MUSE cells are one of the most exciting breakthroughs in regenerative medicine — and most people have never heard of them.Hidden inside your own tissue is a rare, elite subpopulation of stem cells that can find injury, eat damaged cells, and become them. Discovered in 2010 by Dr. Marie Dezawa at Tohoku University in Japan, they are now one of the most talked-about developments in regenerative medicine. And for good reason.Dr. Joy Kong, the Stem Cell Queen, breaks down the science from the ground up: why conventional stem cell sources like bone marrow and fat-derived cells have real limitations, what makes umbilical cord cells a significant upgrade, and why MUSE cells represent something fundamentally different. These cells home into damaged tissue like a guided missile using the S1P pathway, eat the damaged cells, absorb their DNA fragments, and transform into the exact cell type that needs replacing. They carry zero tumor risk, require no donor matching, and get stronger the harsher the environment they're placed in. Dr. Joy also shares her own personal experience using MUSE cells for a chronic hip issue — and the result that surprised even her. This episode covers the full history of stem cell therapy, the biological mechanisms that make MUSE cells unique, the Goldilocks ratio for optimal treatment, what clinical use looks like today, and why this technology — though newer — carries extraordinary promise for the future of regenerative medicine. If you are in your 50s or 60s and wondering why your body isn't healing the way it used to, MUSE cell therapy may be the answer.

Most people spending money on stem cell treatments have no idea what they're actually getting. In this episode, I sit down with Dr. Adeel Khan, MD to break down what's actually happening in regenerative medicine right now. We get into why most stem cells on the market aren't really stem cells, how to verify what you're paying for, and why your body's internal environment matters just as much as the treatment itself. We also talk about where this field is heading, the new testing technology that's about to change how we measure results, and what a real, no-constraints regenerative protocol actually looks like. Your body already knows how to heal itself. The question is whether anyone is giving it the right signals.Dr. Adeel Khan trained as a conventional physician before following a thread most doctors ignore: what if we could restore the system, not just manage the symptoms? That thread led him through sports medicine, global laboratories, stem cell research, and a fundamental rethinking of what aging actually is at the cellular level. In this conversation, Dr. Khan explains why most clinics calling themselves "stem cell" providers aren't offering what they claim, what MUSE cells actually do differently, why the US regulatory environment has kept these therapies out of reach — and what's quietly changing. He also pulls back the curtain on peptides, mitochondrial repair, and the emerging field of proteomics that may finally give us real data on how well these interventions work. The future of medicine may not look like treatment at all. It may look like restoration.BIG IDEAIf the system we built worked so well, we wouldn't have the problems that we do.Contact: Dr. Adeel KhanSocial Media: @drakhanWebsite: eterna.healthSend Dr. Ovadia a Text Message. Most psychiatric treatments for autism don't address what's actually happening underneath the diagnosis. They subdue. They don't repair. In this episode, I sit down with Karen Thomas of Naturally Recovering Autism to break down what stem cell therapy can actually do for children on the spectrum.Children with autism show impaired central nervous system circulation, active neuroinflammation on brain autopsy, and higher rates of autoimmune patterns in their families. Mesenchymal stem cells, MSCs, address all three at once. They stimulate angiogenesis to restore blood flow and oxygen to the brain, suppress pathological immune responses, reduce neuroinflammation, and secrete factors that activate the body's own local stem cells. I share a clinical case of a seven-year-old who went from diaper-bound and non-verbal to verbal, continent, and climbing stairs after a single IV treatment with birth-tissue-derived cells. We also get into why not all MSCs are created equal, why 200 million expanded cells overseas often underperform 20 million original cells, what the FDA's Section 361 actually means, and how I sourced and built the cell product used in my clinic through Chara Biologics. We close on why no stem cell protocol works in isolation. Diet, detox, nutrient status, and exercise are part of the protocol, not optional add-ons.If your child is on the spectrum, or you work with families who are, this is the mechanism and sourcing breakdown most parents never get.Joy talks about:00:00 What stem cell therapy actually is05:37 The three mechanisms underlying autism08:46 How MSCs restore oxygen to the brain10:54 From non-verbal and diaper-bound to talking and walking stairs16:25 Why your own bone marrow cells may not be the answer19:58 Are all MSCs created equal21:55 FDA Section 361 and what's legal in the US23:34 Why 200 million expanded cells underperform 20 million original27:39 Inside the sourcing and 89-question donor screening43:42 Why diet and detox decide whether stem cells workAdditional Resources✨ Listen to Naturally Recovering Autism with Karen Thomas: https://naturallyrecoveringautism.com/ ✨ Karen's free four-stage webinar for parents: https://naturallyrecoveringautism.com/freeworkshop Visit My Clinic:

Joy's Background and Peptide Discussion Nate and Joy discussed Joy's background, including her 27 years in Los Angeles since attending UCLA in 1999, and her earlier time in China, San Francisco, and Minnesota. They briefly touched on President Trump's visit to China and discussed local issues in Los Angeles, including homelessness. The conversation then shifted to peptides and stem cell therapy. II. Peptide Therapy and Longevity Discussion Nate and Joy discussed various peptides, focusing on Epitalon and its benefits for telomere protection and longevity. Joy explained that Epitalon can help extend telomeres, protecting DNA and potentially reducing age-related diseases. They also touched on MOTS-C's potential role in cancer prevention and its use in conjunction with stem cell therapy. Joy emphasized the importance of combining peptides with stem cell therapy for optimal results, highlighting the effectiveness of this approach in her clinic. III. Umbilical Cord Stem Cell Therapy Joy explained Chara Health's focus on regenerative therapy using stem cells, particularly emphasizing the benefits of using younger umbilical cord-derived stem cells over older fat or bone marrow derived stem cells. Joy cited research showing that umbilical cord stem cells are more effective and have lower cancer risk compared to fat-derived stem cells, as demonstrated in studies involving glioblastoma tumors. IV. Stem Cell Treatment Overview Joy explained how stem cells are sourced from umbilical cords and placentas, which are typically discarded but can now be harvested through procurement companies. She described treating patients with various conditions including musculoskeletal issues, chronic diseases, and neurological disorders through different delivery methods such as IV, direct injection, and intranasal routes. Joy shared a remarkable case of a patient with liver cirrhosis who was near death but experienced significant improvement after receiving stem cell treatment, with his liver function returning to normal. V. Stem Cell Treatment Protocols Joy explained that stem cells used in treatments are the same type regardless of the condition being treated, though different cell combinations are used depending on the clinic and specific product. She described her unique combination of cells from umbilical cord blood, cord tissue, and amniotic membrane, which includes mesenchymal stem cells, immune cells, and endothelial progenitor cells. Joy also discussed her use of peptides like BPC-157 and TB-500 in her treatment protocol, with additional peptides prescribed based on specific patient needs such as autoimmune issues or infections. VI. Stem Cell Therapy Discussion Nate and Joy discussed stem cell therapy, including its legal status in the United States and its effectiveness in treating conditions like dementia and Parkinson's disease. Joy explained that stem cell therapy is legal if cells are not grown or altered outside the body, and she shared specific cases where patients showed improvements in memory and personality after treatment. They also talked about Joy's memoir, social media presence, and her experience as an egg donor. The conversation concluded with a brief discussion about business and international relations. VII. Quick Recap Nate interviewed Dr. Joy Kong, a stem cell therapist and peptide specialist based in Los Angeles, about her work at Chara Health and her approach to regenerative medicine. Dr. Kong discussed her use of umbilical cord-derived stem cells, explaining that they are superior to fat-derived stem cells due to their younger age and better healing potential. She shared remarkable patient success stories, including a case of a liver cirrhosis patient who was near death and showed significant improvement after stem cell treatment. The conversation covered Dr. Kong's peptide therapy protocols, including her use of Epitalon for telomere protection, BPC-157 and TB-500 for musculoskeletal issues, and various other peptides for specific conditions. They also discussed Dr. Kong's social media presence and her memoir about overcoming challenges in her early life. The interview concluded with Dr. Kong recommending Tesamorelin and GLP-1 peptides as underrated options in her practice.

What if the knee replacement your surgeon insists on isn't actually your only option?A 12-year study followed 30 patients with osteonecrosis in both knees. One knee got replaced, the other got umbilical cord–derived stem cells. By the end, six replacement knees needed revision surgery. Only one stem cell knee ever needed replacement.Dr. Joy Kong is a triple board-certified physician known as the Stem Cell Queen, and at her Los Angeles clinic Chara Health she treats joint osteoarthritis using birth tissue–derived mesenchymal stem cells from donated umbilical cord and placental tissue from healthy live births. Her dual-angle protocol combines intra-articular injection with intravenous delivery — the outer third of cartilage is fed by blood supply while the inner two-thirds is fed by synovial fluid, so treating both routes produces a synergistic effect single injections cannot match. She walks through the anti-inflammatory phase, the tissue rebuilding phase, the critical four-to-six-week fragility window, and the comparative study showing dramatically lower revision rates for stem cell–treated knees. If you've been told joint replacement is your only option, this episode may change how you think about what your body can still heal.Dr. Joy talks about:00:00 What to expect from stem cell therapy for joint pain00:27 How umbilical cord stem cells regenerate joints01:25 Birth tissue vs. fetal cells — clearing the confusion02:18 Why dual-angle treatment outperforms single injections03:09 What recovery actually looks like04:13 The 4–6 week fragility window most patients underestimate05:27 The 12-year study that changed how I think about knee replacementAdditional ResourcesVisit My Clinic: Chara Health

In this episode of Rx for Biotech, host Chris Leidli sits down with Kevin Caldwell, CEO of Ossium Health, to explore how bone marrow transplants, cell therapy, and bioengineered immune systems are transforming the future of medicine. Ossium Health is building a first-of-its-kind bone marrow banking platform, using donor-derived cells to make life-saving treatments available on demand. Traditionally, patients can wait months to find a donor match - time many simply don't have. Ossium is changing that by enabling transplants in as little as 48 hours, dramatically improving access to care. In this conversation, Kevin explains how bone marrow transplants work, why they are one of the most powerful tools in modern medicine, and how replacing a patient's blood and immune system can treat diseases like blood cancers and immune disorders. We also dive into: • Why most eligible patients never receive a bone marrow transplant • How off-the-shelf cell therapy could scale life-saving treatments • The role of the immune system in preventing disease and cancer • How donor-derived cells could unlock the future of regenerative medicine and longevity • Why improving immune health may be one of the most powerful ways to extend human life As cell therapy and regenerative medicine continue to evolve, Ossium's approach could help shift healthcare from reactive treatment to proactive, personalized immune system care.

Ed Ahn, CEO of MEDIPOST, is developing next-generation stem cell therapies for inflammation-driven degenerative diseases with a primary focus on knee osteoarthritis. Using umbilical cord-derived stem cells, which have higher proliferation capacity than adult-derived stem cells, allows MEDIPOST to scale cell manufacturing and provide broader access to care. The company's lead program, Cartistem, has been approved in Korea for over 10 years, and new funding will accelerate US clinical trials. Ed explains, "We are focused on treating inflammation-driven degenerative diseases. So all these diseases that you commonly associate with the aging process. Those are some of the things that we're very interested in slowing the progression of." "We're actually going back to the source for neonatal stem cells from the cord blood. One of the primary advantages of going for a neonatal source of stem cells versus an adult source is that these are the most naive stem cells that one can obtain. And what I mean by naive is that they've been in a protected environment in the mother's womb. They have not been exposed to a lot of the different antigens that adults have been exposed to. So they're very immune-privileged compared to adult stem cells." "I think this idea or the concern about cost can be applied to all sorts of regenerative medicines, whether or not they're gene therapies or cell therapies, they're amongst the most expensive therapies to manufacture for a company, primarily because we're building a process around an inherently biological process. One of the advantages we have at MEDIPOST is that this product has been approved in Korea for over 10 years. So we have a tremendous amount of manufacturing experience and know-how from our parent company in Korea that we're able to apply to our manufacturing process in North America. And that really advances and matures our program far beyond other people in the field."    #MEDIPOST #CARTISTEM #StemCellTherapy #KneeOsteoarthritis #RegenerativeMedicine #Innovation #Healthcare #Biotech #ClinicalTrials #JointHealth #AntiAging #MedicalBreakthrough #BiotechInnovation medipost.com Listen to the podcast here

I am excited to share powerful insights from the latest episode of Capitalist Culture. This time, I sat down with Seth, founder of Precision Biologics and Regenerative Revival, to explore the rapidly expanding world of regenerative medicine, entrepreneurship, and leadership. His perspective on innovation, compliance, patient outcomes, and business execution is both practical and forward-looking.Here are a few highlights from our conversation.Key Lessons and Ideas:• Regenerative Medicine as a Non-Invasive AlternativeSeth explained how regenerative medicine addresses chronic and acute pain without surgery. Rather than masking pain, these therapies signal the body to heal itself, particularly in soft tissue injuries and degenerative conditions.• Stem Cell Therapy in the United StatesThere is a common misconception that patients must travel overseas for stem cell treatments. Seth clarified that umbilical cord-derived products in the United States are ethically sourced from birthing tissue and processed under strict tissue-bank and FDA guidelines. High-quality care is available domestically.• Umbilical Cord vs Autologous Stem CellsSeth described why younger umbilical cord stem cells can be more effective than using a patient's own tissue. At the same time, he emphasized compliance and responsible education, since these therapies are not FDA-approved and must be clearly communicated as experimental.• Education as the Growth EngineA major barrier in regenerative medicine is awareness. Seth uses seminars, in-home services, and hands-on clinic support to educate patients and physicians. Precision Biologics provides not only products, but training, operational systems, and marketing strategy to help clinics succeed.• Business Discipline in MedicineMany physicians struggle not with medicine, but with business. Seth highlighted the importance of marketing, sales conversations around cash pay procedures, and compliant systems that protect patient trust while enabling scale.Industry Curiosities and Forward-Looking Themes:• Capital Flow into Regenerative MedicineThere is significant investor interest flowing into research and startups across stem cells, exosomes, peptides, and hormone replacement therapy. Seth believes we are early in a major growth cycle.• Business in a Box ModelHis upcoming venture focuses on patient access and outcomes through a scalable, systems-driven approach. The emphasis is on clear goals, measurable improvement, and consistent patient feedback.• Expansion into Telehealth and Hormone OptimizationSeth is launching a telehealth platform and expanding into peptide and hormone replacement therapy, with a focus on improving healthspan, not just lifespan.Leadership and Personal Reflections:• From Door to Door Sales to Industry BuilderSeth began selling meat door to door at 19. That early exposure to rejection and persuasion shaped his entrepreneurial edge. He believes sales is the foundation of solving higher ticket problems.• Mentorship MattersLooking back, Seth wishes he had sought mentors earlier. Today he invests heavily in mentoring younger professionals so they can avoid common mistakes and compress their learning curve.• Fulfillment Over MoneyHe shared a shift from chasing income to pursuing impact, especially as a father. Success for him now is measured by patient outcomes, provider growth, and the liveSend a textConnect with Kip on LinkedInhttps://www.linkedin.com/in/kipknippel/Watch Bite-Sized Clips on YouTubehttps://www.youtube.com/@capitalistculture/shorts

Dr. Howard Federoff, Scientific Co-Founder, Chief Medical Officer, and Executive Vice President of Corporate Medicine and Science at Kenai Therapeutics, is developing a cell therapy for Parkinson's disease that involves transplanting IPSCs into the brain to replace lost dopamine neurons.  The goal is not to cure the underlying cause of the disease, but to restore motor function and reverse the disease's progression. Initial clinical focus was on patients with moderate to moderate-severe idiopathic Parkinson's, showing efficacy and safety, leading to expanding the study to include earlier-stage and familial forms of the disease. Howard explains, "Kenai was formed about three and a half years ago, and the intention is to develop a cellular product, which means that what is manufactured will be eligible in the right patient groups who have a diagnosis of Parkinson's to be placed into the brain. And consequent to its placement, the cells will then form new circuits, dopamine circuits that are lost owing to the disease diagnosis that will have occurred years earlier." "The induced pluripotent stem cell approach is one we favor for several reasons. The nature of what then becomes the IPSC, as we like to call it, starts with a normal human volunteer whose medical history is very detailed and does not contain any familial personal history of neurodegeneration. That cell then undergoes a process called reprogramming. And in our case, it's done with a slightly different approach than many others. And the reprogramming effectively creates a cell that is pluripotent, meaning it can become any cell of the body. That's when it is designated as an induced pluripotent stem cell."  #KenaiTherapeutics #ParkinsonsDisease #CellTherapy #StemCells #Neuroscience #MedicalInnovation #ClinicalTrials #RegenerativeMedicine #Biotechnology #BioTech #AdvancedBiologics #NeurologicalDisorders #Neurology #DrugDevelopment KenaiTx.com Download the transcript here

In this episode, Dr. Buck Joffrey speaks with the team at BioXcellerator about what separates rigorous regenerative medicine from hype-driven shortcuts. The conversation focuses on why stem cells aren't about "replacing" tissue, but about directing the body's own repair systems through immune signaling, inflammation control, and cellular communication. Drawing from Buck's own experience receiving treatment at BioXcellerator, the discussion unpacks why cell source, processing, viability, and delivery fundamentally shape outcomes. They break down the differences between Wharton's jelly–derived mesenchymal stem cells and adult autologous cells, how hypoxic culturing alters therapeutic signaling, and why exosomes alone are not interchangeable with living cells. I presented this lecture to help medical providers see just how much data we actually have when it comes to stem cell therapy. If we never look at the studies, we assume they don't exist, but they do. And they're not just encouraging but very inspiring. As the founder of the American Academy of Integrative Cell Therapy, I've spent years digging into peer-reviewed research and applying it in real clinical settings. In this talk, I walk through compelling studies that show how mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) are being used to treat autoimmune diseases, neurological disorders, cardiovascular conditions, and even things like erectile dysfunction and autism.I look at the regenerative power of MSCs, how they travel where they're needed, and the wide-ranging ways they modulate inflammation, restore function, and enhance healing.Stem cell research is moving fast, and we're witnessing the early days of a major shift in modern medicine.

322: If you suffer from chronic pain, chronic gut issues, organ problems, arthritis, or unexplained pain where nothing else helps, and you've exhausted your resources trying to figure out the cause, today's episode may enlighten you and offer insight into what your body may be missing to naturally heal and repair itself without pharmaceuticals. Christian Drapeau joins me today to share about stem cell therapy and what it can do for the body through its own repair mechanisms. If you've heard of stem cell therapy, you already know it can cost up to $50k for one injection. Thankfully, Christian came up with a much more affordable, and perhaps safer, solution than the needle. He shares his discovery of certain plants that can help your body repair itself on a cellular level naturally, helping to combat those persistent, unexplainable autoimmune issues. Heck, maybe you just want to age more slowly, look younger, and have more energy to enjoy life! I can guarantee everyone who listens today will benefit from the information shared in this episode. Dr. Jeff Graham talks with Dr. Mattias Bernow, a physician, economist, and CEO of Cellcolabs — about the current state of stem cell therapy. They discuss how mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) function through signaling rather than cell replacement, where evidence supports their use today, and why good manufacturing practices (GMP) are essential for safety and efficacy. The conversation explores clinical data on cardiovascular, autoimmune, and neurodegenerative diseases, and what large-scale, evidence-based production could mean for the future of regenerative medicine.
