Paul tells the Ephesians to walk in such a way that wisdom marks our path. He then says to redeem our time, for the "days are evil". If they were evil then, we know that we know they are evil now. In fact, the days of Noah were evil plus - and so shall our days be. So what are we watching this week? It will be different tomorrow probably, and next week as well. We went from weekly newspapers in large cities back in the 19th century, to daily in the last century, to non-stop today and newspapers are not even read anymore. In light of all of this, we talk about redeeming the time in a very encouraging article to start us out. Then we talk about the uniqueness of Israel - but in a way you may not have thought of because God is sovereign over ALL nations (Acts 17). More headlines - Big Food wants us all to be vegans, and they can prove it. A hurricane update and just how the fake media is paying richly for their censorship and lies, which has touched every life at some point. Evil days - bright future. Hold fast! Jillian Michaels has stepped out of her infamous "Darth Vader" role from "The Biggest Loser" and joins Glenn to dismantle the smearing of RFK Jr., fire back at those calling Charlie Kirk a bigot, and confess that she is “terrified” of what the modern Left has become — while noting how "the Right is looking a heck of a lot more diverse these days." From the glowing horrors of Fruit Loops and GMOs to the “catastrophic quartet of Big Food, Big Ag, Big Pharma, and Big Insurance” re-engineering our food to overcome the effects of drugs like Ozempic, the pair wonder if it's time for a 12-step program for food addiction. Jillian delivers wake-up calls on the transgender movement and the “psyop” of body positivity, before reflecting on training "The Biggest Loser" contestants and the vital role of personal responsibility and escaping victimhood. She describes the vaccine debate as a “red herring,” and Glenn breaks down his stance on gay marriage, MAHA, and what the liberals of his generation got right. More with Kevin Hall! Until recently, Hall was the U.S. National Institutes of Health's key researcher on the connection between ultra-processed foods and obesity. He took an early retirement due to increasing censorship of his work. He talks about his groundbreaking study with former “The Biggest Loser” contestants, the link between Big Tobacco and Big Food, and why Canadian scientist expats like him may soon be looking to return home.
Reforming SNAP. The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program—formerly known as food stamps—is designed to address nutritional gaps for economically disadvantaged Americans. But critics argue that SNAP's lack of selectivity when it comes to ultra-processed foods stokes the current epidemic of obesity and metabolic disorders. Nutritionist Carolina Schneider, MS, RD, joins us to discuss an opportunity to reform SNAP. She makes the case for emphasizing fresh, minimally processed food as eligible for purchase under SNAP. Also, she urges inclusion of vitamin D under SNAP benefits because of the pervasiveness of vitamin D deficiency, especially among SNAP recipients. Check out a hub for citizen activism at www.All4VitaminD.org. In Part 2, we shift to consideration of plant-based diets: What are their advantages, and what are potential pitfalls?
Dr. Hoffman continues his conversation with Carolina Schneider, MS, RD.
Alex Conley has lived every phase of the wellness journey, from surviving childhood cancer to chasing fitness perfection to realizing that health isn't something you buy, it's something you build through integrity and awareness. In this episode, Alex shares how years in the fitness and supplement industries exposed the cracks in our modern health system — from FDA loopholes and overprocessed supplements to the corruption of Big Food and the destruction of our soil. He explains why simplicity is the real cure, what we get wrong about hydration, and how mental health, anger, and anxiety are symptoms of a deeper imbalance in the way we live. We also cover: Why only 12% of second opinions confirm the original diagnosis How the supplement industry gets away with harmful ingredients What 98% of conventional farming means for your health The connection between soil quality, nutrition, and mental well-being Why the cure has always been simple — and how to return to it This conversation will challenge what you think you know about “wellness” and remind you that healing doesn't have to be complicated. ⚠️ WARNING: This episode will challenge everything you think you know about health. “Obesity kills more people worldwide every year than car crashes, terrorism, Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, and malnutrition combined.” In this eye-opening episode of Start Today, I bring you Dr. Saman Soleymani—a no-BS physician and entrepreneur running over a dozen practices—who exposes how Big Pharma and Big Food profit from disease while ignoring the #1 factor that could save your life: nutrition. From the obesity epidemic to GLP-1 drugs, testosterone, antidepressants, and birth control, Dr. Soleymani rips the lid off the lies that are killing people every single day. We uncover why waist size is the ultimate death predictor, how visceral fat destroys men's hormones, why SSRIs don't cure depression, the promising science of psilocybin, and the dangerous side effects of hormonal birth control that no one talks about. No fluff. No sugarcoating. Just the truth you need if you want to take back control of your body, your health, and your future.
Send us a textWhat if paying protesters made movements more honest instead of less? We sit down with Adam Swart, CEO of Crowds on Demand, to unpack how compensated advocacy actually works, why protests are context builders rather than public headcounts, and how to navigate a media ecosystem that rewards outrage over nuance. Adam pulls back the curtain on strategy: where you rally, what you say, and how you craft visuals—all to reach the second audience that never shows up in person but decides what trends tomorrow. We trace the arc from personal discipline and leadership ideals to modern persuasion. Adam shares why he sees compensation as the backbone of professionalism, how underdogs can outmaneuver entrenched money with smarter tactics, and what it takes to ask questions that bridge divides instead of hardening them. We examine the algorithms that keep us scrolling, the sensationalism that books TV guests, and the practical habits that help anyone spot manipulation: contextualize numbers, interrogate claims, and talk with people who don't vote like you.Adam also breaks down one of his most visible projects—the Delete Facebook movement—and the ripple effects it helped catalyze, from brand repositioning to political ad shifts. Then we go bigger: a candid call to challenge Big Food's engineered addictions and the unequal health burden they create. If you care about civic power, media literacy, and how ideas win attention in 2025, this conversation offers a blueprint you can use—whether you're organizing a cause, leading a team, or just trying to think more clearly in a noisy world. If this episode challenged you or gave you a new lens, follow the show, share it with a friend, and leave a quick review to help more curious listeners find us.Thanks for listening. When I was growing up, my mother believed the food she fed her family was safe for us to consume. In fact, the 1950's was just the beginning of the corporate takeover of agriculture and food production in the United States. Over the next thirty years it would culminate in Big Ag, Big Chem, and Big Food all having their hey dey producing corporate profits at the expense of American's health. In a properly functioning democracy, the U.S. government - as part of its mandate to protect the common good - would regulate corporate behavior to insure profits were never placed before the safety, health and well-being of people and planet. Yeah, well….that would be nice. Beginning in the 1980's, our government began to promote corporate interests too often at the expense of our well-being. In area after area, corporate profits became America's bottom line. More and more Americans realize this now. We need a world in which the safety, health and well-being of our children takes precedence over an economic trickle-down theory of economics. This is a fundamental way in which we've gone astray, and one of the ways in which in time we will self-correct. My guest today is Bill Freese, science director at Center for Food Safety (CFS), a non-profit organization that supports sustainable agriculture and opposes harmful food production technologies. Take care. Stay informed. We're going to create a more beautiful world. Jordan Sather and Nate Prince return with another eye-opening episode of MAHA News, kicking off with the “MAHA Tip of the Week” on how cheap tea bags can load your brew with billions of microplastic particles—and why loose leaf tea is the healthier choice. From there, the hosts highlight surprising wins against Big Ag and Big Food, applauding Tyson Foods' decision to drop high fructose corn syrup, sucralose, and harmful preservatives, while noting McDonald's $200M investment in regenerative farming. They skewer politicians like Chuck Grassley for pandering to corn lobbies, call out media hit pieces on RFK Jr., and spotlight MAHA Action rallies planned nationwide. The big story centers on the CDC's vaccine advisory panel overhaul under RFK Jr., including bombshell votes to end universal COVID vax recommendations, delay MMRV shots, and scrap the Hep B shot at birth. With sidebars on illegal Chinese vapes, organ donation reforms, and new supplement launches, the episode delivers MAHA's trademark mix of health news, political fire, and unapologetic truth-telling.
Why does a podcast about capitalism want to talk about science?Modern capitalism and science have evolved together since the Enlightenment. Advances in ship building and navigation enabled the Age of Discovery, which opened up new trade routes and markets to European merchants. The invention of the spinning jinny and cotton in the 18th century spurred textile production. The United States' Department of Defense research and development agency helped create the precursor to the internet. The internet now supports software and media industries worth trillions of dollars. On the flip side, some of America's greatest capitalists and businesses, including Thomas Edison, Henry Ford, and Bell Labs, gave us everything from electricity production to the transistor. Neither science nor capitalism can succeed without the other. However, science's star is now dimming. Part of this is due to political intervention. In the U.S., the federal government has cut funding for scientific research. The Covid-19 pandemic diminished the public's trust in scientific experts, which social media has exacerbated through misinformation. Restrictions on immigration may further hamper scientific research as some of the world's brightest minds lose access to funding and state-of-the-art facilities. But so too has capitalism played a hand in science's struggles. While corporations sponsor a significant portion of funding for scientific research, this funding too often comes with undisclosed conflicts of interest. Or corporate pressure may influence results in other ways.Stanford University professor John Ioannidis is a physician, writer, and one of the world's most-cited scientists. He studies the methodology and sociology of science itself: how the process and standards for empirical research influence findings in ways that some may find inaccurate. His 2005 essay "Why Most Published Research Findings Are False" is one of the most accessed articles in the history of Public Library of Science (PLOS), with more than three million views. Ioannidis joins Bethany and Luigi to discuss the future of the relationship between capitalism and science, how both will have to respond to contemporary politics, and how one even conceptualizes robust measurements of scientific success.Listen:Science for Sale, with David Michaels: Learn how corporate-funded science uses doubt to its patrons' advantage. The Money Behind Ultra-Processed Foods, with Marion Nestle: Examine the role of Big Food in public health. The Capitalisn't of the U.S. COVID Response: Understand the factors that exacerbated the pandemic's fallout for the most vulnerable in society.Read:Food for Thought: An excerpt from the second edition of Marion Nestle's book, Food Politics: How the Food Industry Influences Nutrition and Health. How Conflicts of Interest Shape Trust in Academic Work: What is the impact of various conflicts of interest on readers' trust in academic research findings? Food is supposed to nourish us, but what if the system that produces our food is actually making us sick? According to Stuart Gillespie, a veteran of global nutrition and development, that's exactly what's happening. He argues that Big Food has become a machine designed less to feed people than to maximize profit, leaving behind a trail of obesity, malnutrition, and environmental damage. But Stuart says there's a way out. His new book is called Food Fight: From Plunder and Profit to People and Planet.
Exposing Big Food, Big Pharma, and the Path to True Health In this week's episode, Marcus, Melanie meet with Calley Means — entrepreneur, healthcare reform advocate, and co-founder of TrueMed. Calley has been making waves in the national conversation about health, nutrition, and the systems driving chronic disease. As a former consultant to some of the largest food and pharmaceutical companies in the world, Calley offers a rare insider's perspective on how financial incentives can prioritize profits over people. Now, through TrueMed, he's working to flip the script — helping Americans use tax-free health savings accounts to pay for food, exercise, wellness coaching, and other preventative health measures. Calley is also the co-author (with his sister) of the bestselling book Good Energy, which explores the connection between metabolism and health, and he's an investor in companies tackling metabolic health, mental health, and longevity. A graduate of Stanford University and Harvard Business School, Calley also co-founded Anomalie, a custom bridal brand later acquired by David's Bridal. In this powerful and eye-opening conversation, Calley shares: •How his insider view of Big Food and Big Pharma shaped his mission to reform healthcare •The shocking incentives that drive the chronic disease crisis in America •How TrueMed empowers people to use HSAs and FSAs for healthy living •The link between metabolism, mental health, and performance — and why it matters for every American •Why systemic change requires both personal responsibility and policy reform Whether you're a health professional, a parent trying to improve your family's nutrition, or simply curious about the future of healthcare, this episode will challenge assumptions and offer practical solutions. Don't miss this episode with Calley Means — a candid, informed, and inspiring discussion on how we can take back control of our health. In this episode you will hear: • [Marcus] We turned a vegan into a meat-eater. A vegetarian was working at our house and smelled [Mama Holly's Prime Rib] and said “What is that?” And I said that's prime rib and said “I'm a vegetarian.” I said “I don't know man. I think you might give this one a whirl.” (3:20) • Pharmaceutical is about 50% of TV advertising. (5:50) • The 2 ways you get researchers money is just research grants (that's their life blood) and direct bribes. (7:10) • Anxiety was created as a sub-category of medicine in the 1970s, explicitly by pharmaceutical companies who had Valium to sell. (8:21) • If you can make obesity a national standard and tell people it's not you fault and jab them for a lifetime – that's a profitable patient. (18:33) • 25% of women are on some kind of psychiatric drugs, That produces reoccurring appointments and prescriptions. (20:01) • A doctor is a medical drug doctor. They're a drug prescriber. Who made that rule? That's not how it is in other countries. (22:51) • [Marcus] If you tell yourself your body is a racecar, or a fighter jet, or a monster truck, what kind of fuel are you putting in that sucker? (36:40) • If you can get seed oils, processed sugar and processed grains out of you house, that gets you about 80% there [the single most important thing a household could do.] • I think people should be more scared. I think we should have apps and blood tests and doctors telling people “You're not gonna make it through your life to meet your grandkids.” (41:57) • [Farmers] have low prices, high input costs, more weather challenges, trade issues that aren't their fault. They're taking it from all fronts. (59:05) • The system is built for drugs, not medicine right now. Drugs are profitable, healing is not profitable. Thriving is not profitable. Episode 2698 - Vinnie Tortorich and Chris Shaffer discuss mixed messages in nutrition, MAHA, and the need to stop the insanity. https://vinnietortorich.com/2025/09/stop-the-insanity-episode-2698 PLEASE SUPPORT OUR SPONSORS YOU CAN WATCH THIS EPISODE ON YOUTUBE - Stop the Insanity Chris and Vinnie strategize on how to get more followers using AI. (2:00) They discuss Catholic school sex ed from when Vinnie was in school. (10:00) Using this as an example of contradictory messaging and hypocrisy. Mixed messages are the reasons behind many of the issues in the health of society today. (16:00) There are claims that obesity isn't related to personal choice. (17:30) Disadvantaged communities struggle since so many processed foods are cheap, and that can be true. (18:00) The other claim has to do with poor gut health, which Vinnie doesn't believe. (18:30) Vinnie believes it has to do with misinformation and following the federal dietary guidelines. MAHA appears to be divisive for various reasons. (27:30) They discuss some of the concerns expressed about changing the SNAP problem, including expense and waste. But it seems there should be workarounds to resolve the concerns, so stop the insanity. Big Food and Big Pharma aren't likely to want the changes, it seems. (45:00) They discuss Alpha-gal syndrome, which is an allergy to red (mammalian) meat and sometimes dairy. (47:00) It is caused by a tick bite. Other meats, like chicken and fish, can still be eaten, so there's no real need to go vegan. Apparently, Martha's Vineyard is a hotbed of Alpha-gal. (53:00) They discuss how expensive certain farmers' markets are. If you are interested in the NSNG® VIP group, it will be reopening soon. In 1985, scientists in Antarctica discovered a hole in the ozone layer that posed a catastrophic threat to life on earth if we didn't do something about it. Then, something amazing happened: humanity rallied together to solve the problem.Just two years later, representatives from all 198 UN member nations came together in Montreal, CA to sign an agreement to phase out the chemicals causing the ozone hole. Thousands of diplomats, scientists, and heads of industry worked hand in hand to make a deal to save our planet. Today, the Montreal protocol represents the greatest achievement in multilateral coordination on a global crisis. So how did Montreal happen? And what lessons can we learn from this chapter as we navigate the global crisis of uncontrollable AI? This episode sets out to answer those questions with Susan Solomon. Susan was one of the scientists who assessed the ozone hole in the mid 80s and she watched as the Montreal protocol came together. (17:00) Lawsuits are popping up based on claims made on certain keto product labels. LMNT electrolytes is being called out for the use of things like maltodextrin hidden under the canopy of “natural flavors.” (21:00) It's interesting to see people start to push back against Big Food. (27:00) “Keto Certified” is not something the FDA actually does. Washington, D.C, is one of the most expensive places to live in the United States, and it's not a coincidence that it's filled with luxury shopping areas. (37:00) Back to the RFK fitness challenge video (link below for reference). (43:00) Some view it as unfeasible for most people, so they shouldn't even try. (45:00) The moral of the story is to try something new and set goals. Get started at the level you can begin now, and set incremental goals. The goal isn't the problem—the problem is the limited mindset. (54:00) If you are interested in the NSNG® VIP group, it will be reopening soon. Sincere question. At a minimum - who in government is actively trying to improve the life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness for Americans? It would be impossible to say Democrats. Whether they're fighting President Trump on deporting illegal alien criminals, developing more energy sources, reducing crime in our major cities, or challenging Big Food and Pharma to make Americans healthy again - Democrats simply can't abide Trump success. Meanwhile, the President assures everyone yesterday he's alive and well as he moves the Space Force, blows Venezuelan drug cartels out of the water (literally), and pledges to fight activist judges on his tariffs to save the country economically. We get into the law surrounding tariffs and other matters with Mark Weaver. John Hayward from Bretibart discusses the eyebrow raising meeting between Inda, China, and Russia. And meet a candidate and former judge taking on a Soros-backed DA in Philadelphia. -For more info visit the official website: https://chrisstigall.comInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/chrisstigallshow/Twitter: https://twitter.com/ChrisStigallFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/chris.stigall/Listen on Spotify: https://tinyurl.com/StigallPodListen on Apple Podcasts: https://bit.ly/StigallShowSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
August 31, 2025 Welcome back to Grifty, the podcast where cult wellness, corporate greed, and authoritarian politics meet at a potluck dinner nobody wanted. Tonight's theme is Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s Make America Healthy Again plan, better known as MAHA. The Trump team is branding it as a health revolution. But peel back the organic avocado sticker and it looks more like the same old MAGA project: pretend to fight for wellness while quietly dismantling the science and institutions that actually keep people alive. Let's dig in. ⸻ Segment 1: The Food Fight Nobody Ordered Robert F. Kennedy Jr., serving as Trump's Health Secretary, launched MAHA to target ultra-processed foods, artificial dyes, and chemical additives. Big food corporations such as Kraft Heinz, Mars, and Kellogg have already pledged to remove synthetic dyes by 2027 under mounting pressure (Axios (https://www.axios.com/2025/08/31/rfk-robert-kennedy-maha-food-plan)). Supporters frame MAHA as consumer protection. Critics see Kennedy using it to market himself as America's wellness crusader while sidelining medical professionals and spreading distrust in vaccines and science. Questions: 1. Is this food reform real progress or just wellness-washed authoritarianism 2. Should we be celebrating slightly cleaner Pop Tarts while the CDC is gutted behind the scenes ⸻ Segment 2: Polls Love Food Reform, Hate Science According to an Axios Ipsos survey, 87 percent of Americans support stronger food safety rules, with bipartisan backing (Axios (https://www.axios.com/2025/08/31/rfk-republicans-gop-business-make-america-healthy-again-maha)). Nobody is begging for more Red Dye No. 40. But vaccines remain a dividing line. Gallup found that Republicans are significantly less supportive of childhood vaccinations than Democrats, leaving MAHA as a unifying food crusade that simultaneously deepens America's science divide (Axios (https://www.axios.com/2025/08/31/rfk-republicans-gop-business-make-america-healthy-again-maha)). Food For Thought: 1. Does this prove people only support science when it is about snacks 2. What does it mean when food safety unites but basic vaccines divide ⸻ Segment 3: GOP Breaks Up With Big Food The Republican Party has suddenly distanced itself from Big Food. Instead of defending corporations, GOP leaders are aligning with suburban parents worried about chemical exposure and warning labels on junk food (Axios (https://www.axios.com/2025/08/31/rfk-republicans-gop-business-make-america-healthy-again-maha)). But corporate donors are not walking away quietly. Agricultural giants like Mountaire and Reyes Holdings are resisting regulation, and their financial influence means the fight is just beginning. Questions: 1. What happens when Republicans break up with Big Food, and who is their rebound 2. How long before Fox News says Biden wants to ban Oreos ⸻ Segment 4: MAHA's War on Science The Trump administration is using MAHA to undermine public health. The CDC is being overhauled and senior scientists are resigning in protest of political interference and Kennedy's rejection of mRNA technologies (The Hill (https://thehill.com/policy/healthcare/5475599-trump-administration-overhauls-cdc/amp/)). Experts warn this is not temporary. Cutting research programs and pushing conspiracy rhetoric risks decades of progress in medicine and public health Questions: 1. What does America look like when essential oils replace vaccines 2. How do we measure the long term cost of this brain drain from the CDC ⸻ Segment 5: Killing Cancer Research While Posing As Wellness Saviors While Trump and Kennedy promote MAHA as a children's health movement, they are simultaneously dismantling federal programs designed to find cures for cancer, Alzheimer's, and ALS (House Appropriations Committee (https://democrats-appropriations.house.gov/news/press-releases/trump-team-dismantles-efforts-find-cure-cancer-and-other-deadly-disorders-and)). The cruelty is in the timing. The New York Times reported promising breakthroughs from a new pediatric brain cancer trial group just this week (New York Times (https://www.nytimes.com/2025/08/28/well/pediatric-brain-cancer-trial-group.html)). While researchers bring hope to families, Washington is choking off the funding that sustains them. Questions: 1. How do you square calling yourself pro child health while cutting cancer research 2. Is this just political theater that uses kids as props ⸻ Segment 6: MAHA 2026 Political Weaponized Wellness Kennedy and Trump are positioning MAHA as a key wedge issue for the 2026 midterms. The strategy is to woo suburban women, independents, and younger voters with promises of food safety and wellness transparency (Axios (https://www.axios.com/2025/08/24/rfk-jr-maha-strategy-2026-midterms)). The contradiction is glaring. They say they care about your family's health, yet they are dismantling the very systems that could save your family from disease. It is not Make America Healthy Again. It is Make America Hypocritical Always. Questions: 1. Is this wellness movement just MAGA wrapped in Whole30 branding 2. How do Democrats fight back against a political cleanse disguised as health reform ⸻ OUTRO That is MAHA in all its kale washed glory. A movement pretending to save you from Lucky Charms while cutting off cancer research and gutting public health. This is violence with branding. Trump and Kennedy are not protecting families, they are using wellness as a mask for authoritarian power. Kendrick Lamar. Please take us out.
Bobby Kennedy, Jr. seemed on the right track when he launched his “Make America Healthy Again” campaign.Well, not the wacky-quacky part of that agenda, where he teeters off into the prickly thicket of medical voodoo and vaccine bugaboos. But he was onto something fundamentally important when he began to rally public opposition to the arrogance, greed, and willful destructiveness of pesticide peddlers and other Big Food profiteers. As Secretary of Health, Kennedy pushed Trump's “presidential commission on children's health” to take long-overdue action to rein-in those agribusiness contaminators of our food supply and natural resources. He called for limits and outright bans on industrial ag and food processing abuses that grow corporate profits at the expense of healthy kids.Great! But wait – the commission's draft report is now out, and none of Kennedy's most meaningful stuff is in it. None! There's no suggestion, for example, that even the most toxic cancer-causing pesticides should be outlawed, permanently removed from food products and our environment. What happened? Money. While Kennedy was publicly talking a good game, Big Food profiteers were paying a million dollars each to have intimate talks at private dinners with Trump. And when money talks, political integrity walks.Sadly, rather than resigning in protest of Trump's whitewash and rallying America's families to carry this betrayal into next year's elections, Kennedy is hyping the report's empty calories as a people's victory! But he can't make chicken salad out of chicken manure. Grassroots groups themselves call the gutted report “beyond laughable,” “profoundly disappointing” and “dangerous.”For genuine, structural change in food policy, go to Environmental Working Group: ewg.org.Jim Hightower's Lowdown is a reader-supported publication. HR1 Catholic School Shooting, Big Food Buisness Using MAHA 8-27-25 by John Rush
When Brandon and Whitney Cawood's three-year-old son was expelled from daycare for aggressive behavior, they faced a crossroads that would change not only their lives but potentially millions of others. Rather than accepting the psychiatric diagnoses being pushed on them, they discovered something shocking: their son's severe behavioral issues weren't psychological at all—they were chemical reactions to synthetic food dyes hiding in his daily allergy medication and antibiotics.Within 48 hours of removing these petroleum-based chemicals from his diet, they met their real son for the first time. This revelation launched them on a journey that would lead to creating the documentary "To Dye For," building a community of nearly one million parents, and influencing legislation across multiple states. To Dye For Documentary Dr. Roger McFillin / Radically Genuine WebsiteYouTube @RadicallyGenuineDr. Roger McFillin (@DrMcFillin) / XSubstack | Radically Genuine | Dr. Roger McFillinInstagram @radicallygenuineContact Radically GenuineConscious Clinician CollectivePLEASE SUPPORT OUR PARTNERS15% Off Pure Spectrum CBD (Code: RadicallyGenuine)10% off Lovetuner click here
Calley Means has spent years pulling back the curtain on some of the most powerful industries in America, and what he shared with me was eye-opening. We talked about his journey from working inside the political machine to becoming a senior adviser to Robert F. Kennedy Jr., and now one of the most outspoken critics of the food, pharmaceutical, and healthcare industries. Calley explained why he believes the health of our country starts with what we eat, and how the system is stacked against ordinary Americans from the time we are kids in school. He did not sugarcoat the reality. The statistics are dark, the incentives are broken, and the industries making billions off our sickness do not want to change. But Calley also brought hope by sharing why he still believes America can turn this around, what he is fighting for alongside RFK Jr. and Donald Trump, and the changes that could actually make us healthy again. This was a challenging and fascinating conversation that will make you question what you have been told about health, medicine, and the food on your plate. Episode 2681- Vinnie Tortorich welcomes dietitian Michelle Hurn, and they discuss disrupting Big Food, lobbying for truth, and the downsides of shortcuts. https://vinnietortorich.com/2025/08/downsides-of-shortcuts-michelle-hurn-episode-2681 PLEASE SUPPORT OUR SPONSORS YOU CAN WATCH THIS EPISODE ON YOUTUBE - Lobbying for Truth Michelle Hurn has been a Registered Dietitian for years, but she challenges the current nutrition guidelines. (2:00) Early nutrition guidelines were established by Seventh-day Adventists to eliminate the eating of meat. The facts are lined up and vetted in FAT: a documentary. (6:30) Vinnie curates knowledge of other experts on his show. (11:30) Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. has caused some disruption to the messaging; however, as long as Big Pharma and Big Food are allowed to lobby, there won't likely be much change. Lobbying affects both sides of the aisle, and changes have not been made. (18:00) It's part of what has been driving the decrease in metabolic health of our society. (20:00) Being a registered dietician is a challenge; positions in hospitals and schools pay less than half of what Big Food will pay. (22:00) Vinnie shares the story (and misconception) behind “fat burns in the flames of carbohydrates.” (28:00) Michelle shares her story of how she discovered what she had learned was wrong. (34:00) Her health had deteriorated, and she became very ill. It was when she learned about low-carb that she regained her health. Vinnie shares how he figured out how to fuel himself with fat for his ultra races. (40:00) Michelle is a marathon runner and made discoveries of her own, including high-fat/low-carb to fuel her body. (45:00) The Downsides of Shortcuts GLP-1s are all the rage, but nothing in biochemistry is free of consequences. (51:00) You can't affect any one issue in isolation. There are downsides to shortcuts. The side effects are a serious concern. Suppressing ghrelin can suppress hunger, but that means it also suppresses autophagy, which is your body's way of cleaning toxins from its cells. (52:00) They discuss other implications associated with GLP-1s, like loss of muscle tissue. Michelle and Vinnie have both helped numerous people just through the low-carb lifestyle approach alone. On this episode of Stinchfield, Grant explains his support of Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who just took a bold stand against Big Pharma by banning Thimerosal — a toxic mercury-based preservative once used in childhood vaccines and still used in flu shots and other vaccines today. This is a massive win for medical freedom, parental rights, and common sense. RFK Jr. is proving he's not afraid to challenge the corrupt pharmaceutical lobby and do what's right for the American people. Grant lays out why this move matters and why RFK Jr. deserves credit for doing what no one else in government has had the guts to do. Plus, the dirty truth about your steak. Most Americans have no idea that the cheap steaks sold in many grocery stores are Frankenstein meat — held together with an industrial enzyme known as “meat glue.” That’s right: scraps of meat stitched into a slab and sold to you as a premium cut. It’s misleading, unhealthy, and yet another example of Big Food putting profits over transparency. If you want real, unvaccinated, grass fed beef visit TWC.Health/Grant and click on wellness farms. In this episode, we dive into one of the most shocking truths about our modern food supply with Dr. Tera Fazzino, associate director at the KU Center for Addiction Research. What if we told you that the same tobacco companies that engineered cigarettes to be addictive also helped shape the foods you crave the most? From hyper-palatable snacks to sugary drinks, we unpack how these foods hijack your brain's reward system—and why it's so hard to stop eating them. Dr. Fazzino reveals the documented connection between Big Tobacco and Big Food, and why our current food environment might be more manipulated than we think. Sheila Dillon looks into claims that big food companies wield too much influence over government decisions and public health. The episode follows news from the youth-led campaign group BiteBack2030, which says its billboard campaign has been effectively silenced. The group recently organised a mock inquiry in Parliament, involving MPs, to share concerns about how junk food advertising and sponsorship are affecting the health of children in the UK.Sheila also hears from a group of protesters who marched to Downing Street this month, shouting the message “Fight Fake Food.” Organiser Rosalind Rathouse, from the Cookery School on Portland Street, says the public needs to know how the food they're eating is damaging their health. She is calling on everyone to learn to cook this summer. During the march, campaigners delivered a list of wishes to Downing Street, highlighting the changes they'd like to see in food policy. Also featured are Jennifer Richardson from The BMJ, which has been investigating the impact of commercial influence on children's health, and Cathy Cliff from the Soil Association, who submitted a Freedom of Information request to uncover the extent of food industry lobbying and its effect on government policy.Presented by Sheila Dillon Produced for BBC Audio in Bristol by Natalie Donovan
On this episode of Stinchfield, Grant is joined by Celebrity Chef Andrew Gruel. The two pull back the curtain on the meat industry and expose the ugly truth: it’s no longer run by the hardworking American ranchers and local farmers—it’s been hijacked by massive multinational food conglomerates. These corporate giants aren’t just in it for profit—they’re manipulating how meat is raised, processed, and marketed, all while cutting corners on quality and jeopardizing our health. Grant breaks down how Big Food floods the market with ultra-processed, chemically-laced meat products disguised as "natural"—robbing us of the nutritional power that real meat used to deliver. Instead of supporting the ranchers who raise cattle the right way, the system props up factory farms, synthetic feedlots, and corporate meatpacking plants that treat animals and consumers like numbers. This isn’t just about food—it’s about control. And it’s time we fight back.
The summer, some of the biggest food companies in America have announced that they plan to stop using artificial food dyes. What if the same playbook that made cigarettes addictive is now being used to make our food irresistible? This week we're exploring Ariana Huffington's eye-opening piece about how Big Food borrowed tactics directly from Big Tobacco, using the same scientists and brain research to hook us on ultra-processed foods. We dig into a groundbreaking lawsuit that's drawing explicit connections between food companies and tobacco giants, and why this might be our "big tobacco moment" for the food industry. From a 1962 memo revealing that tobacco companies saw themselves as being "in the flavor business" to the staggering health costs we're paying today, this episode connects the dots between corporate strategy and our current health crisis - and explains why there's actually reason for hope. Grains are not “heart-healthy.” (16:30 Breakfast is not necessarily the most important meal of the day. (23:00) If you eat breakfast, have a couple of eggs instead. If you have tried a smaller eating window during the day, but your weight loss has slowed down, try eating a couple of eggs in the morning. All the meals you eat are important: it matters what you put into your body. (26:00) Coffee will stunt your growth is also a lie. (31:00) In 1895, C.W. Post came up with a product made of burnt grains. He started a smear campaign against coffee so he could sell more “Postum.” Drinking eight 8-oz glasses of water a day is another inaccurate recommendation. (38:00) Michelle Obama had tried to address health and food awareness, but appears to have been shut down by Big Food companies. The focus was changed to drinking more water and moving more.
