“In this raw and unfiltered debut episode of Journey with Lena, I'm baring it all. I dive deep into the challenges and triumphs of 2024—a year that tested my faith, forced me to grow, and ultimately set me on a path of clarity and purpose. From heartbreaks to breakthroughs, I'll share how God's guidance transformed my life, the lessons I've learned, and the goals that are driving me forward into 2025. As we embark on a new year, it's the perfect time to reflect on our faith journey and set intentional goals for spiritual growth. In this second installment of our three-part "Growth Goals Series," we explore how to align our aspirations with God's plan for our lives. The Importance of Spiritual GoalsSetting spiritual goals goes beyond personal improvement—it's about drawing closer to God and living out His purpose for us. By creating spiritual goals, we make a conscious commitment to prioritize God in all aspects of our lives. This intentional focus helps us:Strengthen our relationship with GodDevelop a more consistent prayer lifeIncrease our understanding of ScriptureApply biblical principles to our daily livesCultivate spiritual disciplinesUltimately, it's about transforming our entire way of living to align with God's will.Steps to Set Effective Spiritual GoalsPray and Reflect: Before setting any goals, dedicate time to prayer and seek God's guidance. Ask Him to reveal areas where He wants you to grow, ensuring that your goals align with His will.Be Specific and Measurable: Instead of vague goals like "read the Bible more," opt for specific objectives.Make Goals Achievable: Set goals that challenge you but remain within reach. Remember, growth is a process, not a race. Start with small, attainable goals and gradually increase their complexity as you progress.Align with Biblical Values: Ensure your goals are grounded in Scripture and align with God's teachings. Review and Adjust Regularly: Set aside time periodically to review your progress and adjust your goals as needed. This flexibility allows you to respond to God's leading and changes in your life circumstances.Send us a textSupport the show

It's the start of the new year, and I know many of you are in planning mode, setting ambitious goals for 2025. It's a time of excitement but also some uncertainty. As I record this episode, Mark Zuckerberg has just announced that Meta will be removing fact-checking and a whole lot of policies on their platforms – they say that it's to streamline things, but in all honesty it's going to make these platforms even less trustworthy for consumers. I think it's absolutely imperative that small business owners take control of their own destiny and do not rely on these platforms as your only method of communicating with your audience. And there is no way to take control of your destiny if you intend on winging it with your business or marketing this year. So, today, we're diving into how to use data when setting your goals and building out your growth plans for the year. Erin, Naomi and Estelle signed up for PGSD in January 2022. They knew that they needed to get out of their own way in their businesses. And they knew that planning properly as a perfectionist was the first step… Erin is a copywriter who was spending an embarrassing amount (those are her words!) on courses, coaches and marketing advice only to self-sabotage when it came time to pitch herself. Naomi is a website designer and developer who was creating vague goals and plans (and endless to-do lists) to take her business full-time. Estelle is a fashion designer whose perfectionism handbrake was stopping her from following her launch plan and telling people about her designs. They all made the Three Month Commitment to Power Planning, set their Growth Goals and started planning properly. And what happened next was a little different for each of them… So I invited them on the podcast to talk about what to expect in your first 6 weeks of Power Planning. This episode is going to normalise what often happens when you start Power Planning so that you never mistakenly think you're off track. Find the full episode transcript and show notes at samlaurabrown.com/episode434. In This Episode You'll Learn: The hidden planning mistakes that Erin, Naomi and Estelle were making before PGSD How they knew it was the right time to sign up for PGSD How Power Planning helps you to be a more present parent What to expect in your first six weeks of Power Planning (what's normal and what isn't) The difference between time blocking and Power Planning How to keep Power Planning when a big life event comes up (like surgery) Exactly how Power Planning helps you figure out your needle movers Why it's ok if your Power Hour takes more than 60 minutes Announcement: PGSD is open for enrollment until 12 December 2023 at 11:59pm New York Time My 12-month group coaching program Perfectionists Getting Shit Done (aka PGSD) will teach you how to plan properly as a perfectionist and get out of your own way. The doors to Perfectionists Getting Shit Done are now open. Sign up today at samlaurabrown.com/pgsd (note: the doors close at 11:59pm New York time on 12 December 2023). You don't have to fully overcome perfectionism. Perfectionism isn't bad… And being a perfectionist doesn't mean you have to choose between having a tiny business or burning yourself out. Here's how to do it… 1. Stop using productivity tools that DO NOT work for your perfectionist brain (e.g. SMART goals, to-do lists, time blocking). 2. Replace them with productivity tools that DO work for your perfectionist brain (e.g. Growth Goals, Power Planning). I hosted The Perfectionism Reset Event and shared my exact process for becoming a productive perfectionist. Including the productivity mistakes that even the smartest perfectionists unknowingly make. I also taught something I usually only teach to my clients inside my program. (This is something super simple and practical that will set you up for your most productive and profitable year ever - and you're not going to learn it anywhere else). But this episode will be removed soon so don't procrastinate… Featured In The Episode: Watch The Perfectionism Reset Event Replay - samlaurabrown.com/the-perfectionism-reset-event Join Perfectionists Getting Shit Done (PGSD) - samlaurabrown.com/pgsd Take the perfectionism quiz: samlaurabrown.com/quiz Sign up for daily Perfectionist Power-Ups - samlaurabrown.com/power Follow me on Instagram @perfectionismproject Work With Me: My program Perfectionists Getting Shit Done (aka PGSD) teaches you my proven process for getting out of your own way in your business. Many agency owners want to see 20% growth (or more) year over year while staying profitable. This goal isn't entirely unrealistic, but the bigger you get, the harder it is to maintain such impressive numbers if you're not investing resources in the right things to support that growth. For this week's solocast, I have some homework for you to do to help you see if you're prepared to meet your growth goals in 2024. Don't worry; we will do it together while I walk you through how to crunch the numbers step-by-step. If you want to follow along, grab your P&L statement and our growth goal worksheet linked below, and get ready to do some math. By the end of this episode, you'll have a much clearer picture of where your agency is at financially and what level of growth you can support next year based on the numbers we calculate today. For 30+ years, Drew McLellan has been in the advertising industry. He started his career at Y&R, worked in boutique-sized agencies, and then started his own (which he still owns and runs) agency in 1995. Additionally, Drew owns and leads the Agency Management Institute, which advises hundreds of small to mid-sized agencies on how to grow their agency and its profitability through agency owner peer groups, consulting, coaching, workshops and more. A big thank you to our podcast's presenting sponsor, White Label IQ. They're an amazing resource for agencies who want to outsource their design, dev, or PPC work at wholesale prices.
