While many of our guests usually have adventure and the outdoors ingrained in them at an early age, it wasn't that way for today's guest. Growing up in Sonoma County, in the valley of northern California's coastal hills and vineyards, Brianna remained relatively homebound. It wasn't until a trip to Yosemite National Park in her late 20s that she found her place in the outdoors, after becoming enamored by the monumental granite faces of the valley Many road trips and day hikes later, she's dedicated much of her life and work to conservation, and inspiring people to get outside. As a multiple-business owner Brianna triumphs in the face of adversity and discomfort. Even after an unfortunate accident while hiking where she was heli-rescued and left with shattered bones in her foot - she persisted on to grow her businesses, and more recently, become a mother while becoming the new owner of the outdoor apparel bran - Go The Fuck Outside. For her, the outdoors has become a place for mental clarity - whether it's camping, hiking, or simply sitting outside enjoying what nature has to show. In these moments she feels at peace and wants to share that feeling with everyone she meets! Visit Gothefuckoutside.com and use the code F4A20 for 20% off all products in the store! I met Nate through a coaching program we both participated in starting in October 2021 and after hearing his story and learning about where he was at in life I became both curious and intrigued. At the time Nate was preparing to leave his secure, and valuable career working for FEMA so he can pursue a more passion driven lifestyle on the road as a coach. He sold most of his possessions and in December 2021, rented out the condo that he owned and took off in his Subaru with his dog. Today he continues to live on the road as he leads workshops on breath, psychedelic integration, and mindset tools. He is the host of the new Innate Flow Podcast and has created an incredible coaching program to aid people in their transformation through plant medicine. You can learn more about Nate on Instagram at @innate.flow or by visiting innateflow.co and listen to his podcast on Apple and Spotify!
From William: Our mental health contingency plan for Veteran's and First Responders transitioning from service to civilian life is lacking. The current plan in place for the men, women and families who dedicate their lives to the security of our countries is showing an increase in suicides, self harm, addiction, and homelessness. It's simply not ok. From everyone here at the Project LIGHT team, we are dedicated to not only changing the narrative but most importantly taking action and making a change. It's great to be able to raise awareness and donate a few bucks, but at the end of the day are we really making a change or are we simply playing out the same old patterns only to see the momentum be silenced and/or discouraged. What you need to know about this project: > We are delivering education to all men and women who are consenting to taking action in creating change in their lives from service to civilian world. > We are going to take people off the streets and put them back into their lives. > We are going to strategically build a platform to which Veterans and First Responders can access when leaving the service. > We will increase the awareness of the state of mental health already present within these ecosystems. > Collectively we will isolate the current mental health plan and upgrade its exposure and potency. > We are filming a documentary to show what it is we are all "NOT SEEING" and how we can mitigate further damage moving forward. > We require help and support from across the board. > We require free and open communication in order to get this work to that exact someone who needs it. > We will require legal help during our transit across the country. > We are not going to stop until our goals are met. 100 Homeless off the street and back into a life. 5000 Veterans and Emergency Service Personnel directly impacted by this work. 100 Families who have been directly impacted and lost loved ones in the line of duty are given access to support and and professional education needed. Julie has planted her flag on the fitness industry over the last 13 in some impressive, and broad ways After starting CrossFit in 2009, she quickly became a household name.. if your household was filled with Crossfitters.. Julie went on to compete in the CrossFit games 4 times. Across her four Games appearances, she has never finished outside the top 5. This incredible display was trumped by the fact that she was also traveling weekends as a member of the CrossFit seminar staff, AND attending medical school. Her last games appearance was in 2014, as she was committed to completing her residency and knew the stress that would come along. During this time she was continuing to travel for seminars, and she started the posting health podcast When CrossFit health formed, Julie was on the team who put MDs through the CF, level one seminar. She worked as a Liaison between the Fitness community and her physician peers. She currently practices family medicine, and is working to create long lasting health through fitness by spearheading CrossFit's Precision Care, an initiative that connects to doctors who help create a plan for long term health. We talk a lot about how Julie handled the stress of completing at a high level while working toward her MD, and her passion and vision for the future with CrossFit health. Mike is a musician who planted his flag on the music industry by helping people unlock their inner rockstar. As a coach, Mike has coined the Music Fit Method, and published a book with the same title. He is an incredible story teller and personality, and kept us laughing, breathing, thinking, and singing for the entire episode! Around the 1 hour mark we begin a meditation done using Binaural Beats, music played at a different frequency from what we're used to in popular music. Dr. Ray Gorman is a physical therapist from Nevada, who has spent the recent years of his career leading countless coaches to the watering hole of creating lasting impact, and shown them all how to drink from it and share it with others. Ray worked to create an education system for coaches on how to take effective measures toward getting athletes and everyday people out of pain, improve performance, and feel good. I was first introduced to Ray at one of the seminars I attended where I got to learn first hand, just how knowledgeable he is. Ray's draws on his experience as a Physical Therapist where he's worked in the typical day to day outpatient clinic and in Division 1 Sports, where over time, he began to understand that to feel true fulfillment it was time to grow. He scaled the impact he had on the world by helping the people who help people. In this conversation, brings an enlightening discussion around Health, Ego, and Performance in the gym. He shares his insights based on working with hundreds of 1:1 clients over the years about how to effectively communicate the importance of understanding where you're at and what your goals are. Ray has an incredible way of communicating information that we were taught was only accessible to doctoral candidates and physical therapy students. The way that he is able to relate to coaches and athletes gave him a unique position to be able to impact the lives of hundreds, if not thousands of people. The question we ask today is -> is there an "end" to fulfillment? Is it black and white or is it a process? We explore the gray area of life, the act of doing. Doing is the means of reaching fulfillment. Even when you're doing things that are great for you, and joyful, you can feel burnout. Burnout comes from monotony, and it's also a phase. It comes and goes! This happens easily with things like diet and exercise, and then it's easy to fall off. If you work through the burnout and trust the process, you can come out on the other side with great new habits and the lifestyle you actually want!
