Review Panel will treat the submission as public. Recorded live in Bundoora, Melbourne VIC 3086 on Tuesday, 17 December 2019. Hey hey my friends, Happy Lunar New Year if you are celebrating this occasion. If not, I hope you are having an awesome start to the week! Meet Jess, a perfect stranger at La Trobe University that I had the chance to talk to the day before my graduation for my Master's. I was listening to this conversation again and I realised how long it is, but it makes sense considering how this is how 2 perfect strangers got to know each other. We started out discussing our uni lives, and coping plays into that A LOT, no matter how our journeys have been. As everyone has been a student at some point, I thought this is absolutely relatable and would help a lot of our peers out there to realise that when we are so caught up in our busy schedules juggling between studying and working, it is okay to accept whatever coping mechanism you are using. In our cases, we discussed overeating and having an unhealthy diet when coping with our busy uni lives and how taking a break really helps to re-evaluate what we have been doing and how to change our behaviour. What's even more awesome is how Jess referred to The Glocals' Convo #3 with Noah and discussed schemas. She gave me some more insights into how our behaviours can only be changed when things are built into our schemas. However, we agreed that sometimes we just don't have the luxury of stopping to reflect and re-evaluate, so it is okay to change our behaviours bit by bit as we go and give empathy to ourselves and people around us. At the end of the day, we don't know what a person is going through until we really talk to them and they openly share their stories, which is why we briefly mentioned how a person's reality is completely different from their Instagram feed. As this conversation happened at the end of 2019 and coping for a whole year leads to a desire for change, we also went into New Year's Resolutions and discussed how they work for us. Even though the last day of 2019 wouldn't be much of a difference compared to the first day of 2020, it is totally worthy to set some new goals for the new year and change things around. How do you set goals? Personally, I shared with Jess how I set goals based on Project Management's principles, so yes, my yearly goals have got to be SMART. Well, I do understand that some intangible things cannot be measured with numbers, but there are other ways to see our improvement, say tangiblising the intangible. If you are not keeping a gratitude journal yet, perhaps it is worth it to try and record good things somewhere and see if you are happy with your day at least once a week, then go from there. Whatever comes in 2020 will only be the results of all that you have been working on in 2019, so brace yourselves for the best! It is such a long conversation but its flow is just natural and I love it, so thank you Jess for joining me! Our senses of sarcasm are different but I really enjoyed having this conversation and I learned a lot from you. To my listeners: if you are listening in real time and are celebrating Lunar New Year, I hope this can help you re-evaluate your 2019 and set new goals for 2020. Whatever it is that you had to cope with in 2019, I hope it is a bit easier now to cope with. Please know that whatever you have been working on will go somewhere in 2020, and this will be the best year yet, for each year is only getting better. Recorded live in Carlton, Melbourne VIC, Australia 3010 on Thursday 5 December 2019. As this is the last conversation to be shared by The Glocals in 2019, I hope that it leaves a strong impact on how we as a society are supporting things and people, and I hope that stuff that matters will remain/become the key of focus in our daily lives. I am so grateful to my bestie Kimmy for introducing me to her stepsister Eva, who is an absolute gem to this world. She prepared dot points for a conversation with me cause she took this really seriously, and I really appreciate how much she was for this idea of sharing knowledge and curating empathy globally. We gave a lot of shoutouts in this convo and I just love how the people in our lives help put things into perspective for us. Personally, I don't know Eva very well but I guess I know enough, and I did learn so much more about her and about Australia through this convo. Our differences in terms of speaking up and my personal reflections thanks to our discussion taught me a lot about different personas and how I need to actually woman up and just say what needs to be said. Going further from there to what has been happening here, while learning about how the Australian Government has been approaching refugees in different aspects, my heart broke a little for the people struggling with no certainty and no safety out there. Being from another country myself, I do realise how lucky I am to have a roof over my head and all I need to have a comfortable life in Australia while others out there just desperately need the basics to survive. And I just adore how Eva uses social media for both fun and good by speaking up against injustices and raise awareness about what can be done to help, so I am learning from her and I hope you are too. https://www.facebook.com/j4r.au/ is Justice for Refugees FB page, so please give it a look if you care about the struggling refugees and want to help in any way you can. At the end, we did wanna go into something fun and Eva really wanted to talk about sex, which I'm 100% down for, so Eva please come back and we'll have a whole talk on that, or if not for this poddy then just with me! On a more serious note, Eva's overall message to the world after this convo is "If we have the privilege to be able to speak up, we should step up, even in everyday conversations.", and I believe in its power simply because it actually aligns with what The Glocals is all about. I am in awe of where the podcast itself is heading and how these conversations are shaping me, so thank you so so much to everyone who has agreed to join me on this little journey of my life, and thank you to Eva for our fantastic time. You can find Eva on Facebook at Eva Jordens and Instagram @eva.jordens. Get to know her and learn more about how you can help refugees + heaps of other people in need. May the new Decade be filled with meaningful convos like this and may The Glocals bring the world what it needs to be a better place with better humans.
