This live event brings the editors of this collection together to discuss Middleton, and the book they have produced. The Theatrical Legacy of Thomas Middleton, 1624-2024 marks the 400th anniversary of Middleton's final and most contentious work for the public theatres, A Game at Chess (1624), presenting readers with a celebration of the impact and lasting salience of Middleton's body of dramatic works from 1624 up to the present day. The collection is divided into three sections: ‘Critical and Textual Reception', ‘Afterlives and Legacies', and ‘Practice and Performance'. This division reflects the book's holistic approach to Middleton's dramatic canon, and its emphasis on the continuing significance of Middleton's writing to the study of early modern English drama. The book offers an assessment of the place of Middleton's drama in culture, criticism, and education today, through a variety of critical approaches. Featuring work from a range of voices (from early career, independent, and seasoned academics and practitioners), this collection will be of interest to specialists in early modern literature and drama who are interested in both theory and practice, and students or scholars researching Middleton's historical significance to the study of early theatre. Dr. Will Green is a postdoctoral research fellow at the University of Nottingham, and an associate tutor in Medieval and Renaissance Literature at the University of Warwick. He received his PhD from the University of Birmingham's Shakespeare Institute in 2021, and his work has appeared in journals including Exchanges, Theatre Notebook, and Critical Survey. Dr Anna L. Hegland is an advisor in The Aspire Center and adjunct professor at Carthage College in Kenosha, Wisconsin. She earned a PhD in Medieval and Early Modern Studies from the University of Kent in 2022. Her research examines the intertwining of rhetoric and action in early modern English theatre during moments of staged violence, combining textual and practice-based methods to think about enactment and embodiment then and now. Her work is published in the British Shakespeare Association's Teaching Shakespeare magazine, Shakespeare Bulletin, and Symbolism, and a chapter on Middleton appears in the recent edited collection Boundaries of Violence (Routledge, 2023). Dr. Sam Jermy is an independent researcher whose research explores the ways that masculinities are imagined, staged, articulated, and problematised across Thomas Middleton's body of work. They have published reviews in Shakespeare Bulletin and Urban History, and appeared as a guest on several podcasts including That Shakespeare Life and The International Anthony Burgess Foundation Podcast. Grabbing a few minutes with Paleo Ridge's Will Green and Esther Logue, we chatted about a shift in perceptions. As dog owners opt for healthier eating themselves, it's inevitable that pet parents are transferring their learning to their pets.Understanding the impact diet: ingredients that support and fuel at a cellular level, feeding a raw balanced complete diet to your dog is beneficial to their health. Over the years Anna has received a lot of antagonism from Vets on  feeding an unprocessed, natural whole food diet, which she found very disappointing. As a canine nutritionist, Anna agrees with Paleo Ridge's philosophy that by pre-empting health issues, is a way to keep dogs and their owners happy.  Feeding ingredients that are bioavailable and nutrient dense - ‘Letting food be thy medicine (as Hippocrates said in 600BC), can transform health. Offering an exclusive Vet Club for practices, Paleo Ridge aims to educate!!  Offering free advice, special packages and in-practice freezer options for vet practices. We touch on the myths around Raw Food Feeding, and why the RFVS want to help de-mystify such preconceptions and help Vets fulfill the demand from their customers. 3 Principles for Effective Business Copywriting with Will Green, Copy Road

Beyond 8 Figures

Play Episode Listen Later Nov 1, 2023 37:18

In today's dynamic business landscape, where companies constantly compete for customers' attention, effective business copywriting is your best chance to rise above the noise. Our guest, Will Green, of Copy Road, shares three key copywriting principles that can significantly improve your brand's impact, help build persuasive messaging, and establish meaningful connections, ultimately driving business growth and lasting success.About Will Green:Will Green is the master of copywriting. He's the Founder of Copy Road, where he's teaching others to turn content into cash flow for their businesses. Will is one of the few copywriters to earn 7-figures in royalties, making him the best person to talk to about copywriting for businesses. Will used to work in a Charleston-based independent publishing house, Joggling Board Press, where he was in charge of marketing and platform development. He became a junior copywriter at Stansberry and further honed his copywriting skills at Money Map Press. Now, he's helping clients with their copy while also sharing his valuable knowledge through his course “The Hunger Games,” where 100% of profits from buying go towards feeding hungry people.Episode highlights: Copywriting principles, though effective, can lose their impact when being overused, making them predictable to the audience. Mastering these basics empowers you to refresh your messaging while maintaining relevance with your audience. (06:17)  In business copywriting, less is more. Concise, resonating copy is undeniably effective, memorable, powerful, and persuasive. This minimalistic approach is a crucial principle as it makes your message clear and easy to understand, and ultimately - more memorable.  (07:25) The secret to writing a winning copy is simple - make a big promise to your audience and make sure you deliver on it. The trick is understanding their problem, offering them a practical solution, and convincingly showing that you can and will fulfill that promise. But making the promise is only half the battle; the ability to deliver on that promise is what ultimately distinguishes successful businesses. (08:24)  Building genuine customer relationships is a vital aspect of business copywriting that often gets overlooked. Copywriting is not just about crafting persuasive words; it's about creating a narrative filled with honesty and transparency. This sets the stage for a consistent relationship, trust, and loyalty, ultimately impacting the overall customer experience and business growth. (13:09) While artificial intelligence has many strengths, achieving consistency at scale with it is still a challenge. For instance, AI isn't up to par yet when it comes to preserving cohesion across different types of content. But paired with human understanding of communication, it can achieve tremendous results. That's why there's no reason to fear AI. Instead, embrace it as a powerful business tool for maximizing human potential and accelerating business progress. (26:25)  Will's best advice for entrepreneurs:“What works in copywriting is you make an offer that people want, and you make it clear, and then you prove that you can deliver it because if you promise me something I want and you prove to me that you can deliver it, and I can afford your price, I'm going to buy.” (07:25)Connect with Will:  Twitter LinkedIn Resources Mentioned: Hunger Games course Copy Road Follow Beyond 8 Figures: Linkedin Twitter Website

Tucked under street level in the shadow of the South Carolina State Capitol in Columbia, SC, is The Whig, one of the best bars (in my opinion) in the South. There are good cocktails, string lights, taxidermy decor, gouda mac and cheese and burgers if you get hungry, and if you happen in on the right night, co-owner Will Green will be behind the bar, mixing cocktails and keeping the vibe chill with a calm, assuring demeanor. Will was a MFA student at the University of South Carolina when he pulled his first shift at The Whig, and years later he's moved into a leadership position as one of its owners, as well as also co-owning WeCo Bottle and Biergarten in neighboring West Columbia. He aims to elevate the dive bar personality of The Whig without making it lose its charm, and it's a tightrope he deftly traverses, while managing to keep a sense of humor about it all.

There's a storybook quality to the idea of children being raised by wolves or living wild in the jungle with animals, but the reality of when children go feral is actually pretty grim. This week on Eavesdroppin', Michelle talks about the case of Oxana Malaya and an experiment gone wrong with a human baby and a chimp, while Geordie talks about the Bush Boys of Wilmington, but not before a brief chat about hacktivism, robot birds, the Lemonheads and the melting ice caps…   Imagine being forced to fend for yourself during a bleak Urkranian winter at just three years of age… That's what happened to Oxana Malaya, who survived by living with dogs. How did Oxana end up being raised by dogs? Why is she called Dog Girl? Did she really become one of the pack? Was she ever rescued or is she still basically a dog? Listen in to find out! Michelle also discusses the astonishing 1930s experiment of Donald and Gua, where animal behavioural scientists Winthrop Kellogg and his wife Luella took a human child and a baby chimp and raised them together to see whether or not the chimp could become human-like … Listen now to discover how this case played out…     Geordie then discusses the Bush Boys of Vernon… Who are Tom and Will Green? Why did they make international news? Why is Geordie talking a lot about fruit? And what do brothers Kyle and Roen Horn have to do with anything? Why are we talking about orthorexia? Can the kindness of strangers backfire? And how wild were these wild boys? Listen in to find out!   We hope you enjoy this week's episode – and wherever you are, whatever you do, just keep Eavesdroppin'!   *Disclaimer: We don't claim to have any factual info about anything ever, soooooorrrrrryyyyyyyy   Get in touch with your stories and listen, like, subscribe, share etc…  Or email us at hello@eavesdroppinpodcast.com      Listen here: www.eavesdroppinpodcast.com Or here: https://podfollow.com/1539144364   WE ARE NOW ON PATREON :) Want to show your favourite podcast some love by throwing a coin into the tipjar?
