Another milestone in the city's endeavor to connect our trains to LAX is one step closer to reality. Santa Monica is considering to allow public alcohol consumption in portions of 3rd Street Promenade. We all love succulents, right? SLEEP NO MORE is a Los Angeles neo noir crime thriller directed by Antonia Boganovich, and Executive Produced by Peter Bogdanovich. Warren, once a master Shakespearian actor, is now a gambling drunk. Puck-like Samuel enchants crowds on the 3rd Street Promenade, reciting Shakespeare. And brother Beckett, a master pickpocket, makes his way through the unsuspecting crowd. When Warren gets in deep with a loan shark, his sons need to find a way to escape and like Samuel's beloved comic book hero, Phantom Halo, they must break free of the mud that traps them. There is counterfeit money, a Bentley, a beautiful woman, knives, guns and an ending that is more like a Shakespearean tragedy than a film about growing up in the urban decay of Hollywood. Featuring a cast that includes; Sebastian Roché, Thomas Brodie-Sangster, Luke Kleintank, Rebecca Romijn (Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, The Librarians, X-Men), Tobin Bell (The Saw series, The Flash), Ashley Hamilton (Gothic Harvest, Rules Don't Apply) and Jordan Dunn (Read the Room). Director and co-screenwriter Antonia Bogdanovich joins us for a revealing conversation about the traumatic origin story for Sleep No More, working with her dad on the project, her decision to re-cut and re-release the film after nearly 10 years, and growing up in a household steeped in arts, literature and film. SLEEP NO MORE is a Los Angeles-set neo noir crime thriller, combining grit and atmospheric style, occasional comic desperation and an inspired literary bent. As the 2014 film, director Antonia Bogdanovich's debut feature, neared its 10th anniversary, she wanted to revisit the film, a New York Times Critic's Pick (originally distributed as Phantom Halo), with a goal of releasing the version that she originally envisioned. So, as a tribute to her late father, multi-hyphenate Peter (who also executive produced), she set to work to produce SLEEP NO MORE: THE DIRECTOR'S CUT.Warren Emerson (Sebastian Roché, Queen of Tears, 1923, Big Sky, The Man in the High Castle) once a Shakespearian thespian of renown, is now a gambling-addicted drunk. Puck-like Samuel (Thomas Brodie-Sangster, The Artful Dodger, The Maze Runner series, The Queen's Gambit, Godless) enchants crowds on Santa Monica's 3rd Street Promenade reciting Shakespearian monologues his father all but beat into him while his brother Beckett (Luke Kleintank, FBI: International, Midway, The Man in the High Castle), a master pickpocket, makes his way through the unsuspecting crowd. When Warren gets in deep with a vicious loan shark (Gbenga Akinnagbe, Power Book II: Ghost, Asphalt City, Wu-Tang: An American Saga), his sons need to find a way to escape and like Samuel's beloved comic book hero, Phantom Halo, they must break free of the "mud" that traps them. I was born and raised in Brazil, moved to France when I was 14, and finally moved to LA when I was 24. Ever since I was a kid, I had a passion for dance and was self-taught. In France, I taught dance and performed in shows all over the country. When I came to America, I eventually signed on for a world tour with a US dance company where I was able to travel to over 54 countries dancing and teaching workshops for almost 6 years. A few years ago, I was on YouTube and came across a few videos about a guy flying to McDonald's on his paramotor! I thought it was so cool and wanted to learn more. I watched countless paramotor videos and joined a forum but initially, I couldn't afford the gear, so I waited few years and finally decided to go for it. I bought used gear on Craigslist and watched every video I could get my hands on. It took me forever to learn because nobody wanted to help and be liable if I was to get hurt so I had to self-train. Eventually, I kept pushing and became more and more passionate about the sport and with practice and luck took my first solo flight. From that first flight, I became addicted to flying. I had already been certified for skydiving, but this was a totally different experience. Soon when I wasn't teaching dance, I was using my spare time to fly. Eventually, after more flying and training I was able to connect with paramotor brands that reached out to have me join their team. On the side, I also had friends that became interested in flying so I would informally teach them and help them get started in the sport. As I kept sharing my newfound passion with people on YouTube, I decided to make the jump and get my certification in order to officially open my paramotor school! My background is in dance and when I moved to LA, it was tough starting as a dancer from scratch. For months I was in a cycle where I performed in street shows on 3rd Street Promenade in order to pay for my hostel stay, then I became homeless, and then would find gigs again. Eventually, I signed on for a world tour with a US dance company where I was able to travel to over 54 countries dancing and teaching workshops for almost 6 years but for those initial years it was a real struggle to find steady work. Back when I was dancing BAD was an acronym for Born A Dancer, but once I started flying, I realized that the best part in life was to be Beyond Any Definitions, meaning you don't have to stay stuck in whatever box you might have spent your entire life (for me it was a dancer) living; you can always become whatever makes you truly happy! STAYBAD, meaning to Stay Beyond Any Definitions, is to live life without limits and to push oneself to greater heights. One of my main pursuits is flying and teaching others to fly. It is extremely gratifying. As the instructor, my approach to teaching students differs from others in that I go at the student's pace and work individually with each student. I am also a dealer for all the gear a student could need so I help walk them through that process and find what's best for their flying journey. All my students become close friends and we have our own flying community where we meet up regularly to fly. It is a great forum to meet like-minded people and share the love of flight and I am always helping them along their journey. I teach everyday people how to fly into the sky! Paramotoring combines a paraglider with a motor that is used for flying. It is extremely gratifying to share the freedom and beauty of being outdoors in this unique way whether it's flying over sand dunes, the ocean, poppy fields, it's truly like nothing else. I have been a pilot now for six years and am a USPPA certified instructor as well as being certified in tandem flights. My flying school, Staybad Paramotor, is unique in that it's the only training school in the US to offer one on one classes until my student's first solo flight. I also offer unlimited training, meaning there's no minimum or cap on the classes and we are the ONLY paramotor school in L.A County with flying sites all over southern California. Typically, people can learn to fly paramotor within a week or if you're looking for a fun activity to do with friends/family, I offer scenic tandem flights along the coast where you can see what it's all about and start training. When I am not flying, dancing, or teaching, you can find me creating videos that combine my love of flying with original content sharing of my adventures. Pricing: Full unlimited Training $3000 Tandem Flight $250 (40min) Mention Voyage LA article and received 15% off Contact Info: Website: www.staybadparamotor.com Instagram: @staybadparamotor and @Danielostaybad Facebook: / 581128196326453 Youtube: / @staybad

A group of residents and business owners placed a “Santa Monica is not safe” banner in one of the city's most popular shopping areas.Video Tuesday morning showed the large banner posted next to the Adidas store at the 3rd Street Promenade where thousands of holiday shoppers and tourists are sure to see it.Just below the “Santa Monica is not safe” sign is a second message stating, “Crime… Depravity… Outdoor Mental Asylum.”A group called the Santa Monica Coalition claimed responsibility for the sign, which they hope will bring attention to the area's homeless and crime issues.“Take a look around downtown Santa Monica or any of the main business thoroughfares and you will notice that more than 40% of all businesses are shut down … Our city has been taken over by the mentally ill and addicted who desperately need help,” a portion of the message posted on the group's website reads. The coalition is calling on the city manager and other leadership to enforce laws and create new services for the mentally ill.Support the showSign Up For Exclusive Episodes At: https://reasonabletv.com/LIKE & SUBSCRIBE for new videos every day. https://www.youtube.com/c/NewsForReasonablePeople

This week on Redirected, I sat down with restaurant genius, Jeremy Fall. At only sixteen, Fall became the promotions manager of Avalon in Hollywood, producing large-scale events and booking talent at the star-making venue that showcased the first LA appearances of future platinum-selling Grammy winners. It was evident that Jeremy had an eye for potential, and that ability informed his next move: turning a hidden, forsaken attic off Sunset Boulevard into a legendary pop-up nightclub called Genesis that became a permanent fixture of Los Angeles nightlife. The next venture was Golden Box, a grungy disco that nodded at the clubs that defined generations prior like Area, Studio 54, and The Limelight, the places his father grew up attending in New York. Unsatisfied with simply serving cocktails, Jeremy then sought to embrace his passion for fine, unpretentious dining by turning the well-worn brunch restaurant concept on its head: he decided to serve breakfast for dinner, but not without stiff drinks. His spiked cereal milk concept, gained national media attention and the restaurant, Nighthawk: Breakfast Bar, was featured on Food Network’s Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives as well as Eater’s Hottest Restaurants In America list among others. Re-contextualizing a familiar or even nostalgic experience and giving it an elevated twist became Jeremy’s strongest hand, and he played it successfully at his second restaurant, Tinfoil: Liquor & Grocery, a modern take on the bodega with a discreet deli serving some of the most inventive sandwiches in Los Angeles featuring house-cured meats and homemade sides. Meanwhile, he expanded the Nighthawk concept nationally with a fast-casual location in Chicago while leveling up at home with Paperboy, a classic pizza joint at the highly-trafficked 3rd Street Promenade in Santa Monica and Easy’s, a modern take on the classic American Diner inside the iconic Beverly Center. This entire time, Jeremy never stopped thinking of himself as a curator, the guy responsible for setting the tone of an entire night by creating an experience for all of the senses. His friends in music had become global superstars and he knew there was an opportunity to marry those passions. In 2019, his restaurant group was acquired by K2 restaurants, a deal that gave him more time to focus on the next chapter of his career as he opened Mixtape, a concept that fused music with dining in a way that the city hadn’t experienced previously. He became the first food personality managed by Roc Nation (the entertainment conglomerate owned by legendary New York rapper Jay-Z). Hello everybody! About a week or so ago Facebook was kind enough to let me know that I was “celebrating” my 12 year Faceversary. I opened my Facebook account in early March 2007. It was the first social media platform I joined. I could have joined My Space but for some reason I picked Facebook. Maybe it was the creepy rumors about My Space at the time. Who knew that 12 years later Facebook would become creepy in its own right, but that’s probably a topic for another podcast. It’s hard to believe it’s been that long when I think about it, but I could have sworn I have been on it longer.I kind of think of social media years like dog years. Where does the time go? If I want to find out where the time went I can usually find what happened on Facebook or most recently Twitter and Instagram. How long have you been on social media? What was the first social media platform you joined? Was it My Space or Facebook? How long have you been on Social Media?Where do you spend most of your time?Since back in 2007 I’ve actually enjoyed social media quite a bit and even learned a few things from it. I actually launched my first podcast in the summer of 2016. It’s called the “How Social Are You Podcast”. My goal was to ask the question “are we more or less social because of social media”.Like most people I got on Facebook because my family and friends from High School and College were on it. It was like a big high school cafeteria with even more people from outside my school mixed in. I wanted to keep in touch with them and share what was happening in my life with them. Is that why you joined Social Media? The more I used Facebook the more I realized that I was getting sucked into it and it was consuming way too much of my time. I have to admit that whether it’s Facebook, Instagram or now Twitter I have a tendency to spend more time than I probably should.I learned that it helps to have boundaries for Social Media use. Also to have filters on the information I’m consuming on Social Media. All of the major platforms give you the ability to block or mute topics or information you don’t want to see. On Facebook I have certain “friends” who I don’t see their posts. I’m still friends with them but I have unfollowed them for a variety of reasons. It could be political or just the “energy” they put out on the platform. I like my facebook feed to be positive and uplifting and for the most part if is.Do you do the same? How do you deal with topics you aren’t interested in or energy you don’t want to receive?I use Twitter as more of an information source even though I do follow some people who I’m friends with. I have created “Lists” of people who I don’t even follow but I view them as subject matter experts on topics I’m interested in like USC Football or Politics or Healthy Aging.I mainly use Instagram as a vision board of beautiful images and places I plan to visit, as well as inspirational quotes. Instagram is also the place where I’m able to follow my daughters, Molly & Riley as well as my sister and my nieces and nephew there. Piper also has a page that I maintain for her although I haven’t really added much to it over the last few years but I do tag her in every photo I post of her on my account @mlindheimer Instagram is really more of a place for Millenials and Gen Z anyway. Are you on more than one Social Media platform? Do you have different uses for them like I do? The more I got involved with Social Media, I’m a partner in a travel influencer account called @LuxuryWorldTraveler, the more I started to realize that people were becoming more connected to their phones than to the people around them. I was guilty of this too.A few years ago my wife was working in a restaurant in Santa Monica near the Pier and 3rd Street Promenade and she used to comment that she’d walk up to many of her tables to greet them and would have to wait for them to look up because they were so busy taking the right selfie, scrolling Instagram or messaging someone that wasn’t even there. They were at dinner with people but they weren’t there at dinner. Do you know what I mean? Have you ever experienced this?It was really around that time I decided to launch the the How Social Are You Podcast. It was because of what I was experiencing personally and what I was seeing around me. I wanted to bring some value to my audience just like I do now with Aging Is Optional Radio. I thought it would be interesting to share the How Social Are You Podcast with you as well. Maybe you’ll receive some value from it so here’s the first episode.Hello everybody I’d like welcome you to The How Social Are You Podcast this is Mark Lindheimer and you are listening to episode number one! Today we're going to introduce you to the podcast, share a little bit about me and more importantly what I hope to accomplish with this podcast so let's get started. So, what do I want to discuss on this podcast? Well, I’d really like to interview people about,, you know, what's going on in social media, who's using it, and how, and what are the trends in social media. But a lot of podcasts are probably talking about that already. More importantly I want to talk about how social media is affecting us as social beings and society as a whole and what part is it playing in our culture.A little bit about me. I live in Los Angeles and I'm a native Southern Californian. I'm a husband and a father of three beautiful girls. I’m a partner in an Instagram based marketing company called Luxury World Traveler. We have millions of loyal travel obsessed followers who was recently recognized by Forbes.com as one of the top ten most influential profiles to follow. So I've had some experience with social media.I'm also a baby boomer and so I've experienced the amazing trajectory personal technology has taken over the last twenty years or so and from the PC to the cell phone to message boards to Facebook and the rapid advances in social media from there. The things and products and technologies that we're dealing with on a day to day basis.I personally use almost every social media application except for My Space and I currently have active accounts on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Snapchat. I'll admit I've found the social media applications to be useful, pretty entertaining, frustrating, and absorbing sometimes all the same time.I've also noticed that as social media has become more and more prevalent it appears that people are interacting at the human level less and less. Maybe you've noticed this? I've been wondering lately, what's the impact social media is having on us as social beings?I hope to explore many of these topics on the podcast. I want to interview a variety of people on how they're currently using social media, their observations about social media's impact on our culture, and if they have experienced any personal challenges as a result. Any recommendations or strategies they might have in order to, you know, gain some value from social media without allowing it to take over their lives. So that's the podcast in a nutshell. I hope you find it entertaining, that it helps you take a look at how you're using social media and how it's impacting you as a social being. And that you learn something that you can implement into your own life.I want to thank you again for listening. You can find the podcast on stitcher, on a speaker and Google play The How Social Are You Podcast . If you have any questions or comments or if you want to contact me you can reach me on Twitter or Instagam @mlindheimer that's mlindheimer or you can email me at howsocialareyoupodcast@Gmail.com. Until next time thanks everybody.I hope you enjoyed that episode and you’ll subscribe to it. There are 19 episodes with different topics and interviews that you might find interesting. I also wanted to share a few statistics with you from this article I found called - 12 Outstanding Statistics On Baby Boomers and Social Media. I’ve also linked the article from Medium up above here in the show notes82.3% of baby boomers belong to at least one social media site. (Source DMN3)Baby boomers spend 27 hours per week online, which is two hours more per week than those who are between 16 and 34. (Source Colorado University)Baby boomers are less likely to use other social media platforms like Twitter and Instagram.Baby boomers take action based on what they see on social media, and most of the time it’s focused on finding more information. (Source DMN3)This one is kind of funny - Videos that are slower paced and have a great deal of information are more likely to appeal to Baby Boomers than faster paced videos with too many visuals. (Source QuickSprout)Do you fall into some of these statistical categories? What do you plan to do with this information? I’d love to hear what you think. You can check out more information in the article linked above.I also wanted to share an episode of an Amazon Prime original show called Black Mirror. The episode is called Nosedive and you may or may not be familiar with it. I linked the IMDB to it above. Here’s the Nosedive episode description:A woman who lives in a world where most people are completely overwhelmed by the madness of being popular and important in social media ratings earns an invitation from her best childhood friend to her marriage, but certain unexpected occasions will try to stop her from reaching her destiny, had she been able to attend the wedding? There’s also a board game and app called Black Mirror: Nosedive where you can play against your friends for Social Media score superiority! Seriously...This type of social media rating is already starting to be implemented in other parts of the world like China. I view this episode and game as really a cautionary tale. What are your thoughts? Have you noticed this in your life? Thanks again for joining me on Aging Is Optional Radio. I hope you found some value in this episode. That’s really my goal. You can find the podcast on iTunes and I’d really appreciate it if you would subscribe and give it a rating and I love receiving comments! You can also find it in the Google Play Store, on TuneIn Radio, on Stitcher, PocketCasts, CastBox and Pippa. And I’ll be adding more channels in the future including YouTube. If you like what you hear please be sure to share the podcast with your friends and on social media. You can also reach me directly at mark@agingisoptionalradio.com if you have any questions or want to suggest any topics. Until next time, Thanks, everybody! Born in a small town in upstate New York, pop-music phenom, Andy Grammer (http://andygrammer.com/)earned his place in music the hard way. He spent years busking on the 3rd Street Promenade in Santa Monica, honing is voice and skills as a singer, songwriter and also learning what draws attention and makes people feel good. He’s since become the first male pop star in a decade to reach the Top 10 at Adult Pop Radio with “Keep Your Head Up” and “Fine By Me,” from his 2011 self-titled debut. His second album, Magazines or Novels, featured the triple-platinum smash “Honey, I’m Good,” which was one of the best-selling songs of 2015, and the certified gold anthem “Good to be Alive (Hallelujah).”Now, with mega-hits and a successful career, he’s thinking a lot about how to speak his own truth. The concept of honesty—what it means and how to attain it—offers both inspiration and challenge to one of the most successful pop artists to emerge in recent years. You can see this reflected in his recent album, “The Good Parts,” which has racked up over 400 million total streams. He’s also launched a new podcast by the same name, where he sits down with people to explore the stories they often never share publicly. In today’s conversation, we explore where Andy came from, how his parents and his faith have shaped him and how, now as a husband and father, he’s re-examining his life and work. We also dive into how he is paying fierce attention to crafting a career that allows him to be present and also feel fully-expressed and alive and, at the heart of it all, be of service to his audience.+--------------------------+Check out our offerings & partners:Realtor.com: No matter what you want in your next home, you need realtor.com — The Home of Home Search. The Great Courses PLUS: Get a full month of unlimited access for FREE, visit TheGreatCoursesPlus.com/goodlifeBOMBAS - Get 20% off your first order, visit bombas.com/goodlife.Kopari: Go to KopariBeauty.com/goodlife and save five-dollars off your first order.
Christopher Scott never wanted to dance. Now he's a three-time Emmy nominee for Outstanding Choreography. After his mother packed him and his sister from Maryland to Hollywood to give them better opportunities, Scott defied having to enter a dance class, opting for track and field instead. "If you had told me I was going to be a dancer I would have laughed in your face," he says. He entered Hollywood High School in the 9th grade, and applied and was accepted into the performing arts magnet program. It was in his very first semester that he checked out the school's production of West Side Story (his sister was in it and dating the "coolest guy in school") and out of sheer boredom learned the songs and the dance moves and landed a part in the production. During his four years in the program, he had leading roles in several stage productions and studied various styles of dance, particularly excelling in tap. To hone his tap dancing skills, he spent many weekends as a street performer on the Venice Beach boardwalk and the 3rd Street Promenade in Santa Monica, California. In 11th grade, three-time Emmy winning actress and choreographer Debbie Allen (and future So You Think You Can Dance judge) came to the school to audition dancers for the opening of the American Music Awards with Mariah Carey. "I feel like the luckiest kid in America," he says. It was his first paying job and when he got his paycheck (about $650) he thought 'I think I'm gonna go with this,' and his dancing career began. Since then Chris has worked with renowned artists such as Selena Gomez, Miley Cyrus, Imagine Dragons, Khalid, and Gloria Estefan, and has worked on a variety of film and TV projects including the Emmy-nominated 82nd Academy Awards, Step Up 4: Revolution, Step Up 5: All In, Dancing with the Stars, and America’s Best Dance Crew. In 2009, Scott teamed up with Harry Shum, Jr. to choreograph the super hero inspired web series The Legion of Extraordinary Dancers, aka The LXD. An experiment in storytelling through dance, the series is the brainchild of writer/director/producer Jon Chu. In 2011, Scott made his So You Think You Can Dance debut and thereafter made frequent visits choreographing contestants' duets and group routines. He received Outstanding Choreography Emmy nominations for his work on the show in 2012 and 2014. In my interview with the three-time Emmy nominee and Scott talks about his leap from dancer to choreographer, his love of props in routines, reveals his advice for new dancers and the song that got away - the only tune he hasn't been able to snag the rights to (yet). Christopher Scott is nominated for Outstanding Choreography for So You Think You Can Dance. The Emmy voting period ends August 27th at 10pm PST. The Creative Arts Emmys will be a two-night affair on Saturday, September 8th and Sunday, September 9th. The 70th Primetime Emmy Awards will be Monday, September 17th. This interview runs 25m. Opening: So You Think You Can Dance theme Closing "Say You Won't Let Go" cover by Boyce Avenue (used by Christopher Scott in one of his nominated dance routines featuring Allison and Logan)
I'm going live ... Oh, I'm live. I think I'm live. Here I am. Here I am, world. Look at this ugly fucking wall behind me. I think I could have a beautiful background. Wouldn't you? Oh, hi. Hi person. Hello person number one whose jumped on my live stream. What's happening? What is up? Beth, welcome. Welcome to the live stream in the hotel from hell. Alright. I've so many things that I could say. Joseph's announced himself by saying Joseph. Hi Joseph. Hey Leah. Background that I ... I hate this background, it's so ugly. It's the ugliest wall I've ever seen in my life. Poor Kelly, he's sitting over there, his head tilted... Okay, Joseph just gave his phone number. Can you send a photo of yourself before you give your phone number? And resume. Matt, thank you for asking if I'm well. I am actually well at the core, but I'm in an absolutely foul and shitty mood. I'm happy about my new yellow top, though. Although, I'm not sure that it's too much yellow potentially. What do you think? How much yellow do you think is too much yellow? But, I'm in like the most grumpy bitch-ass mood in the world. My poor best friend, Kelly, who's sitting right over there, hidden behind the camera, well to the side of it, basically has had to listen to me storm back into the room like an angry bear with a sore head, and just bitch about every possible thing. And it's all valid, though. As she just said herself, they call themselves the five star hotel, but they take care of none of the small details. And what I notice is, I'm used to being treated and taken care of in a very particular way. Which is to say, VI fucking P way, and everything should always be flow and smooth. Who said I always look awesome? Thank you. Looks like lime yellow. I don't mind a bit of lime yellow. Give me a second, and I'm gonna share this live stream over to my personal page, and that sort of thing. It's not even the little things. It's every fucking thing. Their heads are up their asses here. Shangri-La, Santa Monica. Do not stay here. And to make matters worse, I stayed here last month, and the same thing happened, and yet here I am again. Because I'd already pre-paid for this stay. And that was my mistake. Is my mistake is thinking that that meant anything instead of just cancelling it regardless, which is what I should have done. Thank you for all the comments. Shangri-La, Santa Monica. They have not got a single piece of their shit together. They probably need help taking an actual shit, that's how much shit they don't have together. But, the location is freakin' phenomenal, like you're just right here near the 3rd Street Promenade and the ... Like I'm looking at the ocean right now. The views are phenomenal as well. I don't believe they do know who I am, and I did even say to Kelly yesterday, I was like, "I know this is really wanky, but I'm really at the point where I'm very tempted to say, 'Do you realise I have over 100,000 social media follows?'" Or something like that. Because I feel like if you knew that, then maybe some treatment would be different here. But then I also feel like the problem is that they just literally actually don't have a clue, and they don't get it. Which is just one of those situations in life, where when you notice that somebody doesn't have a clue and they don't get it, like it could be somebody in your personal life, it could be a client, it could be a friend that's somehow transporting themselves along from previous phases of friendships, and they're not really keeping up with the next level new you, and nor should they have to, by the way, keep up with anything. But you've noticed that somebody or something in your life doesn't get it, because if you were being bitchy 'cause it's totally 'cause they're freakin' moronic. Or, they just have a different alignment, or a different value system. It's not about LA. I come to LA every month or two. Never in my life have I experienced such appalling overall, wonky standards. I'm not going to say like, bad service, because they certainly seem to want to be helpful. I just think they don't know what helpful means, or they're just ... Okay, they're at the door now. Maybe they heard me, maybe they're on the live stream. Anyway, when you notice that somebody didn't get it- It's okay, it's coffee. Which is another thing entirely, by the way. The reason that the coffee had to be called to the room, because we were told we would get a coffee maker in the room. And then we never did. Suck. You know, I'm like happy with anything. I just needed to get things off my chest. Anyway, you just eliminate them. That was the point that I was trying to make. That when you notice that somebody in your life doesn't get that you don't- ... have to kill them, that's the one I meant by eliminate. That's definitely not what I meant. You eliminate yourself out of their area, and out of their space. And you go and create your own new environment- ... and space. Where it's meant to be. Having a small moment of panic about the coffee. But actually, the reason that I got on this live stream was not even to talk about that. I just needed to get it off my chest. Oh, if I told you all the things, you would honestly start sending me gifts straight away. The only thing is you wouldn't be able to send them here, because they don't accept packages for customers here, which is another thing. So, anyhow, the reason that I've gone on this live stream is because I had as often happens, a tonne of audio messages from clients, which all related to a certain thing. And then I noticed that I was saying the same thing over and over again, so I was like, clearly I need to tell the whole world then. Do you love how over it I am that I just keep on bitching about the hotel while the guy's in the room? Thank you. Do you want to say hi to the people or not really? With my venom eyes? She's got venom under her eyes. Snake venom. Look at them. They look fabulous. But they look fabulous enough. She's a real person, I wasn't pretending that there's another person in the room. Sometimes I pretend. You never know. Ah, yeah, then my suitcase went missing. It was a whole ordeal. Honestly, I could talk for fifty minutes for all the things that went wrong at this hotel last month and this month. Oh, and then to make it even funnier, they apologised and said they'll send me a free bottle of wine, a bottle of house wine, right? But I accepted graciously, because I am a very gracious person, as you can see. And then like, the next ... Later that night, or whatever, I went downstairs, and the guys like, "Oh, I'm sorry again" and, "Did you enjoy your wine?" And I'm like, "It never came." Of course, at that point I was just like, I've embraced that it is what it is. But I've only got myself to blame, because I'm back here again. Like never again. Never again! You heard it here. Don't tag them in, because maybe they'll kick us out now, and we do have one night left, and we're just gonna sleep here tonight. Otherwise, we're gonna go crash with Chris Duffey in Venice Beach. Okay. Alignment. Here's what I said to a client today, and it came up with several clients. I said... She said to me, "I'm trying to figure out why I'm consistently not achieving this one particular goal," that she has in her business, right? And I said, and this is what I wanted to share with you, I said, "Well, if you're consistently not achieving something and yet there's this other area, this other big area that in this particular case I'm aware of for her and she's aware of them and we're both aware of, this other area that is relevant to your alignment and what you know what you're meant to be doing, and yet you're not taking care of it, you're not honouring it, you're essentially not pressing play in that area. Regardless of what your reasons are no matter how valid or not valid they are, then you're blocking your ability to receive to moving to flow to manifest all things. So, not pressing play in one area is equivalent to not pressing play in all areas. Being out of integrity or out of alignment in one area is the same as being out of integrity and out of alignment in other, even all areas. And so if you're noticing that you're feeling frustration like maybe your income's not going how you want it to go right now, or you're not signing up clients for these, or you're finding it difficult to receive [inaudible 00:08:11] maybe, or your list isn't growing, or maybe everything just feels kind of like hard going with money, with business, or maybe you feel like no matter what I do, my body doesn't change, or life doesn't feel fun or flow or whatever it is, right? If you feel that if a girl or a dream or something that you're meant to achieve ... Welcome to your first live. Hi there, you've missed the fun part already, but you can watch the replay. If you feel that a girl or a dream or something that you're wanting to achieve is just not coming to fruition and you really feel like, buy why, because I've been focusing on this for ages and I've been trying to achieve this for ages, and I've even been doing the work. The first thing, well one of the first things I would then look at, or at least what we're talking about today is, alright, cool, where ... you know, totally, supposedly, unrelated area of your life, are you not owning your shit? Or are you not following your own values? Or your own alignment? Or are you just not doing the fucking work or not pressing play, right? So for example, I knew that for as long as I continued to stay in my marriage, which as most people that know me know that I left sometime quite a while back now, several years nearly. But I was remaining in that marriage for quite a few years when I knew that we had to do something about it, right? I was conscious because I did know the stuff already. I knew that I'm definitely limiting creative flow and abundance in my business and in my life because I'm not in integrity and I'm not in alignment in this relationship. I'm not supposed to still be in this relationship. And I knew that, right? But, I was like, not ready, or whatever. I didn't choose to be ready. So I was conscious and I still didn't choose. And I think sometimes that's just is what it is, right? You can be like, "Yeah, I'm aware of what I'm doing." And then eventually of course, I got to a point where I felt emotionally able and ready to choose it and I made my decision, but maybe you don't even know this stuff, right? Maybe you don't even realise the powerful carry-on effect that occurs when you're not doing what you're supposed to be doing what's right for your soul and your values and your life, and you're thinking, well, it just makes no sense that my income's not growing or my business is not flowing, or whatever along those lines, because I am doing all the work. The simple solution is just, and I do this exercise pretty frequently actually, maybe every month or so whenever I think of it, to sit down and write out the word integrity at the top of the page and just write where am I not in integrity. And it can be the smallest little things. It could even be something so simple, and I've had this conversation with so many clients. This is really random. I'm going to give you a tiny example. Not washing your make up off your face before you go to bed at night. Like if that is something important to you, if it's not, it doesn't matter. But if you think that that's important, which I personally do, and then you don't do it because you're essentially, I don't know, in some sort of bizarre resistance about cleaning your own face, which for whatever reason is exceptionally common with women, I know that, then you're not in alignment. You're not in integrity. You're not honouring your own values in this case. So, that's something that I have done a lot, right? I'm like fucking going to bed with my face dirty and I don't care. Nobody can stop me. And it's these bizarre form of resistance that even the smallest things that are resistance against your own value system, are going to impact your ability to receive in all areas. And here's the reason why. And this will make total sense for you. I'm going to pause for effect. The reason is, it's a flow thing, right? In order to receive money with these, results with these, results in business, in money, in your body, in relationships, in all areas of life, we simply need flow. Flow is the pathway that allows you to receive. Now flow can sometimes feel bumpier. It can feel like turmoil or there can be purposeful pain as part of flow as well, by the way, but flow is still essentially a forward flow based emotion. So anything that's not in alignment or where you're not in integrity or you're not attending to something, you can look at it like it's essentially a road block to flow. It's like, okay, flow is me, going this way, doing its thing with these, and it just kind of happens because this is who I am and this is how I shop, and I travel down the path this way, and now I'm just allowing all these hurdles and road blocks and bumps in the road to either take me off path or stop me or distract me or I bump over them and I fall over and I hurt myself. And either way, I've switched out of flow. So if you want to switch back into flow, and you want to really know that you're showing up to get the results you want in a particular area of your life, then my advice to you today is to just take kind of like a broad step back. Take like a broad, big scope overview of what's going on in your life and just be honest with yourself. Where am I not in integrity? Where am I not in alignment? Where am I not honouring my own values? Where am I not taking care of myself? So you can look at where I'm not in integrity or where I'm not in alignment, but you could also look at ... you could flip it the other way and simply look at what are all the things that I would be doing if I was truly honouring myself. And I don't just mean like, fucking show up and hustle. That's not what I mean. I mean, everything can be [inaudible 00:13:11], can be thought of an adventure, can be all those things. Literally just had a baby about this. Still going to be what's in alignment and what's not in alignment. Alignment doesn't mean doing more like quote on quote work, the work is all the work. Anyway, the work is the work. I'm leaving. I'm going to go. Just like that. I'm in total flow and I could totally happily preach for another hour, but I have a client call right now with one of my amazing inner circle clients, so I'm going to leave you with that short message and I nearly thought I will wait until later to talk about it, but I thought you know what, because I only have like 30 minutes, but it was coming through right then, so I hit you with it, watch the replay, enjoy my little rant at the start. And I also want to quickly mention to you that Empress begins today. It is literally beginning right now today. Empress is my four week one-on-one. There are a few places still left. I'm still communicating with a few people over message. You can still sign up. You would definitely want to message me quickly now over on my personal Katrina Ruth profile. It's four weeks one-on-one with me. Empress. Claim your rightful place now. I don't have any more details that I can give you right now 'cause I got to jump off, but if you're curious and you've been feeling like it's time to step up and or you know that I'm the mentor for you and you're ready to go all in, or you think you might be, then just PM me and I will get you all of the details of all that and obviously investment and that sort of thing as well. Have an amazing rest of the day. Thank you for coming along real quick and don't forget, life is now, press play.
Eric Kufs got his start in a New York indie-folk trio called Common Rotation. He and his bandmates - Adam Busch and Jordan Katz - were childhood friends who had come of age together, started a band, forged an original sound and established themselves with relentless tours and several albums. Before long, their hard work had paid off and they'd collaborated with the likes of They Might Be Giants, Indigo Girls and Dan Bern. When Busch's acting career picked up speed in California, the trio decided to uproot the entire ensemble and Kufs and Katz relocated to Los Angeles with Busch. The saturated scene in LA prompted Kufs to find new ways to make a living at music. Sometimes, necessity is the mother of reinvention. Kufs started playing hours-long busking gigs on Santa Monica's highly trafficked 3rd Street Promenade shopping and dining district. The gigs were not theater shows where a captive audience sat and listened politely in their seats, but the transient nature of the steady stream of passersby provided Kufs with an opportunity disguised as a challenge. Kufs had always been prolific - he already had nearly a thousand original songs in his repertoire - and he now complemented his sizable catalog of originals with reimagined cover songs, providing yet another opportunity to expand on his considerable talent as a singer, guitarist and songwriter. The extended sets allowed him time to experiment; he could essentially profile the shoppers and revelers passing by and cater his song selection to garner the most attention. After all, attention meant tips and tips is income. It's an important lesson to learn that only foolhardy performers neglect to read their audiences. Years on in California, Kufs is still at it, making a living in music with his unique blend of folk and blue-eyed soul. With Common Rotation currently on hiatus, Kufs has established himself as a solo performer in his own right with a new EP called Sense and Nonsense in Psychology, Part One and a steady performance calendar.
