Christmas Eve Stakes and a Narrow Path The Detroit Lions fly to Minneapolis with a slim, real path. Win at the Vikings on Christmas. Win at the Bears in Chicago. Hope the Packers lose out. That is the math. It is not pretty, but it exists. The other motivator is pride. Going from the best record in the NFC last year to the basement in the NFC North will not sit well with Dan Campbell or his locker room. The Lions are favored. They should play like a team with playoff vitality. Context matters in December in the NFL. Detroit needs urgency and clean execution. The margin is small. The opponent is wounded, not harmless. Vikings Quarterback Shuffle: Max Brosmer Time Minnesota ruled out JJ McCarthy on Tuesday afternoon. A hairline fracture in his hand ends his season. In comes Max Brosmer. He is an undrafted rookie with one start and mop-up reps. He has an arm and workable accuracy. He lost to the Seahawks, which happens to many. He is not Aaron Rodgers or Matthew Stafford. He is not even a fully healthy Jordan Love. That is a reprieve for a Detroit defense that has seen a run of top quarterbacks. The Vikings are battered elsewhere. Christian Darrisaw, their left tackle, is out. They have shut players down after elimination, similar to how the Lions just shut down Kirby Joseph. The depth chart is thin, but the skill talent around Brosmer still gives structure. Detroit must turn those absences into pressure and turnovers. A Defense That Hasn't Allowed a Passing TD in Six Games Here is the problem for the Lions offense. The Vikings have not allowed a passing touchdown in six straight games. That is the first time a team has done it since the 1989 Browns. This is a legit unit. They blitzed the Lions to great effect in the first meeting. They hammered the A gap. They made life hard for Jared Goff. Detroit's passing game has been inconsistent. Goff has been pretty good, but the interior pass protection must be better. Answers versus the A-gap pressure are non-negotiable. Quick decisions. Firm guards and center. Defined hot routes. Detroit Lions Podcast coverage this week centers on interior protection, blitz answers, and a battered Vikings offense. If the Lions cannot block inside, points will be scarce again. What It Means in Minneapolis and Beyond This sets up a grind. Expect Detroit to lean on pass rush against a backup left tackle and an inexperienced quarterback. Expect Minnesota to heat up Goff and test Detroit's A-gap integrity. Field position matters. So do red zone calls when passing touchdowns are hard to find. Win, and the Lions keep the playoff thread intact and roll into Chicago with purpose. Lose, and last place looms. The formula is simple. Protect the pocket inside. Tackle after the catch. Finish drives with touchdowns. It is Christmas in the NFL. Style points can wait. The Lions need a road win to keep the season alive. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H7n9Z9vYgPU #detroitlions #lions #detroitlionspodcast #a-gappressure #interiorpassprotection #jaredgoff #maxbrosmer #jjmccarthy #christiandarrisaw #backuplefttackle #undraftedrookie #sixstraightgames #passingtouchdown Learn more about your ad choices. Former NFL safety Glover Quin joins Neil Haley to share his incredible journey from basketball player to 10-year NFL veteran who intercepted some of the game's greatest quarterbacks. Glover reveals he actually quit football after eighth grade to focus on varsity basketball as a freshman, but walked into the gym on the first day of school, saw it was empty while his friends were at football practice, and made a spontaneous decision that changed his life. He discusses what it means to be "that guy" since third grade, explaining that reaching the highest levels requires both talent and work ethic - you can't teach a 4.2 forty-yard dash speed, but you can perfect skills through relentless preparation. Glover emphasizes that NFL players don't retire because of Sundays - they retire because of the grueling Monday through Saturday preparation, training, and film study.Glover shares memorable moments from his career, including interceptions against Drew Brees (twice), Peyton Manning, Aaron Rodgers, Philip Rivers, and Matt Ryan, explaining how the game situation made each pick meaningful beyond just the quarterback's name. He reveals his intentional approach to retirement - he only wanted to play exactly 10 years and walked off the field after a 31-0 win against Green Bay in 2018, having started 148 consecutive games over nine and a half seasons. Now focused on being a dedicated father to three athletic sons and running his custom framing business, Glover also co-hosts the "Believe in Lions" podcast with Jack Cavanaugh. He breaks down the Detroit Lions' playoff chances, analyzes the NFC North competition, and explains why he believes Detroit has the talent, coaching, and defense to finally win their division if the offensive line stays healthy.

The NFL Playoff Picture is coming into full view but teams really muddy-ed the waters with the results of week 16 across the NFL. The Jacksonville Jaguars dropped their statement win of the season on the Denver Broncos and now about 5 different teams can win the AFC's #1 seed. Trevor Lawrence and Co showed they are a legit Super Bowl contending team. The New England Patriots rallied behind Drake Maye and knocked off the Baltimore Ravens to stay a game ahead of the Bills in the AFC East. The Pittsburgh Steelers held on to win a whacky game in Detroit, earning our Hemingway moniker but today DK Metcalf found out that he will be suspended for the final two games of the 2025 NFL season. The Chargers, Texans and Bills all won over teams already eliminated so they could keep pace in the playoff race. And in the NFC, the Eagles took care of the Commanders on Saturday afternoon to feel better about their chances in the playoffs. The Bears had a miraculous comeback against the Packers to further solidify their claim to the NFC North throne. And the fellas breakdown the wild NFC South, a division that both teams, the Panthers and Buccaneers, both seemingly don't want to win. It's time to sprint through the finish line... kinda. Andy, Brendan!, Kevin Van Valkenburg, and PJ return for what may be the final installment of 2025's Year in Review, spanning from the Travelers Championship through Scottie Scheffler's win at The Open. Before the five-event recap begins, Andy is given ample time to celebrate a Victory Sunday (and Monday!) following the biggest Bears win in years on Saturday night. He talks plenty of smack about a Packers team that the Bears may see again in a playoff game very soon and anoints Caleb Williams as the best quarterback in the NFC North. Fear not, as there is a Nico Echavarria Minute to even things out later in this episode! Part 9 of The 2025 Year in Review begins with KVV handling the Travelers Championship, which was a triumphant week for his man Keegan Bradley and yet another collapse by Tommy Fleetwood. Brian Rolapp also burst on the scene with the official news of his hire as the PGA Tour's new CEO. Brendan picks things up at the Rocket Classic where podcast favorite Aldrich Potgieter won a never-ending playoff at a bomber's paradise in Detroit. LIV Dallas also ended in a playoff, won by Patrick Reed, but Bryson DeChambeau managed to be the star of the show anyway at his hometown event. The John Deere Classic featured another playoff at the end, but PJ instead focuses on a group of "olds" complaining about equity stakes in PGA Tour Enterprises as the biggest news of the week. Patrick Roy's son, Kevin, also provided what may be this podcast's Tweet of the Year! Andy then slips in a "Nico Minute" while discussing Chris Gotterup's breakout win at the Scottish Open. He also shares some enlightening quotes from Scottie Scheffler on links golf and Rory McIlroy's public detonation of PGA Frisco. The Open Championship is a team effort, with KVV handling the pre-tournament days of "Nihilist Scottie" and yet another newsworthy caddie-player breakup. Andy researches Thursday and Friday in Portrush, reminding folks of some early leaders like Jacob Skov Olesen and other Storylines Nobody's Talking About from that week. Remember when Matthew Jordan defeated par? Finally, Brendan brings us home as he walks through Scottie Scheffler's coronation and an emotional weekend for Rory McIlroy in his home country. That'll do it for Andy and Brendan on the feed in 2025, but "The Boys" have been tasked with giving Mr. 1,000 his just due after the powers that be decided to end their 2025 Year in Review at Royal Portrush.

The Packers had a 99% win probability with just over two minutes remaining—and lost. In one of the most gut-wrenching collapses in recent memory, Green Bay dominated the Bears for four quarters, only to watch it all slip away on a botched onside kick recovery and a fourth-down fumble in overtime. This is the fifth most improbable win in the Next Gen Stats era. Malik Willis was nothing short of spectacular in relief of an injured Jordan Love, going 9-of-11 for 121 yards with a touchdown and a 142.8 passer rating. Emmanuel Wilson gashed the Bears defense for 82 yards on 14 carries, and Josh Jacobs gutted through obvious pain to keep fighting. Jeff Hafley's defense held Chicago's offense in check for nearly the entire game—the Bears simply could not move the ball. But none of it mattered. A Romeo Dobbs onside kick disaster, a Warren Brinson face mask penalty, and a crushing overtime fumble erased everything. The Bears now sit at 76% to win the NFC North while the Packers drop to 15%. With injuries piling up at every position, we break down what went wrong, hand out game balls to the guys who deserved better, and take your calls as the fan base processes yet another miracle going against us. The Packers head into Saturday's frigid showdown against Chicago with 18 players on the injury report—and Vegas has officially made them underdogs. But this isn't the time for pouting or placing emotional hedge bets against your own team. This game day episode breaks down everything you need to know heading into the NFC North battle: the full injury report with Rob Demovsky's insider intel on Zach Tom, Evan Williams, and Josh Jacobs; the brutal weather conditions with wind chills in single digits; and why the betting line has swung dramatically toward Chicago despite losing Luther Burden and Roma Odunze. We dive into Jeff Hafley's defensive adjustments without Micah Parsons, the strategic shift to compress the pocket against Caleb Williams, and why Jordan Love's previous dominant performance against this Bears defense should give fans hope. Plus, callers weigh in on managing expectations, and we have some fun with the Bears' potential relocation to Gary, Indiana. This is championship football weather. Time to show up. The callers brought the fire tonight. With the Micah Parsons injury still fresh, Packer Nation called in not to mourn but to rally. This might be the most fired-up After Dark episode of the season. Randy from Minnesota dropped a Thomas Paine quote from 1776 that stopped the show cold: "These are the times that try men's souls. The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of their country." The parallels to fair weather Packers fans hit hard. Kyle from Madison made the case for Jeff Hafley to unleash an entirely new aggressive defensive scheme against Chicago since the Bears have zero tape on a Parsons-less defense. Beer Cheese Bane and Chris from Alabama delivered passionate speeches about why this team still has everything it needs to make a run. The conversation also covered Matt LaFleur's substitution patterns, why quarterbacks keep having career games against Green Bay, and the reality that Saturday's Bears game is essentially a playoff game for the NFC North title. If the Packers win, they're back in the driver's seat with the easier remaining schedule. Time to lock in. This episode is brought to you by PrizePicks! Chris and the fellas get deep with the NFL Week 16 previews. A great slate this weekend with both Saturday and Sunday games has us stoked for the playoff race! The Bears and Packers do battle to claim the NFC North with only a few games to play. Will Caleb Williams or Jordan Love lead their team to victory? In the NFC South, the Panthers and Buccaneers scrape for their own divisional lead. The Jaguars and Broncos meet with the Broncos needing a win to keep their lead in the race for the AFC's #1 seed. The Steelers and Lions meet with the loser having their playoff hopes take a huge hit and you know Dan Campbell will do anything to stop that from happening to Detroit. The Ravens need a win over the Patriots to remain in the AFC's playoff race and it could be a battle between QBs (Lamar Jackson and Drake Maye) that we'll see for years to come. We're also keeping an eye on the Chiefs to see how they compete without Patrick Mahomes and the Browns solely for the Sack Watch of Myles Garrett. We finish with a couple game previews that were lost in the Bermuda Triangle and our Thursday Night Time Machine.
