I couldn't help but grin ear to ear when Monster Mike shared his unexpected pivot from a cutlery salesman to an avant-garde crypto artist; it's that sort of unpredictability that spices up our latest episode. Embark on an auditory odyssey with us as Mike, a maestro of the digital canvas, recounts his gastronomic escapades in Singapore's hawker markets and his trailblazing journey through the burgeoning world of NFTs. He's not shy about the realities of the art scene, offering pearls of wisdom for emerging talent in the digital realm, and emphasizing that true quality and authenticity are the cornerstones of success. Our conversation was a smorgasbord of topics, each more tantalizing than the last. We waxed poetic about shared passions, from the transcendental experience of witnessing a solar eclipse to indulging in the world's finest cheeses. Mike drew parallels between the art of food and the art of tech, unpacking how the Silicon Valley 'rush-to-market' ethos often undercuts the value of patience and craftsmanship. And for those on the cusp of adulthood or those simply seeking a renaissance in their careers, Mike's reflections on identifying one's true calling amidst life's noise strike a chord. As we wrapped up our session with laughter and a few off-tangent tales, Mike unveiled a sneak peek into his upcoming endeavors, including the innovative Polytick game and his non-linear comic book project birthed from live art sessions. Months later this girl experiences time and space in strange ways only to then discover a true tragedy.Britt, who may or may not know what a time slip is, then shares a story of an American in England who experiences the world's most perfect kebab only to realize the shop vanishes in the daytime. When a college student decides to change the volume on her TV, she reaches to do so only to discover herself back in time and miles away. A UPS driver working the night shift, goes in for his morning pack of cigarettes only to discover not a soul is in sight in this massive convenience store. No cars. No people. Nothing.Britt also realizes this is more of a people slip, less of a time slip.Alissa then shares a famous time slip location on Bold Street in Liverpool. A couple goes for a shopping trip, the wife in one store, the husband in the other. The husband then experiences a time slip back to the 1950's and is struck by how bizarre everything is. What's interesting is that there was someone from the future experiencing the same thing as him at the same time.Alissa noted that a lot of stories she found involved electricity and happened around the year 2010. I have a background in Arts & Human Services from Cornish College of the Arts in my hometown of Seattle, Washington & have continued to study different mediums since arriving in France. Before our move, I was a Social Worker focusing on poverty alleviation in the Greater Seattle Area, and lead art therapy classes in my free time with a local non-profit, supporting women & children exploited by sex trafficking. You oftentimes see the intertwining between my two passions through my artwork- a world where philanthropy and the arts collide into one beautiful, blend of both disaster & healing. Hey Scaredy Cats. In 2003, Quentin Tarantino started showing double features at his house. Being the die hard film fanatic that he is, he would also play movie trailers before each film. At one such screening, his friend Robert Rodriguez suggested that they do a double feature together. Tarantino loved the idea and came up with the name Grindhouse. For the price of one movie ticket, you got to see two cool movies made as tribute to the grindhouse movies of the seventies, complete with fake trailers and ads. Rodriguez made the zombie action horror Planet Terror and Tarantino made a slasher movie that also paid tribute to classic car movies like Vanishing Point and Gone in 60 Seconds (the good one, not that Angelina Jolie bullshit as one of the characters says). Unfortunately, the concept didn't make a big impact on the box office in North America and the movies were then released separately for international audiences. Just a friendly reminder that as always, we will be breaking down the plot in great detail. That means… there will be loads of spoilers, so if you haven't seen the movie, go watch it! Otherwise, proceed at your own risk. Joining us to talk about one part of the Grindhouse double feature are Kendall from the TerrorNova podcast, Jessica, and Ryan. Yes, we should have done this as a Grindhouse episode and if we were going to break it up into two, Planet Terror should have come first. We're breaking all kinds of rules because that's the kind of rebel podcast we are. Hey Scaredy Cats! Welcome to the Haunted Library with Sherri and Ryan. This month's installment is all about Gloria by Bentley Little: "Considering she had just attended her mother's funeral, Gloria Jaymes never expected to see the woman again, but then her dead mom shows up at her house. Gloria's mom is… different. She's younger than when she died, dressed in clothes from the 1980s. And nobody else in Gloria's family seems to recognize her. As Gloria tries to figure out the reason for her mother's reappearance — and the odd behaviors the woman begins to exhibit — other bizarre events occur. The changes to Gloria's world are small and subtle, at first… then they become much more startling. The freaky situation might just be connected to a mysterious shed in a small California town. Hey Scaredy Cats! 2021 was such a great year for horror. We had long awaited returns for some big franchises. We saw some absolutely bonkers films and some genuinely terrifying ones. We got another Mike Flanagan MASTERPIECE. On top of all that, a lot of great horror books came out in 2021. And while I would love to discuss them all, I've narrowed it down to ten of my favourites. So, sit back, pour yourself a hot beverage because it's time for the Scaredy Cats 2021 highlight reel. He resides and has setup a studio in a rural setting in the UK where he can peruse his passion in a peaceful environment. Many of Jeff's works explore the various cities and continents of the world from a very unique perspective. While he has also been inspired by the natural world, either incorporating these elements into his works or taking them as the subject for the piece.Recently Jeff has been exploring the ancient world and making this the subject of some of his most recent works.
