Tonebenders was able to do an episode with every sound team, that has been nominated in the Best Sound category, at this years Oscars. So with the award show only a few days away, this week we are going to take listen to a selection of each interview, to try to get an idea of what was done on each film, to lead to it's nomination. First up we will hear from Paul Massey, Ted Caplan and Don Sylvester from A Complete Unknown. That is followed by Hortense Bailly, Cyril Holtz, Aymeric Devoldère & Carolina Santana from Emilia Perez. Jack Dolman, Nancy Nugent Title & John Marquis speak about their work on Wicked. The only animated film nominated, The Wild Robot, is represented by Gary Rizzo, Brian Chumney, Randy Thom & Leff Lefferts. The final sound team I talk to is from Dune Part 2, with Richard King, Doug Hemphill and Ron Bartlett. What a line up on this episode! Tonebenders ran episodes with members of the sound teams of all five nominees in the "Best Achievement In Sound" category at this year's Oscars. So here are some of our favourite clips from each interview. Plus a few un-aired minutes from the Oppenheimer interview that we saved for this episode. Starting with James Mather talking about the epic Fiat car chase scene in Mission Impossible:Dead Reckoning Pt 1. Then Richard King talks about the immense research the team did to get the sounds correct on Oppenheimer. Next is Tom Ozanich explaining his approach to making the huge climatic orchestra scene work emotionally. After that is Erik Aadahl discussing how explosions can't just go "boom" they have to reflect the plot when they happen in the story. Finally we have Johnnie Burn explaining how the two films he worked on last year, Zone Of Interest & Poor Things, intersected with each other. Welcome to Episode 178!  It's the queer superbowl, y'all!! If you know anything about Casey & Mark, you know they love an entertainment, including films and the height of awards season is upon us.  So hold off on completing you ballots for the Oscars until you've sat down with your GBFs to get all the tea and answers to the test!As you probably know, the 94th Annual Academy Awards, aka Oscars, are coming right up and you're filling out your ballots for your Oscars pool with coworkers, family, friends, and the like.  You can rely on your gay besties to give you all the answers to the ballot so you win that pool.  This weekend are the Oscars and The Boys have been at work watching the nominated work on the screens and reporting to you on their thoughts in their expectations, yes (read Oscar pool winning), but also the deserved winners.  Oh, and what would it be if they didn't include some snubbery??  Kicking things off, The Boys are getting education after Mark has some health testing done and giving you the rundown of what it is and what to expect when you have to have it done. (Nothing if not educational!)  Then it's on to Trash Talk, where this week Mark & Casey are hitting up the latest lawsuit filed against Andy Cohen and Bravo seeking to document what Kathy Griffin (akak KG) told us over 8 years ago and a Willy Wonka nightmare in Scotland.  Oh yes -- there are Oscar related recommendations too! This one's a goodie chocked full of information, educational and otherwise.  So grab your Oscar pool ballot, a number 2 pencil. Fill up a glass of your favorite port vintage, and pull up a seat to the table with your GFFs,  It's the Gay Super Bowl, kids, and it's time to paint!=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-Let The Boys of Painted Trash know your thoughts on this week's topics and episode! What street festivals do you attend? Do you like street fests? What is your favorite festival??Have a topic idea or story you recommend for Trash Talk, be sure to send it in to our email or through the "contact us" on our website.Follow us on:Instagram: instragram.com/paintedtrashpodTwitter: twitter.com/paintedtrashpodFacebook: facebookcom/paintedtrashpodcastDon't forget to click Subscribe and/or Follow and leave us a review!email: paintedtrashpodcast@gmail.comweb: www.paintedtrashpodcast.com

So we begin with Best Picture and work backwards all the way to our thoughts on Jimmy Kimmel’s monologue. Find out which of the Mikes won the Oscar Pool. Listen to us riff on the moments we loved and yes, hated from the big night. Is putting together a perfect Oscar ballot really all in the numbers? On the inaugural episode of 'TIFF Long Take', Rob and Geoff sit down with Walt Hickey, FiveThirtyEight.com's Chief Culture Writer, to find out how you can use data to predict the winners on Sunday night. The three discuss the data model that Walt has built to find the probable winners (3:55), why the Golden Globes aren't a great indicator of Oscar success (6:45), why 'La La Land' is a shoe in for Best Picture (10:35), what categories are primed for an upset (17:00), and why an Oscar nomination doesn't always translate to box office success (23:40).
