Season 5 Episode #26 Dr. Fawad Mian is coming from Denville, New Jersey (inform, inspire, & transform)You can find Dr. Mian via his website prolohealing.com or advocareneurowellnessmd.comAbout our guest: Dr. Mian is not just a physician—he is someone who's lived the very pain he now helps others overcome. Dr. Mian is a board-certified neurologist and regenerative medicine specialist, working with active adults 55+ who are tired of being told that pills, surgery, or “just living with it” are their only options. After years of dealing with chronic pain and facing a future of invasive procedures, he chose a different path—and discovered what traditional medicine often misses: that the body can heal, when given the right tools and support. Dr. Mian's expertise is in helping high-performing individuals reclaim their strength, mobility, and freedom through precision diagnostics, regenerative therapies like PRP and stem cells, and custom movement protocols. Dr. Mian's approach is deeply personal, because he knows what it's like to be dismissed, misdiagnosed, and stuck. That's why he treats the whole person—not just the symptom—and guides his patients with the same care he'd offer his own family. One motto at Dr. Mian's clinic is, we don't just mask pain—we resolve it. Because healing isn't a hope. It's a plan.Dr. Mian, thanks for sharing your many gifts and talents with people all over the world, thank you for seeking alternatives that help people who live with chronic pain, thank you for having the courage to write your book (Getting to Pain Free…#1 best seller on Amazon) and thanks for being our guest on Life's Essential Ingredients, welcome to the show.TOTD – “At the end of life, most of us will find that we have felt most filled up by the challenges and successful struggles for mastery, creativity, and full expression of our dharma in the world.

Lámhachadh Patrick, buachaill 9 mbliana d'aois, ina cheann ag Árasáin Dhuibhise i mBéal Feirste le linn oibríochta ag Constáblacht Ríoga Uladh (RUC), a scaoil suas le 200 babhta ó ghunnaí meaisín suite i bhfeithiclí. Bhí Patrick ina árasán lena theaghlach, ag lorg foscadh i seomra leapa, nuair a bhuail piléar é. Chuir an RUC bac ar imscrúduithe ina dhiaidh sin, agus fuair tuarascáil Ombudsman na bpóilíní in 2021 teipeanna suntasacha oibríochtúla agus imscrúdaitheacha. Is é an foclóir seo, a sheol an tUachtarán Catherine Connolly ag imeacht Dé Máirt, an chéad fhoclóir cuimsitheach aonteangach Gaeilge-Gaeilge. Dúirt an tUachtarán Connolly gur "acmhainn ríthábhachtach in aon teanga bheo é foclóir aonteangach nua-aimseartha, ina leagann pobal na teanga amach saibhreas agus uathúlacht na teanga ina cuid focal féin, seachas trí mhéan teanga eile". Cuireadh tús le hobair ar An Foclóir Nua Gaeilge i mí Mheán Fómhair 2022, agus bhí príomheagarthóir foclóir Fhoras na Gaeilge Pádraig Ó Mianáin agus clárbhainisteoir foclóra Cormac Breathnach i gceannas ar an tionscadal. Tá sciar tosaigh de 20,000 iontráil, ina bhfuil 40,000 ciall focail, beo ar Focloir.ie. Tá príomhchéim an tionscadail foclóra le bheith críochnaithe faoi Lúnasa 2027, agus faoin am sin beidh 30,000 iontráil agus 80,000 ciall ann.Tá balla ollmhór faoi uisce aimsithe ag seandálaithe mara na Fraince amach ó chósta na Briotáine, atá thart ar 7,000 bliain d'aois. Síltear gur ó shochaí na Clochaoise a d'fhéadfadh sé a bheith agus gurbh é a imeacht faoi na farraigí mar bhunús le finscéal faoi chathair áitiúil a chuaigh faoi uisce. Creideann na seandálaithe gur gaiste éisc nó claí a bhí sa bhalla 120 méadar (394 troigh) – an foirgneamh faoi uisce is mó a fuarthas riamh sa Fhrainc – chun cosaint a thabhairt i gcoinne leibhéil na farraige ag ardú. Nuair a tógadh é ar Île de Sein ag rinn thiar na Briotáine, bhí an balla ar an chladach, ach tá sé faoi naoi méadar uisce sa lá atá inniu ann. Tá an balla 20 méadar ar leithead agus dhá mhéadar ar airde ar an mheán. Fuair tumadóirí clocha móra eibhir – nó monailití – ag gobadh amach os cionn an bhalla i dhá líne chomhthreomhara. Más ceart an hipitéis faoin ghaiste éisc, is dócha go mbíodh líonra déanta as bataí agus craobhacha faoi chúram na monailítí ag gobadh amach chun iasc a ghabháil de réir mar a tharraing an taoide siar. Le mais iomlán de 3,300 tonna, is cinnte gur obair phobail shuntasach a bhí sa bhalla.*Léirithe ag Conradh na Gaeilge i Londain. Dr Mian discussed why frailty should be understood as a dynamic, evolving clinical state rather than a fixed baseline characteristic
Sheraz Mian turns to the slate of Mag 7 earnings on the docket this week, noting four of the five serving as leaders in the A.I. race. The one he doesn't see leading: Apple (AAPL). He believes the company has made notable traction recently but still faces headwinds in A.I. spending and product offerings. He sees Alphabet (GOOGL) gaining more bullish optimism as Google Cloud grows and Wall Street dismisses fears of A.I. eating into search revenue. Sheraz also makes the case that Amazon (AMZN) doesn't care too much on what the Street thinks, something he believes will make its earnings interesting.======== Schwab Network ========Empowering every investor and trader, every market day. Send us a textWhat if your body's natural healing abilities could repair injuries without surgery? That's the question Dr. Fawad Mian found himself asking after conventional treatments failed his own injuries. When Dr. Mian injured his shoulder, doctors immediately suggested surgery, telling him "hopefully we can get a surgery out of you." For his plantar fasciitis, steroid injections provided temporary relief but actually worsened his condition. These experiences led him to discover regenerative medicine techniques that harness the body's inherent healing capacities—treatments that ultimately repaired his own injuries and changed the trajectory of his medical practice. In our wide-ranging conversation, Dr. Mian reveals surprisingly simple strategies to protect your memory and cognitive function as you age. Sleep quality emerges as a critical factor—with the fascinating observation that during extended blackouts after Superstorm Sandy, chronic insomnia patients were suddenly falling asleep naturally by 8pm once electronic devices were unavailable. Dr. Mian recommends eliminating screens at least one hour (ideally two) before bedtime to reset your natural sleep rhythms. We explore how exercise directly benefits brain health by increasing blood flow and enhancing gray matter volume. Rather than extreme workouts, consistency proves most important—with Dr. Mian suggesting 4-5 weekly sessions combining strength training and cardio for optimal results. For those struggling to incorporate movement, even simple solutions like an inexpensive walking treadmill placed in front of your television can accumulate beneficial activity.Dr. Mian explains regenerative treatments like platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy, which concentrates healing factors from your own blood and delivers them precisely where needed. Unlike treatments from umbilical cord or other external sources (which Dr. Mian cautions against), these autologous approaches harness your body's natural repair mechanisms without introducing foreign materials.Beyond physical health, we discuss Dr. Mian's approach to maintaining positive mental health through gratitude practices and visualization techniques. His perspectives on spirituality, relationships, and community service reveal a holistic approach to wellbeing that complements his regenerative medicine philosophy.Ready to explore alternatives to surgery and discover how your body might heal itself? Recent layoff announcements at Big Four accounting, tax, and consulting firms come as the industry faces economic uncertainty and a shrinking talent pool. The accounting profession is at a crossroads as a new class of students graduate. While recent data shows heightened interest in both undergraduate and master's degree programs, the industry faces possible disruptions like workforce reductions and emerging artificial intelligence tools. Deloitte LLP announced in April it would lay off government consulting employees as the Trump administration slashed federal contracts. The firm said in a statement the personnel actions were based on its public-sector clients' "evolving needs," among other factors. PwC LLP plans to cut roughly 1,500 jobs, many in its tax and assurance practices, the firm said last month, after two years of historically low levels of turnover. The firm plans to slow down its campus recruiting and will offer fewer internships for next year. But PwC announced this week it plans to reorganize its US advisory business, doubling the number of divisions from four to eight. The move "is being approached from a position of strength," according to a statement from PwC US advisory leader Tyson Cornell. Peter Demerjian is the director of the school of accountancy at Georgia State University. Namaan Mian is the chief operating officer at Management Consulted, a professional training and coaching organization. Demerjian and Mian spoke with Bloomberg Tax reporter Jorja Siemons about the recent layoffs, the industry's embrace of AI, and potential impacts on the industry's next generation. My guest today, Zia Mian is co-director of Princeton University's Program on Science and Global Security. He's a physicist who has long studied nuclear weapons and nuclear security. In our conversation Zia Mian explains how scientists have impacted policy discussions about nuclear weapons since the dawn of the nuclear age, and how as the nuclear security landscape is evolving--and as science is advancing, scientists can continue to contribute to our understanding of the effects of a nuclear war. In addition to his perch at Princeton, Zia Mian serves as Co-Chair of the Scientific Advisory Group of the United Nations Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons. This is the first first international scientific body created by a United Nations treaty process for the purpose of advancing nuclear disarmament and in our conversation he explains how the work of scientists can contribute to a nuclear free world. We kick off, however, discussing the recent conflict between India and Pakistan and what this conflict says about the role of nuclear weapons in international security today. We recorded this conversation in conjunction with the Carnegie International Nuclear Policy Conference. To view other episodes in this series please visit GlobalDispatches.org

In this episode, Julia is joined by Anna & Ayesha to bring closure to the Women Leading Together series. Across the series, certain sub-themes had surfaced, and Julia sought to explore these with Anna and Ayesha, who have co-chaired the Committee on Global Mental Health and International Relations for nearly a decade. Together, they reflected on the foundations of their collaboration, the role of generational differences in leadership, and how they overcame challenges, including "bumpy times," to cultivate a resilient and inspiring partnership. “What came out of the bumpy times, probably because of the bumps, is a much stronger relationship,” reflected Anna. Listen to this finale to discover how shared values, mutual respect and navigating challenges can forge stronger bonds and redefine how women lead together. About the Guest: Anna E. Ordóñez, M.D., M.A.S., is the Director of the Office of Clinical Research (OCR) at the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) in the United States. With over a decade of experience at NIMH, she has held key roles including Director and Deputy Director of OCR, as well as Medical Officer of the NIMH Intramural Child Psychiatry Branch. Previously, she was the Medical Director of the Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at San Francisco General Hospital and Assistant Adjunct Professor at UCSF. Anna is trained as an Adult, Child and Adolescent Psychiatrists and holds a Master of Advanced Studies in Clinical Research with an emphasis on Implementation Science. She has dedicated her career to conducting and overseeing mental health clinical research studies, with a particular interest in global mental health and implementation of evidence based mental health interventions in limited resource settings. Dr Ayesha Mian is the founder and CEO of Synapse, Pakistan Neuroscience Institute. She is the immediate past Chair, Department of Psychiatry (2013-2020), Aga Khan University and the Founding Dean of Students of the Office of Student Experience (2017-2020), AKU. Dr Mian created the first child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship training program in Pakistan. She has been internationally recognised for her work; key awards include the Jeanna Spurlock Award for Diversity and Culture by AACAP, the Laughlin Fellowship by American College of Psychiatrist (ACP), Presidential Award and Outstanding Mentor by AACAP, Robert Fellowship for Inspirational Mentorship (AAP), Fulbright and Jaworski Awards in Educational Leadership by BCM and a Lifetime Achievement Award by the University of Missouri, Department of Psychiatry.
In the third episode of Exploring Continues, Julia talks to Ayesha Mian. Ayesha reflects on her experience of leading a diverse group of women during the Pakistan expedition, how her leading has shaped over the last one year and how Body has emerged as part of her Essence recently. On Motherness, she provides us with an insight that might resonate with many (men and women alike) who are building their organisations and looking forward to making it independent of their presence, so that the organisation can thrive without being dependent on the founder. “That's the Motherness in my mind, how am I nurturing a little child that makes them have their own agency and independence, and then they can survive in this own world where I can become obsolete,” she notes. This episode is a deep dive into Ayesha's reflections on the first expedition, leading her own expedition and building her neuroscience institute in Pakistan. Listen to this one to understand how Essence shapes leading. About the Guest: Dr Ayesha Mian is the founder and CEO of Synapse, Pakistan Neuroscience Institute. She is the immediate past Chair, Department of Psychiatry (2013-2020), Aga Khan University and the Founding Dean of Students of the Office of Student Experience (2017-2020), AKU. Sheraz Mian, director of research at Zacks Investment Research, says that the cumulative effect of the Federal Reserve's rate cycle starts showing up, it will goose the economy and the stock market, and with the worst of the post-Covid struggles behind us, the "soft landing" most experts forecast is actually what we're experiencing now, and that better times — and continued strong corporate earnings — are ahead, without a big correction or downturn in the interim. Mian isn't the only one expressing bullish sentiment, as Charles Rotblut, editor of AAII Journal checks in with the details of the latest AAII investor sentiment survey, which has shown particularly high levels of bullish sentiment for about two months now, but who notes that the market typically delivers unimpressive gains when emotions are running high. David Trainer of New Constructs re-affirms the past selection of Affirm Holdings in The Danger Zone, noting that the stock's recent gains of about 70 percent have simply positioned it to take another big fall, as he believes investors have bought the hype and ignored the reality of the company's struggles to deliver real profits. Plus, Money Life introduces its latest sponsor, Monetary Metals; Saad Zein, chief portfolio officer for Monetary Metals, discusses how the company enables investors to earn interest on their gold and silver holdings — paid in precious metals — and how generatking that income changes what many people consider the biggest weakness and turn-off to putting money into silver and gold.

Sheraz Mian, director of research at Zacks Investment Research -- which focuses on earnings results for much of its forecasting -- says that with about one quarter of companies having now reported earnings results for 2023, the numbers look like "more of the same, more of the good stuff." He doesn't expect growth to be impressive this year, but there's also not much negative guidance or gloomy outlooks from companies, and he expects that mixed but largely benign environment to last through the year. Meanwhile, Hamish Preston, director of U.S. equity indices for S&P Dow Jones Indices, talks about the market's recent record highs and what they portend for the year ahead, noting that In years when the S&P 500 hits a new peak in January, gains tend to be higher than normal for the year, an average gain of roughly 10.5 percent compared to years when the market fails to reach record levels until later. Plus, David Trainer of New Constructs puts a large-cap fund that gets a four-star rating from Morningstar into the Danger Zone for holding too many dangerous stocks, and Lynette Khalfani-Cox discusses her new book, "Bounce Back: The Ultimate Guide to Financial Resilience."
Bloomberg Radio host Barry Ritholtz speaks with Jawad S. Kate reviews this week's episode of The Bachelor. Aurelien Leturgie and Emilie Dumay, co-Executive Producers of Gunther's Millions. This four-part Netflix investigative docuseries tells the story of multi-millionaire Gunther VI, who lives in the lap of luxury: He travels on private planes, eats gold-flaked steaks for dinner, and surrounds himself with a glamorous entourage of spokesmodels and entertainers. Also, Gunther VI is a dog - a German shepherd. Gunther's great-grandfather was originally owned by a mysterious countess whose son died tragically. Having no heirs, the countess bequeathed her considerable fortune to her beloved dog, and placed him in the care of her son's close friend, an Italian pharmaceutical heir and aspiring impresario named Maurizio Mian. Over the past 30 years, Mian has built an empire on behalf of his boss (a canine), including glamorous real estate purchases (including Madonna's home in Miami), controversial social experiments including a band, and one of the biggest tax fraud schemes of all time all under the umbrella of Gunther's empire. It is a bizarre and unthinkable story, and naturally – obviously, questions abound.
