Do you feel overwhelmed and unsure of how to create a life that you love? Are you ready to take small steps to make it happen? My friend Stephanie May Wilson, a writer, speaker, and podcaster, and I talk about the unique challenges and pressures women face in their 20s and 30s, a time Stephanie calls the "everything era." This is a period marked by significant life decisions, societal expectations, and a whole lot of figuring it out. Stephanie shares her own experiences navigating this tricky terrain and offers some valuable takeaways: Embrace the Power of Choice: The 'everything era' is YOUR time to take the reins and create the life YOU want. It's about aligning your decisions with your values, even when those values don't always align with traditional expectations. Transition to the "I Get to Create It Now Era": Life throws curveballs. Embrace those detours as opportunities for personal growth and course correction. Each challenge is a chance to refine your vision and build the life you love. Don't Be Afraid of Disagreements: Navigating this phase can lead to conflicts with loved ones, especially when it comes to life choices. Use these disagreements as opportunities for open communication and mutual understanding. Listen in as Stephanie shares her personal journey of embracing the "I get to create it now era" and how a move to Spain opened up a whole new chapter of her life.  Follow us on social media at @biancaolthoff and @smaywilson. Takeaways The 'everything era' refers to the period in a woman's life, typically in her 20s and 30s, when she is making significant life decisions and facing societal pressures. It's important to define what success and happiness mean to you personally, rather than conforming to societal expectations. The transition from the 'everything era' to the 'I get to create it now era' is a defining moment for personal growth and decision-making. You have the power to decide how you want to live your life and make choices that align with your values and desires. When life doesn't go as expected, you have options: you can quit, keep moving forward, change tactics, or ask for help. Surround yourself with a supportive inner circle who can provide guidance and advice, but ultimately trust yourself to make the best decisions for your life. Creating a life you love may involve making intentional decisions that fit for a season but may not be permanent. Taking control of your own life and making decisions that align with your values and desires can lead to personal fulfillment and happiness. ⋇ Convoy of Hope - Empowering Women and Girls Together Donate here ⋇ Bianca's new book Grit Don't Quit: Developing Resilience And Faith When Giving Up Isn't An Option ⋇ The Grit Don't Quit Bible Study is now available. ⋇ So grateful to our sponsors! There is an intricate dance between the difficulty of making changes in our lives and a profound trust in God to guide us through. When we have to make the decision to leave something behind and start anew, there is an emotional toll and a fear of the unknown. However, there is much to be learned from endings and new beginnings, and how sometimes we end up finding peace in the midst of our turmoil.  Emily P. Freeman is a spiritual director and author who hosts The Next Right Thing Podcast. Emily shares practical thoughts on how to navigate change, taken from her new book, How to Walk Into A Room: The Art of Knowing When to Stay and When to Walk Away. Stephanie May Wilson is a Tedx speaker, author, and podcaster who speaks to young adults who are facing crucial years where they will make some of their biggest life's decisions, and advises them on how they can faithfully move forward by trusting God with their questions and their fears.    Links, Products, and Resources Mentioned: Jesus Calling Podcast Jesus Calling Jesus Always Jesus Listens Past interview: Reba McEntire Upcoming interview: Jesse Hutch   Emily P. Freeman  “In reality, there is both beautiful and terrible in probably every space that we're in. And so if we decide to walk away, I think it's so good to do it with our eyes wide open, not just at the hesitations, but also to the gifts, so that we're having a truer experience of not only the room, but also our leaving of it.” - Emily P. Freeman “I truly believe God is always aware of us, that God is fully love and fully attentive and and God will not let us miss our own future. Which means that as I make my decisions, I'm not making them in a room by myself.” - Emily P. Freeman “Even if I make a move in a direction that turns out terrible and I learn something from it, God was still with me. And in that move, I am becoming someone. Because what is infinitely more important than the decision that I make, ultimately, is the person who I am becoming as I make my decisions.” - Emily P. Freeman  “True peace is not the absence of discomfort or conflict, but it is an inner brokenness and an inner wholeness and an inner knowing that even though chaos may be all around me, I can still be aligned with what I know and who I am, I can live in congruence with my own core values, with my true identity, with the common good, with my life and God.” - Emily P. Freeman “The ‘everything era' really is this super tricky period of time where a bunch of different forces are pushing and pulling us in different directions, and where I think it leaves us constantly feeling like we're falling short and falling behind.” - Stephanie May Wilson “I don't know that I knew that I got to participate in my life. "You get to decide." Really, you do! And whether that thought feels instantly empowering or overwhelming, Stephanie May Wilson is here to help. As an author, speaker, TEDxTalker, and popular podcaster with over 8 million downloads, Stephanie is no stranger to the "Everything Era" - the decade-ish where most of our wildly huge, defining, important milestone decisions are often made. Today on THRIVE, she brings her best tips on creating a life you love for YOU - not for your family, your friends, or what you think you "should" have done by now. Erica and Steph also break down discerning "God's plan" for your life and where your power lies along the way (spoiler alert: you have more say so than you think you do!). The conversation is candid and oh so real, with relatable ways to approach your decision making in a way that will make sense for you and have you moving forward in faith and confidence for what's to come. “Life is too short to wear shoes that don't fit - whether your feet, your style, or your life - especially when there are seven hundred gazillion other options to choose from. It's not selfish to want to find shoes that fit - in fact, it's silly not to.” CONNECT WITH STEPHANIE MAY WILSON  WEBSITE INSTAGRAM PODCAST CREATE A LIFE YOU LOVE BOOK   MORE EPISODES YOU'LL LOVELOVELOVE "HOLD EVERY THOUGHT CAPTIVE"...AND THEN WHAT? - WITH LAURA SMITH FEELING STUCK? Hey friends! Welcome to Girls' Night! Today, I'm so excited to read a section from my new book, Create A Life You Love.  Did you know that the average woman makes most of her biggest life decisions between her 25th and 35th birthdays? Who you are, what you want to do with your life, where you'll call home, who your people are, which person you'll share your life with, and whether you'll have kids—there's major pressure (internal, external, and even biological) to decide the major plot points of our lives, all within just a few short years. My book, Create a life You love, is a guided journey of self-discovery, helping you take the pressure off what you think your life is supposed to look like by now and intentionally, confidently, and authentically build the life you actually want to live — a life that looks and feels like YOU.  The book comes out THIS WEEK, and you can order or purchase a copy wherever books are sold. I'm SO excited and honored to share this with you. Okay, so for today's episode, I want to actually read a section of the book to you! Eeek, I can't wait to share this with you. Let's dive in! Hey friends! Welcome to Girls' Night! At the moment we're in between seasons here on the show. But while we're waiting for our next official season to begin, we thought this would be a great time to pull some of our favorite episodes out of the Girls Night archive. This is the perfect time to catch up on episodes you might have missed, or listen again to old favorites. Several months ago I got to catch up with a woman in our girls night community who has just graduated from college. She was in the thick of it, trying to answer the question we all find ourselves wrestling at one point or another — “What am I supposed to do with my life? (Or at least with the next few years)” She was holding her newly-minted degree in one hand, a few different opportunities in the other hand, and she had no idea what to do.  This moment felt like such a pivotal one — and she was absolutely feeling the pressure.  She reached out to me specifically because several of the things she was weighing — her specific degree, the specific opportunities she was considering — were crazily similar to the ones I was weighing when I first graduated from college. So we hopped on the phone and talked through it together. I shared with her some of the things I learned as I was taking my first steps into my career, away from my degree, into a job that paid next to nothing and made absolutely no sense. But also, it did make sense, and it led directly to everything I'm doing today. (Okay, not directly — there were several twists and turns and falls along the way as well). But as I was sharing that story with her, I realized that I'm not totally sure I've shared this story with you guys. And so that's what we're doing here today. I've brought my dear friend Marri back on the show to take over the host chair, and she's going to help me walk back through my own personal career story — where I started, and how I got to where I am today and all that I learned along the way. Whether you're just graduating college, or you're in a different life stage completely, I know there are so many women in our community who are trying to make some big decisions right now, or waiting for something, longing for something or hoping for something in their careers, but it just hasn't happened yet. I also know there are so many women who have a general idea of what they want to be doing in their careers but they have no clue how to actually get there. I also know there are so many of us who have no clue what we want to be doing, but we know for a FACT that it's not what we're doing today. This episode is for you. It's the story of where I started, where I am today, and all of the twists and turns that happened in the middle. I cannot wait to share this with you.  Learn more about your ad choices. (narra Stephanie May Wilson en el episodio 101 de “Girls Night": "How to Navigate Big Life Transitions with Faith").
