Host Carl Lewis is joined by coach and analyst Grant de Smidt as they review the DSTV Premiership match between Mamelodi Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs Defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns subjected Kaizer Chiefs to a humiliating 4-0 defeat at Loftus Versfeld in Tshwane on Saturday afternoon. Gaston Sirino opened the scoring for the hosts in the sixth minute following a mix-up between Siyabonga Ngezana and goalkeeper Bruce Bvuma in the Chiefs box. Ngezana was culpable once again in Masandawana's second goal, bringing down Peter Shalulile in the 16th minute for a needless penalty, though Zitha Kwinika was mistakenly shown a yellow card for the foul by referee Victor Gomes. The Namibian dusted himself to double the lead from the spot. Shalulile got his second goal of the afternoon after firing past the helpless Bvuma in the 53rd minute. Ronwen Williams saved a 56th minute penalty by Khama Billiat, for good measure. The highly-rated Abubeker Nessir introduced himself to South African football rather frighteningly with a sensational goal in the 76th minute to complete the embarrassing rout. Mamelodi Sundowns: Williams, Modiba, Mudau, B. Onyango, De Reuck, Mokoena, Jali, Zwane, Sirino, Shalulile Subs: D. Onyango, Morena, Lebusa, Mkhulise, Kapinga, Nasir, Lakay, Domingo, Kutumela. African National Congress (ANC) head of policy Jeff Radebe said on Friday that organisational renewal is important for the survival of the party as it released its policy discussion papers ahead of the much-awaited policy conference scheduled to take place between July 28 and 31. The ANC will take discussions to its branches and other forums, which will convene between the end of June and July 23. Addressing the media at the party's headquarters in Johannesburg, Radebe acknowledged that the ANC had been discussing renewal for a long time. He said it would continue as it was important in taking the party forward. The ANC dipped below 50% at the polls in a number of metros and municipalities in the 2021 local government elections. “This is a huge warning signal for the coming 2024 national elections,” said Radebe. Radebe said the ANC would continue to ensure that the behaviour of party members and leadership was ethical and that several elements would be removed from the party's ranks. He added that recent unsavoury factors such as lower levels of community trust, corruption, poor service delivery and a “distant, out-of-touch, inward-looking ANC” that was unable to be an effective agent of change and connect with communities, had resulted in the ANC losing support including in the local government elections. ECONOMIC POLICY On its vision for the country's economy, the ANC policy document says the party is guided by the Freedom Charter. The ANC laid out its strategy for economic growth with a focus on: structural reforms of network industries for expanded investment, particularly in electricity, telecommunications, water, rail and road infrastructure strengthened industrial policy interventions better management of expenditure and taxation, and a balanced monetary policy a mixed economy with the private and public elements to boost job creation expanded regional trade in Africa. “The new policy frameworks must be underpinned by a comprehensive social compact of government, business, labour and civil society as the President Cyril Ramaphosa indicated during the State of the Nation Address,” Radebe said. He acknowledged that, as a precondition, an ethical and capable State with broad support was essential for the programme to succeed. He warned those involved in corrupt activities that damage to the country's growth potential and infrastructure was tantamount to economic sabotage adding that it had no place in the ANC. Radebe said it was important that the criminal justice system and crime intelligence, as well as the South African Police Service, were strengthened. “The attainment of democracy in 1994 fundamentally shifted the strategic balance of forces in South Africa in favour of the forces of national liberation and social transformation. Indeed, a major concern in the current period pertains to weaknesses and even reversals, especially at municipal level, and the capacity of the State in general,” he said. He added that the State Capture Commission has been a vital tool in assisting government to eradicate corruption. Find the documents here

This week's episode has it all: from tears to laughter as I am joined by the King of Joy and Strictly Come Dancing pro, Johannes Radebe. Born in the township Zamdela Sasolburg, South Africa, Johannes started dancing when he was 7, after discovering a love for sequins - who can blame him?! Johannes hit the big time on the dance floor after appearing on the debut season of South Africa's Dancing with The Stars. From there, he headed to the UK in 2018 to feature in the pro line up for Strictly Come Dancing, and became a true game changer. After VOGUEING in heels, Johannes danced the first same-sex dance routine with fellow pro Graziano Di Prima and whilst some haters called Ofcom, it paved the way for the first all-male partnership in the show's 19 year history, with baker, John Whaite. The pair not only came second but they won fans across the country and started important conversations in the process. Now as he is preparing for his first solo show, Johannes Radebe: Freedom, which will open on 16 March and run through to 1 May 2022 across the UK. It promises to be a celebration of music and dance, from African fusion to fiery Latin, classic dance arrangements and huge party anthems. So get your tickets NOW: https://www.johannes-live.com/I was obsessed with Johannes and John's partnership on the most recent season of Strictly Come Dancing but get ready to fall a bit more in love with Johannes after listening to this episode as he opens up about how therapeutic the partnership was. He also talks about the tragic circumstances that led to him being honest about his sexuality with his mother, just a few years ago. Johannes is a true symbol of living truthfully as you - in spite of hate growing up and judgment even today - so I hope, like me, this chat inspires you to be more comfortable in your own skin. I hope you continue to listen and find the power to Reign in your own lives, too. And if you love this episode, please get in touch (follow me across social media @joshsmithhosts), I love hearing from you. Love, Josh xxx

Samkelo Radebe had both his hands amputated as a young child when a game with his brother and friends went badly wrong and 11 000v of electricity surged through his body. But even then, his optimistic and pragmatic nature helped him through the 9 month hospital recovery and eventually took him to the top of the sporting world.First representing South Africa at the 2010 Delhi Commonwealth Games where he won silver in the 100m, Sam went on to win gold at the World Championships the following year in the 4 x 100m relay, and became Paralympic Champion at the London 2012 Games in the 4 x 100m relay. He is also a multiple South African record holder in the sprint and jump events. In this episode Sam gives a unique and honest perspective on why his disability shouldn't automatically make him inspiring, and talks us through the reality that even being a Paralympic gold medallist doesn't mean you will actually earn any money as an athlete. There are so many pieces of wisdom in this episode that I think we can all learn from and become better, more aware athletes and people.
"Former Paralympian athlete Samkelo Radebe was a member of the 2012 100m relay team which won gold in the T42-46 class, he looks back at that glorious moment. The ATLANTIC INSTITUTE, ATLANTIC PROGRAMS and RHODES SCHOLARSHIP are hosting a series of webinars about our world post COVID-19. While the coronavirus has physically distanced and isolated millions of people, it has more than ever in our life-times, drawn people and organisations together under a common humanity and a profoundly collective commitment to act. In this series of webinars, we turn our imagination to something (k)new where we remember, reflect and shape what our local and global futures might look like post COVID-19. In this fourth webinar, the speakers discuss the benefits and challenges of community-led mental health services: (1) DR VIKRAM PATEL, Pershing Square Professor, Blavatnik Institute Department of Global Health & Social Medicine, Harvard Medical School; (2) KENTSE RADEBE, Atlantic Fellow for Health Equity in South Africa; and (3) DR NAVDEEP KANG, Chief Clinical Officer, Bright View & Obama Fellow. In this episode, I chat with Sandile Radebe about his artistic practice. This is the 4th episode in a series on Unframed called "Artists in Isolation” which profiles South African artists during the lockdown period of the COVID19 pandemic. We are living through unprecedented times, where we are needing to find new ways of connecting with each other and the broader art industry, of being inspired, and of creating more platforms for artists. Sandile is a Johannesburg-based artist whose main area of interest is art practice in both public and private spaces. He explores these spaces through simulating a new reading of graffiti and, more broadly, the way language works to help construct our realities. Sandile visualised graffiti in abstract sculptural forms and creates installations with these forms to create labyrinthine structures akin to walking in the city.
Paul Robinson experienced incredible highs and crushing lows during his goalkeeping career. The Yorkshireman was a Leeds United academy product and he was there during their glory, glory days under chairman Peter Ridsdale. What players they had – think of names like Smith, Woodgate, Kewell, Maybury, Kelly, Bowyer, Harte and Radebe.Paul came under the wing of brilliant, tough-but-fair youth coach Paul Hart and was toughened up by John Burridge at Durham City – in my opinion the most wonderfully nutty No1 in British football history. Paul explains how ‘Budgie' had a truly extraordinary enthusiasm for the beautiful game and a massive heart. An injury crisis handed Paul his first-team debut against Chelsea. He was only eighteen, but he loved every minute of it. Eventually, he would star against top Champions League teams, including a Barcelona side which featured the magical Rivaldo. You will love this Big Interview with this engaging, thoughtful, articulate man.Graham.
