#AskDrJohnWatts Different questions related to baldness, hair grafts, hair loss, hair transplant procedures and medical treatments for hair loss are being raised by patients now and then, including the followers of Dr John Watts, who keep flooding his series of hugely popular educational videos on his popular YouTube channel with queries related to different hair issues. In this video session, Hyderabad's noted dermatologist & trichologist and one of the Best Hair Transplant Surgeons in Hyderabad, Dr John Watts answers select questions related to PRP therapy as a solution for controlling hair thinning problems besides answering queries related hair building fibre. Dr John has performed over 2000+ hair transplant surgeries successfully. Nikhil asks: Sir, I have hair on my scalp but it is now thinning. I want to know if PRP therapy is a good solution to arrest this problem. Will this increase my hair density? Please explain. In response to the above queries by Nikhil, Dr John Watts explained that PRP therapy is a good solution for arresting hair thinning issues. PRP therapy will also increase hair density but there is a conditional factor. “PRP therapy may increase hair density provided you had dense hair earlier and it suddenly started thinning. The first thing to do is to diagnose what caused hair thinning by consulting a dermatologist,” advised Dr John Watts. He said that hair thinning can be attributed to nutritional and vitamin deficiencies or there could be other causes. “Once the cause is identified, one needs to take medications for treating the deficiencies. This along with PRP therapy can provide good results and may increase hair density,” informed Dr John Watts. GB Arun asks: Sir, for increasing hair density I am using hair-building fibre. I want to know if will it cause hair loss if I use it every day. Please explain. In response to Arun's queries, Dr John Watts explained that hair-building fibre can be used for increasing hair density if one faces uses like hair thinning or when one's scalp is visible. Hair-building fibre s also a good alternative to hair patches in case the latter becomes visible. “Using hair-building fibre is completely safe with no side effects. It will not lead to hair fall either,” said Dr John Watts. However, the noted hair transplant surgeon in Hyderabad cautioned that those using hair-building fibre should always maintain scalp hygiene and take a head wash before going to sleep every day. “You should let your hair dry and again the next morning, you can use the hair-building fibre,” advised Dr John Watts. Cool asks: Sir, I want to know if during PRP therapy what will happen if another person's blood is used during the treatment by mistake? Please explain. In response to the above query, Dr John Watts explained that using another's blood for PRP therapy can backfire as one should always use one's blood for the procedure. “It may lead to sensitivity reaction and cause inflammation on the scalp and face. The patient can even land in emergency care for hospitalisation,” warned Dr John Watts.

#AskDrJohnWatts Pawar asks: Sir, I want to know if after undergoing Scalp Micropigmentation (SMP), can I undertake Platelets Rich Plasma (PRP) therapy immediately. Will it be helpful? Will PRP work on the SMP area on the scalp? Please explain. In response to Pawar's query, Dr John Watts said that it is not advisable to immediately opt for PRP therapy in an area where SMP was undertaken as it can defeat its very purpose. “You need to understand the purpose for which SMP and PRP are undertaken first to know what I mean. Taking up PRP immediately will lead to adverse consequences for SMP,” said Dr John Watts.

In this episode we discuss 2 novel treatments for erectile dysfunction. For years, the treatments for erectile dysfunction have remained the same: we have pills like Viagra and Cialis, injectable therapy, vacuum pumps, and penile implants. Recently, however, new treatments have surfaced that have challenged the usual approach to erectile dysfunction. Two of the most innovative of such novel treatments are shockwave and platelet rich plasma (PRP) therapy. What are these novel treatments? How do they work? Do they involve risks? How successful are they? Why should you use them instead of the traditional treatments for erectile dysfunction. To answer these questions, we turned to Dr. Thomas Masterson, a urologist who is not only a sexual medicine expert, but is also conducting research on these very treatments. Dr. Masterson is assistant professor of urology at the University of Miami. He completed his undergraduate studies at Temple University and then received his medical degree from the University of Miami. He then completed both his urology residency and a fellowship in reproductive and sexual medicine at the University of Miami.

I am joined again by Joe Tillman, The Hair Transplant Mentor to discuss the validity of Low Level Laser Light Therapy and PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) Therapy for the treatment of hair loss. I have personally chosen to never try low level laser light therapy for my hair loss and discuss my reason for that, however, over the years I have heard some women say they received some benefit and others say they received none. I have been doing PRP Therapy since November 2009 with Dr. Joseph Greco in Sarasota Florida. Side note, I live in Los Angeles and have chosen to take the trip from LA to Sarasota (with no direct flights) to see him every 4-5 months for this treatment (not sure that's the exact prescribed timeframe to go for treatment, but it's what I felt made me feel most comfortable). I have personally have found value in this treatment, but like I mentioned above with LLLT, I've also heard from women who have felt they received no benefit at all. As with all therapies, our bodies are unique in how they respond, and if they respond at all. Joe shares his knowledge and insight on these two very popular treatments often being promoted online. It's important we have all the information needed before we can decide whether or not we want to try any hair loss treatment. Joe Tillman is The Hair Transplant Mentor, he has been working in this industry for 18 years, helping both men and women that are considering hair transplant surgery. He was one of the first people to ever document his hair transplant journey beginning March 18, 2002. Eventually what was his passion became his career, and he is now a full time independent guide for both patients and clinics.
