Fergie – “Fergalicious” ⭐️ 2.1 / 10 Label: A Delicious Flop Pastry RecordsAh yes, “Fergalicious” – the 2006 cultural artifact that dared to ask: what if a spelling bee had a sugar crash during a rave at Claire's Accessories?Fergie, freshly emancipated from the Black Eyed Peas' deeply important catalog of "My Humps" and "Let's Get Retarded," decided it was time to define her solo artistry by shouting her name over a beat that sounds like a Fisher-Price drum machine possessed by Satan's annoying little cousin. There's a beat, technically. There are lyrics, allegedly. Will.i.am, never one to skip a paycheck or a confusing production decision, blesses the track with all the subtlety of a jackhammer in a porcelain museum. Together, they craft a song that's somehow both aggressively confident and terminally insecure – like if Regina George had access to FruityLoops and unresolved trauma.Lyrically, it's a feminist manifesto if feminism were exclusively about making boys drool while you “be up in the gym just workin' on your fitness.” Fergie is your witness. We know this because she tells us. Over. And over. And over.To its credit, “Fergalicious” is deeply committed to being what it is: a chaotic, hyper-glossed sugar rush of ego and electroclash. It is the sonic equivalent of chewing 14 pieces of Hubba Bubba while being screamed at by your older cousin who just discovered ringtones. You don't listen to “Fergalicious.” You survive it. You emerge on the other side a little dumber, a little gayer, and a lot more appreciative of silence.Recommended if you like:Spelling your name in publicThe scent of pink glitterThe phrase “tasty, tasty” shouted at 120 bpmFinal thought: It's not so much a song as it is a personality disorder set to a ringtone.DUBBY DUBBY is declaring WAR on big Energy! This week, we're joined by podcast legend Alex Goldman—of Reply All and HyperFixed fame—to dive into the high-speed legacy of J.J. Fad's 1988 hit “Supersonic.” Whether you remember it from the radio or recognize it as the backbone of Fergie's “Fergalicious,” this track's influence is undeniable. We explore the group's origins, their ties to N.W.A., and how “Supersonic” broke barriers for female rappers at a time when the genre was dominated by men. Along the way, we discuss regional hip hop influences, rap rivalries, and why J.J. Fad's impact goes far beyond a one-hit wonder. Ever find yourself reminiscing about those wild nights out in Pacific Beach, or maybe just trying to forget them? We've all got those stories, and today we're sharing ours—a hilariously unforgettable night filled with Fergalicious tunes, vodka Red Bulls, and a friend's epic bar mishap that still makes us laugh. As we chat about our evolving nightlife preferences, we nod to our past while explaining why quality now trumps quantity when it comes to our social endeavors. It's a nostalgic stroll down memory lane, where the good old days meet the wisdom of age.Switching gears, we tackle a topic that's both serious and necessary—the representation of Black communities in politics. Why does there seem to be a disconnect between the Democratic Party and the very communities they aim to represent? We dig into the frustrations felt by Black voters, the missed connections, and the perceived pandering. It's a conversation that challenges political norms, calling for Democrats to develop a more genuine and cohesive platform. Through sports analogies and personal observations, we explore how this disconnect manifests and what can be done to bridge the gap.And of course, what's a discussion on politics without venturing into the realm of billionaires like Donald Trump? We question his unique appeal and consider what a future term might look like under his leadership. From identity politics to the role of Kamala Harris and beyond, this episode unpacks the complexities of voter dynamics and political identities. Whether reflecting on past presidents, debating the appeal of the "alpha male," or exploring the nuanced experiences of Black women in politics, we bring insights, laughter, and candid reflections on the ever-evolving political landscape. Join us for a session that promises to entertain and enlighten.Support the show

Next, Kirk tells a story about senior citizens continuing to be open to change and exploring life regardless of their age. Later they ask if there are any things that we shouldn't start over at. Nothing says "Happy New Year" like a recap of the (not) disaster movie, 'Poseidon!' First, Chelsea and Donny go over their highlights and lowlights of 2022 and begin manifesting for 2023 (including, but certainly not limited to, a Clearly Canadian sponsorship). Then, Donny manifests a wish that he was… literally anywhere else as Chelsea goes on a Ted Talk tangent about what constitutes a disaster film. The Cuties submit their worst New Year's Eve, Donny shares more stories about peeing himself and his fear of escalators while Chelsea shames one of her wedding guests and admits that she'd leave children (not hers) behind in a tragedy. Matt talks about his favorite party songs to get the party started and includes the last song to end the event. Important Links View the complete list of best party songs. See all Wedding Songs Podcast episodes Podcast Transcript Welcome to the 84th episode of the Wedding Songs Podcast. I am Matt Campbell and today I am going to have one of my favorite, and I know everyone else's favorite, topics. Best party songs. These may not be the best songs to get everyone out on the dance floor (although I am going to include those also), but these could also be background songs as well. And, also songs that are trending right now. If you prefer to read the list or listen to the list, you can do so on our website MyWeddingSongs.com. While you are there make sure to sign up for our monthly newsletter. In it, we tell you about all the new songs released in the prior month and also great trending songs and forgotten hits you can play on your wedding day. This episode is going to be a little bit different, I am not going to include song lyrics because I am just going to go thru the 200 songs just to categorize those by genre and a couple of events as well (I will get to that in just a second). So, speaking of starting off, I am going to start off with 37 songs I think could really get everyone out on the dance floor. They are party songs and ones that you want to make sure you at least have in your music library. The first one is “I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me)” by Whitney Houston, “Yeah” by Usher, “Dancing Queen” by ABBA, the great Disco song. “Fergalicious” by Fergie, “Get Low” by Lil Jon, and the East Side Boyz featuring Ying Yang Twins, and “This Is How We Do It” by Montell Jordan. This one is exploding recently because it is in a car commercial. “Uptown Funk” by Mark Ronson feat. Bruno Mars, “We Found Love” by Rihanna featuring Calvin Harris. This is a great song to really get the party started and get everybody excited. Next is “I Gotta Feeling” by Black Eyed Peas and “September” by Earth Wind and Fire. One of the great dance songs of all time. “Dynamite” by Taio Cruz and the newer song, “About Damn Time” by Lizzo. “Shut Up And Dance” by WALK THE MOON. There are a few Michael Jackson songs we can have on the list, but it seems like “Billie Jean” is on everybody's playlist. “Footloose” by Kenny Loggins with the right crowd, and “C'Mon ‘N Ride It (The Train)” by Quad City DJ's, which came out in the '90s and will get everybody doing the train around the dance floor. Next is “The Humpty Dance” by Digital Underground who recently lost their lead singer. “Get Down On It” by Kool and The Gang and “Baby Got Back” by Sir Mix-A-Lot. “Hey Ya!” by Outkast, and “Friends In Low Places” by Garth Brooks is the first Country song on the list, which is a sing-along song you can have on your list. “Timber” by Pitbull featuring Kesha, “No Hands” by Waka Flocka Flame and Roscoe Dash featuring Wale, “24K Magic” by Bruno Mars, and of course the “Cha-Cha Slide” by Mr. C if you want to have a group dance song, along with the next son “Cupid Shuffle” by Cupid. “Cotton Eye Joe” by Rednex and “Hot In Herre” by Nelly. One of the great party songs, “Shots” by LMFAO, and the second Country song, “Fishin' In The Dark” by Nitty Gritty Dirt Band. Listen to the lyrics to make sure they are Wedding appropriate if you are going to play it at a wedding and your Wedding couple is OK with it. “Mr. Brightside” by The Killers, “Time Of Our Lives” by Pitbull featuring Ne-Yo. Another group dance song , “Wobble” by V.I.C., “Girls Just Want To Have Fun” by Cyndi Lauper, and “Shout” by The Isley Brothers or by Otis Day. It is up to you which version you prefer. It is just a great group dance song you can have. “All The Small Things” by Blink-182. And finally, “Boogie Shoes” by KC And The Sunshine Band. So that is just to get things started off. Next up let us talk about 10 songs for slow dance songs starting off with “Tennessee Whiskey” ...
"It's not Halloweentown 2..." We had hoped to bring you a Teen Beach 2, Electric Boogaloo this week, but sadly that is one of the nicest things the girlies had to say about this dcom. Pros of the movie include almost everything about Ross Lynch, and cons include almost everything else. Digressions include Julie and the Phantoms, "Fergalicious", and heinous baby names. Here is the aforementioned song that Hannah didn't want to download and put in the episode because it's not even that good anyway: https://youtu.be/4aYM7SfP5d0 (UMG (on behalf of Walt Disney Records); UNIAO BRASILEIRA DE EDITORAS DE MUSICA - UBEM, ASCAP, LatinAutorPerf, UMPG Publishing, UMPI, BMI - Broadcast Music Inc., Walt Disney Music Company (Publishing), LatinAutor - UMPG, AMRA, and 11 Music Rights Societies) --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/slumberpartypod/message

Corrections (because we don't always get it right when we're recording):1. The Scrabble word Shawn said was "fergulous," not "Fergalicious." But let's be clear - neither are real words.2. The seven dwarves are: Dopey, Grumpy, Sneezy, Sleepy, Happy, Doc and BASHFUL. Bashful was the missing dwarf we couldn't think of.3. Subsequent map checking confirms that Holland, where Anne Frank lived, is definitely north of France, but it also shares a border with Germany. So Jane and Olivia were both right.4. Link to Tim Gunn's "Where's Andrae?" moment and Santino's continued impression on "Project Runway": https://youtu.be/FzUH6wjU46A.5. When Henry and Shawn discuss the caves, Henry said he used to "roust punks" from there. 6. The TV show Olivia would have known Steven Weber from is "iZombie," in which he played the evil CEO of the energy drink company that turned people into zombies.Affiliate link to the song "Waltz of the Little Swans" (Op. 20, Act II) by Tchaikovsky. If you purchase the song from that link, Jane and Olivia will get a small $ amount (maybe less than a tenth of a penny) for providing you with the link.Jane's podcast recommendation: Friday Five with Lori & JaneWe'd love to get a review of our show!Android users: Psych You Out - TV Podcast | PodchaserApple users: Psych You Out on Apple PodcastsPodcast Music:Pookatori and Friends by Kevin MacLeodLink: https://incompetech.filmmusic.io/song/4229-pookatori-and-friendsMighty Like Us by Kevin MacLeodLink: https://incompetech.filmmusic.io/song/4050-mighty-like-usLicenses: http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/Twitter: PsychYouOutPodEmail: psychyououtpodcast@gmail.com

And we're back! With a brand new season that's simply Obsessed, Glamorous, Fergalicious, Toxic, etc.: She's So Lucky: Pop Stars' Film Debuts! To kick things off with a pioneering film within the genre, this week's episode is on the 1992 Whitney Houston vehicle The Bodyguard, co-starring Kevin Costner as a former Secret Service agent hired to protect a famous actress and singer (played by Whitney, obvs) following escalating threats from a mysterious stalker. Catch us this season absolutely going off about the singer-to-actress pipeline, movie musicals vs. music movies, the Industry, and more--all through the unbiased and objective lens of our undying love of pop music, pop stars, and pop culture. Oh, and we? We will always love you.
How do you come out to your family?! On this episode, we explore the many facets of telling your family you're queer. Pers tells us about coming out to her family and how she knew it was the right time (sh*t gets REAL in this episode). Then, we share a MAILBAG from a brave, beautiful listener who did NOT have a good coming out experience. She explains how her mom's judgements and assumptions have affected her ability to be open about her sexuality. Plus, a deep dive into Billie Eilish's queer baiting controversy and a special shoutout to Fergalicious.
This week someone I thought was my friend, comedian Kitty Speed (Creator of Self Isolation Bear), brought me three music videos that I had been avoiding featuring Fergie. First is her debut with the Black Eyed Peas: Shut Up. Which leads us to a discussion about the pros and cons of immersive theatre. Next we talk about the vacant video for the vacant song My Humps. Finally, after a brief aside about London Bridge, we end with Fergalicious and Kitty expresses her anger with the Girl Scouts. We're gonna get you drunk, get you drunk on our comedy!
