Lord have mercy, Sporting KC won an MLS match, and looked largely competent in doing so! It's been a minute since we've had the opportunity to analyze a victory so apologies if we are a bit out of practice. Drew and Cody break down a fairly comprehensive performance by SKC in Seattle, by far the most complete performance of the year by the club so far. Lots of love for the spacing and movement in the midfield, as well as a very positive performance by Jake Davis at right back. The team looks much more like the one we have become accustomed to watching, and we are hopeful this is the beginning of a string of performances of that ilk. A discussion around Felipe Hernandez, his fit with this club, and what his abilities are and whether this is the best place for them to be effectively used. We both think he has value, but perhaps that value is misread slightly. Do Coaches really matter? His nickname isn't "JFR" for no reason, it's earned. The Sporting KC captain is passionate & fiery. He knows his teammates, coaches, and the fans, all expect this from him. We sat down with Johnny Russell this week to talk about that passion, a frustrating season, and of course... cars. The 32-year-old Scotsman had just got off the treatment table after getting some work done for an "ongoing hamstring problem". But that kind of work is common and he says it's nothing that's holding him back right now. I'd make sure to get the most out of the incredible facilities at Pinnacle as I could, as well. We asked Johnny if he feels like SKC is headed in the right direction after showing signs of life in the 2-2 draw with FC Dallas. "We haven't reached the standards we set last year," he says. "We know that ourselves." Russell is well aware he just hit #5 on Sporting KC's all-time scoring leader charts. He even says he's set "targets" for himself, the first of which was his friend Mo Johnston. Johnny plans to keep climbing the ranks in KC with an eye on Preki at the top. With Alan Pulido out, he's taken over penalty kick duties. He gives us some cool insight into reading keepers and his PK tactics. A few weeks ago after a match, Russell went into the stands and confronted a fan. But after scoring last week, he celebrated in that very spot and once again made peace after the match. "JFR" says he heard some things he didn't like that were directed at his teammates. Things that went beyond criticism, which he says they deserved that night. "I didn't like it. I lost my cool in that moment." We also reminisce about other times he fiercely defended his teammates. Remember the Vancouver Whitecaps getting double red cards? Without Gadi Kinda and a #10, Peter Vermes says the front line has slowly been learning to adapt to a different look in the midfield. Johnny tells how he and Daniel Salloi are working to find space in the final third and create chances. Finally, we get to one of Johnny Russell's favorite things about the US. American muscle cars. We Reflect Back on Sac FC Winning the 2014, USL Pro Championship.Emrah Klimenta, James Kiffe and Gabe Gisse are on the squad still but not a lot has changed with the grit and style of play that coach Preki and Rodrigo Lopez and the front office instilled in the team.We take you back to the game and enjoy remembering the Miracle at Bonney Field. We hope that a win for the ages will happen again, here in Sacramento. It certainly would not hurt their MLS expansion plans.

Well perhaps, as the lads have given some time to let the dust settle, but seeing as it's TFC and MLSE, the dust never really settles. So we go at it - it's the 2010 season in review that ends up being just as much 'the month in review' as well as what Herr Klinsmann will possibly bring to the table. What would be a discussion about TFC without some serious head-shaking about owners, the path this season took under Preki, his eventual sacking and the players that made a forgettable year at least something to look forward to moving forward. Tim is in full bashing mode, Stephe has his talking points written out on seven pages, and Spark watches it all unfold. It's the last pod of 2010 and it won't be long until 2011 so hang tight we'll return in March!

Yesterday's action saw newcomers to the competition Tottenham battle out a 2-2 draw with Werder Bremen; in the same group, defending champions Inter Milan drew with the same scoreline away to FC Twente. Barcelona showed their credentials for recapturing the Champions League trophy with a 5-1 demolition of Panathinaikos, with a possession percentage of a remarkable 74%. The so-called 'Battle of Britain' bored everyone with a 0-0 draw where Rangers went to Old Trafford with their mind set on defeat but came away from Manchester with a point. Other results: Benfica 2-0 Hapoel Tel Aviv; Lyon 1-0 Shalke; Bursaspor 0-4 Valencia; FC Copenhagen 1-0 Rubin Kazan. Today brings the second half of Matchday 1 where the likes of AC Milan, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Chelsea, and Arsenal get their Champions League campaigns running. Steven and Kenny will give a rundown on yesterday's action and preview today's match-ups as well. Phil Ball from ESPN Soccernet will join us to discuss Valencia's and Barcelona's mathces yesterday and preview Real Madrid's match today. We will get the thoughts of Mark Ogden from the Telegraph on the match at Old Trafford last night between Manchester United and Rangers. Nigel Reed from CBC Sports will join us to discuss the firing of Preki and Mo Johnston at Toronto FC and what it means for the club.

Well that's that. No more Mo. No more Preki. The writing was on the wall for Mo for quite a while and Preki did himself no favours from the get go. It's an EMERGENCY podcast - no post-game, just Spark and Tim hashing out Mo's tenure and Preki's short term relationship with the club. Jeez, it feels like we just went through this!.

Another home game. Another draw. Another performance that just wasn't good enough. It's hard to fault any of the players for their effort, as every one worked hard and played with energy. Ultimately, this game provided a good comparison between a Real Salt Lake squad that looks to be a genuine MLS contender and a TFC squad that is still a little short on talent. Toronto generated chances and worked very hard, but never really threatened to score. And again and again the touch of the majority of the TFC players was off just enough prevent the team from finding a breakthrough goal. While the starting eleven played a solid but unspectacular game in earning a draw against one of the best teams in the league, the substitutes that came on in the second half both delivered subpar performances that had to disappoint Preki.
