John 10:1-10 Jesus Illustration (vv. 1-6) Contrast The thief The shepherd Connection Familiar Fearful Jesus Illumination (vv. 7-10) The Door Jesus is the Door of salvation Jesus is the Door of satisfaction The destroyer Steals Kills Destroys More to Consider Hence we find in non-Christian religions a restless sense of the hostility of the powers of the universe; an undefined feeling of guilt, and all sorts of merit-making techniques designed to get rid of it; a dread of death, and a consuming anxiety to feel that one has conquered it; forms of worship aimed at once to placate, bribe, and control the gods, and to make them keep their distance, except when wanted; an alarming readiness to call moral evil good, and good evil, in the name of religion; an ambivalent attitude of mind which seems both to seek God and to seek to evade him in the same act. Therefore, in our evangelistic dialogue with people of non-Christian religions, our task must be to present the biblical revelation of God in Christ -- not as supplementing them but as explaining their existence, exposing their errors, and judging their inadequacy. James Packer, Your Father Loves You, Harold Shaw Publishers, 1986. The apostles preaching focused on the death and resurrection of the Lord Jesus. Peter, speaking to the Sanhedrin, clearly proclaimed Jesus as the only way to heaven: Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). Paul, speaking to the synagogue in Antioch, singled out Jesus as the Savior: I want you to know that through Jesus the forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you. Through him everyone who believes is set free from every sin (Acts 13:3839). John, writing to the church at large, specifies the name of Christ as the basis of our forgiveness: I am writing to you, dear children, because your sins have been forgiven on account of his name (1 John 2:12). No one but Jesus can forgive sin. Eternal life in heaven is made possible only through Christ. Jesus prayed, Now this is eternal life: that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent (John 17:3). To receive Gods free gift of salvation, we must look to Jesus and Jesus alone. We must trust in Jesus death on the cross as our payment for sin and in His resurrection. This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe (Romans 3:22). Gotquestions.org

An additional two charges have been laid against former Australian broadcaster Alan Jones. The 83-year-old is now facing a total of 26 indecent assault charges, relating to nine alleged victims over the span of two-decades. Jones was granted conditional bail, and has been scheduled to appear at Downing Centre local court in Sydney on the 18th of December. Australian Correspondent Steve Price told Mike Hosking that the complainants now include a prominent Olympian, a 17-year-old, and several men who were under his employ. He says that it's one of the most high-profile cases of its type they've ever seen, with two very prominent Australians —former Prime Minister John Howard and James Packer— both backing Jones. How do we work in a way that is sustainable and avoids burnout, while still being successful? This is a difficult question for women to answer, with a 2023 survey of Australian working women finding that 54% reported increased levels in stress. Another 30% experienced ongoing burnout and 16% left their jobs in 2022 citing lack of flexibility. Today, I'm joined by the wonderful Jo Wagstaff, internationally renowned leadership coach and speaker. She has worked with many premier Australian and global firms to support thousands of professionals to embrace the power of conscious, authentic leadership. Jo has recently written her book, Lead Like You, a roadmap for women to lead more authentic and fulfilling lives. In this episode, we're talking about just that. Jo takes us through her earlier years of working in the corporate world, where she seemingly had it all. However, a pivotal moment in her life (at a party hosted by James Packer, no less!), along with a season of loss and grief, caused her to step away. We hear about the following messy years, where she became a person and mother she wasn't proud of, and how she made the conscious decision to change her life. We talk about the limiting beliefs formed in childhood that often drive us to overwork as adults. Jo talks about how writing her book helped her unpack how her experiences shaped her, and how she found self-acceptance on the journey. So many of us struggle to find true meaning in our lives. We're overloaded by society's expectations on how to be, work and raise children. Jo talks about the importance of self-reflection, boundary-setting and values alignment to combat this. She also believes it's not just about leaning in; it's about knowing when to step back and breathe. There's no question that this world needs successful women. Those breaking glass ceilings, sitting at the top of the decision making tree and helping to develop the world that we want to live in. For Jo, it's about how to make them successful in a way that still feels meaningful. Her motto? Know yourself, care for yourself and be yourself. What is really driving you? As Jo says: our greatest strengths, when overplayed, become our greatest weaknesses. So join us today as we uncover the secrets to combating burnout and finding our true, authentic purpose in life. Seek and Square Peg Capital are just a few of the credits to Paul Bassat's name...and he's not done yet. Paul was a lawyer before he made the first big pivot of his career: he took a bet that the internet would replace newspaper classifieds...and the bet paid off. When he was at the top of his game at Seek, he made his next big pivot and founded the venture capital firm Square Peg Capital. Drawing on insights from his ringside seat, independent journalist, commentator and Mumbrella founder Tim Burrowes knits together the big events and conversations with key players then and now to reveal the drama and tell the stories behind the changes that every consumer of Australian media has witnessed over the past decade. In this unprecedented account, Tim considers how the newspaper rivers of gold evaporated, TV viewers turned to Netflix, and radio listeners started streaming instead. He covers how networks went broke, the ABC came under sustained attack, and how News Corporation's phone hacking drama in the UK delivered Rupert Murdoch to the most humble day of his life.Of course there is no drama without people and as much as Media Unmade is the tale of the fluctuating fortunes of some of the country's best-known companies, it also presents the compelling stories of the powerful personalities who have shaped them – from the Murdochs, to Antony Catalano and Greg Hywood, to Kim Williams and James Packer, Gina Rinehart, Alan Jones, Michelle Guthrie, Justin Milne and Kerry Stokes.Against the existential threat embodied by Google and Facebook, Australia's media companies remade their broken business models and plotted takeovers in a battle for survival. And just when the worst seemed to be over, COVID-19 delivered the biggest advertising recession of all time, pushing every media company to the brink.

Gabby Leibovich did just that – and in the process, with his brother Hezi, became one of Australia's best online retailers. Gabby and Hezi separately started selling products on eBay in the early 2000s, before joining forces to create Catch Of The Day – fifteen years later, and the eCommerce giant has become a multi-billion dollar business. In this episode, Gabby talks about growing up in a war zone, how raising $80 million from Tiger Global and James Packer changed his life and how he became the master of PR.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
