Tony shares some sad news about the loss of his friend and colleague, Shawna Roberts. She was the one who introduced him to today's guest, Craig Perra. Craig is the creator of The Mindful Habit System https://www.themindfulhabit.com/, a life-changing approach that has helped countless people build healthier relationships, develop healthy sexuality, and finally live the lives they've always wanted but thought were out of reach. Craig opens up about his own battles with addiction, particularly compulsive pornography and sexual behavior, and his road to recovery that led him to create The Mindful Habit System. Tony's a big fan of this approach because it focuses on building strength rather than simply treating disease, and it's inspired him to create his own program, The Path Back. The main theme of the episode is how we can get stuck in negative behaviors and see ourselves in a bad light and how shame and conditioning can affect addiction and relationships. Both Tony and Craig emphasize that it's crucial to understand and accept all parts of ourselves with compassion instead of being hard on ourselves. They also chat about the benefits of integrating coaching into therapy, which helps therapists and clients build stronger relationships and achieve better results. They touch on the importance of valuing ourselves from within and helping people realize their own potential rather than relying on external validation. Tony and Craig also share their unique experiences on reality shows about digital addiction and porn, giving them an insight that they wouldn't otherwise have. Craig remembers Shawna and the work they did together for the LDS community to help with porn addiction. To wrap up, they reflect on how far they've come, the impact of The Path Back program, and their plans for the future, including the exciting possibility of therapist coaching. The chat gives listeners a deep understanding of how a strength-based approach to recovery, the role of internal family systems therapy, and self-perception are key to healing and personal growth. No one is perfect. Not even our parents. And that is a great thing to remember when you evaluate the sex education your parents passed onto you. This week, Creed and Crishelle talk with Vauna Davis about how you can take your experience learning (or not) about sex from your parents and move beyond any embarassment or shame you may have inherited. In this episode: There is no “one size fits all” for sex education. Conversations about pornography and sex are awkward for your parents, too. Your parents did the best they could, and they care for you. Forgiving your parents frees you to let go of the past and create the open, loving relationships you want. Sex education empowers and arms children to deal with pornography in a digital age. Just days before leaving on his mission, this young man shares his experience in overcoming his years of addiction to pornography. He explains that having a pornography addiction is like climbing out of a mud pit. If there isn’t a hand there to pull you out, then you just sink back in. This young man discusses how the adversary led him to think that people would treat him with anger, but instead they treated him with love. His Stake President and Bishop reminded him how much Heavenly Father and the Savior loved him and that he was still a good person regardless of the addiction. His struggles really taught him about the power of the atonement and that God really knows us. The best form of recovery is prevention. If you are already stuck, then get help as soon as you can. James can not express enough his gratitude to his Savior for being with him throughout this journey. James attributes Men of Moroni for teaching him the importance of learning about the God given traits of providing, protecting, and presiding. These qualities have shown him that he truly is capable in every way of being an amazing man of God. You are worth the blessings of the Savior! The military teaches us that we need to always see what is going on and see where we are at in every circumstance. Being able to assess our surroundings gives us greater power to fight the adversary and to keep him off of our battlefield. This is key to winning battles. General Karlus talks about understanding where we are and what we are doing based on the plan of salvation. Understanding and focusing on the plan of salvation is what keeps him from falling into paths of darkness. It is so easy to slip onto the negative road of life. When we stray from our chosen path, it gives the adversary power and he uses his subtle lies to distance us from the Savior. The truth that Satan hides is that the Lord is able to change who we are becoming even during the worst times. The Lord is our support and He will make that difference for each of us if we learn to turn to Him for help. Who we are becoming spiritually is what will bring us our greatest joy. We can find happiness in our life now, even during the struggle. First Recorded June 16, 2017. For more recovery tools, resources & healing go to: LifeChangingServices.org | 1-877-HERO-877

They would go through cycles where Cindy would catch Luke and then he would commit to stop and then she would catch him again and the cycle continued for years. Back then he didn't think it was a bad thing, he just thought he needed to stop because Cindy would get mad. She blamed herself for years and kept it secret because she felt ashamed. Cindy talks about the importance of taking care of herself and realizing that policing her husband was not going to solve anything. Even though it was Luke who had the addiction, they each were fighting the adversary on their own separate battlefield. Praying together even when the days were hard was one of the biggest tools that helped them stay unified in their battle. Fighting together is STRENGTH - fighting against each other is WEAKNESS. Roslyn always wanted to grow up, get married, and have a happy home. After only 3 years of marriage she discovered that something was amiss. She blamed herself for the issues in her marriage and attended counseling. This went on for 27 years of marriage before she discovered that her husband had been hiding a pornography addiction. The pornography had affected his personality to the point that the husband of her youth turned into someone that was cruel and intimidating. After seeking professional advice she made the decision to ask her husband to move out because of the negative influence he was having on her and their seven children. When he left, she felt as though a dark cloud of despair was being lifted. An unforeseen tragedy took her husband's life and left Roslyn a widow. Her hope for reconciliation vanished. She never dreamed that this would be her trial. As a result of the lessons that she learned during this difficult time, Roslyn can now teach us how she rediscovered her value as a person. She went from being a victim to a valiant servant of her Heavenly Father. Eternal Warriors helped her to recognize the good that she was doing everyday and has helped her to embrace her role as a woman and a mother. Has been through the fire and desires to provide hope and help to those who fight the same battles. At 10yrs old while on the computer he got curious, clicked on Pop-Up Ads and got "hooked." Jason teaches us how each one of us has different journeys in our lives and that our trials prepare us for our journeys. The lessons that we learn from our trials help us to then help others as they navigate their unique paths in life. Jason learned that it is more important to please God than to please others. God is always there and He knows us personally. Jason talks about coming to this realization and the struggle he had to put aside what others thought of him and to do the right thing regardless of the potential embarrassment. He was in the MTC for only 10 days and decided to confess to having an addiction to pornography, desired help to overcome this addiction and to repent, so he returned home. He came home to parents with open arms and leaders who were very loving and helped him move forward with his goal to become clean and return to serve, what he calls, "honorably." He has been addicted to masterbation and occasionally pornography too since he was 15yrs old and didn't realize he was out of control until he could no longer feel the Spirit in his life. He found the Men of Moroni website and chose to call the number and started going to the meetings! He thought he was the only one with the same problem, but quickly found out that others struggle with the same addictions, he found brotherhood and healing as he continued in the program. He has now been clean for 157 days since he started the program! He says when he has he wants to be with his kids, when he didn’t have the spirit and was not in recovery, he didn’t want to be around them so they wouldn’t draw on the negative energy he had. Loves football and basketball and the oldest of 8 kids, all of which were home schooled. Wanted to share his strength with others about how to overcome an addiction to masterbation and pornography. First exposed at a boy scout leadership training camp and his curiosity increased into an addiction that he could not control. He didn't have a device or smart phone and his family didn't have many devices at home either, so his addiction was fueled by access to books and he started hiding those kinds of books throughout the house. One of his books was found and brought to his attention by his dad and was grateful because he was trying to figure out how to stop on his own but realized he couldn't do it on his own so he was glad he got caught. Then after speaking with his dad about it, he was able to get help from his Bishop, whom he thought was easier to talk to than his dad. Was shy about talking to others at first but still willing to try the group setting from the Sons of Helaman Program, and there he found no shame but a strength. As he has been doing his MANPWR goals, winning battles over his bodily appetites and speaking about it, his confidence has increased and he has been able to feel the spirit more and the love of the Lord more and more in his life. Tools he uses to overcome his temptations are: a Battle Buddy who strengthens him, completes MANPWR Goals daily, reviews Captain's Log Questions & has a Personal Warrior Trainer who can hold him accountable. “Can adult men really gain mastery over sexual (pornography) addiction? Can marriages recover from severe betrayal trauma?” Luke & Alana, leaders and coordinators of Men of Moroni, our self-mastery training program for men, share their story of a 15yr marriage. Alana pregnant with their 5th child, found pornography on her husband's phone 7yrs after the first discovery. 7yrs ago they took a trip to their bishop and attended a few addiction recovery meetings but that was not enough to keep Luke from acting out down the road. The recent discovery led to a whole lot more disclosures from Luke, Luke living in a hotel to find his own way to recovery, and Alana finding healing on her own through the Atonement of Christ, while raising their 4 kids alone and pregnant. After finding the WORTH Group & Men of Moroni from Life Changing Services, they continued to learn more tools to first help heal themselves and then their marriage. Though their marriage was shattered by addiction, it was able to heal through the Atonement of Jesus Christ. He started with feelings of isolation, separation from family and friends and then struggled with feelings of suicide. She and her husband were desperate to find anything that would help, her husband found an article of the Sons of Helaman program from LCS. Her son was skeptical but she was able to successfully "drag" her son there and for the first time he realized he was not alone, and was able to see that he was and still is a son of God, a spiritual giant.
