Send us a textOver a long career in musical theatre, Matthew Seadon-Young has performed in some of the most acclaimed productions in recent history including Marianne Elliott's gender-swapped 'Company' and Jamie Lloyd's hit production of 'Urinetown'. His latest venture sees him playing con-man Gordy in the UK premiere of 'Shucked' at Regent's Park Open Air Theatre. In our interview, Matthew shares with us his excitement at making his Regent's Park debut and at the start of Drew McOnie's tenure as Artistic Director. 'Shucked' was a huge success on Broadway and audiences are eagerly anticipating the transfer of Brandy Clark and Shane McAnally's joyful musical. Jack O'Brien also makes his directorial debut at Regent's Park, and we hear Matthew talk about how the show has been adapted for the great outdoors. In this new interview with Matthew Seadon-Young, he shares his insight into the craft of carving out a career in musical theatre. Indeed since leaving Mountview, he's been seen in 'Les Miserables' and 'Billy Elliot' on the West End, 'Rockets and Blue Light' at the National Theatre and Manchester Royal Exchange as well as more recently 'The Baker's Wife' at the Menier Chocolate Factory. As an ever-evolving creative, it's been great seeing how he's continued to prove how versatile a performer he is. It will be interesting to see what productions he finds himself attached to in the future, but it seems certain that he will continue expanding his CV with new shows and revivals. As 'Shucked' prepares to open, Matthew sounds like he is in a good place and excited to keep finding new challenges.Shucked runs at Regent's Park Open Air Theatre from 10th May - 14 June.Support the show
Louise is an actress, writer, comedian and Mountview graduate who has worked across the West End and many comedy circuits across the country. She has worked extensively with Mischief Theatre company who are behind not only Magic Goes Wrong, but, The Play That Goes Wrong and Peter Pan goes Wrong among many other sketches. Some you may have seen on the Royal Variety and Comic Relief over the last few years. Louise discusses her love for comedy, how to keep it fresh for each performance and that each night is different. Every audience will react in a separate way, that is completely normal, and you shouldn't worry if a joke lands differently than it did the previous night. Comedy is so subjective and some people will find you funnier than others. Look out for some of our darker jokes later in the episode and how comedy can occur at any moment, even at the times you LEAST expect! I first saw Louise at the Criterion Theatre for a rehearsed reading one of Sarah Milton's newest plays “Pa(Rental)”. I encourage all actors both in or out of drama school to attend these events, not only to hear new writing but to network fellow actors in the business. These events are held by the Criterion Theatre throughout the year, keep an eye on their instagram page for more information. Full episode available in my bio! Absolute cider royalty comes to the pod this week as Justin and Albert are joined by Alison Taffs, head honcho at multi-award-winning might-as-well-keep-the-trophy cider pub The Hop Inn. We talk about Alison and Justin's shared background as drama students at Mountview, and how that armed them to become tasting host extraordinaires, we touch on managing alcohol intake when working in the drinks industry and Alison schools us on what makes good hospitality. Only momentarily distracted by Justin looking up directions to the Hop Inn on his phone, we learn how to build the ultimate cider list as a pub and how gaining confidence with tasting notes can help drinkers, producers and hospitality staff. Veel luisterplezier! jQuery(document).ready(function(){ cab.clickify(); }); Original Podcast with clickable words https://tinyurl.com/ybpwklmh End of Communion after Sunday Mass in Dublin. Deireadh le Comaoineach tar éis Aifreann an Domhnaigh i mBÁC. The Archdiocese of Dublin has advised parishes and priests not to bring Communion to parishioners after Sunday Mass. Tá comhairle curtha ag Ard-Deoise Bhaile Átha Cliath ar pharóistí agus ar shagairtí gan Comaoineach a thabhairt go lucht na bparóistí tar éis aifreann an Domhnaigh. It should not be done inside, or outside, the churches, the Archdiocese says. Ní chóir é a dhéanamh taobh istigh, ná taobh amuigh, de na séipéil, a deir an Ard-Deoise. This advice follows a decision by a parish in west Dublin to stop giving Communion to the people of the parish every Sunday. Tagann an chomhairle seo sna sála ar chinneadh paróiste in iarthar Bhaile Átha Cliath stop a chur le Comaoineach a thabhairt do mhuintir an pharóiste gach Domhnach. They made the decision on the advice of the Gardaí. Rinne siad an cinneadh ar chomhairle na nGardaí. “Under the restrictions currently in place”, the Archdiocese wrote in a statement today, “religious ceremonies are happening online. "Faoi na srianta atá i bhfeidhm faoi láthair", a scríobh an Ard- Deoise i ráiteas inniu, "tá searmanais reiligiúnacha ag tarlú ar líne. For health and safety reasons, therefore, priests should not give Communion to the public, inside or outside ". Ar chúiseanna sláinte agus sabháilteachta, mar sin, níor chóir do shagairt Comaoineamh a thabhairt don phobal, taobh istigh ná taobh amuigh". Father Binoy Mathew of Mountview and Blaketown Parish in Dublin 15 said that since November, parishioners have been watching mass online, and then coming to church in Huntstown afterwards. to take Communion. Dúirt an tAthair Binoy Mathew ó Pharóise Radharc an Chnocáin agus Bhaile an Bhlácaigh i mBÁC 15 gur ó mhí na Samhna i leith, go mbíodh muintir an pharóiste ag feachaint ar aifreann ar líne, agus ansin ag teacht chun an tséipéil i mBaile an Huntaigh ina dhiaidh chun Comaoineach a ghlacadh. He says the people of the parish will be disappointed by the Garda council and the Archdiocese of Dublin. Deir sé go gcuirfidh comhairle na nGardaí agus Ard-Deoise Bhaile Átha Cliath díomá ar mhuintir an pharóiste.

Whilst on lockdown, I have been mentoring five students from Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts here in London. The five of them are all getting their MA in Acting and should be doing their showcase performances about now, but I don’t need to tell you if that is happening…I have been talking to all of them this week for the podcast My final guest student this week is Pear Chiravara. Pear is a fascinating and fantastic actor, coming to the acting profession after her best friend suggested that she follow her dreams. So she left Bangkok to travel to sunnier climes to attend Mountview and get her MA.
My penultimate guest student this week is Nathan Elliot. Nathan is another one of Mountview’s students who didn’t have a straightforward route into drama school. But his tenacity and perseverance paid off, and I think stands him in good stead for the challenges he faces in the industry, especially in a Covid-19 world. Nathan Elliot, acting student on the Acting MA course at Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts. Keep listening this week to hear from more Mountview students that are continuing their course virtually in London and far, far beyond.
Whilst on lockdown, I have been mentoring five students from Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts here in London. The five of them are all getting their MA in Acting and should be doing their showcase performances about now, but I don’t need to tell you if that is happening… My second student guest from Mountview is Jessica Dawes. Jessica’s story is a fantastic untraditional route, having been interested in theatre from a young age, but feeling societal’s pressure to earn money in a “real job” before the tug of the theatre yanked her back in.
In this podcast Adam Robert Lewis talks with Niv Petel, Israeli born actor and voice over artist. Niv has worked extensively in Israel in all mediums. Niv gravitates towards physical theatre and has explored this form in his own one man show. Niv relocated to Britain to train in Musical Theatre to broaden his skillset. Here, he experienced a different industry from his native country. Following this, Niv created a one man show called 'Knock Knock!', a play about the relationship between Mother, Son and War and the conflicts and trials faced within the Israeli culture. ‘Knock Knock!’ has gone on to win critical acclaim and the production has travelled from London, New York, Tel Aviv and beyond. Niv is living proof that actors can and must take risks and create their own opportunities. In a world where many performers now have plenty of time on their hands, why not sit down and create the role you've always wanted. If you want to find out more about Knock Knock!
