    Transforming shame into hope with Allan Sparkes

    Allan Sparkes, inspirational keynote speaker and best selling author of the book 'The cost of bravery', is one of Australia's most highly decorated citizens with an incredible story. Allan Sparkes became one of only five people to be awarded Australia's highest decoration for bravery, the Cross of Valour, for rescuing an 11-year old boy from a flooded storm water drain in 1996. However, after two decades in the police force, the rescue would signal a downward spiral into post-traumatic stress disorder and depression. This turn of events was an incredibly dark time for Allan and it's through his struggle and recovery that he saw an opportunity to share with others what he went through, turning shame into hope. Allan is now one of Australia's most recognised mental health advocates and inspirational speakers.
