A Fire Danger Statement has been issued by the National Weather Service for all of South Central Texas for Monday, through 10 p.m. In addition to the critical fire danger, a Red Flag Warning is in place along and west of the I-35 and I-37 corridors. Under a Red Flag Warning, outdoor burning is prohibited. Any fires that develop could spread rapidly and be difficult to control. Firefighters from multiple Wilson County agencies are battling a large fire fanned by strong wind on C.R. 401 near F.M. 1922 west/northwest of Stockdale. The Wilson County Office of Emergency Management advises drivers between Stockdale and Floresville to avoid the vicinity of county roads 311 and 312, due to heavy smoke from the blaze impairing visibility. Over 29,000 acres in the greater Los Angeles area are on fire right now. The fires emerged after the Santa Ana winds swept into the Los Angeles area Tuesday. The largest is the Palisades fire, which is quickly burning through the Pacific Palisades and Malibu communities. It's one of four ongoing critical fires — only one of which is partially contained. Ahead of the windy week, a Red Flag Warning was issued for an increased fire risk due to the strong winds, low humidity and higher temperature. The dry and warm weather over the past few weeks have come together to create the perfect conditions for a wildfire. So much so that the National Weather Service issued a Red Flag Warning for 39 counties in central, northeast, northwest and southwest Minnesota. In this episode we discuss the meaning of a Red Flag Warning. Simply put, a red flag warning means there is a high danger of fire due to weather conditions. Dry air, high winds, and warm temperatures make the perfect conditions to create out of control fires. Be especially careful when smoking on these days. Throwing a lit joint, cigarette, or cigar on the ground could lead to a serious fire. If having a fire with a permit on these days be especially careful extinguishing it when done. Make sure to flip the fire as you water down the entire fire and surrounding area.
