Is paying $0 income tax really a possibility? In 2004, Jean-Pierre Laporte set out to create a better solution for investors that wanted improved asset protection while minimizing taxes. With an impressive academic background at the University of Toronto, Osgoode Hall Law School and the Institut d'Etudes Politiques de Paris, he is often called upon as an expert witness before the House of Commons Standing Committee on Finance, and he has written several seminal articles on pension reform, including an expansion of the Canada Pension Plan. Jean-Pierre, founded INTEGRIS drawing on over a decade of experience as a pension lawyer for several prestigious Toronto firms, including Bennett Jones LLP, Fasken Martineau LLP, Osler and Hoskin & Harcourt LLP. He has dedicated his career to improving pension legislation. Frustrated that the significant benefits of pensions were not readily available to those outside of large companies, Jean-Pierre created the Personal Pension Plan ™ to level the playing field and open up a new world of financial options and increased retirement savings for incorporated professionals. INTEGRIS Pension Management Corporation Offers incorporated business professionals (and C-Suite Executives) the most tax-effective way of saving for the future. INTEGRIS acts as a fiduciary between government and regulated companies in Canada to provide its clients with a high-calibre Personal Pension Plan (PPP®). While INTEGRIS does not invest assets, it designs and implements pension strategies tailored to the individual's needs and maintains the plan's compliant status over a lifetime. Are you set up for success? Our guest today is Thomas Lorini. Thomas is Canadian, however as of 2014, he moved his family from Toronto, Ontario to Orange County, California. Paradise does come at a cost, but they really enjoy living where they do. Thomas loves real estate and over the years has transitioned it from a hobby into a full-time labour of love. It all started after reading Cashflow Quadrants by Robert Kiyosaki and joining a network of real estate investors that he realized the true benefits and possibilities that real estate could offer. In 2011, he was able to take a HELOC (home equity line of credit) off his principal residency and purchase a small duplex in an A-class rental area. It was from that point that he started creating his own portfolio of cash-flowing assets. Today, he is laser-focused on purchasing Class B & C cash-flowing properties and partnering with other investors who like the idea of real estate investing but don't have the time or experience to do so. He currently owns a combination of single-family homes, duplex, triplex and larger mix-used multi-family buildings. Thomas loves working with people and as a professional real estate agent helps as many people and families as he can make informed decisions when it comes to their homes. He understands that buying or selling a home is more than just a transaction: it's a life-changing experience. That's why Thomas and his team are dedicated to providing exceptional, personalized service for all of their clients. Thomas takes great pride in the relationships that he builds and works relentlessly on his client's behalf to help them achieve all their real estate goals. Fun facts about Thomas: He loves coffee…especially cappuccinos, He plays soccer, He loves eating spinach and rappini (Google it!), he teaches Sunday school, his favourite number is 7, he loves the beach (I would too if I live in Orange County, CA!), and he was born in Canada.
