BiggerPockets Real Estate Podcast - Mar 19, 2020What if retirement wasn't a one-time event at the end of a long career, but a rhythm you could build into your life right now?In this episode, we're joined by the brilliant Jillian Johnsrud, whose new book Retire Often flips the script on traditional retirement. Instead of waiting 40 years to enjoy life, Jillian makes the case for taking intentional mini-retirements throughout your career by taking one month off every couple of years….not to escape your life, but to design it.Jillian drops a 6.5% rule that reframes everything you've been taught about budgeting for time off. And we both realize: we've been doing mini-retirements, we just didn't have the language for it.So together, we unpack:Why a single month can be more transformative than you thinkWhat burnout actually feels like (and why most of us misread it)The financial math behind taking breaks without going brokeWhy your future self will thank you for planning nowHow to pitch a break to your boss and mean itLinks: Get the “Retire Often” book or visit the websiteGrab her free worksheets on Planning and Negotiating your mini-retirementFollow Jillian on Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, or YouTube Connect with Julien and Kiersten on our website, Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube.Join our email list to get updates from us, opportunities for discounts, freebies and a quick rundown on the relevant financial and career news impacting your life. Hi friend — welcome back to The Habit Within! I'm Camille Kinzler, and today we're continuing our five-part series on reclaiming women's health with something that might stretch your perspective: quantum wholeness.Because here's the truth — you are not just your body. You are energy, chemistry, consciousness — all woven together. And the way you think, believe, and perceive actually changes you at a cellular level.I know this can sound a little “woo,” but science is catching up — and research shows that your thoughts, beliefs, and environment are constantly shaping your biology. In this episode, I share:What I learned from my 2018 spiritual awakening — and why I feel like I'm stepping into another evolution nowHow somatic and immersive practices anchored me into a completely new version of myself (and why I'm returning to them)Why you may feel “stuck in your last update” — and how to courageously release what's no longer serving youHow visualization, meditation, and future-casting can shift your identity at the deepest levelA simple guided practice to expand your awareness beyond your physical body and reconnect with your energy fieldThis isn't about hacks or quick fixes. It's about stepping into the truth that you are whole — body, mind, energy, and spirit — and that your terrain includes so much more than what you eat or how you move.Big Takeaways:Your beliefs and mindset are as powerful for healing as any supplement or protocol. You're not just your body — your energy, environment, and self-talk are part of your terrain. You're allowed to update, recalibrate, and step into the next version of yourself.I'd love to hear from you: What stood out most in this conversation? Send Jackie A Message!Episode Summary:If your emails are only telling people when your next class is… they're probably not working. Most yoga and Pilates studio owners think they're nurturing their audience when they send a weekly newsletter. But logistics like schedules and price updates don't build belief—and belief is what actually turns warm leads into paying clients. In this episode of The Studio CEO, Jackie Murphy shares the three content types that bridge the gap between “interested” and “invested,” helping you turn subscribers into students, class-takers into members, and clients into lifers. What You'll Learn in This Episode:Why nurture content works (and why logistics emails fall flat)The psychology behind why warm leads need belief, not just informationPractical examples of nurture content you can create right nowHow to shift your emails from “nice to know” → “necessary to read”3 content types to start sending this week:Behind-the-scenes belief buildingYour unique point of view (POV)Story-based content (yours + your clients')Why This Episode Matters for Studio Owners:Your audience is already warm. They've signed up, they're curious, and they want change. But until you show them why it matters and help them believe transformation is possible, they won't take the leap. When you stop sending logistics and start sending belief-driven content, your nurture emails stop being ignored—and start creating conversions. The next time you sit down to write an email, ask yourself:"Am I just informing—or am I inspiring?"Because your subscribers don't need more information. They need transformation. And it starts with content that helps them believe it's possible.Work with Jackie Murphy Say Hi on Instagram @studioceoofficial Get Insider Marketing Tips in my Free Marketing Masterclass Level Up Your Business with the The Pack Your Classes Challenge Learn more about the Grow Mastermind: https://www.jackiegmurphy.com/mastermind

Today on Become A Calm Mama, we're continuing our conversation from last week about The Drama Triangle. This week, we're diving deeper into a healthier model, The Empowerment Dynamic (TED). You'll Learn:Unhelpful stories that you might be telling yourself right nowHow our thoughts and beliefs become our reality (and how to use this to your advantage)Questions to ask yourself to determine which roles you fall into mostHow to shift yourself and your family from drama to empowermentWhich roles I default to most and whyIn this episode, you'll learn HOW to actually switch roles and shift into this healthier dynamic. This is one of those episodes where you may want to grab your journal, answer some questions, and work through where these roles are showing up in your own family. ----------------------------------------In The Empowerment Dynamic, the roles shift from…Victim → CreatorPersecutor → ChallengerRescuer → CoachShifting Into The Empowerment DynamicWe all take on different roles at different times. It's normal to switch between them (even within a short period of time). But my guess is that there are a couple that you do most often. The challenge for you is to figure out how you act and why. Victim → CreatorBecoming a Creator is about getting creative with how you want to respond to life's challenges. It is inevitable that we will all experience sadness, pain, and misfortune. But you get to choose the way you look at and respond to these obstacles when they arise. The Victim has a “poor me” mindset. They don't really believe in their own power. They don't take responsibility for the circumstances that they find themselves in. They feel very helpless and trapped, doubt their own capabilities, and look to others to solve their problems for them. You can see how it would be easy for our kids to fall into this role. They're young, and little, and they do need our help. But there are ways to provide that help and guidance without being a helicopter parent or bulldozing a smooth road for them (which does nothing to help their self-confidence).If you think you or your child might be in a victim mindset, ask:Do you feel helpless?Do you feel like you have power here? Like you can do something about this situation? In the Empowerment Dynamic, we want to shift from the role of Victim into the role of Creator. This shift develops resilience and confidence. The Creator wants to create and be their best self. A creator thinks things like, “I'm good enough. I get to choose how to respond to my life,” and, “I am capable. I have the ability to take care of myself,” and, “I can trust myself. I know that I am worthy of trust.”You can help your child make this shift to believing in their abilities by affirming that:I know you are strong.I believe in your ability to figure this out. This is hard right now, but I know you're going to be okay.Don't bypass the feelings. Validate their emotion, show your support, and ask, “What do you want to do now? How do you want to handle this?”If you are in a victim mindset yourself, think about how you can get what you want in a healthy way. Think about times in the past when you have overcome challenges and feel gratitude for your strength in those moments. Persecutor → ChallengerThe shift from viewing someone as a Persecutor requires you to look at them from a more neutral place. Rather than seeing them as “the bad guy”, you see the circumstance as a challenge that you can overcome. And if you are showing up as a Persecutor, this shift...

What will it take to get humanoid robots out of the experimental phase and into our daily lives? A lot of us always dreamed of having our own C-3PO at the ready, but how close are we really?Well, it's a little more complicated than simply getting them on a production line. If we want robots to make an appearance not just in the manufacturing space, but also in healthcare, construction, public spaces, and even at home, there's a whole lot more work to do.In this episode, we bring you a two-part conversation, recorded live at the Robotics Summit & Expo in Boston. First up, Aaron Prather, Director of Robotics & Autonomous Systems Program at ASTM, sits down with Jake Hall, the Manufacturing Millennial, to talk about the number one important thing shaping robotics – safety standards.
