ONCE UPON A GENE - EPISODE 240 A Mother's Mission - Project Baby Lion, ASO Therapy and the TNP02 Foundation with Yiwei She Yiwei She is a powerhouse mom to little Leo, the Founder of the TNP02 Foundation, a remarkable and brilliant advocate, and she's nothing short of extraordinary.  EPISODE HIGHLIGHTS Can you tell us about Leo's diagnostic journey and how that inspired you to start the TNP02 Foundation? Leo's head circumference wasn't what it should have been and then he had a seizure at two months old. Sequencing pointed to a mutation in a gene and we hit the ground running right away, tapping into our scientific backgrounds. At first, our world came crashing down, but we also had a very fortunate set of circumstances where we could maybe change Leo's outcome if we did the right things. We were thrown into the deep end, but we looked to others and learned a lot from the people who had already paved the way. What is the process for developing an ASO therapy and how do you make the connections to launch it? We had a friend that was in the biotech industry which proved to be a key link for us. We had other friends and parents that helped to connect us as well. Networking is really important because people can help guide you and advise on the best labs to work with.  Can you tell us about Project Baby Lion? The idea behind Project Baby Lion is to take what I've learned and do it again better, in a more sustainable and systematic way. The first phase is to do diagnostics better, combining sustainability with urgency, starting with NICU whole genome sequencing. We hope to prove with data, the potential sustainability of personalized therapeutics within the ultra-rare populations. As early as possible, we want to connect patients and families with their advocacy groups, and where there isn't yet a community, we will try to put together a rapid program to develop a therapeutic plan. What are the goals for Project Baby Lion and Leo's ASO therapy in the future? The most helpful thing to come from Leo's trial will be the sharing of the data and clinical protocol so other families and foundations have a blueprint and recognize that it's possible. We want to put our data where our mouth is and share it out to catalyze a culture of sharing. For Project Baby Lion, I hope to attract investment and interest from the biomedical industry because we can solve the hard problems for our kids, and they're worth it.  LINKS & RESOURCES MENTIONED TNP02 Foundation https://www.tnpo2.org/ Project Baby Lion https://www.tnpo2.org/project-baby-lion Learn More and Register for Week in RARE https://globalgenes.org/week-in-rare/ Creyon Bio https://creyonbio.com/ Charles River Laboratory https://www.criver.com/ Combined Brain https://combinedbrain.org/ CONNECT WITH EFFIE PARKS Website https://effieparks.com/ Twitter https://twitter.com/OnceUponAGene Instagram https://www.instagram.com/onceuponagene.podcast/?hl=en Built Ford Tough Facebook Group https://www.facebook.com/groups/1877643259173346/

I had to address this album, having a real relationship with both of these artists and having a song with B.G. That we recorded in 2004 is crazy to see the growth and elevation that he has had in the rap game since us doing this song is crazy. The shock drop to me was necessary for tha album to be a success and in the beginning of this album I was kinda harsh about how it was limited versatility until they switched it up half way through the album. The Fertile Mind: your thinking & your fertility

When you are struggling to conceive Project Baby can become all consuming. I talk a lot about focusing on Project You and when you do that Project Baby takes more care of itself. In this episode I share my own psychological journey that was the turning point in our own fertility story. Get in touch: www.thefertilemind.net russell@thefertilemind.net About the Show: I help women and couples remove psychological blocks to getting pregnant. Based on my and my wife's 10 year fertility journey and the work of my clients I believe too many couples have IVF unnecessarily and that the success rate of IVF is unnecessarily low. We can see how much our mind and emotions played a part in our fertility journey and when we found a place of peace without giving up that's when the magic happened - we conceived naturally against all odds. I help me clients do the same - remove psychological blocks to getting pregnant naturally or getting the successful IVF outcome they so want.  When I ask women what having a baby will give them they usually say a sense of completeness, love and purpose. It's our fear of not having these things, a fear of not being enough, worthy that tends to be behind our fear of not having a baby. These limiting beliefs have usually been around since an early age and infertility shines a spotlight on them. Many of my clients have strived for success in their life whether career or other things. That approach doesn't work for fertility. In fact it puts tension in the body which decreases their chances of success. The podcast is short does of insight, giving women and couples new perspectives that allows them to see their fertility from the ‘inside-out'. To see help them let go of their insecure thoughts and feelings and connect to their innate wellbeing that knows they are enough and OK whatever happens. This moves having a baby from being a 'need' to to a desire. It takes the pressure of the process and their mind and body relax into it's natural flow state. Stress can impact the delicate balance of hormones required for a successful pregnancy.

In January we are revisiting some the episodes from the archive. On our fertility journey each morning I would take my pile of enormous pills praying it was making a difference. I had also changed all my underwear, stopped keeping my phone in my pocket, was having acupuncture but had no idea if all this effort was going to make a difference to my fertility.  But I couldn't not do it. I'd have done anything if I thought it might help. This is how our fertility and Project Baby can become all-consuming. Kodak Black may be behind bars but he's still ruffling feathers in the free world. After starting beef with NBA Youngboy insinuating he is a snitch, the Project Baby is continuing to taunt the Baton Rouge, La. rhymer. On Sunday (April 5), Kodak made a new post on Instagram where he accuses NBA YoungBoy of being his clone and biting his style. I don't know who gave him access to his phone but he posted a series of photos, Kodak gives examples of the NBA doing something similar to him, whether it be rapping, dancing, or holding up the same hand sign. Kodak seems to have plenty of access to trending news stories because the snitching claim was made after there was an altercation at his home resulting in serious injury of his baby mama Lapattra Lashai Jacobs at the hands of Floyd Mayweather's daughter Lyanna. Apparently, Youngboy gave full cooperation to the authorities. The two women began a verbal altercation involving hair pulling, which turned physical when Mayweather allegedly retrieved two knives from the kitchen and stabbed Jacobs twice. So now we know why they are beefing but between these two artists who is the true victor? They are the top 2 of the best rappers in the game. They are the most listened to rappers in the streets and NBA was the most listened to artist on YouTube for the past few months. The dude had streaming numbers literally exceeding everyone else, which might make him the victor right there but Kodak can't keep up from prison so in this video we are gonna decide.

The Fertile Mind: your thinking & your fertility

The fertility journey can put a strain on the best of couples. How do you stay united and feel like a team when your partner is not as committed to Project Baby as you? How do you stay united when you can't agree on things or you have no idea what's going on in their head? Let's find out! Communication process for you to download I refer to in the episode: http://bit.ly/tfm-it-takes-two Get in touch: www.thefertilemind.net russell@thefertilemind.net About the Show: I help women and couples remove psychological blocks to getting pregnant. The Fertile Mind: your thinking & your fertility

The biggest cause of stress on the fertility journey is the fear of running out of time. The race against the body clock.  This fear can lead us to doing so much to try and improve our fertility and chances of getting pregnant but often this is trying to deal with the symptoms and not the cause.   In this episode we look further upstream from the symptoms and look at what may the be the cause of your difficulties in getting pregnant whether naturally or with IVF. Welcome back to another episode! Today’s podcast is kind of like a 2-for-1 which is a WIN-WIN in my book! The first 30 minutes is an intuitive free-flow message on the false sense of safety that CONTROL can give us, the power of deeper intentional surrender, navigating whether you’re creating/launching from ego vs your intuition, the intense pressure you can feel building in certain seasons of life that makes you want to “FIGURE IT OUT,” and unhooking from comparison to honor your energy & your capacity above all else. Then in a juicy conversation with my friend @autumnbensette, we riff on: How “Salt, Sage, & Wild Roses” came to be; Why we believe that this will be a game-changer for those who feel called to this space; The wild, divine timing of it all; Our values & vision for this space; What “Salt, Sage, & Wild Roses” MEANS; Why we call our community “The Watering Well;” WHY we decided on OILS & to partner with Young Living for this project; Our past network marketing trauma; How/why we plan to do this DIFFERENTLY in a way that feels really fcking good for everyone; How to join the community and what it’ll look like inside… When decided whether or not you want to join us inside the SALT, SAGE, & WILD ROSES watering well or you just want to hang with us here or on the pod, whether you want to incorporate oils into your life or whether you want to join without them… we encourage you to FEEL INTO this decision. Feel into the energy of our vision, the details of this space, and the frequency of the women we’re calling in. It won’t be a logical decision whether or not this is for you - we believe in the power of the resonance of the ENERGY & the way your body feels when you tune into this… trust THAT. ps. The Fertile Mind: your thinking & your fertility

Any insecurity in our mind hates the unknown. Another part of our mind doesn't like the idea of us being disappointed, let alone devastated, so doesn't want you to get your hopes up.  These fears lead to your mind coming up with all the ‘evidence' as to why you How had we come to this? The fertility roller-coaster and Project Baby taking over our lives can be such a passion killer! It felt like we were friends, not lovers. We knew we loved each other didn't feel particularly loved.
