What if you could build a private practice with your spouse, create flexibility for your family, and serve your community at the same time? That's exactly what Morgan and Connor Randel have done with their private practice, Speak, Play, Love, in Charlotte, North Carolina.Morgan has been a speech-language pathologist for 8 years in which she had the privilege working with diverse infants, toddlers, and school age children. Her passion for working with kids started when she was just 12, babysitting and dreaming of a career helping children. After exploring teaching and nursing, she discovered speech pathology in college—a perfect blend of her interests. Connor, her husband, brought a lifelong entrepreneurial spirit and a background in finance and accounting. Together, they realized they could combine their skills to create something truly unique. After moving to Charlotte and navigating the challenges of finding her first job as a new graduate, Morgan started working as an independent contractor. She began to see firsthand the possibilities of private practice. When Morgan became pregnant with their first child, she and Connor decided it was the perfect time to take the leap—launching Speak, Play, Love while growing their family.Starting small, Morgan began seeing 5–10 clients a week, primarily through existing relationships with local daycares. By the time they had their second child, their practice had grown to 18 clients and 26 weekly sessions. Connor stepped in to manage the business side—billing, onboarding, and growth strategy—allowing Morgan to focus on therapy and client care.Over the next several months, Morgan and Connor continued to hire therapists, expand services, and grow their caseload. By creating a mobile-based practice, they kept overhead low, maximized their reach across Charlotte, and made therapy accessible to families who might otherwise face barriers to care.Morgan and Connor's story highlights the power of partnership. Morgan leads in therapy and client care, while Connor manages the business operations and growth. Their complementary skills, mutual trust, and shared vision allow them to operate a practice that works for their family, serves the community, and supports other therapists in their professional growth. In Today's Episode, We Discuss:Transitioning from traditional employment to private practice while starting a familyBuilding a mobile-based practice to serve the community efficientlyPartnering with a spouse to balance business growth and personal lifeHiring and onboarding therapists to scale services without sacrificing qualityCreating systems that allow for flexibility, sustainability, and growthMorgan and Connor's journey is a reminder that private practice is more than just a job—it's about designing a life. Life feels full of chaos right now—in our world, our nation, and even our own schedules. Today we set aside time to breathe, to worship, and to pray the Lord’s Prayer together as a church family. In a world that feels noisy and overwhelming, this is a time to pause, center our hearts and minds, and seek Jesus as our anchor. Through Scripture, prayer prompts, and worship, we can turn our focus to God’s holiness, His kingdom, His provision, and His peace.

In this episode Randel and Owen continue their talk with Master Paul Koh about Hung Gar, Fu Jow Pai, Martial Philosophy, Training and Teaching. "Master Paul Koh is internationally recognized as one of the world's leading Kung Fu teachers. He has dedicated his life to the study of this ancient Chinese art form, immersing himself in Chinese language and culture since his early teens. He is one of the only major advocates for preserving and promoting this cultural art which, despite being frequently overshadowed today by popular fads, is a timeless and ever-evolving art that goes far beyond a punch and kick. With over 40 years of experience, Master Koh has extensively trained with world-renowned Kung Fu masters in 少林洪家虎鶴拳術 Hung Gar Tiger Crane and 少林黑虎門虎爪派 Fu Jow Pai Tiger Claw Kung Fu. He has expertise in classical Chinese weaponry and in traditional Southern lion dancing. Master Koh is not only a martial artist who has dedicated countless hours, days, months and years to the study of his discipline, he is also a true educator, mentor and motivator. He has taught thousands of students and currently maintains a martial art training hall in NYC Chinatown. His knowledge of Kung Fu goes far beyond the physical execution or application of a technique, and extends to the historical and cultural background of Chinese martial arts, as well as the deep philosophical bedrock upon which this art form depends. These qualities, combined with an ability to speak and write clearly and eloquently, make Master Koh a unique phenomenon in the martial arts world. In addition to studying, researching and teaching the Chinese martial arts for nearly four decades, Master Koh is an accomplished author, having written several previous texts on the art of Kung Fu, as well as having published many articles in various martial art magazines throughout the years. He currently serves as martial arts consultant on a mystery novel series published by Soho Press and written by John Shen Yen Nee (former executive at DC Comics and Marvel Comics) and SJ Rozan (author of 18 novels, Edgar Award winner). The first novel, The Murder of Mr. Ma, was released in early 2024, and Master Koh's work was hailed by reviewers for his “incredibly orchestrated fight scenes” and “absolutely fabulous displays of martial arts.” In 2018, Master Koh launched Kung Fu In A Minute, a unique approach to documenting, promoting and preserving the traditional skills, attitudes, traditions and practice of the art of Kung Fu. Through Kung Fu In A Minute, he has published 14 titles with more forthcoming. The Kung Fu in a Minute library of videos, articles and manuals will further promote, preserve and protect this ancient art form.
