The Center for Immigration Studies hosted a panel discussion examining how immigration is used as a political, economic, and strategic tool by governments, non-state, and sub-state actors worldwide. Whether through mass migration crises, policy-driven border surges, or the manipulation of refugee flows, immigration has become a powerful geopolitical weapon and a means of waging hybrid warfare. Examples have included Cuba's use of the Mariel boatlift in 1980 or the more recent efforts by Belarus to coordinate illegal immigration to the EU.This panel explored the concept of immigration warfare – how immigration is leveraged to gain political leverage; influence legislation, elections, and the economy; shape public opinion; and even destabilize a country. Discussion also covered how nations can respond to this growing challenge. The discussion is an activity of the International Network for Immigration Research (INIR), a collaboration among independent policy organizations on three continents sharing the perspective that each sovereign nation has the right to pursue its chosen immigration policies.Mark Krikorian, the Center's executive director and host of Parsing Immigration Policy, moderates this rebroadcast of the Center's panel.HostMark Krikorian is the Executive Director of the Center for Immigration Studies.GuestsViktor Marsai is the Director of the Migration Research Institute in Budapest.Phillip Linderman is a Retired senior Foreign Service officer from the State Department and a Board Member of the Center for Immigration Studies.Eric Ruark is the Director of Research of Numbers USA.RelatedPanel Press ReleasePanel VideoPanel TranscriptC-Span CoverageIntro MontageVoices in the opening montage:Sen. Walz touted a failed Senate border bill mandating the processing of 1,400 illegal aliens each day, a bill that would have codified the Biden-Harris border policies, which have resulted in the largest spike in illegal immigration in history. When Kamala Harris was asked on the Oprah Winfrey infomercial whether she would secure the border if elected as president, she said two things. As California Attorney General, she prosecuted transnational groups for the trafficking of guns, drugs, and human beings. As Vice President, she advocated for the passage of the Biden Border Bill which would have placed 1,500 additional Border Patrol agents on the ground. She sounds like a Republican, as she moves center to appeal to law-and-order Americans. But, as Jeremy Beck, Vice President of Initiatives for NumbersUSA.com, points out in his appearance with guest host Adam McManus, Kamala, the designated Border Czar, certainly hasn't lifted a finger for the last four years to stem the tide of transnational groups who have been trafficking copious amounts of guns, drugs, and human beings across our southern border. Secondly, the reason why common sense prevailed in regards to the defeat of Biden's sham of a border bill, is that it would have, for the first time, actually mandated a minimum number of 500,000 illegal aliens to be given admittance into America. Plus, the 1,500 additional Border Patrol agents would not have been tasked with preventing illegals from crossing our southern border, but with facilitating their illegal entrance across the border. This program includes: 1. The World View in 5 Minutes with Adam McManus (Chuck Swindoll, 90, retires from pulpit ministry; Hurricane Helene kills 89 people, causes $15 billion of damage; Faith & Freedom Coalition to raise $62M to mobilize Christian vote) 2.
