Welcome to a brand-new queer space special! Come along to visit All She Wrote Books, a fabulous queer feminist bookshop, located in Somerville, MA, an area that is historically significant for feminist literary activism. Owner Christina Pascucci-Ciampa tells me about what it was like turning All She Wrote Books from the queer literary pop-up that unicorn dreams are made of into a (yellow) brick (road) and mortar shop and community space. We also learn about Ruby, the bookshop's Chief Barking Officer, and about what made Christina believe in the magical powers of storytelling.References:https://www.allshewrotebooks.com/@allshewrotebooksNew WordsKristen Hogan's The Feminist Bookstore Movement (Duke UP, 2016)American Booksellers AssociationEmma StraubBooks Are MagicPatricia Highsmith's The Price of Salt (Carol)Audre LordeAdrienne Richbell hooksJulie EnszerSinister WisdomFeminist Bookstore Newshttps://sinisterwisdom.org/FBNMalinda LoRuby, Chief Barking Officerhttps://www.allshewrotebooks.com/friendsofrubyCrafty Queer Studio https://www.craftyqueerstudio.com/The Wizard of OzAudre Lorde's Sister OutsiderCarmen Maria Machado's In the Dream House/Her Body and Other PartiesThis Queer Book Saved My Life podcastLindy WestSarah Schulman Questions you should be able to respond to after listening: Christina speaks about why pop-up bookshops were an important part of All She Wrote's journey. Why do we need specialist bookshops? Why are they spaces of activism?

At the 1992 American Music Awards, FireHouse won the award for "Favorite New Heavy Metal/Hard Rock Artist".[7] Two great songs Don't treat me bad - acoustic In our interview with FireHouse frontman CJ Snare, he explained: "Sometimes songs really are personal and sometimes they really, really aren't. I remember sitting down at the piano and coming up with that chord progression, but it sounds really different on piano, obviously, than it did on guitar. I had the first verse, bridge, and chorus, and then I brought it to the other guys in the band and we hammered out the rest of the song. Mostly Bill [Leverty, guitarist] and myself." Love of a lifetime CJ Snare had not yet formed FireHouse when he wrote this song. He had a gig playing solo in a hotel lounge with a keyboard and drum machine. One night after his set, he came back to the lounge, enjoyed some free beer, and came up with the song. This song almost didn't make the album, since CJ Snare didn't want to introduce it to the band. Part of his trepidation came from some bad medicine Jon Bon Jovi gave him: The singer told CJ that it would ruin his career if he released the song. @addtomyplaylistpodcast on all social platforms podcast presented by True Media Solutions

We had the pleasure of interviewing SIX60 over Zoom video! New Zealand pop/rock icons SIX60 have been making headlines across the globe, thanks to the joyous, COVID-free concerts they have been performing to crowds of more than 20,000 people at a time. They are the biggest band in New Zealand history, and arguably the most dominant band in a single territory ever, representing more than 15% of all music listened to in their home country. Formed in 2008, the band has released four number one albums and 44 platinum singles, including their most recent single, “All She Wrote,” which shot to the top of the charts upon its release. Thanks to New Zealand's success with COVID, SIX60 was able to continue to tour throughout the pandemic, which made them "the planet's biggest touring band," according to NME, selling more tickets than the rest of the world combined. Complex, The Guardian, and CNN all highlighted their impressive touring accomplishments, with the BBC reporting that “the success of their shows will give hope to musicians around the world that concerts will resume one day.”Now, on the heels of a record shattering year, SIX60 have announced their arrival to the US with their first-ever performances in the country, stopping at two iconic halls: LA's The Fonda Theatre on Saturday, October 9th, and NYC's Webster Hall on Thursday, October 14th. The concerts will continue the band's streak of historic firsts, which included the first-ever musical performance at New Zealand's national stadium Eden Park – the biggest live show in the world at the time, performed in front of 50k fans - and an eleven-date European tour, which included their biggest show outside of their native New Zealand at the iconic London venue, Alexandra Palace.“It's really exciting to be playing our first headline shows in the states,” SIX60 said. “When the pandemic hit, it was hard to imagine it ever happening. We just played Bottle Rock and Berkley this weekend, and the crowd response has been incredible. It seems like the crowds are really happy to be back together and we can't wait to give them a night to remember.”SIX60's live shows have garnered the attention of media across the world. ITV's Piers Morgan dubbed them “the hottest band in the world right now” during his interview with lead singer Matiu Walters, and the BBC called the shows “just unimaginable right now.” The band's performance at Eden Park was highlighted by one-off special appearances by players of the All Blacks rugby team, New Zealand's National Naval band, a flyover of Royal New Zealand Air Force jets, as well as traditional Maori Kapa Haka performers, who joined the band on stage to see out the night with their hit ‘Don't Forget Your Roots' (Kia Mau Ki Tō Ūkaipō). The concert was streamed by millions of fans across 30 countries, thanks to a trailblazing partnership with the leading streaming platform Veeps, and it was also the first-ever concert to be streamed live via TikTok.We want to hear from you! Justin Bieber surprised fans by sharing Freedom, a gospel-inspired EP, on Easter. The 27-year-old pop superstar's new release popped up on streaming platforms around 6 p.m. ET on Sunday (April 4). “Freedom on all platforms,” Bieber wrote on Instagram shortly after the new project surfaced. Freedom‘s track list includes six songs: title track “Freedom” with Beam, “All She Wrote” (feat. Brandon Love and Chandler Moore), “We're in This Together,” “Where You Go I Follow” (feat. Pink Sweats, Chandler Moore and Judah Smith), “Where Do I Fit In” (feat. Tori Kelly, Chandler Moore and Judah Smith) and “Afraid to Say” (feat. Lauren Walters). The Freedom EP follows the release of Bieber's sixth album, Justice, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart. The 16-track set, released through Raymond Braun/Def Jam on March 18, follows his 2020 album, Changes. Justice was previewed by a quartet of top 40-charting hits on the Billboard Hot 100 songs chart: “Holy” featuring Chance the Rapper (No. 3); “Lonely” with Benny Blanco (No. 12); “Anyone” (No. 6) and “Hold On” (No. 26). The album's newest single “Peaches,” featuring Giveon and Daniel Caesar, recently debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 songs chart, making Bieber the first solo male artist to debut at the top of Billboard Hot 100 and Billboard 200 simultaneously. From Publisher: Billboard What did we miss? Justin Bieber addresses controversy about featuring MLK Interlude on new album Justin Bieber recently released his sixth studio album, titled ” Justice ,” and caught some backlash for including a Dr. Martin Luther King Interlude . Bieber spoke to Bieber Nation co-founder Kristal Terrell on the app Clubhouse about being labeled as a “white savior.” “Being Canadian… they didn't teach us about Black history. It was just not a part of our education system,” the musician explained [via Billboard ]. Bieber admitted he made “insensitive jokes when I was a kid” and was part of the problem “because I just didn't know better.” “I want to keep growing and learning about just all social injustices and what it looks like for me to be better, what it looks like for my friends to be better,” the “Yummy” singer said. “And I know I have a long way to go. I love that when people are listening to my album, these conversations are coming up and they're like, ‘Well, how is he going from Martin Luther King into a love song?'” Bieber added, “I'm not trying to make a connection between me and Martin Luther King. That's why I never try to talk about social injustice or I didn't want to be the one to talk about it because I just have so much more learning to do.” He just wanted to “amplify” the civil rights leader's “incredibly touching speech” and get conversations started about injustice. Bernice King, the youngest daughter of Dr. King, took to Twitter to support Bieber's use of her father's words in his album.
